Problem with e-mail sending and arrival
Hello, friends,
My problem started about 15 days ago. Some e-mails simply do not come to my server or take hours or even days to come. I have a PIX 515-R with 8.0(2) software version and "inspect esmtp" is activated. When I ran "debug esmtp", I got some messages like this one: "SMTP: State kept, no EID to use!!!".
I tried to deactivate ESMTP inspection, but I got no results at all.
What is happening with my system? Do you have any glue?

Same problem as Angela_Watson: the mailto function on both e-mail button and standard button prints out two identical mail addresses in the to field in Lotus Notes. [email protected]@domain.com I see several posts on the subject, but no solution that works for me. Did anyone find a more elegant workaround than adding a comma?

Have just upgraded to an Octo Mac Pro and I cant believe that it has me stumped with the first thing I try to do!!!
I can receive mail, but cant send out.
So far I have
- cleared the account and set it up again 3xs
- Tried port 25, 587. 110 and 995, but none work
- have set for authentication and ssl
any ideas?
Didn't have this issue with the iMac.
iMac was on 10.5 and the MP is on 10.5.1

With Yahoo Mail, and anotare account (Inacap Mail), I can only receive mails but I can't send emails. I don't know if this is a problem of the iPad or it is a problem with yahoo mail, because using Gmail and the email of my job I don' have this problem.
Google them to confirm the settings that you need for the outgoing server, then check the setting you entered on the pad. Pay real close attention to the outgoing server name, and port. You may need to change in on the pad.

I receive a pop-up from ICal saying the server does not recognize my user name and password for my me.com email address. This started yesterday and occurs about every 5 minutes or so. There are no problems with receiving or sending email through Mail. I did change me email password several days ago but have no problems sending/receiving since then.
I fixed the problem. I opened Preferences in ICal and entered my new password. No more pop-ups

Had problem with my hotmail account and had to change my password. Ever since then, my default e-mail account set up to hotmail doesn't work...it sends from gmail. How can I correct that?
On your iPhone you need to change your password in 2 places:
- Incoming Mail Server and
- Outgoing Mail Server
To get to the password entry for the Outgoing Mail Server you have to tap on cell smtp.live.com and again on the second view. -

Maybe you should test these things before calling people out, because these settings do function perfectly well.
iCloud is not supported on Snow Leopard or lower, why bother to mention it?
The OP has an iCloud account, and that can not be opened without Lion or Mountain Lion (on a Mac), IOS5 or 6 (on an iPhone/iPad)

I have many problems with my mail since I moved to mavericks. The filter is very sensitive, read mail appears as unread, I can't drag mail to the folders and more. I can't update the mail program as directed on this page, update says my system is updated
I don't think that a software update from Apple will solve the issues that you are having. You have a rogue installation. After you posted I have just done the following:
Disk Utility can verify my partitioned Volume (including my boot disk) AND REPAIR the non-boot disks on the same Volume without a glitch. It repairs the non-boot disks containing data smoothly.
I have used Mail to send some mails from some Yahoo and Hotmail accounts to my Thunderbird client containing GMail accounts - absolutely normal.
I have iLife '09 but my iMovie '09 and iPhoto '09 open in a jiffy and I see no issues here. I have 6GB RAM (Maximum) on an early 2008 Macbook Pro with a 750GB hard drive partitioned with 120GB reserved for the Boot Drive.
I am sorry that I cannot help further but I am sure there must be a way to reinstall the software without having to revert to restoring your ML backup. I have two clones and if you have such I would attempt to do that through that rather than through Time Machine - that is of course if you have a cloned drive.

Problem with Mavericks Mail and Exchange 2013

I have just updated to Mavericks a few days ago. Now I have a strange problem.
The setup with Exchange 2013 works fine ... so I can send&receive mails.
The problem: I only get new mails. All (few thausand) mails stored on the Exchange account are not synced to mail?!
Maybe anyone has an idea how to solve this ...

MarcSome problems with Exchange mail have been solved by disabling Autodiscovery. If that doesn't work, see below.
Back up all data. Delete the Exchange account from the Internet Accounts preference pane and add it back. If there's still no improvement, continue.
Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A folder window will open. Inside it there should be files with names as follows:
Envelope Index
ExternalUpdates.storedata
Move those files to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have longer names that begin as above. Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results. -
Problem with mac mail and Mediacom
Just bought a macbook 13" with 4GB and 2.4 core2duo 2.4
I have a problem with 10.5.6 and mac mail with mediacom at work. I can receive but can't send. I have no problems with bellsouth.net when using that provider at work.
Mediacom has no answers so I'm here. I've filled that required fields correctly using mail.mchsi.com in incoming and out going mail servers. Firefox mail client works fine with Mediacom but I want to use the Apple client. I've used advice from what I could find on google and nothing works such as repair permissions to change ports. I hope a Mediacom user can shed some light to this problem. If all else fails I will use the Firefox mail client but I really don't want to.

Something gets corrupted if you enter the server wrong on the first try and even editing to correct it won't fix it. You must delete the server and add a new one.
To fix it go to mail preferences and click account at the top of the prefs window. At the bottom of the account pane click the outgoing server list and select edit server list. Select your server and hit the - symbol on the left below the list. I then close the prefs, save changes and quit mail. Re-launch Mail and open prefs, select account again and edit outgoing server, click the + at the bottom of the list and add a server, double click the server where it says double click here and type mail.mchsi.com in the box. close the prefs and save changes and you should now be able to send. -
There appear to be big problems with Mavericks Mail, particularly if it's used for Gmail. Have other users noticed that it slows to a crawl and can't reload the contents of a folder instantly....Is there a fix coming?
There is a large thread relating to Gmail, but nothing that sounds like that.
Nobody here knows what Apple is going to do.
You might try removing the Gmail account and then add it back in. -
Problem with Apple Mail and comcast addresses
Sometimes Apple Mail will not let me send to comcast.net addresses, including my own. I get the message: "Cannot send message using the server smtp.comcast.net:[my e-mail address] All other e-mails sends and receives fine. I'm using 10.6.7. What to do?

Actually, in the current instance, I realized the message would not send simply because it was addressed to an invalid address - I corrected the address and it went out fine, but I wish the program would have told me that was the problem instead of sending me on a wild goose chase about possible server or account setting problems.
I'm still not sure whether this was the case the previous time I had the problem, a day or so, when I was sending a message to multiple addresses (25 or so). There is little way for me to know which of those addresses is or may be invalid. -

Problems with syncing Mail (with mailboxes and emails)
I synced my Tiger desktop to my Leopard laptop and have had 2 big problems:
1. The mailboxes that I had trashed in Tiger showed up in Leopard AND worse, the new ones don't show up.
2. I'm syncing both rules, sigs, smart mailboxes AND Accounts - when you sync accounts, aren't the emails supposed to transfer over too? I'm not getting ANY emails to transfer to the laptop.
