Problem with Airplay mirroring

Hi, i just downloaded and installed Mountain Lion on my mid-2011 Mac Mini. The airplay mirroring fonction work perfectly to my Apple Tv until i turn off the TV that is connected to the Mac Mini.. Then the screen on the apple tv become all distorted. Is this normal? How can i turn off or just change source on the TV that is connected to the Mac Mini and still be able to enjoy the airplay mirroring in an other room with my Apple Tv?

OK, I am replying to my own question!    My husband just found a thread solving this problem.

We changed the video settings on the Apple TV to 'auto', and restarted.   It works great now!

  • Problem with AirPlay mirroring with iTunes

    Hi,
I have a new iMac (purchased April 2013) running OS X Mountain Lion and am having issue with AirPlay mirroring with iTunes via Apple TV 3 running the latest update.
I have no problem streaming ITunes music (audio) to my Apple TV 3 via AirPlay.
However, when I enable Airplay Mirroring to ATV3 (either via System Prefs or via the Airplay Mirroring menulet icon at upper right of the screen), 2 things happen:
    1. My iMac screen gets mirrored to my HDTV via ATV3 as expected (good)
    2. Music (audio) stops playing via ATV3 (bad) - this is the key issue I am trying to resolve
When i disable Airplay Mirroring, I am able to again play music via ATV3.
Am I missing a setting somewhere to enable BOTH video and audio Airplay mirroring from my iMac via ATV3?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

I think I have found the reason for my problem...

AirPlay Mirroring in OS X Mountain Lion takes advantage of the hardware video encoding capabilities of 2nd and 3rd Generation Intel Core processors. Hardware video encoding allows AirPlay Mirroring to efficiently deliver high frame rates while maintaining optimal system performance. The following Mac models have processors that support AirPlay Mirroring:
    iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)
Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)

  • Problem with Airplay Mirroring: Image Cut Off

I have a mid 2011 Macbook Pro.   I have installed Mountain Lion.   I am able to activate Airplay Mirroring, however, part of the image is cut off.   In other words, what is shown on my TV is only about 2/3 of the image that is shown on my macbook.    It is not showing a black bar, or anything like that.   It is more like the image is enlarged and doesn't fit on the TV screen.
I have searched the internet trying to find a solution.   I haven't found anyone with this problem.   So, my question is, do I have some settings wrong?   Or is it a problem with the settings on my TV?   If anyone has suggestions for troubleshooting this problem I would be grateful!   I really want to use airplay!
    Thanks!

  • Problem with Airplay Mirroring - freezes screen on ATV whilst playing movies

Airplay Mirroring disfunctions when playing movies in Vuze, freezing screen on ATV, leaving sound only. I am using a Mac Pro running Mountain Lion. Has anybody experienced the same please?

Reason I ask is that I work from home and I've copied all of my DVD's into iTunes.
What I was hoping to achieve would be able to work on the laptop whilst the movies stream (not on the laptop panel) but directly to the ATV?
If you are saying that you have converted video to AppleTV compatible h264 (discussing converting commercial DVDs is prohibited by Apple's rules) and added it to iTunes, you can do what you want without using Airplay at all.
With both AppleTV and Mac on the same network, and Home Sharing enabled on both (for AppleTV 2/3) you can simply stream from the computer to AppleTV under AppleTV's computers icon.  If you have a silver AppleTV1 you need to pair it to your iTunes library to achieve the same.
While your Mac does not support Airplay mirroring, iTunes has supported video Airplay to AppleTV 2/3 for a long time - it is different to mirroring and just pushes the stream rather than AppleTV pulling it.
Apple have blocked Airplay of DVD Player output via Airplay mirroring which is pretty poor.
For general desktop mirroring you might want to look at Airparrot:
    http://airparrot.com
Sky block Airplay from iOS, not sure if Apple allow blcoking of Airplay of certain things from the Mac in the same way as DVD player.

  • Apple TV having problems with Airplay

    Hi
I'm having problems with Airplay on my Apple TV. It will play A video once then errors out. Wifi has full strength and software is up to date. i have tried forgetting the wifi and reconnecting. This will fix the problem for a moment and then it errors out again. Netflix and everything else seems to be working fine just airplay keeps kicking me out. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hi mrshoughton,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your Apple TV. If you continue to have issues with Airplay performance from your device/computer to your Apple TV, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following articles helpful. In particular, if you are using Airplay from iTunes on a computer, you may want to rule out any WiFi issues by temporarily connecting your computer and your Apple TV directly to your router via Ethernet, as noted in the second article below:

  • Anybody else having problems with airplay with ios 5.1 on iphone 4s

So i bought an iphone 4s a few months back and it came with ios 5, i then tryed it with my airplay speakers and they kept cutting out so i googles about it and found there was a known problem with iphone 4s and airplay speakers.
ios 5.0.1 then came out a few weeks later and the problem seemed to be fixed and i was happy as they worked fine after that
ios 5.1 then came out so i updated my 4s to this and started playing music through airplay and they started to cut out again, i turned them off and on and it happened again, then i reset them to my wifi router and the problem still occured
Is anybody else having this problem with airplay on there iphone 4s running ios 5.1?
If so, apple really need to sort this out! I bought my iphone with high expectations and to pay all that money for it not to work is not good

Try resetting your device by holding down both the home and lock buttons for ~10 seconds or until the device restarts, ignoring the power slider.

  • Potential Problems with Airplay and Mountain Lion

    Hey Everyone,
I recently purchased an Apple TV, and I tried to use Airplay with our Macbook Pros. Airplay would work with all of the iOS Devices, but when it came to using with the MBP, it would either show a black screen, or a frozen image of my screen. I called AppleCare, and the rep told me it was a problem with the AppleTV, so I returned it and bought a new one, and it did the same thing. I found out that the problem was occuring because of the type of router I was using. I have a dualband router, and I set everything on one band of the router. I decided to try to place the laptops on a different band, and that's all it took. My airplay now works flawlessly.
So, if you're having a problem with airplay, and you have a dualband router, try placing your computer & iOS devices on the opposite band, and it should work perfectly.
    Hope this helps.

  • Apple TV causing problems with Airplay from Airport Express?

I am having a problem with Airplay on my home network. I have two Airplay devices - Apple TV and an Airprot Express. I soon as both of these devices are on my wireless network Airplay starts to create all kinds of errors, delays, inability to connect and ultimately both AP devices crash.
The AE is connected to the existing network and is only being used as an airplay device to send music to a set of speakers.
I have looked at the knowledge base & I tried all of the following (plus every conceivable combination):
Restored both the Apple TV & AE to factory settings.
Checked both are on independent IPs.
Checked all the settings on my router.
    Restarted my router.
Changed the channel on my router (it's worth mentioning here that both devices are on a 5GHz connection).
It's also worth noting that when I did a factory reset of everything and set the ATV up on an ethernet connection everything worked swimmingly until I unplugged the ethernet cable and connected the device to the wireless network.
Both work independently (i.e. when the other is not connected to the wireless network), but need restarting if the two have been run at the same time.
So - in a nut shell - it appears to me that the two devices are interfering with each other - but how?!
Are any geniuses out there able to help?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks Winston. I put the APE onto the 2.4 connection. This didnt solve this issue, but then with the two devices on the different connections I changed the channels a few times and eventually I found a coblination that works! I now have a problem where the ATV doesn't wake up to AirPlay, but I feel this is most likely a separate issue.

Was watching a movie with AirPlay mirroring on atv from iMac.   Got a Skype call. Could not hear caller until I unplugged atv. Turned off AirPlay on both atv and iMac. Could not hear Skype caller until I turned off atv. What else could I have done?

I checked and found that the router did not have the latest firmware.   It does now.   The issue is still there.   I did a little research and found that the model number of my Apple TV (MC572LL/A) shows that it is a 2G version which uses the A4 chip.   The latest version uses the A5 chip and is 1080 capable.  Both are supposed to be capable of using type "N" routers.   I don't think that should be an issue but I wonder if later updates may have introduced some issues in the 2G version.
I am going to try changing the "N" channel also- just to see if that makes any difference.  The istumbler app does not show any "N" networks in my area so it is defaulting to 149.   I will note that even 1 foot away from the router I only get 75-85% for signal.   I would expect it to be 100% since it is so close.   I am also seeing noise go up from typically 13% to 21% when it is on channel 3 and that close.       I will play change locations and channels and see if there is any improvement.

  • HT204291 Problem with Airplay or AirPlay Mirroring

I am not able to use AirPlay or AirPlay Mirroring to stream content like Hulu (not Hulu plus) to my Apple TV from my PC.  I disabled the firewall and that did not help.

How are you trying to do this?  It would require mirroring and you seem to have a PC not mac.  If that is the case you need a third party app called airparrot www.airparrot.com which should give you the ability to 'mirror'.  It has mixed reviews but I found it fine until I got mirroring.

  • Why isn't my iMac compatible with airplay mirroring with the new Mountain Lion upgrade?

Yesterday, I upgraded to the newly released Max OS X Mountain Lion, mainly because I was very interested in the airplay mirroring function that Mountain Lion brings to the table. To my dismay, however, I found that AirPlay is not available on my device due to the fact that my iMac is from mid/late 2010 and that function only works on mid-2011 and newer.
Why is it that my 21.5" iMac running a core i3 processor is not deemed worthy enough to have this function. I honestly feel a bit robbed that it is not included in my $19.99.  Why am I paying the same price as someone else who is getting that key feature.
I love Apple to death. I've had many of their products, but I really feel as though this is unfair, and that I have been mislead.

I don't know why it does not work - assuming it has something to do with firmware, EFI, or similar; however, if you want Apple to hear you, consider filing feedback here since these are strictly user to user forums:

  • Problems with AirPlay

    Hi.
I recently bought an AppleTV (3rd generation as far as I know), it is connected to an Ben-Q projector in a church. The internet connection works fine, when it comes to watching movie trailers and youtube videos. BUT, no mather what I do I can't get the AirPlay function to work.
The homesharing is turned on as it should be, I have loged in on my MacBook Pro and as well an (hate to say it) windowspc we have here in the church. I have signed in on my account in iTunes and turned on the homesharing there as well. The ATV can't find any shared musiclibrary. Also when I tried to use the AirPlay mirroring funtion in Mountain Lion on my MBP it can't find the ATV.
Have any one expirienced somthing like that before? Could it be that the wireless router we have is the problem? We have an Cisco RV 120W. Do I maybe need to make some TCP/UMD port rules?
I have also tried via AirParrot on the windows pc just to see, it's the same there, it doesn't find the ATV.
I would appreciate it very much if anyone could help!

You probably have a flaky connection between router and Bose speaker.
    Try the following:
    1. Reset the AirPlay devices
    2. Reboot the iPad
    3. Reboot the router
    4. Update your router's firmware
