Problem with AT-MIO-16
How can I install the AT-MIO-16-L-25 under windows 2000? I tryed Ni-Daq 6.1 but it crash during the card selection and the new Ni-Daq versions don't propose to install the AT-MIO-16-L-25.
Thanks to reply me.
Please submit your questions in the Measurement Hardware -> Multifunction DAQ section of the discussion forum. That section will address NI-DAQ related questions.
The Measurement Hardware DDK does not support legacy MIO cards. RLP support for legacy MIO hardware (AT-MIO-...) can be found on the NI web site.

Upgrade win98/LV4 to win2000/LV6: Speed problems with AT-MIO-16E
I found that in Windows 2000 with Labview 6 the readout rate of our AT-MIO-16E board drops to approx. 2.5 kHz max. (before approx. 11.5 kHz in Windows 98 with Labview 4 ) using the 'AI single scan' VI (see attached scheme for the readout routine). I don't know if this is due to Win2000 or due to the new NI-DAQ drivers, but for our timing-critical application this is unacceptable.
Are there any suggestions about how to accellerate the readout of the AT-MIO-16E board?
With best thanks,
Thomas Schultz

AT-MIO-16E_DAQ_example.bmp 161 KBHi Thomas,
Here is another idea I can give but will be of limited use in chasing it down.
Make sure the board is using DMA.
DMA is alot faster than CPU based data transfers.
Maybe durring the softeware conversion, the board got installed without DMA enabled.
Just an idea.

Dear all,
I'm in a beginner with NI-DAQ instrument.
In our lab, AT-MIO-16X(ISA slot/Windows 98/Win32 API programming) have used by collecting experimental data.
Recently, I have modified some ADC program code by using well-operated routine which have already been used.
The data collection(using GETADC() with AI_READ function or direct address access) was failed. The data were very noisy but have a sinusoidal form. I mean the data showed the same values peridoically. The unmodified routine read them correctly. The noisy signal could not removed even in the test of using an well defined signal.
As you may know well, ADC routine have no parameters I have to sent.
The overall code was not long statements(about 20 lines) and I have to poi
nt out that the routine used the almost same function with unmoidfied.
It just read data from the NI-DAQ.
The TEST PANEL from NI showed the data correctly.
If I measured the data under executing TEST PANEL, my program read the data correctly with a failure sometimes.
I don't know why this happened.
I changed the physical address of AT-MIO-16X but it was useless.
Could you give any recommendations or what I should check the card?
Thank you in advance.Labmaster,
My understanding of the issue is that your original application appears to acquire data cleanly and successfully. However, you modified part of the program, and now you acquire noisy data. If you are concerned that there may be something wrong with the card now, simply revert back to your old program and make sure it works correctly again. If it does work correctly, then you will need to check the modification you made to the program and make sure you aren't making a mistake in your code. Good luck. -
IRQ or DMA problem with AT-MIO-16XE-50
This board run perfectly on a platform AMD K6-2 with Win98SE. But, it is impossible to run it on platforms Intel (PIII and 440bx) with Win2000pro as with Win98SE. The board is recognized by the system. No conflict is announced. But the test on NiDAQ indicates that the board do not answer first IRQ. Among all my tests, I sometimes obtained the message does not answer first channel DMA.
I tested various BIOS configurations and various configurations of the material resources. It would be impossible for me to describe them. Help me please..."lexam" wrote in message

In this very same newgroup

I asked the original poster to reply if he/she used a sound card and I
therefore I have no way to tell if this suggestion will be solve the
problem. It looks that you already investigated various possibilities for
unknown reason of DMA channel failure. May I suggest the same that I could
have suggested in details before?. If you have a sound card - uninstall the
sound card software. Uninstall the sound card itself. Now try your NI card
AT-AI-16XE-10. Note that some sound card drivers (particularly the ones for
MS DOS) do not get uninstalled easily even though the Windows uninstall
utility might certify that the stuff has been successfully uninstalled
(particulary for older OSs like Win95, Win98). Generally the sound card
manufacturer gives the details on removing drivers for their sound cards.
My logic is that the sound card driver ge
ts hold of DMA channels (atleast
two of them) before any other driver has even chance to choose.
If you do not have a sound card try finding out how the DMA channels are
allocated.

Problems with the new iPad and Joikuspot premium after iOS 6
Hi,
I'm experiencing serious problems with my new iPad after last iOS update. Usually I was connecting to the internet through Joikuspot premium on Nokia mobile phone (E6). I was able to do everything, https sites surfing, absolutely everything with no exceptions.
Now, after iOS 6 update, I can't connect to https sites, google+, sync calendar etc.
I've tried to change connection criteria on joikuspot but nothing. The fact is also that other devices as laptop or other smartphones are still working perfectly, in any case, sharing the wi-fi connection created by joikuspot.
Finally the problem is 100% due to the iPad and the new iOS.
disappointing, amateur for such a device... (iPad I mean).
Any help?
Many many thanks
VittorioHo lo stesso problema, dopo l'aggiornamento a IOS 6 l'ipad non riconosce più il mio nokia N8. Con IOS 5 andava una cannonata...

How have you got the ports iChat needs open in your Modem or Router ?

This is supposed to have port 16402 listed at all points.
The SIP port at you end has already moved.
Later attempts show the Buddy moving port as well.
a=rtpID:2795763882
7073.595276 @/SourceCache/VideoConference/VideoConference-413.1/SIP/Transport.c:2138
At th point where the Square brackets show you are supposed to list A PING
This is most likely not showing as the ports and SIP invite are not resolved.
The bits below "Binary Images for iChat" tell us nothing.

Hi! (iPhone4s) I have a problem with Mail.
Hi all!
I have a problem with Mail.
I added my Gmail account. iPhone tells me that there are more than 42949670 mails. Obviously this number doesn't appear on the icon; I see it only when I open Mail. (Ah, I have already read all of these mails).
The problem is that iPhone doesn't tell me when a new mail arrives; on the icon, the number in red doesn't appear.
How can I set up my iPhone so that he tells me only how many new mails there are?
Thank you!
Ciao a tutti!
Grazie mille!i did both of them, but still the while sending the mail the diolog box is not showing up and also the spelling and grammer does not do the spelling check.
This problem just started for about 3 to 4 days now. earlier it was working normally. -
This may or may not be the proper place to post this, but I thought I'd
give it a shot:
I recently purchased a LJ4 printer with an internal jetdirect J2552A
card. I used WebJetDirect to update the firrmware to A05.05, the latest
from HP, and then set it up in IPX queue server mode. The updates and
queues seem to set up fine, but as soon as information is sent to the
card from the network (status report, print job, etc.), the printer
crashes with an error message of "80 Service (0009)". I have seen this
error before when the formatter board in the printer is defective and
there is a corresponding miscommunication between the printer and the
jetdirect card. To be sure it was the printer and not the jetdirect
card, I installed a brand new J2552A card I had on hand. After the
firmware upgrade, the same exact thing happened.
Anyone have any thoughts on how to fix this? I am back to using a
Linksys external print server to connect this printer to our network
(which is Netware 6 Small Business Suite). That print server works
fine, but I was really hoping to be able to use the Jetdirect internal
print server.

The formatter board could have a problem or the MIO connector could
also. Have you tried those cards in another printer? -
Hi@all, i am new here an hopefully somoene is able to help me.
I have following Problem with Apple Mail:
I did a Upgrade from Mac OS X 10.4 to 10.5.
After that, i can't sign and encrypt my Mails with Apple Mail.
The Certs are installed and trusted in keychain. But Mail doesn't show me anymore the Functions at creating a new mail to encrypt or sign the content.
Has anyone an idea?ok, i suggest you try two things.
first, try to drag one the "sul mio mac" that is above ".mac", below it, so that all four headers of "sul mio mac" are next to one another, and see if that clears the issue up.
if not, then i would locate the file com.apple.mail.plist in homefolder/library/preferences and trash it. do note that once you launch mail again you will have to recreate your account settings again.
hope this helps -
I am trying to implement some kind of a server listening for requests. The listener part of the app, is a daemon thread that listens for connections and instantiates a handling daemon thread once it gets some. However, my problem is that i must be able to kill the listening thread at the user's will (say via a sto button). I have done this via the Sun's proposed way, by testing a boolean flag in the loop, which is set to false when i wish to kill the thread. The problem with this thing is the following...
Once the thread starts excecuting, it will test the flag, find it true and enter the loop. At some point it will LOCK on the server socket waiting for connection. Unless some client actually connects, it will keep on listening indefinatelly whithought ever bothering to check for the flag again (no matter how many times you set the damn thing to false).
My question is this: Is there any real, non-theoretical, applied way to stop thread in java safely?
Thank you in advance,
LeftyThis was one solution from the socket programming forum, have you tried this??
public Thread MyThread extends Thread{
boolean active = true;
public void run(){
ss.setSoTimeout(90);
while (active){
try{
serverSocket = ss.accept();
catch (SocketTimeoutException ste){
// do nothing
// interrupt thread
public void deactivate(){
active = false;
// you gotta sleep for a time longer than the
// accept() timeout to make sure that timeout is finished.
try{
sleep(91);
}catch (InterruptedException ie){
interrupt();
} -
Problem with Threads and a static variable
I have a problem with the code below. I am yet to make sure that I understand the problem. Correct me if I am wrong please.
Code functionality:
A timer calls SetState every second. It sets the state and sets boolean variable "changed" to true. Then notifies a main process thread to check if the state changed to send a message.
The problem as far I understand is:
Assume the timer Thread calls SetState twice before the main process Thread runs. As a result, "changed" is set to true twice. However, since the main process is blocked twice during the two calls to SetState, when it runs it would have the two SetState timer threads blocked on its synchronized body. It will pass the first one, send the message and set "changed" to false since it was true. Now, it will pass the second thread, but here is the problem, "changed" is already set to false. As a result, it won't send the message even though it is supposed to.
Would you please let me know if my understanding is correct? If so, what would you propose to resolve the problem? Should I call wait some other or should I notify in a different way?
Thanks,
B.D.
Code:
private static volatile boolean bChanged = false;
private static Thread objMainProcess;
protected static void Init(){
objMainProcess = new Thread() {
public void run() {
while( objMainProcess == Thread.currentThread() ) {
GetState();
objMainProcess.setDaemon( true );
objMainProcess.start();
public static void initStatusTimer(){
if(objTimer == null)
objTimer = new javax.swing.Timer( 1000, new java.awt.event.ActionListener(){
public void actionPerformed( java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt){
SetState();
private static void SetState(){
if( objMainProcess == null ) return;
synchronized( objMainProcess ) {
bChanged = true;
try{
objMainProcess.notify();
}catch( IllegalMonitorStateException e ) {}
private static boolean GetState() {
if( objMainProcess == null ) return false;
synchronized( objMainProcess ) {
if( bChanged) {
SendMessage();
bChanged = false;
return true;
try {
objMainProcess.wait();
}catch( InterruptedException e ) {}
return false;
}Thanks DrClap for your reply. Everything you said is right. It is not easy to make them alternate since SetState() could be called from different places where the state could be anything else but a status message. Like a GREETING message for example. It is a handshaking message but not a status message.
Again as you said, There is a reason I can't call sendMessage() inside setState().
The only way I was able to do it is by having a counter of the number of notifies that have been called. Every time notify() is called a counter is incremented. Now instead of just checking if "changed" flag is true, I also check if notify counter is greater than zero. If both true, I send the message. If "changed" flag is false, I check again if the notify counter is greater than zero, I send the message. This way it works, but it is kind of a patch than a good design fix. I am yet to find a good solution.
Thanks,

Problem with threads running javaw
Hi,
Having a problem with multi thread programming using client server sockets. The program works find when starting the the application in a console using java muti.java , but when using javaw multi.java the program doesnt die and have to kill it in the task manager. The program doesnt display any of my gui error messages either when the server disconnect the client. all works find in a console. any advice on this as I havent been able to understand why this is happening? any comment would be appreciated.
troy.troy,
Try and post a minimum code sample of your app which
does not work.
When using javaw, make sure you redirect the standard
error and standard output streams to file.
Graeme.Hi Graeme,
I dont understand what you mean by redirection to file? some of my code below.
The code works fine under a console, code is supposed to exit when the client (the other server )disconnects. the problem is that but the clientworker side of the code still works. which under console it doesnt.

Problem with threads and camera.
Hi everybody!
I've a problem with taking snapshot.
I would like to display a loading screen after it take snapshot ( sometimes i
have to wait few seconds after i took snapshot. Propably photo is being taken in time where i have to wait).
I was trying to use threads but i didn't succeed.
I made this code:
display.setCurrent(perform);
new Thread(new Runnable(){
public void run() {
while((!performing.isShown()) && (backgroundCamera.isShown())){
Thread.yield();
notifyAll();
}).start();
new Thread(new Runnable(){
public void run() {
try {
this.wait();
} catch(Exception e) {
exceptionHandler(e);
photo = camera.snapshot();
display.setCurrent(displayPhoto);
}).start();This code is sometimes showing performing screen but sometimes no.
I don't know why. In my opinion performing.isShown() method isn't working correctly.
Does anyone have some idea how to use threads here?Hi,
I've finally managed to work this fine.
The code:
Object o = new Object();
display.setCurrent(perform);
new Thread(new Runnable(){
public void run() {
while(!performing.isShown()){
Thread.yield();
synchronized(o) {
o.notify();
}).start();
new Thread(new Runnable(){
public void run() {
try {
synchronized(o) {
o.wait(1);
} catch(Exception e) {
exceptionHandler(e);
photo = camera.snapshot();
display.setCurrent(displayPhoto);
}).start(); -
We have a problem where our application stops responding after a few days of usage. Things will for fine for a day or two, and then pretty quickly threads will start getting hung up, usually in places where they are allocating memory
We are running WebLogic 8.1 SP2 on Sun JDK 1.4.2_04 on Solaris 8 using the alternate threading model and the -server hotspot vm. We are running pretty much the same code that we had no problems with under WebLogic 6.1 SP4 and Sun JDK 1.3.1.
A thread dump usually shows that some or all of our execute threads are in the state "waiting for monitor entry" even though they are not currently waiting on any java locks. Here is a sample thread from the thread dump (we have ~120 threads so I don't want to post the full dump).

String.java line 1446 for this jdk allocates a new String object, and all the other threads in this state also are creating new objects or arrays, etc.
We've done a pstack on this process when it's in this state, and the threads that are in the "waiting for monitor entry" that look like they're allocating memory are all waiting on the same lwp_mutex_lock with some allocation method that's calling into the native TwoGenerationCollectorPolicy.mem_allocate_work (see pstack output below for the same thread as in the thread dump above)

Has anyone ever seen anything like this? I'm trying to figure out if this is caused by something we're doing, or something relating to our environment and jvm options. Any ideas?Thanks for the reply - I'm testing our app with the +UseConcMarkSweepGC now in our test environment to make sure it doesn't cause any problems there. Unfortunately the only place we've had this problem is on the production server, so it's extra difficult debugging this.
We're using the following memory options:
-ms512m -mx512m -XX:NewSize=128m -XX:PermSize=192m -XX:MaxNewSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=192m -XX:SurvivorRatio=8and the following debugging options, as we've also been seeing OutOfMemoryErrors ( see http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=37&thread=522354&tstart=45&trange=15 )
-verbosegc -XX:+PrintGCDetails -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -XX:+PrintHeapAtGCBTW, which c++filt version and options are you using? Our Solaris boxes only seem to have the GNU version installed. I was trying to run that on some of the other stack traces and wasn't getting anywhere, and didn't know if because it was GNU version wouldn't work on something compiled with the Sun compiler.
Thanks!
