Problem with copying and pasting text blocks in Fireworks CS5
Until recently when I copied and pasted a text block in Fireworks CS5, the block would retain all formatting applied to the copied text block, font, size, color, etc. Now, the pasted block reverts to some default setting. Oddly, if I copy multiple text blocks, the formatting is retained as expected, but not if I copy a single text block. I cannot find a preference that affects this, and I cannot figure out what might have changed. The current behaviour is definitely not desired, and is dramatically affecting my efficiency. Anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas how to correct this? Thanks.
Sure, thanks for replying so quickly. My workflow is simple. My problem is limited to copying and pasting within Fireworks. I typically select an entire block with the main selection arrow but I sometimes use this one too depending on the context. I usually just use the keyboard CTRL-C then CTRL-V to paste. Previously (and I have been using FW for years, it's always been the same) it would paste an identical text block directly over the top of the copied one, and it looked exactly the same, same font, same color, etc. Now, it pastes a new block in the center of the document and all the formatting has reverted to what I guess is the default, in this case Myriad Pro 12pt. The behavior is the same no matter which arrow I use to select the text block. I tried Edit>Copy and Edit>Paste, the effect was the same. The Duplicate function seems to work as desired, but I had never noticed or tried that command before reading your post. Using the keyboard to copy/paste is such an ingrained habit I'd much prefer to continue using it as I always have instead of trying to retrain myself. (I'm old, retraining is hard!)

Most often I copy and paste directly on the canvas, but occasionally will do it within the layers panel. Both now have the same undesired effect. I also tried creating a new document to see if it was a corruption in my current file, but the issue persisted to the new document as well.

Problems with copy and paste document size
Using Adobe illustrator I have been copying images from a .pdf and then pasting in photoshop having made an action script which does : -
>Make New document
preset clipboard
>Paste
with aa
as: smart object

Translate 0, cm , 0cm

As JPEG

most of the time it works but occasionaly pasting into photoshop the clipboard size is wrong it makes it much much smaller,
even if i bypass using the script and copy from illustrator and in PS try Ctrl N and Ctrl V.
Sometimes also clipboard isnt even selectable it wants to use a specific document size.
The only way I can fix it is close down Ai and PS, launch Ai and PS, copy in Ai then in PS press Ctrl N for New, choosing clipboard, Ctrl V to paste enter to confirm, then it seems happy and I can then carry on using my Actions or manually pasting to my hearts content.
My question is what is causing it to have this quirk, how can I avoid it if possible or is there no avoiding it?>> How can I have dreamweaver hold format with

Generally a bad idea. Word's HTML formatting is notoriously
flawed. And,
HTML doesn't allow tabs. You probably need to take time to
learn (X)HTML &
CSS before going further. You seem to be headed for disaster
if you expect
to just grab text from Word and plop it into a web page with
good results.
Web pages are in an entirely different world than Word docs.

Update; As of now, i am able to copy and paste. Steps i have taken to correct issues i had before.
- I installed browser again, but issue came up again.
-I uninstalled Google Chrome browser, it recently showed up in my task manger when i was not using the browser. AnVir Task Manger showed it being in use, so i stopped the processor and uninstalled Google Chrome.

Problem with Copy and Paste in Edit
Today i cannot get Copy and Paste to operate. After highlighting a link in blue I cannot get the Copy to register. The link stays blue and does not respond to Copy click. I send links on Yahoo IM to friends of sites or Youtube videos. Thanx for the great help here!
I'm glad that is working again. Copy and Paste is such a fundamental operation, a computer is useless without it.

Can I cut, copy and paste a block of text in PL/SQL Developer?
I have been using TextPad to put together SQL statements by using the cut, copy and pasting of BLOCKS of text.
Example:
I copy the describe of a table, replace varchar, number, date will 10 spaces and then copy the column names in a block and paste it further down the TextPad.
Then I join the lines into one string, replace the spaces with commas
Then I insert in front of the column name the INSERT INTO table_name(
Then I get the values by copying from somewhere else and paste then in block text where they need to go. ETC, ETC.

and do multiple selections from code completion list of suggested emp columns (by holding ctrl or shift key). Same for "select" and "from" clauses (with optional auto aliasing). -

I usually have no problem copying and pasting text from a pdf using Preview ...
However .. I recently received a pdf ... and there is no way it will highlight the text to copy ...
The older pdf's are not affected ...
I did a get info on the pdf ... it's not locked ... and it was made by Adobe In Design CS2
I tried opening it with Adobe Reader 9 ...... but still no luck
IN my search .. I noticed one other person had the same problem ... but he didn't get any responses..

When I copy and paste text in facebook, the text looks fine until I hit 'share' or 'comment' to submit it. Firefox then adds indiscriminate line-feeds within the text and it looks nothing like the original text. It makes it very difficult to read and awful to look at.
This does not happen in Safari.
(Mac OSX 10.6.4 with Firefox 3.6.6).

http://Same problem, 3.6.8 and previous recent versions. I never thought to try another browser but I just pasted into IE and it worked fine. I copied from Firefox to IE and it worked as well. It's just when you paste into Firefox that you get the weird line breaks.

How to copy and paste text into email without HTML gibberish
I've had trouble for some time now copying and pasting text into and out of yahoo emails. I can't just copy and paste text, I have to first transfer to Word for Mac and then paste into a yahoo email. Then I end up with what looks like three lines of HTML gibberish at the start of the pasted text each time. Isn't there a clean and direct way of copy and paste of text into and from emails in yahoo? No other email I work with has this problem, and the Safari browser doesn't give this same issue

Anchor tag error, also copy and pasting text comes up "null"
After the recent update I am receiving anchor tag errors telling me to start with an alphabetic letter, which I was. Also no longer lets me copy and paste text onto a page, instead it says "null". Any ideas on a fix ?
I don't see a closing </body> tag in your code. There's an opening tag, but no closing tag, hence unbalanced.

How to NOT retain formatting when copying and pasting text
Captivate 7 keeps the formatting from my text sources when I paste into a Text Caption which is not what I need. Anything I could find in the forums where questions relating to "keeping" the source formatting. I don't want this, I want Captivate to keep its text formatting when I paste text into a text caption. I even did a test creating a new project and using one of the Cap 7 themes. If I paste text in the default capture caption style object, it retains the formatting of the copied text source. I have been working with Captivate 7 since a few months now and, until this morning, when I copied and pasted text from another source into my Captivate Text Caption, it retained the format of my Captivate Text Caption object. This is exactly what I need. How can I get this behavior back?

Well, first I would report it as undesired behavior and possibly ask for an enhancement that allows us to right-click and paste without formatting. Do this using the link below:

For now, you have a couple of options.
1. Perform a side trip. Open a text editor such as Windows Notepad or Apple Textpad and paste, then copy back to the clipboard. Then paste the text into the caption. (When pasting into the text editor, formatting is stripped)
2. On Windows machines, you can usually find a clipboard utility that allows you to paste as pure text. In fact, one such application is called PureText.

I have searched high and low for a way to copy and paste text from a web site in Chrome using the Xperia z3v. I've tried a long tap, a double tap, a triple tap - nothing works. I am able to select text, copy and paste it in a Word doc, however. There must be some way to do this on a web site in Chrome. I'm certain I am not trying to select text that is really an image.
