Problem with default converter in JSF facelet
Hello,
I stuck with strange JSF java.lang.ClassCastException: java.lang.String cannot be cast to java.lang.Integer, when I try to use abstract class with generic. My code:
ObjectClass.java
public abstract class ObjectClass<T> {
public abstract T getFieldValue();
public abstract void setFieldValue(T fieldValue);
}IntClass.java
public class IntClass extends ObjectClass<Integer> {
private Integer fieldValue;
public Integer getFieldValue() {
return fieldValue;
public void setFieldValue(Integer fieldValue) {
this.fieldValue = fieldValue;
}TestBean.java
@ManagedBean(name = "TestBean")
public class TestBean {
private IntClass intClass = new IntClass();
public IntClass getIntClass() {
return intClass;
}test.xhtml
<h:form>
<h:outputLabel value="Integer value:" />
<h:inputText value="#{TestBean.intClass.fieldValue}" />
<h:commandButton type="submit" value="Set" />
</h:form>When I try to enter numeric value into a field and submit, I get java.lang.ClassCastException error:

That looks like a doozy. My first thought is that it has something to do with reflection but that doesn't tell me what to do about it. I would consider taking it to the Mojarra development mailing list or even filing a bug report.

Problem with unit converter widget
I am having a weird problem with my unit converter widget on 10.4.9.
I re-installed my system, and now when I go to open the unit converter widget, I can no longer see the British pound currency, there are all these othere European currencies.
Is there anyway to get the British pound currency back, do I need to re-install the widget, and how do I do that.Then I'd try removing & reinstalling it...

If it's one that came with OSX, you may have to get pacifist to extract it from your install Disk. -
Table editor problem with default value for column
Hi there,
I'm trying to use SQL Developer 1.2.1 on Ubuntu 7.10 (though I don't think the OS is relevant) and I'm running into a snag when trying to update table structures. If you go to edit the table to say modify a column name, and that column has a default value set, SQL Developer is encapsulating the value with brackets and quotes. When trying to save the changes, it complains about the default value being 4 chars too many for the column width. An example of this would be a currency code column of varchar2 (3) set with EUR as the default. SQL Developer changes the value to ('EUR') hence the error.
Is there anyway to prevent this from happening?
Cheers,
ChrisCould you please be more specific? In 1.2.1.32.40 I
added the column COL1 VARCHAR2(3) with default value
'EUR'. The data display field refreshed to show the
default value, so I edited it in a couple of entries
and comitted the change without problem. Then I
renamed the column from the "Edit table" popup menu.
Finally, I renamed the column from the "Rename
column" popup menu, no problem either.Ah, you are correct. That does work. What I was trying is select tablename in the object browser, then right click on it and select "Edit" from the contextual menu. You are then presented with edit table dialog box. If you then select a column in that box you will see a column properties box. In that section you can change the name, default value, datatype et cetera. Note that your default column value which should just be EUR (or 'EUR' to denote that it's a string) is now ('EUR'). Once you try changing the name to of the column to something else and then click OK, you should then get an error complaining of "Invalid varchar2 default value" with a more specific message of "Default values size 7 is greater than the allowed 3"
You have provided a work around, and thanks for that, but it would be nice to edit everything in the Edit table dialog box if you're modifying more than one column name. I'm tasked with cleaning up a bit of a messy database, and there are a good deal of columns to be renamed.
Cheers,

Problem with default file access permission
Hi,
I am accessing a common area '/NFS_DATA' by both my java and oracle codes by the users 'javaUsr' and 'oraUsr' respectively.
As per the requirement, the oracle code (oraUsr) needs to create some file in the specified location and then the java code (javaUsr) needs to update those files (created by oraUsr) with some new data.
At present scenario the 'oraUsr' creates files with default access permission 644, which does not permit 'javaUsr' to update them.
Constraints : I am not supposed to set umask at the .profile of 'oraUsr'.
Execution of any shell script from oracle procedure is not permitted.
Is it possible to specify file-system specific default file access permissions??
Any idea to overcome this issue??Hi,

man setfacl(1)
as oraUsr
setfacl -s user:oraUsr:rw-,user:javaUsr:rwx,group::r--,other:---,mask:rwx file
This way the oraUsr can not execute file
but javausr can
getfacl will show the ACL

Problem with defaulted date but only in workbook
Hi all,
I have a weird date problem here. One of my queries has a "key date" which I default to the current date in the variable user exit. When I run the query, it works fine. However, when we run the workbook, things go wrong. With my date settings (DD.MM.YYYY), there is no issue, but the end users all have the American date setting (MM/DD/YYYY). Whenever one of them runs the workbook, we get an error before the variable screen is shown. The error message is as follows:
Please enter value in permitted format for variable Key Due Date.
Value "" for variable "" is invalid.
Program error in class SAPMSSY1 method: UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION
System error in program CL_RSR_XLS_WORKBOOK and form SERIALIZE: 01 (see long text)
As soon as I change the end user's date settings, the workbook runs fine.
Any clue?
RafBseems to be linked to user specific date settings... pretty weird as SAP should automatically convert according to the user settings

Problem with JTree converting Node to string
I have a problem that I cannot slove with JTree. I have a DefaultMutalbeTreeNode and I need its parent and convert to string. I can get its parent OK but cannot convert it to string.
thisnode.getParent().toString() won't work and gives an exception
thisnode.getParent() works but how do I convert this to string to be used by a database.
Thanks
Peter LooYou are using the wrong method to convert it to a String array.
Try replacing this line:
String[] tabStr = (String[])strList.toArray();
With this line:
String[] tabStr = (String[])strList.toArray( new String[ 0 ] );
That should work for you. -
Problem with index.jsp and JSF
hi all
I have an index page "index.jsp" in the root directory of deployed project and in that page there is just a <jsp:forward> tag:
<jsp:forward page="pages/mainPage.jsf" />I am using facelets and I have a template.xhtml
when I run the browser nothing will be desplayed. by looking at Tomcat console, it seems that it renders the template.xml. if I place the path of the page directly in the address bar of browser, everything is OK
http://localhost:8080/myproject/pages/mainPage.jsf
but if I put following, it doesnt work.
http://localhost:8080/myproject/
I set the welcome-page to index.jsp in web.xml, and my pages are located in a directory namely "pages"
any help will be appreciated.
regards
MohammadI'm not sure what the problem is exactly. This topic might help though:

Be sure to read right to the bottom. You may be able to try a couple other things.
Hope this helps,

Problems with Default Encoding in Mail
I have been trying to change my default encoding settings in Apple Mail to Unicode-8. It has become necessary because some of the outlook clients that my colleagues use see my messages with control-characters/question marks. I know that this problem has been visited before and from the past posts I understand that closing the Mail and typing the following in the Terminal will do the trick:
defaults write com.apple.mail NSPreferredMailCharset "UTF-8"
I tried that several times and for some reason when I try to compose a new message, the encoding is set to "Automatic".
I would appreciate ANY help in this regard. I have been trying to get more information on this but my search has not yet been fruitful.
Thank you very much.
MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.7)I do have the same problem as Steathford do, I tried
to add a dingbat without success (scissor), I still
have same "chinese signs everywhere",
I've never seen a case where the dingbat did not work. Could you send me an example? You need to go to your Sent folder, choose a message where you did this, and do Message > Send Again, and replace the original addressee with my email (tom at bluesky dot org).
When adding a dingbat, you must use the Character Palette as shown here, and not just change your font.

Multiple ALV Grid Controls per report - problem with default displ.variant
Hi,
I have a report with few screens called sequentialy. Each one of the screens has implemented own instance of ALV Grid Control within custom container, means:
- screen 100 has container Cont100 and grid control "grid100",
- screen 110 has container Cont110 and grid control "grid110"
- screen 120 has container Cont120 and grid control "grid120"
and so on...
Each one of the grid controls is initialized with own field catalog table, with own layout and variant structure definitions. My problem occurs when the user changes the display variant for some of the grid controls and save the layout variant using "default setting" checkbox. In this case next time the program is started all other grid controls behaves like they don't have their own variant definitions, but uses the default setting of the mentioned screen. This leads (usualy) to unsuable grid controls by default, because usualy different controls have no equal field-definition tables. I have the same behaviour even when there are more than 1 ALV grids on a single screen (for example - 2).
For now I don't provide variant variables at selection screen, but it seems there is no way to provide such variables for each one of the grid-controls.
Is anyone aware how to control this? Means no matter if there is default setting in use for some of the grid-controls, how to manipulate other grid-controls not to use this default setting?
Many thanks in advance.
Regards,
Ivaylo Mutafchievcheck this sample code which displays 4 grids in 4 different tabs and with 4 different handles

Problem with cineon converter in CS5.5?
I was wondering if anyone has encountered this problem when going from log to lin and back to log in CS 5.5.
As a test, I import a 10-bit log cin or dpx file into CS 5.5 and apply 2 instances of the Cineon Converter effect with the following settings:
1st Instance:
Conversion Type: Log to Linear
10 Bit Black Point: 95
Internal Black Point: 0
10 Bit White Point: 685
Internal White Point: 1
Gamma: 1.70
Highlight Rolloff: 0
2nd Instance:
Conversion Type: Linear to Log
10 Bit Black Point: 95
Internal Black Point: 0
10 Bit White Point: 685
Internal White Point: 1
Gamma: 1.70
Highlight Rolloff: 0
Project = 32bpc
Working Space = None
Blend Colors Using 1.0 Gamma = Off
File Interpretation = Full Range
These settings should take my image from log to lin and back with no loss of information. Unfortunately, the under-black information in the image does not survive the conversion process. I've tried several different log images and get the same results. Using the classic cineon "Marcie" calibration image as my test image illustrates this problem perfectly. All of the black that surrounds marcie shifts to a dark gray after the conversion process instead of returning to black.
Doing this same test in CS3 and CS4 works as expected - there is no loss of information. Under-blacks, over-whites and all normal range values are preserved.
Any ideas?
thanks
- cdYes we are having the exact same problem, the blacks shift and/or clip in CS5 and 5.5 but not CS3. This is a big problem for our workflow. Was there ever an answer to this?

Problems with default domain with Weblogic 9.1 server
Hi,
Today I've been installing Weblogic 9.1 on our Red Hat (CentOS 4) server. After good experiences with BEA Weblogic local on my Windows machine I'm trying it on the server.
But after installing Weblogic and setting a default domain (automagicly generated) and trying to logon to the Admin Console I run into a problem.
When I login with false ID I it gives me a security alert and doesn't let me in, but if I login with the correct name+password it doesn't say anything but redirects me to the same login-page again...
I'm out of ideas on what it could be, and the biggest problem is that its the default domain it creates when I run the bin. Any ideas on what settings could do this?Ah, found some more information!
When I try to login with the ip adres it works but not when I use the hostname. Now I have a good indication on where to look to solve the problem.

Hello,
so far i have managed to write some Applets and install also Cap files on a Card.
But i am not able to install my own created cap files...
My Environment ist the following:
My OS is Windows Vista
I am using JavaCard 2.1.1 (Cause my Stick has only it)
I am using JCDE 0.1 for JavaCard 2.2.2
The Card is GloablPlatform compatible :-) (i think all javacards are,or??)
I am using GPShell to install Caps.
The applet is written in JCDK 2.1.1
I can install some Test Caps. (Caps i got form another Hompage like wrankl.de)
I am writing more or less the same code as the test Caps.
I am converting the Applet with JCDE and i am testing it with JCDWE. So far no problem at all.
But as soon as i want to Install the Cap i am getting the following error:
Response: 6438 unknown ISO Error. (0x80206438)
In the first place the installation looks fine but than it interrupts with this error...
If i want to convert the applet by hand i am getting only strange envrionment errors like jre1.6 was not found or something like this.
The problem is that it looks like the global variable is defined well but the error says otherwise.
So if anybody as an idea about:
- my global variable problem in windows vista
- what the error 6438 means or stand for
- if there exists a better eclipse plugin to wrap the jcdk tools
- if there exists another cap converter
I would be really grateful.
Thanks & Bye
McUrbanIn answer to your question regarding the SW you are seeing this might help (or at least explain what it is).
From ISO7817-4:
===============================
*8.6.1 Triggering by the card*
SW1-SW2 set to '62XX' with the value of 'XX' from '02' to '80' means that the card has a query of 'XX' bytes
that the interface device should retrieve and for which the card possibly expects a response.
SW1-SW2 set to '64XX' with the value of 'XX' from '02' to '80' means that the card aborted the command; a
possible completion of the command is conditioned by the recovery of a query of 'XX' bytes, for which the card
possibly expects a response.
If present in the historical bytes with a value such as above, SW1-SW2 shall be interpreted as above.
If a PUT DATA command (see 7.4.3) for transmitting a reply is aborted with SW1-SW2 set to '64XX', then
--- with '64XX' from '6402' to '6480', the card wants to send at least one more query of 'XX' bytes;
--- with '64XX' set to '6401', the card is expecting an immediate response.
===============================
This may not help very much but it basically means that the applet is expecting something to happen. If this is not your applet it may be hard to determine what is required.
I am not too sure about your other problems as I am using JCDK 2.2.1 under Windows XP. You may need to ensure that when running the converter by hand that both JAVA_HOME and JC_HOME are set in your environment variables. You should try running from a command prompt and run the following commands to see if they are set correctly:
echo %JC_HOME%
echo %JC_HOME%You may also want to try using an older version of Java to compile your classes. I know that JCDK 2.2.1 does not work if you don't set the source and target level to 1.3.
I hope this helps,
Cheers,

Problem with default program to open certain files.
My MacBook came with a trial version of Microsoft Office built in. Having already purchased a full version, I uninstalled the trial and installed the full version. The problem I am having is that when I go to open a Word document, it tries to open it with the trial version of Word that is no longer there. I tried changing the default program in Finder but it keeps switching back, thus giving me errors every time I try to open a Word document. If you could help it would be greatly appreciated. If you need more information, let me know.
MacBook Mac OS X (10.4.7)Pre-wife is not a term I am familiar with but I guess I catch your meaning .
It sounds like your Launch Services database may be corrupt. Try downloading a copy of Cocktail (shareware, but I think you can try it) and in the System pane, select Misc tab and click on the button to rebuild the Launch Services database. In rare cases, this database (which the Finder uses to maintain file associations) can get messed up.

Big problem with DNG converter
Hi
I would like to convert all my RAW CR2 canon to DNG (The format RAW CR2 change every time) and work with my PSE
I downloded DNG converter 6.5 and make a test but there is a big problème, the date of the .dng is not the date of the RAW, it's date of the convert...for me, it's impossible i want keep the original date.
Please, could you help me......
Thanks
Renérene_ladole wrote:
The problem is that the file date is changed by dng converter, when I want to rename the file with DNG as a parameter of the date of creation of the photo, the renamer is in the name of the date of creation dng, it can not go to my ranking of my photos ....
There are three potential dates with a digital capture, the Date/Time the file was created, the date/time the file was modified and the EXIF metadata Date/Time Original which is recorded by the camera at the moment of exposure. It is this final Date/Time that you would want to use in a name. Any time you create a new file–which is what DNG Converter is designed to do, you'll get a new date/time of that file's creation. That's not something the DNG Converter can change. If you take the DNG into ACR/Lightroom and modify the settings, you'll get a new date/time of the modification. However, the EXIF metadata will still correctly indicate the moment the capture was created in the EXIF Date Time Original tag.
So, what are you using to rename the files? If you are using Bridge to rename the file, the Date Time option when set to Date Created should be using the EXIF Date Time Original tag as the source of the date/time. Other apps should also be able to be set to use the EXIF Date Time Original tag. -

I can't find a way to get back my normal view. Like i sad, if i open a new project it works fine for some time.
Thanks for all the help!!
AndrejHi,
- which release of JDeveloper?
- Does restarting JDeveloper help ?
Didier Laurent blogged about this issue:
- http://blogs.oracle.com/Didier/2006/11/22#a162
- http://blogs.oracle.com/Didier/2007/02/26#a144
Another source of the problem could be Servlet filters or custom PhaseListeners with dependecies to the runtime environment. This will all be fixed in JDeveloper 11
However, in your case it sounds that re-starting JDeveloper fixes the problem. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Frank
