Problem with diatsant haze in landscapes

Subject should read "Problem with distant haze..."
Typically, its a sunny day and hills etc. in the distance are covered in a slight haze due to moisture in the air. Still photographers use a glass filter to counteract that but I have heard that they do not seem to work in video, for some reason.
If they do, what sort: UV, polarizing, and in the last, circular on not?
Thanks.

Hi Steve,
A UV(0) or UV(1) filter would be a good idea to have on your lens at all times, for the reasons outlined by Ian and Al. Both provide a bit of haze reduction, with the UV(1) providing a bit more than the UV(0).
You could also use a Skylight 1A filter. It will provide more haze cutting and won't affect the color temperature of your video.
For a stronger effect you might consider a Tiffen #812 Color Enhancing Filter. It absorbs even more of the blue (thereby cutting haze further), for subjects in the shade improves skin tones and (in my opinion) results in something akin to the vivid saturation of films like Ektachrome VS or the vivid color setting in the Canon Powershot cameras.
Too bad you're not filming in black & white, you could use a #25 Red and cut right through that haze <grin>

  • Word 2007 mail merge : problem with mixed portrait and landscape orientations

    Hi there,
    I have a 3 pages document Word 2007 file
This is a mail merge I want to export in PDF using Adobe Acrobat Printer,
then send "big" PDF to printing.
    page 1 is PORTRAIT
    page 2 is PORTRAIT
    page 3 is LANDSCAPE
In PDF pages 1 and 2 are perfectly fine, inside an A4 format (width=210 height=297mm or something)
but for page 3, system changed to a "double" sized page (A3 width=297 height=420) and printed my stuff at the 1st top middle of big page.
So I have a big "double" sheet, oriented PORTRAIT, with my stuff in 1st half, and a blank in 2nd half.
It seems that system did not rotate the page... and just put the stuff into a bigger sheet to "solve" at best.
I would like the same size of paper (A4) but in landscape : width=297 height=210
I have already seen many PDF with mixed portrait and landscape orientations, so what's the thing ?
    With my advanced thanks,
And greetings from Paris, France !
    Vince

    Some questions:
Which version of office were you using before? 2003?
Are the data files on a network, or on your local machine? If they are on a network, can you make a copy of one of them on your local machine and try again?
Can you open the files directly in Excel? What extension do they have (.xls, or something else?) I am wondering whether access to other file types has been left blocked on your machine but is allowed on your colleague's machine.
Are you just opening the mail merge main document and seeing this message? If so, do you see the same thing if you start with a new document and try to connect to one of these data sources?
Can you confirm that the message is about Access even though you are trying to connect to an Excel file?
(Also, office 2007 has some new stuff - that let's you specify that certain folders are "trusted" . I don't think that ever affected MailMerge but it may be as well to make sure that your documents and data sources are in trusted locations).
Also worth trying to start Word in "Safe mode" - see, e.g. http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/word-help/work-with-office-safe-modes-HP010140792.aspx

  • Problem with Print Window in Landscape

    Hi,
I am using "Print Window" menu option of LabVIEW to print Visible area of Front Panel. When I select printer setting for Portrait printing, the print is fine and same as visible on screen. However when I change printer setting to Landscape, the lower portion of screen(on print out) is cut. Also screen is displaced on print. This abnormal behaviour also changes if I change margins but it never vanishes.
I have tried changing "Tools >> Options >> Printing" to Bitmap from LabVIEW. This corrects the problem but now the print resolution is extremely poor.
I am using screen resolution of 1024x768 on LCD monitor. The screenshots of two situations are attached. Please help me getting out of this trouble. I am using LabVIEW 8.6 initially installed in Evaluation mode and now working in Base Licensed mode. However the results are same.
    Thanks & Regards

I am also having a similar problem printing a VI.  I'd like to print out some barcodes but some of them are printing with poor resolution.  It prints out a few of the control using full resolution true type, and the others are in screen resolution.  I'm using LV8.5 but I think I've seen this problem in other new versions.
A printout in pdf is attached.
    Thanks,

  • Problem with rotation and landscape mode in iOS 8

From start of iOS 8 I have got problem with rotation in my iPhone 5S 32GB as well as in my iPad mini retina 32GB. Automatical rotation to landscape mode is not working correctly. For example if you take the phone or tablet to landscape mode in base display and tap to Safari, Mail, Messages, the app will start but stay in normal mode, not landscape. Then you have to back the phone to normal portrait mode and back to landscape and only then the phone do the landscape mode. I have never seen this problem in iOS 7 or older.
Could you help me anyone with this problem? Or is the problem generally in iOS 8.
    Thanks a lot
    Jakub

Brian, thanks, but it's not a rotation lock issue - at least not relating to the rotation lock setting. It's just a general use setting. Right now i have my iPhone propped in landscape mode. If I now hit the home button, essentially returning to a portrait setting though my phone is still positioned in landscape, then open any other app that supports landscape, that app WILL NOT orient itself to landscape mode. It will stay in portrait mode. The phone has to be physically oriented to portrait, then back to landscape for the app to register landscape mode properly. This is a glitch, and not a rotation lock issue. it ought to be noted that this was not an issue in iOS 7 or any previous iteration.

  • Landscape Problems with Crystal Reports 2008 SP3

My initial install of Crystal Reports 2008 was SP2 (12.2.0.290).  After installing SP3 and Fix Pack 3.3, I started to experience problems with reports in landscape orientation.
The reports are set up as 11x8.5 in landscape.  They are loaded into a third party application that uses a Crystal Reports reviewer.
For some printers, the reports will reset to the 11x17 page size in portrait.  For others the reports stay at 11x8.5 landscape.
The reports are typically set up with the "No Printer (optimize for screen display)" option active, but I tried a wide range of options including setting the "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" as the reference printer to activating the "Dissociate formatting Page Size and Printer Paper Size" option.  None of this helped.
I backed out FP3.3 and that did not help.  After I backed out SP3, the problem went away.  It seems like something changed in the SP3 release that is causing this issue.
What's the best way to communicate this to SAP?  I would like to see this fixed in a future patch.

  • Interactive PDF Form in Landscaped Page; Problems with Additional Pages

    Please see the attached screenshot.
I created a form (in Word) which has 10 pages of the exact same fields except for the side number (the 10 pages number from 1 to 200) which numbers each line to be filled out by the end user.
I have created each field for page 1 (no easy feat as Acrobat 11 did not recognize most of the necessary fields) and all of the checkboxes must be grouped so that only one checkbox is able to be picked.  When I try to distribute each of the fields to the other 9 pages, or even if I copy and paste the fields to page 2, then the fields turn portrait rather than landscaped and I am unable to rotate them.
I have tried extracting page 1, rename it to page 2, update the numbering scheme (which throws everything out of alignment), and then reinsert it behind page 1, and again, it rotates the landscaped fields to portrait.
Is there any way possible for me to EASILY recreate this page nine more times (I have already spent approximately 10 hours working on this one page getting everything created and lined up correctly)?
In doing some research yesterday, I saw that this was a software limitation issue and that Acrobat does not allow fields in landscaped pages to be recreated as landscaped fields (I do not have this problem with the same type of form created in portrait pages and can distribute fields all day long through pages and pages of PDFs.
Does anyone have any suggestions or guidance that I can draw upon other than having to create each page separately (I just do not have the time as the one page took me about 10 hours)?
    Thank you so much!

    That's very disappointing ...
    Thanks Bernd, for your answer!

  • Problems with portrait/landscape alignment at DIA show.

Problems with portrait/landscape alignment at DIA show.
At DIA show the landscape / portrait alignment is mixed up some times, and getting worse if I go forward backward. Also the size is sometimes not correct. I have roughly 2000 pictures. If I see the pictures in normal sorting view or the working view, it is fine. I am using mac book air. OS and iPhoto using the latest version. I am using German language. I expect this problem has come with iPhoto 11. Before it was working fine.
I have already written a mail to apple, maybe I get a replay. But maybe somebody could tell me how to fix this problem. I have tried to fix this with iPhoto Library manager without success.
    BR
    Gode

What version of iPhoto do you have? 9.4.1?  And which theme are you using for your slide show in iPhoto? Is it one of the new themes designed for a mixture of portrait and landscape photos, like "Holiday Mobile" or "Scrapbook"?
It lloks like your library has a corruption.
I have tried to fix this with iPhoto Library manager without success.
Have you also tried the built-in library first aid tools? See:  iPhoto 6 and later: Rebuilding the iPhoto library

  • Problems with landscape mode

    Hi,
I've a problem with my iPhone 3G. In apps like notes, sms or even ipod, it doesn't rotate in landscape mode. But in "not apple apps" the accelerometer is working. I've tested it with Labyrinth LE.
After restoring the device it doesn't rotate too.

    I have the same problem.
Apple apps (Mail, Safari, Calculator) don't rotate at all (portrait only). They were rotating correctly before.
3rd party apps (Labyrinth, BubbleLevel, Accelerometer Graph) can rotate to portrait and landscape correctly, so this shouldn't be a hardware problem.
    Maybe caused by OS update?

  • Problem with Ipad3 landscape position

I have a strange problem with my Ipad. When I open a particular page (www.fotohulp.nl/portret.html), and I hold the Ipad in the portret-position, the page displays correctly. However, when I rotate the Ipad to the landscape-position, this page dropps off and returns to the starting screen. This is, by the way. the only page on my website where this happens. all the others are okay. I've tried this on other Ipad's and they are displaying this page correctly, also in landscape-position.
I don't have a clue why this is happening (influenced by other app's or....?) and I hope somebody has a good idea how to solve this.
I've also restored all factory settings, but i didn't help.
Thanks in advance for any ideas and regards,
    Hans.

It could very well be memory related. It takes awhile to crash so it may be that there is a memory leak somewhere in WebKit on the iPad.
Note that the iPad 4 has 1 GB of memory vs. the 512 MB of the iPad 2. This probably means that the bug occurrence/or not is dependent of what was previously going on in Safari. It may be related to the peculiar background or floating menu that you are using.

  • Problems with the A key in landscape keyboard iPhone 5s (32GB AT&T black)

    I have a black iPhone 5s 32Gb through AT&T.
Recently I've been having a lot of problems with typing in landscape mode.  It may only be in the messages app, I'm not sure, that's definately when I notice it the most.  What happens is I will be typing very fast and I'll go to type 'a' and nothing happens.  I try a few more times and frequently the phone will freeze for a second, sometimes go black, sometimes even crash the app.  If I flip the phone to type in portrait I don't have any problem.
Has anyone else seen this?  Is this a software issue or is something wrong with my hardware?

Try to reset the device by pressing hold of the home and power button for 15-20 seconds and letting of when the Apple logo appears.

  • IOS 8 + landscape mode + AIR SDK 16 & 17 = problem with lost context

It's seems that the "landscape" orientation make a 100% reproductible beug on my apps when I return to it after calling the camera or "picture explorer" (with a native extension or with AS3, this is the same problem).
The problem is huge !! : no more texture present on the app, the photo taked with cam is partially visible, sometime a black square blink, no more interaction seems possible.
I only reproduce this beug in landscape orientation, with ios8 and Air Sdk 17.0.0.124 or Air Sdk 16 on iphone 6.
No problem with portrait orientation or Air Sdk = 15 or with a different version of ios.
I've modified the last "Demo_Mobile" example include in starling, put the app in landscape mode and added a simple call to CameraUI, I still have the same problem.
    Any idea ?
    P.S :
I'm also interested to know if someone else can or can't reproduce the beug on iphone6 with the starling example in landscape mode or
can simply call the camera in landscape mode without problem on iphone 6 with the SDK 16 or 17.

    Hi,
I faced the same problem using iAd iOS Extension (Adobe and Milkman Games ANEs).
When a user clicks on one of the banner ads, a fullscreen pop-up ad is shown, and after closing this screen, the size of my app (a Starling app) is reduced by one third, I get a blinking rectangle on the top of the screen and a white rectangle on the vacuum remaining third to right.

i am having problems with cover flow on my i phone 4s 32gb when i change to landscape and flick through the album covers it becomes very jerky and unstable and eventually crashes out.

A PC can have more issues connecting than a Mac.
But it really should not matter.. so just try it in situ.. press and hold the reset.. once it starts up, it will return to default IP, 10.0.1.1 the PC should then be able to find it via the airport utility.
If not drag it over to the Mac and plug in there by ethernet.. or since it is a laptop, really should not be that difficult to drag the Laptop and plug it into the TC.
Important thing is to get access to the TC.
The Mac if it is running lion, then you MUST download and install 5.6 airport utility to do anything useful.

  • I have a problem with landscape oriented pages being cut off at 8.5" horizontally, when in Design View.

I am trying to edit a form created in livecycle designer. Some of the pages are in portrait orientation and some in landscape orientation. The problem is that all the landscape oriented pages are cut off at 8.5" horizontally, so I can't edit the part that is cropped off. the full horizontal width of the landscape pages are visible in Preview PDF mode, but not Design View mode. Does anyone know what I need to do to be able to see all of the 11" width of these landscape oriented pages in Design Mode?
    thanks

The following line tells me that this is not a template file, but a document created from a template called index.dwt
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/index.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->
This means that you saved a child document as a template file at some stage.
If you go to Modify->Templates->Detach from Template, you can remove the template structure from your document. All you then need to do is to re-save the document as a template.

  • Rebel T4i - problem with dark/black corners in "landscape" mode

Hi I wanted to ask if someone could help. I am having problem while shooting pics. in "landscape" mode. Sometimes one, two or three corners are more or less black/dark.
thank you in advance for any advices.
    Josef

Very wide angle lenses can also have this issue simply if a filter (e.g. a "UV" filter or polarizing filter) is attached.
Usually if _only_ the corners are affected then it's caused by something physically blocking the light and not an electronic problem or mechanical malfunction.  The curtain shutters slide top-to-bottom (not from the corners) and likewise the CCD doesn't read-out from the corners inward, etc.
