  • Continuing problem with cursor jumping and more!

I had made a post about cursor jumping and thought I had solved the problem but it's back again with a twist. The cursor still jumps eratically in just about any program and will then settle down for awhile. What is also happening is the flyout tools in adobe photoshop and illustrator don't work properly or at all. I have tried trashing the preferences for illustrator and photoshop, repaired permissions, repaired the disk with disk utility- it says everything is fine. Now...... when I sartup off of my backup hard drive, everything is fine- cursor and all. Are there any ideas as to how I can solve the problem with my internal hard disk? I was told that I may have to wipe the hard disk clean and start over again. Are there any areas you can send me to that will help me do that?

I have this problem even before running this set up updates (not sure what version) so I have a hunch it may not be related to those updates (but not sure)..
.it started whem mine was new a few months ago and I am using a T410s....however  I am also running win 7 64bit....
I did re-ren the windows touchpad calibration and it seemed to get better (NOT CONCLUSIVE) as it is intermitant and just started again...it would happen often for spurts then stop (Few days happening often)...when I am in hotel rooms or places with steam it seemed to happen more (not sure if coincidence)...I did run the tablet input calibration in the control panel but not sure if it fixes it...I don't know if it is softare or hardware and it is very anoying and intermitant...exact same things....cursor jumps to right corner and tablet keyboard shows up in left corner even though no touch...and it closes some apps...as that is where the X is....if you find anything PLEASE let me know...thanks

  • Problem with Cursors in Photoshop CS4

I am only seeing partial cursors (i.e. semi-circles or truncated brush tips) for cursors when I enlarge the cursor size.  This is happening across all tools wherever I enlarge the brush tip.  I tried resetting the preferences and updating the video drivers with no luck.  I am running on Windows XP Professional on a Dell desktop using a Dell monitor that has an nVidia GEForce 8600 GTS video driver running version 6.14.11.5851.  I had updated the driver to the latest version but the PC became unstable, causing a system dump and "blue screen of death", so I rolled back to this version.  I also use a Wacom tablet with the setup.  It had been working fine and I am not aware of any changes to the system that would have caused this.  I have an open ticket with Adobe for about two weeks but so far the problem has not been resolved.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you updated Photoshop to vession 11.0.1?
Have you tried turning off OpenGL in preferences?

  • Problems with cursor and shortcuts when using JNLP services on MAC OS X

After invoking the JNLP services on a MAC I loose the ability to set the cursor and invoke keyboard shortcuts. On Windows this is not a problem, so I believe it is a bug and I have reported it to Apple. Meanwhile, I would appreciate if someone could help me with finding a work-around. To identify the problem run the following code with Java Web Start (i.e., you need to add the program to a jar and launch it using a JNLP script). You also need to include the javax.jnlp package.
Observe that the cursor changes to cross-hairs when entering the circle. After invoking the Open file menu item, the cursor does not change any longer. Shortcut key do not work either, but if you open the menu and close it again without selecting any of the menu items, the shortcuts are OK again.

Barbara, Thanks very much taking the time to respond to my posting. Your input and directions were just what I needed.I accessed the print settings in the pull down menu, setup the print options including the color profile for Elements and the Printer to sRGB, and printed my picture. This resolved all the invalid color problems I was having, but I did notice that there was a hint of magenta overall in the picture. I had read an article that said to use Canon Color Matching instead of Color Sync to prevent that but I couldn't make that change in the pull down menu. I tried in the Presets dialog box but that didn't appear to be possible. Should I make that change as well?
Also, in my travels through Elements 13 I notice under Edit->Color Settings that there were options for No Color Mgmt, Optimize for Screen, for Printing, or ability to chose one or the other (real time I assume). How do those options fit into this scenario?
    Thanks again

  • Problem with Cursor Query in forms

Encountered the symbol 'ORDER' when expecting one of the following:
    . ( ) * @ % & - + / mod rem with an exponent (**) and or group having intersect minus start union where connect ||
The symbol ")" was substitued for "ORDER" to continue.
I'm recieving this error in my form even though the query it runs off works fine in SQL*PLUS.
    The query is:
    SELECT *
    FROM (SELECT a, b FROM tableA WHERE a >= 18 ORDER BY a ASC)
    WHERE ROWNUM <= 8
    Any ideas?

rownum is evaluated before order by, that's why.
The SQL engine is out of date in forms6i.
What you can do is create a view with order by in the database side, then reference that view in forms.

  • Problem with CURSOR on Selection-Screen

    Hi Experts,
This question is for you. We have recently upgraded our system to 7.01 Stack 5 (Enhancement Pack 1).
The screen supplied by a custom transaction is quite behaving in a strange manner. Whenever we execute the transaction the CURSOR appears by default at the 3rd Radio button and the UP/DOWN keys present in keyboard are not working and we have to place it back to the correct position using Mouse. Our customer raised a Ticket to check this.
Please suggest a work around for this.I need to remove this cursor blink completely at the selection screen.
    Best Regards,
    lakshman.

    Hi,
Not sure to really get the issue... looks like your radiobuttons are not grouped properly and default is set on the third one...(?)
So just use the same radiobutton group for the three buttons and set the first one as default, either on selection screen or initialization level...
    Kr,
    Manu.

  • Problem with cursors in JDBC

    Hi,
    I'm new to JDBC.
I'm trying to insert data into an Oracle database.
I'm using the prepare statement and the update to commit the transaction.
But after inserting about a 100 rows into the database, it gives an exception that the max limit on cursors was reached.
Can anyone tell me how to work around this?
    Vishal.

Note that it's a good idea to close objects such as
statements, resultsets and your connection in aCreating a new connection is an expensive action, so it is not a good idea to close the connection after each statement execution. You should use a connection pool which manages connections to the database. The connection pool is built when your application starts, and during the program execution you can access the connections available in the pool without creating and destroying new connections every time you need to perform a database command.

  • Problem with JFrame and busy/wait Cursor

Hi -- I'm trying to set a JFrame's cursor to be the busy cursor,
for the duration of some operation (usually just a few seconds).
I can get it to work in some situations, but not others.
Timing does seem to be an issue.
There are thousands of posts on the BugParade, but
in general Sun indicates this is not a bug. I just need
    a work-around.
I've written a test program below to demonstrate the problem.
I have the problem on Solaris, running with both J2SE 1.3 and 1.4.
I have not tested on Windows yet.
When you run the following code, three JFrames will be opened,
each with the same 5 buttons. The first "F1" listens to its own
buttons, and works fine. The other two (F2 and F3) listen
    to each other's buttons.
The "BUSY" button simply sets the cursor on its listener
to the busy cursor. The "DONE" button sets it to the
    default cursor. These work fine.
The "SLEEP" button sets the cursor, sleeps for 3 seconds,
and sets it back. This does not work.
The "INVOKE LATER" button does the same thing,
except is uses invokeLater to sleep and set the
cursor back. This also does not work.
The "DELAY" button sleeps for 3 seconds (giving you
time to move the mouse into the other (listerner's)
window, and then it behaves just like the "SLEEP"
    button. This works.
Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

I've had the same problems with cursors and repaints in a swing application, and I was thinking of if I could use invokeLater, but I never got that far with it.
I still believe you would need a thread for the time consuming task, and that invokeLater is something you only need to use in a thread different from the event thread.

  • Cursor problem with dialogs

    Hello all!
I'm having this problem with cursors:
I have a frame, and when an action in process, a modal dialog is displayed with the message "Please wait...". During the operation I set the cursor of the modal dialog and the frame to "Cursor.WAIT_CURSOR".
My problem is that only when the mouse is over the modal dialog, only then the cursor is WAIT_CURSOR (I want to be WAIT_CURSOR all over the frame). Most probably this is because the frame is not active (because of the modal dialog) and so the cursor is not changed there.

stebou, adammc, welcome to the forum,
you could try turning off the touchpad tapping feature, or reducing it's sensitivity. It maybe that you are brushing the touchpad whilst typing. Using the Fn + F8 key combination will get you to the UltraNav settings.
    Hope this helps

  • Potential problems with using a report to run a commit in a separate LUW.

I am working with a classic Badi within a transaction where I wanted to commit some information to a database before the commit that occurs at the end of the transaction.
Putting a commit point directly inside the BADI caused problems with cursors that were open inside the transaction, so I researched some and discovered that Report Programs can run in a separate database Logical Unit of Work (LUW).
I coded my BADI to call a report which does some database work based on input parameters, and then commits this work to the database before returning control back to the calling BADI function.
Does anyone know of any potential problems from doing this?  It seems like a good way to get around restrictions on the use of commit points inside transactions, but I'm not sure if there could be potential undesired effects from doing this.
    Has anyone tried this before?

    Hi Clay,
Yes I did it too. We faced some issues with commit when using fm HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION . We had to enclose it in separate report which only then let us do physical change in DB.
What is to be noticed here as well is (according to SAP) that DB commit is triggered each time work process is released which happens when:
    - system shows dialog message
    - RFC call is executed
    - new transaction is called
The above however didn't work for me in couple cases, but using separate SAP LUW solves the problem (as you already read). This happens each time:
    - new report is called (SUBMIT ...),
    - new transaction is called (CALL TRANSACTION ...)
    - new asynchoronus RFC call is executed (CALL FUNCTION...STARTING NEW TASK).
This approach works fine for cases I met and had to overcome with such solution. So far we didn't face any issues with that. Works perfectly

    Marcin

Very simple...Drop all type objects and nested tables and create them again. You will get no error. I'll explain the reason later.

  • [Solved] Problem with mouse cursor gnome3

    Hi
I moved back to Archlinux after a brief stay in LMDE, and test the new GNOME3, I am unpleasantly surprised that after a while the mouse is moving himself toward the top of the screen. I searched the internet, and seems to be a problem with the gnome-shell for some time, but I am not able to find the solution.
Momentarily solved by restarting gnome with ALT + F2 + r + Enter, but after a while, same thing happens again.
Can be well with photography programs, but of course if you do not solve this issue, GNOME, I can not use
Can you give me a helping hand?
    Thanks and regards

I don't know about Gnome, but my laptop had that problem.  I tracked it down the 3d accelerometer being used to simulate a joystick.  Of course, I also had (previously) set up another joystick to operate as a mouse.  In the end, the cursor "drifted" when the laptop was not level
    YMMV

  • Having a problem with Firefox using Hotmail email. Inbox - as checking messages it freezes up or a 1 item window follows cursor and does not allow you to enter

I am having a problem accessing Hotmail email messages via Fireflox server. When I am in the Inbox, reviewing messages, it either freezes up or a "1 item" small icon window follows cursor and does not allow me to enter messages or do anything. Have to log off and start over. Suggestions>?

Can you detect any pattern to it, whether related to messages with attachments, or particular advertising on the page, etc.?
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    1. Clear Firefox's Cache
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
    2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
(Usually the dialog will refer to live.com rather than hotmail.com, that's normal.)
Then try reloading the page and logging in again. Does that help?

  • Problem with Latches and Parallelising PL/SQL Cursors

In 9i i have process that do the following:
    PROCEDURE LoadClients IS
      CURSOR cChanges IS
        SELECT ...
WHERE MOD(PK,pnTotalJobs>) = pnThisJob To call this I do the following
      nTOTALJOBS CONSTANT := 2;
    BEGIN
      FOR i IN 1..nTOTALJOBS LOOP
        DBMS_JOB.SUBMIT(LoadClient(pnTotalJobs=>nTOTALJOBS, pnThisJob=>i-1));
      END LOOP;
COMMIT;So by changing the value of the constant - nTOTALJOBS - I can control the number of instances of LoadClient that run. This means I only need one procedure which can be called multiple times, making maintenance simpler than having multiple procedures.
This process has been running successfully on several procedures of over a year. However recently I have been having trouble with latches in memory. I think these are related to using the variables in the cursor and part of the oracle treating the different queries as being identical. This results in locks in memory and none of the jobs running. In most cases I'm setting nTOTALJOBS to 2. I'm looking into the further with my DBAs.
    My questions are:
    1. Has anyone come across this sort of problem before?
    2. If so is there something I can do in my code or DB parameters to alleviate or test this?
    Notes.
    1. The process uses row by row processing in PL/SQL This done to get row by row error handling. I'm not going to change this in the short-term
    2. The SQL does a call over a database link, I don't know if this has any effect.
    3. This method does have a proven performance benefit
    4. The code snippets above are just illustrative, I'm not asking for syntax corrections.
Thank you for taking the time to read through this.

I would first investigate the "problem with latches" to be sure that it has anything to do with these jobs that you are submitting.
Your concern seems to be "because I am submitting multiple copies of the same PLSQL procedure to run concurrently, am I running into latching issues ?".
Take a step back and look at
    a. MultiUser OLTP environments : At any time you can have more than a few users running the same SQL queries submitted through Forms / Client Frontends.
    b. ERP Report Extractions (eg in Oracle EBusiness Suite or Peoplesoft) : At any time (say during the daily batch runs ?) you can have multiple copies of the same report (with different bind variables for different business_units / countries etc) running concurrently and extracting reports.
The question would be : How many concurrent executions of the same code is too much ?
I would say that latching issues come up on :
    a. Shared Pool : Multiple sessions attempting to load SQL statements and Parse SQL statements
You could reduce some of this with reusable SQLs and bind variables instead of literals in quick running jobs / user front end screens etc
    b. Buffer Cache : Hot Blocks being frequently pinned -- eg index root blocks or "busy" table blocks.
If you are running, say 4-8 concurrent copies of the the same code on a 4 CPU or 8 CPU machine, you may not be running into latching issues on the code -- "may not be" -- we can't be too sure, until we identify which latches are under "issue".
However, if the queries are executing nested loops and frequently accessing the same index blocks, you may more likely be having issues with latches on cache buffer chains.
So, this is what I would suggest :
    a. Identify the size and scale of the "issues" -- how much CPU time / wait time is accounted for by the latches in relation to the total response time of each of the jobs
    b. Identify which latches are the ones under contention
