Problem With Cintiq Pen Pressure in CS5

Hey folks,
When using my Cintiq 12WX (using the latest drivers) on the CS5 I've found a strange quirk pops-up every now and then: sometimes it doesn't recognize/register the pen pressure and it goes from a thin line to solid flat line randomly. Like if one was using a mouse. I've searched the net to see whether this is an issue with the cintiq; the drivers for it; photoshop CS5 or any combination thereof and to see if there's a solution.
Unfortunately, all I've been able to find is that the issue most likely resides with CS5 and that there isn't any real solution. Here's a link to the wacom forums of a fellow who's dealing with the very same problem: http://forum.wacom.eu/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5606
I hope that by inquiring here, on the adobe forums, that perhaps a solution can still be found. Perhaps someone here has dealt with this and has found a fix? Of course, if there isn't any fix to be found I also hope that perhaps this can com  to th attention of those working on photoshop itself and that a fix can eventually be cooked up.
Thanks!

As far as we are aware, the problem is in the Wacom driver code.
Please check with Wacom for updates.

  • I have a problem with the pen in my mag/cyan print head. I have tried cleaning it, and replacing it

I have an HP ML7850 all-in-one model.  The display reads "There is a problem with the mag/cyan print head."  The HP solution center said I needed to replace the print head.  I did, but the problem still exists.  I went through the online self-diagnostic testing, and the results are that there is a problem with the pen.  I tried to gently clean the pens, but it did not help.  Any suggestions?

On D5460, it now prints with a cyan tint over whole picture.

  • Tablet + pen pressure + illustrator CS5 issue

    Hello all,
I just installed Illustrator CS5 and I can't get the brushes to recognize pen pressure from my graphics tablet (intuos3).
I have tried all the combos of brushes, strokes, etc.  It looks like all the 6D options (bearing, tilt, pressure) are greyed out. Thus, the ap doesn't recognize when I am using my pen.
Oddly, the pen works great in Photoshop CS5.
I am working on Windows 7.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!
    _Todd

I'm with Todditron and the others with lack of pressure problem.
    I'm on a Mac running OSX 10.6.6, with a Wacom Graphire4.
Pressure works in Photoshop CS5. In illustrator, pen works-making lines and scribbles as directed, but no variation with increased/decreased pressure. In the Brushes panel, I can double click on selected brush, opening an Art Brush Options window, and change width, roundness, etc from "fixed" to "pressure," but those qualities remain fixed, regardless of my pressure.
Wrote to and heard back from Wacom Help Desk. Followed their instructions..
"I would recommend removing your current driver by opening your Applications folder and double clicking on the Remove Wacom tablet icon or the Wacom tablet utility icon found in the Wacom tablet folder there.  Inside that removal utility you’ll want to click on the remove tablet software button and then enter your password to remove your current driver.  Once the driver has been removed you’ll then want to repair your disk permissions before installing the latest.  To do this if you open your Utilities folder at the bottom of your Applications folder, in there will be an icon for Disk Utility that you’ll want to double click on.  In the Disk Utility you’ll then want to select your Macintosh HD on the left hand side and then click the repair disk permissions button towards the bottom.  Once the permissions repair is complete you can then download and install the latest driver for your tablet from our website."
to no avail. Tried the process again, restarting the computer after repairing Disk Permissions and reinstalling newest tablet driver. No go.
Wrote Wacom Help Desk again. Will follow up here once I hear back.

  • Problem with using mouse scrollwheel within CS5?

Hey all.  Just upgraded my PS from CS3 to CS5, and I seem to be running into issues with the scrollwheel on my mouse.
When trying to use it from inside CS5 (say, inside a long 'Open...' window), it seems to lock up the entirety of Photoshop for a moment or two every few seconds.  Checking the net out there, it looks like there appeared to be a problem with mouse wheels, but that was supposedly fixed nearly a year ago.
I checked for any updates or patches, but the most recent update I can see on the Adobe site is to 12.0.4, which has me doubly confused, as my copy of CS5 say that it is version 12.1, which, theoretically, is a more recent copy...?
I can provide system info, etc. if needed, but since I have not found anything along these lines since a year ago, I'm guessing there's probably some simple thing I'm missing somewhere.
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve M

You mean Photoshop plugins?  No, the version of CS5 I'm having issues with is fresh as a daisy, just digitally downloaded and run for the first time earlier today.  I think my old copy of CS3 has some, however, although since they are not being loaded into CS5 (presumably) I'm guessing those wouldn't be the culprit.  If this helps any:

      Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon

L2 Cache (per processor): 12 MB
      Memory: 4 GB
      System Version: Mac OS X 10.5.8 (9L30)
I'm using a Logitech Performance Mouse MX.

  • Problem With File Crashing in Photoshop CS5

Hello I have a design file that  I just created in Photoshop CS5 last night. I went in to do some editing today and it keeps craahing within a few seconds of being opened. I have never had this problem with a file before and I need it to turn in at work.  ANy helpful ideas out there on what may be happening? It's happened at least twenty times now....

If you do a search, you will find several threads dealing with file corruption in CS5/ CS5.1. The long and short of it is, that the file is a goner, but feel free to try things like opening it in another program (Art Rage, Corel Painter, GIMP) or image viewer (XnView, ACDSee) to recover at least parts of it...

  • Problem with Text tool in Photoshop CS5

I just purchased PCS5 this morning and they told me that I should download the trial version till I get the actual CDs... I have Photoshop CS4 and never had any serious problems.  After downloading and installing CS5 it seems everything is working ok... however there are 2 problems...
    1. It does not interact with Bridge 4 (when I make changes in Bridge, CS5 does not see it)
    2. Any time I try to click on 'TEXT' tool icon, the application crushes... and I cant do anything... I have to restart the application.
Dont care much about 1st problem, but can't do without the 2nd one....
    Any ideas?
    Thanks a million in advance

    Hi
    Have you tried following solutions?
    - update Photoshop to 12.0.4
    - remove bad & duplicated fonts and clear system font caches
    - update or uninstall 3rd party font management application
    - remove all 3rd party plugins including font management application plugin
    - launch Photoshop 32bit mode

  • Problem with fading out particles in cs5

I have a problem with fading out particles or anything for that matter in my CS5 after effects!  I set up the key frames right.  O opacity at first and whatever number at next and it fades in fine,  But when I try to do the reverse it will not fade out and only stops the effect if I cut its durration at the red par representing it on the top of the time line. This produces and rough aburpt cut of the effect which will not due.  Please can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong that I can't fade out particles with opacity?

First question: What OS and what's the build of CS5.5?
Second question: What effect are you using? There are a bunch of ways to generate particles.
Last question: if you turn off the effect can you get the layer to fade out? Pressing Alt/Option + t will set a keyframe for opacity on your layer and reveal the keyframe in the time line. Do that, set the value to 0, then move down the timeline a few frames and set the value to 100. This should generate another keyframe. Now move down a few more frames and press Alt/Option + t or change the value for opacity to anything and then back to 100, or copy the previous keyframe and paste to set a 3rd keyframe. Finally move down a few more frames and set the value to 0. You should have 4 keyframes in your tlimeline for opacity. If you want to clean up the layer press Alt/Option + ] to set the out point for the layer.
Everything should work just fine. Turn on the effect and your layer and the effect should fade out.
If you want to do something else with the particles, like fade out a particle over the lifetime of the particle we'll need to know which plug-in you're using.

  • Problems with the 12.0.4 CS5 update aka poor support

In my 30 years as a technical support director for national and global companies I would have been fired long ago if the customer suport I provided was as bad as this has been. Love the products -- regret the support.
Since updating to 12.0.4 from 12.0.3 a number of 3rd party plug-ins have stopped working. In talking with the respective plug-in support teams they report that some of the conduits that pass information between LR3.4 and CS5 (12.0.4) are broken and that they are attempting to fix them.
I have now been on a weeklong thread with Adobe support in which offshore support offers me canned responses and never read my responses. Case in point. In my last interaction over the last few days I've asked how to revert back to 12.0.3. Instead of a direct answer they offered another solution to the problem.
Anyone else had similar issues? The problems I'm having issues with are NIK and OnOne plugins -- not all of them but just a few. I'd reinstall from my original disks but the I'd be back to 12.0.0.

I see some indirect problems with OnOne Software's Perfect Resize product.
I have been planning to send them a note, though I imagine they're already aware of the problems.

  • Controlling brush darkness with intuos5 pen pressure?

I just bought a pressure sensitve tablet (wacom intuos5 medium).
I want to set it up so I can practice "charcoal drawing" in photoshop without the mess. Specifically, I want the pressure to control the darkness of the brush tool, from very faint to completely black.
So, in the brushes window, I enabled "other dynamics" and set the flow control to pen pressure. It works but not very well. It's hard to draw a faint line, and faint lines appear to be made up of discrete circles.
I also try linking the opacity to the pen pressure, and set flow to 100%. This work better for faint lines, but I'm unable to draw a completely black line. It seems the opacity maxed out at about 40%. I don't want to apply too much pressure lest I break the tablet.
Is there a better way to set this up?

To avoid the visible circles you may have to reduce the Spacing (and subsequently maybe reduce the overall Flow).
Could you post screenshots of your settings and the resulting strokes (ideally applied tio a Path with »Simulate Pressure« checked, so allow for comparrison)?

  • Problem with my pen drive hp x705w

I Brought a hp x705w pen drive about 6 months ago. i am having a serious problem with .Now a days it is nt detecting in usb 3.0 port of my laptop . It is detecting in 2.0 port. PLZ Help me in solving this problem.
    thank you

    Two questions:
Will the USB drive work in another computers USB 3 port?
Will that USB 3 port work for other things?
Confirm that the USB 3 port is not dead. If it works, then the pen drives usb driver might be corrupted.
Remove the usb drive and uninstall all the hidden usb drivers:
Right click Computer and click on Properties. In the System window on the left side, click on Advanced System Properties.
Choose the Advanced tab and click on Environment Variables… button at the bottom.
Under System Variables, click on the New… button
Type this in the box that pops up. Variable Name: devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices and also give the Variable Value: 1
Click OK on all the open windows to close them out.
Go to Computer Management again and click on Device Manager. Go to View at the top of the window and click on Show Hidden Devices.
Click on the drop down arrow for Universal Serial Bus Controllers to open the list. Look for any USB Mass Storage Device that is hidden (greyed out) and delete it. There may be several and it’s ok to delete all those hidden USB Mass Storage Devices.
When you connect the pen drive to the computer again, give it a minute to reinstall the driver.
Let me know it works out for you.

  • Drawings with Wacom Pen Tablet in CS5

I am aged 66.One of my contacts(22yrs, who is an artist can visualise scenes and draw
sketches) and photographer(also doing 2nd year diploma in photography) has shown me the following
image and asked how could  this be created. I have reasonably good command in cs5(Why writting
reasonably is I find stalwarts here in the forum). I have basic exposure in AI by virue of purchasing
the Production premium CS5.I am sure best drawings are drawn in AI. I did  not till date seen how a
Wacom tablet works. The person for whom I am writting this is an upcoming personality with great zeal
for learning . With my little knowledge in Wacom pen Tablets, I told him that this can also be done
in Photoshop with Wacom Pen tablet.I want confirmation for my statement. I will be thankful if
someone states that brushes in CS5 are sufficient or any more are to be purchased if so links for it.__Bosu Babu

I'm just looking to get a Wacom Intuos 4 myself, so no practical experience here yet, but...

  • Problems with spry accordian widget in CS5

I am updating a client's website and am having problems with the spry accordian widget. I read that it has been replaced with jQuery in the latest version and am told I can modify my existing spry widgets but cannot add new ones. In trying to modify the existing widget I get error alerts. I guess adding a new accordian tab is not considered a modification of the existing widget. I only have CS5 version of DW. What to do?  Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Patricia,
you with your CS5 can continue to use the spry accordian widget BUT it's inopportune. I quote from different contributions of the forum: "Spry has been deprecated and is no longer officially supported by Adobe", “Adobe abandoned Spry late last year after CS6 came out. Future products will probably not contain any Spry so learning to use jQuery is a valuable skill to have for the future.” So I/we recommend you to switch to a jQuery library for your further requirements."
You may have a look here: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex17/ddaccordionmenu.htm, where you will find a wide range of different menus.

  • Problem with second display in premiere CS5

Hi. I have a problem with external device, I have Mac Pro with ATI radeon HD 5770 and two displays 24 LED display that is primary and second 27 LED cinema display, in Premiere on external device only none and DV 720 576 and no second display.

That's the thing, Steve.  Using the secondary monitor for playback, it should not be able to show any part of the desktop at any time.  It should show only black if nothing is playing, or it should show what is playing in one of Premiere Pro's monitors.  But never the desktop.

  • Loss of Cintiq pen pressure

    Hi,
I have come across some unexpected behavior when drawing with a Wacom Cintiq in Flash CC.  Here's what happens:
I draw like normal in a Flash file with pressure sensitivity on.
I open a new file (it can be an existing document or a new blank file, it doesn't matter)
I can draw like normal in the newly opened file with pressure sensitivity BUT...
In the first file I had open, pressure sensitivity and the pen's eraser functions no longer work.
The pen settings go back to normal after closing the second project.
I have been able to replicate this exact issue on three computers and three Cintiqs.  This is a problem for me and others I work with because we often need to have two or more files open at a time.
Here is some technical info about my setup:
    Windows 7 SP1
    Flash CC 13.1.0.226
    Latest Cintiq Drivers
Windows Ink is On in Wacom Properties
I have contacted Adobe numerous times regarding this issue and they can't seem to get through the bureaucracy of who I should speak with to solve my problem.  I'm waiting to hear back from a specialist now.  Has anybody experienced this and found a solution?
    Thanks!

    Hi Aleksandra Rogula,
This has been addressed in the latest build and we have released Flash Professional CC2014.2 couple of weeks back. Can you please install the latest build and let us know your experience?
