FCP 7 hangin on boot when canopus is on aktiv FW Port . . . any hint ?

Is it possible you have another firewire device connected as well? When booting, your Canopus should be connected directly to the Mac via FireWire; the only other firewire connection (s) should be any external firewire drive(s) you're using for capture of the footage passing through the Canopus.
Also, check-is the Canopus set to Analog input rather than Digital? It should be set to analog if you are capturing from a source like VHS, 8mm tape, etc.

Lose color with canopus 300 converter from computer to TV

I have a new Sharp 15 in TV to use with FCE so I can see my movie on an analogue TV and edit color appropriately. The TV works well as a stand alone or when connected to a deck. But when I connect the Canopus advc-300 converter to my computer and put my FCE movie through the converter to the TV, I lose yellows and greens in the signal bar and throughtout the movie. I know it is not the TV causing the problem. So I am guessing my settings are not right on the converter. The Canopus help site is down because of some sort of transfer to Grass Valley and has been down for several days. Does anyone use this converter and know what I am doing wrong? Any help would be much appreciated

Yes, I have the manual and have been trying to make sense of it.
All dip switches were off, but I took your advice and turned on the 7.5 IRE.
Yes, it is in Digital mode and has been. When I hold it down for 3 seconds I get the bar code with no yellows or greens. Then the movie does not start, just the bar code. So I toggle that off and try again and the movie does not play on the TV screen.
I have the Easy Set up for out to DV converter. I am using a component cable and red and white cables for audio.
I always turn the converter off before I do anything.
3D processing and 3D noise reduction light up only if converting from analogue to digital, so that never lights when in DV mode.
It worked a day ago with the lousy color but then I thought it was my TV, but checked the TV out with cable input and with a deck and a DVD I had made and it is fine, the color is good.
So I deleted my recent FCE preferences from my Library, restarted and am in the fix I am in now.
I appreciate your advice, but no luck so far. Any more advice would be very much appreciated.

No audio in FCE with Canopus ADVC-110

Working in FCE HD 3.5, when I try to capture VHS from my VCR through the Canopus ADVC-110, the video is captured, but no audio. No audio appears on the audio tracks. When I do the same in iMovieHD, both the video and audio come through clean and clear.
I have the easy setup in FCE set to DV NTSC DV Converter. (Same thing if I have it set to DV NTSC). Any suggestions? I'm on an iMac 2.16 Intel 2GB, with a 500GB external hard drive.

I'd try shutting everything off completely, removing all cables and then start from scratch.
FCE should be able to import using the DV Converter option.
I suspect some king of weird fluke like cabling that the audio didn't arrive.
If that does not work then try trashing the FCE Preferences. Otherwise, I'm stumped as well.

Acrobat 11 Pro - problem with right-click "Convert to Adobe PDF" output folder

I'm migrating from one machine running Windows XP Pro with Acrobat 8 Pro to Windows 7 Pro with Acrobat 11 Pro.
On the XP machine, when I right-click on a document and select "convert to Adobe PDF" the process works just fine - it always outputs the file to the target destination I have set in the Adobe PDF printer definition.
On the Windows 7 Pro/Acrobat 11 Pro machine, the exact same settings are ignored: the PDF will always end up in the same folder as the source file.
Both the source folder and the destination folder are on one of my office's networked drives.
Under the Printing Preferences, I have the output folder address set the same on both machines, so it *should* go to the right location on the new machine.
Oddly enough, on the Acrobat 11 Pro machine, if I select Adobe PDF as the default printer and do a test print, it *does* print to the correct folder!
This has got me stumped!

If Adobe PDF is selected as the default printer, I *can* select a bunch of documents, right-click, select "print", and Word will open up, and they'll print to the correct target folder.
So, it's "just" the right-click "Convert to Adobe PDF" that doesn't work correctly.

The reinstall is typically the last ditch effort to do. The first step is Help>Repair and Help>Updates. As far as Office 2013, the PDF Maker of AA X is not compatible and you can only print. In your list of errors it showed a problem with AcroTray.exe. As a first step, go to the print and select print-to-file. The file will be a PS file (maybe with a PRN extension). Once the printer if finished, open the file in Distiller to complete the process. If that is successful, then the problem is with AcroTray. Check your running tasks to be sure AcroTray is indeed running. If not, that is likely the problem. If it is, then restart it (it is located in the Acrobat folder). AcroTray provides the interface between the PS creation and Distiller to automate the process of creating the PDF.

Apache/PHP - Problem with shell_exec - ImageMagick - convert

I have a problem with running external commands from a webpage written in php using Apache. In this case I'm trying to run convert, which is a program in ImageMagick.
I can run most commands without any problems but when running these I get errors.

The first command generates the new image but it is incorrect. The two others together gives me an output which looks correct but I still get the errors.
Running either of these commands directly via shell works great and generates the correct output and no error messages.
I would guess that the issue is how Apache handles the execution of shell_exec and the user that is used to run Apache. There is probably some restrictions that creates the issue but I'm note sure what.
I have tried running Apache using a new user I created which can run the commands correct directly in shell or by running "php -f testfile.php" but not through a webpage via Apache.
Any suggestions?

Problems with hyperlink when converting .docx to .pdf using Word 2010

I have a Word 2010 .docx document that has a link to a web site in it. The link works fine in Word, but does not work after the conversion to PDF. I am using the Acrobat add on in Word to create the PDF.
There is a pound sign ( # ) in the Word doc hyperlink and it is being changed to a percent sign ( % ) during the conversion to PDF. Any suggestions?

I will report the bug. I had read about some other problems with .docx files so I saved the .docx to .doc and then converted but I got the same results.

Audio problems with Canopus analog to digital converter

I'm trying to digitize and import VHS tapes into iMovie 08. I'm using the Canopus 110 analog to digital device. I've connected the VHS player to the Canopus with RCA cables, as prescribed. The video has imported beautifully — but there's no sound, and so my then 2 year old daughter appears to sing, but alas, no voice — except, for the occasional clip (about 2 to 4 seconds of sound on a 30 minute tape). Any ideas? (I've spoken with an Apple tech who walked me through a test before assuring me the problem didn't seem to be with iMovie ['-).

a. You did install the Canopus programs (on CD) ?
b. I connect mine to a Standard VHS-VCR and use the SCART connector on it's back
and to this a RCA to SCART plug WITH AN IN AND OUT Switch !
On my VHS-VCR there are two SCARTs on it's back - only one of them works for this.
c. If You in iMovie pref - set Playback via Camera - picture will play but sound
will be directed to analog device = Your Canopus
and if You connect a TV to this or via the VCR (as I've done) the audio playbacks
nicely trough this.
Sorry this only goes for iMovie 1 to 6 - not for 08 or 09 (very bad)

Problems with hyperlinks when converting

Hello, i use the online pdf creator. I have a document that is in microsoft publisher (originally from word) and when i convert it to PDF only a few of the links actually work, the majority of the links are just underlined words with no hyperlink. Also i have anchor tags that go from the table of contents to the actual page and none of them work.
I checked the Enable Tagged PDF Generation and still nothing, anyone have any ideas?

I just wanted to add that I tried an actual Microsoft Word 2003 version document in the Create Adobe PDF Online and set the tagged links so the hyperlinks and table of contents bookmark references would carry through to my 'e.book' file, however, I feel like the underdog here, as I didn't even get a PDF file, I received an error about the printer timeout exceeding the 10 minutes. I'm not sure why it took so long to lock up (or whatever it was doing) as I have no pdf for review. I decided to try the Post Script functionality, and found no help there as of yet, as the instructions on the Create Adobe PDF Online site do indicate where to find the Windows Drivers, the rest of the Adobe Download site area seems to not offer the same and the drivers are not to be found! I must admit that I am also lost as to why there were some informational bits to add the PDF printer to your pc, but only for those with winxp, and 2000. I have a pc with vista, does this site not support any of vista? (I also have XP laptop & desktop, but they both have Adobe acrobat -- 5.0 & 7.0)
(i know -- why am I using this online version? Well, simply, the 5.0, nor the 7.0 would finish conversion of this simple word document with tables in it. I've never had a problem before, and don't know what changed to make this complication, however, it seems to be getting no better.
So -- be happy you are on the PDF file-receiving end of the Links issue -- it could be a lot worse!
Maybe before I have to upgrade again, I'll find someone else who has experienced such a bizarre thing, and can get my document out where it needed to be 3 weeks prior to now!
Anyone have any ideas that might help this poor, confused person who is at wits end without some expert finger pointing?? I'll take any suggestions at this point!

At the moment there is no error checking (any characters other than (0-9|A-F|a-f) will give an error; only even number of chars is converted). You can do the error checking as an exercise on your own!

Problem with Adobe PDF Converter

I'm sorry to say I struggle with the technicalities a bit but would be really grateful for any help!
I have a laptop with Windows 7 64 bit, Office 2010, Acrobat Standard X, and PSE9.
I found in PSE9 whilst I could print pictures out on my HP All-in-One okay I could not print as a pdf. I thought the problem was with PSE9 but then I tried to print an Office 2010 document (Word) and noticed that whilst it did actually print fine, when I went back to print again there was a statement under Adobe PDF "Error: 1 document waiting". I printed another document as a pdf and the message changed to "Error: 2 documents waiting" (even though, again, it printed okay). So although with Office 2010 the PDF Converter seems to work it also builds up a list of errors.
I don't like not understanding what is going on! I tried to use Windows 7 to "troubleshoot" the problem but that was a silly waste of time ... it merely cleared the list of errors so I started all over again.
Can anyone help/advise?

I have the same problem & your update on the PORT being the problem was crucial. I sorted it out. The solution (for other folks who see this thread) is as follows:
1. Go to Printer Properties
2. Go to the Port Tab
3. Add a New Local Port
4. Name It Anything (e.g. "PDFPort" without a colon)

Problems With Creative Video Converter: iTunes

I have recently been trying to convert some video files i got off of iTunes to a format compatable with the Zen 8g. It keeps saying that the conversion is successful, but when I play the video files on my player the entire video is just a gray box. Some videos won't even go through, they just fail with the converter. Thank you for your help.

Hey I'm having the same problem, and thought that maybe we'd get more help if a few people had this happening? It won't even install for me, when the camera is almost done, the camera beeps twice to say its on and then my computer turns blue and dies. i dont really like that screen, so if anyone can fix it or tell me what to do?

Please can someone help me.
i've converted a pdf file to a word document but it was a scanned document so word had to translate it but its come out as a load of gibberish.
i have over a hundred pages of corrections to make because of it so i was wondering if any of you could either tell me what i could of done wrong r tell me how to do it right:-)

You cannot use Reader to do what you want. Depending on the language of your original document, you might be able to convert the document from a scan to text with Acrobat Professional. You can also investigate programs that are dedicated to OCR.

Problems with Adapter module converting Excel file to XML

I have created an adapter moduel to convert the input excel file to XML and have deployed it. While testing we found that there is an extra empty record with empty elements added additionally. Can anyone help on this?
