Problem with crashing Itunes & Quicktime

So i've been having this crashing problem with both programs for a while now. I've tried reinstalling on multiple occasions, both the new version and the previous.
I even went so far as to do a manual search through my registry and delete itune and quicktime reg keys.
Whats happening is when ever i try running either program, or attempt to view a mov file through a plugin in either, IE, Firefox, or Opera, it crashes each browser respectively.
I have also tried installing the stand-alone quicktime file. Which refuses to uninstall after installing when it doesn't work.
I end up having to delete it and clean up the registry afterwards using ccleaner.
Any ideas? This has been driving me nuts for a while and I hate having to avoid quicktime files like the plague.
Plus i'd really like to use itunes with my ipod again.
Thanks

I do not have a solution but wanted to post a note to tell you that I am having the exact same problems, and have had them on more than one PC -- as have many of my friends and relatives! I think the whole "using iTunes on a PC" issue is a red herring for Apple in that there are a LOT of crashes going on out there as people try to install/use iTunes, install/use the iPod the first time, update software, etc. -- and some of these crashes create serious, serious issues, all the way up to corrupting the whole OS -- that no one at Apple seems to be talking about. I personally have had to rebuild two of my PCs from scratch over the past 4 months after various iTunes/iPod-related crashes. One was as recent as three weeks ago, and since I have had the Apple Updater software take over post-rebuild, I am constantly having the issues you speak of.
The only anomaly I am experiencing currently beyond what you've described is that when I try to install the standalone QT -- directly from the Apple download site herein, by the way -- I am told a newer version(???) is already installed (I have never downloaded any Apple software from anywhere but the Apple site) and that I must first uninstall it if I want to install this standalone version -- all odd as this happens even if I've already uninstalled the entire iTunes/QT/iPod trifecta, rebooted my machine, and run a host of registry cleaners!
So you are definitely not alone ... and if I didn't love using the iPod as much as I do, I'd have punted the whole Apple experience long ago (on my PCs, that is).

  • Is there a problem with the itunes and quick time download pages or is it my internet.

Is there a problem with the itunes and quicktime download pages or is it just my internet.

Some more developments ... the issue appears to be browser-specific. I can't see the download controls at the moment in either IE 8 (I'll get your message) or Safari for Windows 5.0.5 (I'll just get the blank box). But I can see the download controls in Firefox 4 and Chrome (whatever version I have of that).
So it might be worth installing Firefox and seeing if you can get the downloads via that:

had a problem with my itunes so i had went on itunes website and reinstall itunes for windows and after it complete it said that the feature yoy are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable i need help please!!!!!!!!!

first, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. if it goes, good. if it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to itunes.
next, download and install the revo uninstaller http://http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html. use it to clear any existing itunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC.
next download itunes. it worked for me hope this is helpful!!
oonce you get into the revo uninstallergo thru to delete itunes hit uninstall on the itunes icon then you will go thru to it will tell u the same nmessage about the feature and network hit cancell then go thru and hit scan (make sure bthe advance scan button is pushed) this will take awhile but go thru the list and hit everything associated with itunes. hit delete then install itunes again. it worked for me hope it works for you!

  • Problem with my itunes - programme path cannot be found - can't uninstall

Hi I was wondering if anyone can help me...
I've got a problem with my itunes and I'm at a loss as to what to do!
I recently went to open itunes and as I did a message came up to say that itunes has not been properly installed and that if I want to burn cds etc, itunes needs to be properly installed. Firstly I don't understand why this message has come up as I have barely been on itunes over the past few weeks, in fact I've barely been on my laptop full stop. Secondly, when I have gone into control panel and then gone to repair itunes it says that itunes64msi path cannot be found, itunes is supposedly stored under my user and under 'app data' which is nowhere to be seen on my computer at all. I then tried to uninstall the programme completely and the same message came up. I then downloaded the newest version of itunes on the apple website but that couldn't be properly installed as there is already itunes on my system. I've also tried to remove the programme whilst in safe mode but haven't had any success.
SO confused as to what's gone on, don't understand how itunes is still a programme on my computer but appears to be wiped from my computer at the same time.
I'm running on a windows 7 64 bit operating system and if anyone could help me I'd be so so grateful!!

  • Problem with installing iTunes

So these are my problems with installing iTunes.
    At first it was :
A required iTunes component is not installed. Please repair or reinstall iTunes (-45019)
Then it got worse as it would not even open and these would appear:
The program can't start because AVFoundationCF.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
    and this would appear:
iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.
    Error 7 (Windows error 126)
I reinstalled maybe about 5 times or more...
If I thought I solved the above problem, this would appear:
iTunesHelper.exe is not installed on my computer.
I seen other people comment that you should unistall and restart the computer and install the setup again, but it does not work..
And others would say to repair the AAS or iTunes etc..
And after trying all these it does not work???
    What else works?

I also tried repairing the Microsoft NET.

I have a problem with the iTunes Store, I have an ipod and an iphone 2. I have a PC with Windows Vista Home Premium 2007, entering into iTunes Store on the main screen I get only AppStore, Podcast and iTunes U. In my screen I get only ipad2 Podcast, iTunes U Downloads. My problem is I can not access any application to download music, videos, books, etc..
ITunes will be installed wrong or what should I do to activate these options?

Go to the front page of the Store, and click Change Country.  Make sure it is set to the country where you actually are.
Then you will be able to see everything that is for sale in your country, which, depending where you live, might or might not include music.

  • How do I fix this problem with my iTunes?

I've been having problems with my iTunes for over a week now - since I tried to update to iOS 5 - and I've tried everything. I've had to uninstall iTunes multiple times and each time I have reinstalled it, there has been some form of error, the list seems endless. Today, I managed to get an older version to succeessfully install but when I tried to update to the newest version, this is what appeared on my screen after the 'install.'
"The procedure entry point AVCFAssetCreateWithByteSystemAndOptions could not be located in the dynamic link library AVFoundationCF.dll"
Any idea what this means, and/or how to resolve it?

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now?

Problem with my iTunes store, cannot search, stays in one application that I already purchased. Please help!

Go to Settings, Store, Apple ID, Sign out and then sign back in again and have another go.
Also, try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is app and data safe!

Im able to download the setup but it keeps on giving this message: there is a problem with this windows installer package. a program required for this  install this to complete could not be run
Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?
