Problem with album art in iTunes 7!

Ok I tried doing a search for this topic and came up with a lot of threads that didn't really answer my question so if this has been asked, my apologies....
The problem I'm having with iTunes 7 currently is that I go into the iPod Preferences and I un-check the box to include Album Art on the iPod to remove all artwork and then check it again to restore artwork. Now what happens is that iTunes does remove album art from the iPod but when I check the box to restore artwork it doesn't do crap! I did this exact thing several times to no avail, all of my album art that formerly was on the iPod is now gone and I can't get it back on despite the art being in the tags in iTunes.
***?? Why is this not working, what am I missing here? If I'm not missing anything here and I find out I gotta re-install or do some weird funky thing with iTunes to get the album art to work I'm going to be majorly disappointed with this crap of a release! Please tell me it's just me and that I'm not doing the right thing to restore my album art to the iPod!

I have the same exact problem stated above. Since the v.7 release, my album art displays incorrectly on my iPod. The strangest thing is that my device never displays the same WRONG album art twice - it's always something different. The other day was very interesting...every single song I played displayed the same exact album cover. Today at least the art is changing around a bit but still, the art is wrong! Wow. I reset my iPod and started from scratch - nothing happened. I feel like my iPod is on vacation. "Oh, you want art? Hold on...How about this one? No?...ok...How about this one?." If you can hear me Apple, please fix this.

  • Compatability Problem with Album Art and iTunes in Vista?

    Hi there,
I have album art for all of my music which I have added myself. (I prefer to do so instead of iTunes doing it for me.) However, after purchasing a new computer using Vista, I've encountered a problem.
When I drag and drop my music into iTunes, only about half of the album art shows up. The rest either isn't loaded or isn't identified by iTunes, even though I know it's there.
In fact, you can see the album art icon associated with each file when it's organized in its folder on my C: drive. But again, for some reason, much of it isn't loading when I open the files into iTunes.
I never had this problem using XP. Is it a compatability issue or is there a simple fix I'm unaware of? I'd really appreciate any help!!
    Thanks,
    Michael

Alright, my apologies, Chris. I don't think I explained myself clearly enough. The files are embedded with the music (these are the same music files that worked just fine in XP.)
The artwork isn't separate from the actual music file. When you click on the actual music file, you see the ICON associated with the file, and it's the artwork. I suppose that's just a new Vista feature.
However, I embedded all of the album covers myself, and again, they worked just fine in iTunes with XP. But for some reason, only about half of the album art is being recognized by iTunes even though it's embedded into the actual tag.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • Problems with Album Art flow

I have Windows Vista, and it's on an excellent machine, (for example) I can run Oblivion on the highest graphical specs with no lag. However, my iTunes cover art, or my album art is slow, even when there is no album art. I tried reinstalling itunes and I've tried searching the internet for help, but I haven't seen any answers.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I have the same problem and I don't think he's talking about the loading time for the library to show up... I have 6982 songs, around 20 videos and around 500 pics. It always worked fine and cover flow was very fast. I still have the same number of files but itunes is sluggish and even video playback gets chopped. I updated my iTunes to 7.5 from 7.3.2.6. to try to fix this. I installed directshow video codec package and I'm not sure if that was what caused the problem in the first place or meybe a new install of Office. I uninstalled all codecs and new plugins in my system. What could it be?

  • Problems with album art copying to ipod touch

I got a 2nd generation ipod touch for christmas and am having some problems with the album art. I have all of the album art set up in itunes, and when I right click on a song and tell it to 'get info' it shows the album art picture fine (in my itunes library as well as in my ipod's music library), but when the song is actually playing on the ipod the screen is just blank. It isn't just the white background with the music notes like a song with no album art at all, it's just a black screen. When I flip the ipod sideways and browse through the albums all of the album art shows up except for a few which are blank as well. Anybody know why this is happening? Another weird thing is that the album art will show up for maybe one or two songs in the album, but the vast majority are just showing a blank black screen with no picture. Anyone else having this problem?

"And now I can't get rid of that cover w/o deleting the whole songlist."
are you sure? if you go to either album info (right clicking on the album in grid view) and double clicking in the album art section, you should be able to use any picture you have saved on your machine by navigating to that picture. OR right clicking individual tracks, then get info, and going to 'artwork', and then deleting it there (you might have to delete them all individually, but it beats having the wrong art there)

  • Having problems with Album Art

When I transfer music to my Pre the album art only shows up in "photos", there are no thumbnails in the "music" card. The pre seems to automatically make 3 extra copies too, so If I transfer an album to my music foler, not only will I get no thumbnail in my music, but I will get 4 copies of the album cover in my photos. Anybody help with this?

How are you transferring your music? Are you using a sync program like DoubleTwist, an older version of iTunes, or dragging & dropping your music manually?

  • Problem with album art... Please help

Hello, I put all my album art on all my songs which took forever last week. I updated my ipod last week and everything was all right with the album art on it. I updated it today, but now, all my album art on my ipod the same picture. On itunes, though, the album art is correct. How can I fix this without having to re-do my whole library!?? I updated my Ipod software and downloaded the latest itunes. Please help me.. Thanks so much in advance...

The easy quick thing to do IF the album art work is correct on iTUnes, is to just reset the iPod by holding down the center button and menu, if that doesn't work use the latest iPod updater (2006-03-23) and just restore it
Restore will wipe the iPod clean, but you can just sync it again with iTUnes and have everything loaded back on and hopfully with the correct art

  • Problem with album art on apple tv 2 since IOS 5

    hey
since i installed ios 5 on my ipad and apple tv 2 i have the problem that my album artwork does not appear starting from song 2 of the album
when i airplay with my ipad, the first song of an album has album art, starting from the second song, the album art suddenly dissapears

I have the exact same problem also - very frustrating given that it was working perfectly before I updated to IOS 5. strangely enough, the artwork displays for the first track you select within each album, so if you create a playlist and select one track from each album this would display the album artwork correctly and no problem exists. If you decided to skip from track 1 to another track within the album the artwork is not displayed? I have an iPhone which works fine when I use this to play music through apple TV so for me the issue is with the iPad update software and it must be a glitch or error in the recent update. I would really appreciate any tips to fix this issue as it bugging the **** out of me!!! Apple - get yer finger out and fix this!!!

  • Problems with album art!!!!

I had previously added album art to my 8 and a half thousand tracks on my 60gb video ipod and last night while syncing I got a unknown error of -50 and I lost all of my album art from the ipod.
I went into my prefs in Itunes and switched off display album art, re synced the ipod where during the process it said it was deleting album art. I then went to prefs switched back on album art and proceded to update the ipod, but again I got the same error.
there is 1.5 gigs free on the ipod.
    Any ideas?

Make sure everything is up to date...
    iTunes
    iPod Updater
    Updating iPod's Software
If that doesn't work, you may need to restore the iPod...
    Restore the iPod
    And reload everything.

  • Having problems with album downloaded from iTunes...

I downloaded it directly from my iPhone. It is a compilation album. Instead of displaying as one album on my itunes (on both Mac and iPhone) it displays each as song as a seperate album. Its a bit of a pain because its over a 100 songs and it thinks its over 100 albums =-S
    anyway to fix this?
    Cheers

I know that it is time consuming and a bit of a pain in the butt to have to do it, but I would backup the iPad, restore to factory settings and then restore from the backup, and sync everything back to the device. It's going to take a while because you have a ton of music on the iPad, but IMO, that would be your best option now.
You could try unsyncing all of the music, and then resync it all again, but that takes time as well. If you are going to spend that much time trying to fix it, you may as well restore the device ...IMO once again.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

  • Problems with album cover in iTunes

I have created several songs in Garageband using my own instruments. I added these to Itunes. I also created an albumcover. But I am not allowed to add image to the songs or the album. The image tab is greyed out. Anybody know a quick fix. I have tried to copy and paste, but the image is not showing.

    I'm having a similar problem.
Every now and then, a track from a ripped CD or from iTunes or from eMusic will "look" OK in iTunes (or on my iPod), but when the track plays, it gets partially through and it jumps to the next track in the playlist.
For example, if playback of track 1 pauses and jumps to track 2 at 1:30 into playback of track 1, & I click on 1:31 or later in track 1, the rest of track 1 will play fine. But if the playback of track 1 starts at the before the "skip point," the track will stop & iTunes (or iPod) goes on to the next track in the playlist. If I locate the file (on my external drive) and play it in the finder, there's always buzzing sound at the point where the iTunes jumps to the next track.
For ripped CD's this is not a huge deal, I just re-rip & usually all is well. With eMusic, I can download again, but with iTunes, I have to file a complaint & so far they've just credited my account, which is OK, but time consuming.
At first I thought the problem was with my optical drive, but then the problem started happening with downloads from iTunes and eMusic as well. NONE of these shenanigans happened before I upgraded to iTunes 7.6, so I'm wondering if that's where the problem is. One thing's for sure: I'm not going to "jump" at the next upgrade of iTunes!
I'm totally stumped & bummed. iTunes used to be a really good friend, now I find myself wondering if I should bother with putting my entire CD collection on iTunes if it's no longer as reliable as it used to be.

  • Problem with album picture on iPod with iTunes 10.2.2.14

I'm using iTunes 10.2.2.14 on windows xp (service pack3) with iPod classic 80Gb.
In iTunes I have 14.000 songs. Most of them with album illustration.
In iTunes these illustrations are available.
On my iPod I can se the covers
On my iPod Classic in [music] [cover flow] view, I see the album pictures
On my iPod Classic in [music] [[Albums] view, no picture is show at all.
When playing the indivualnumber for each album,
I will NOT see the album cover for the first song in that album
However, I do see the albumcovers for the subsequent numbers.
Missing the album for the first song, I can understand the view-per-album does not show any picture
Mostlikely because it will take the album picture from the first song.
But why is is missing with (all) first songs ?
I checked Itunes; the album cover is there.
I have de-installed en installed iTunes.
    I have emptied the iPod.
I have reload all the songs in iTunes.
    All without result.
An so strange; the same effect for all albums.
Somebody suggestions what the cause is ?
Or how I can overcome / repair this ?
    Andre

If your iPod is set to update automatically then try this:
    1. Connect your iPod
    2. Disable "Show Album art" in iTunes>Edit>Preferences>iPod.
    3. Syncronise the iPod with iTunes. (Disconnecting and then reconnecting your iPod will do the trick)
    4. Re-enable "Show Album Art" in iTunes>Edit>Preferences>iPod.
    5. Syncronise the iPod again.

  • Displaying ipod album art in itunes

I have a question about the iPod's display of album art in iTunes when it is plugged into my computer. I had been getting really frustrated for the better part of the evening after adding a bunch of album art to my music, updating it on the iPod (I do manual update so I dragged the songs onto the iPod after adding the art), and then clicking on them in the iPod's library in iTunes only to see that there was no album art there. What gives?
However, I realized that I was getting annoyed for no reason when I checked it out in the iPod itself, after I disconnected it. All of the album art is there.
So here is the strange behavior I have observed this evening: if I had to go out on the internet and find cover art myself, and add it manually to the files in iTunes, it displays in the iPod's library in iTunes. If iTunes helpfully went out and found the cover art for me automatically, it does NOT display in the iPod library in iTunes (although it is actually there when you go to play the music on the disconnected iPod). I went through the iPod's library in iTunes and this is consistently what is happening.
Obviously this isn't a life-or-death kind of situation, but I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this behavior or knows why this happening. For what it's worth, my entire iTunes library is on an external hard drive, and all of my music is on there in the same place. Do you think iTunes is storing the art in separate places depending on whether I added it or it found it on its own? Would this even matter? I am very curious about this. Thanks for any insight anyone has for me.

when i play the music on the iPod the albums show up
no problem... but when the iPod is connected to
iTunes, and i'm browsing my ipod via itunes, only
    some album art shows up...
IE: beck guero, has album art in the itunes library,
it also has the art on the ipod if i play it with the
ipod disconnected from my mac. it DOES NOT show album
art when connected to itunes and view the ipod within
    itunes...
whats the deal? some albums are just fine, but the
vast majority of them dont display the art while in
itunes... again, if i disconnect the ipod and view
them on the ipod, there is no problem all albums
    display.
    any help is appreciated.
Just so you know, you're not going crazy and you're not the only one that's seeing this. I'm seeing the same behavior with a 30GB 5G iPod and iTunes7 under Windows XP.

  • How do you add album art in iTunes 12? everything I've tried doesn't work

how do you add album art in iTunes 12?

    Two methods:
Right-click on the album, select Get Album Artwork.  iTunes will determine whether this album is available from the iTunes Store and, if so, download the artwork image from the Store and associate it with the media files.
Right-click on the album, select Get Info and then the Artwork tab,  Then:
click the Add Artwork button, navigate to and select an image file on your computer, or
drag and drop an image file from your computer to the Artwork tab, or
copy an image to the clipboard (for example, from a web page) go to the Artwork tab and press Ctrl-V (there's a bug in iTunes 12.0.1.26 such that right-click > paste does not work here
For the second method, you can also access the "old style" editor window from iTunes 11 by holding down Shift as you right-click > Get Info.
Lastly, there are three cases in which you can follow these procedures but artwork is not correctly associated with or embedded in your media files:
your media are in a format that doesn't accommodate embedded artwork - typically WAV files.  To embed artwork you'll need to convert to another format - Apple Lossless or AIFF if you want to preserve lossless quality, AAC or MP3 otherwise.
your media files are read only - to fix this, use Windows Explorer to find the folder that contains your files, right-click and select Properties.  On the General tab there's a check box labeled "Read-only" - if this is checked, or is grey (sometimes blue), click the box so that the flag is unchecked and the box is white.  Click OK, and then OK again when the "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files" option selected.  Now try adding the artwork again.
Windows permissions issues are preventing iTunes from updating your media files (there's some anecdotal evidence of a change in this behavior in iTunes 12).  See turingtest2's notes on Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows for advice on fixing this, then try adding the artwork again.
