Problem with E71 & WLAN

I have E71 nokia phone. my problem is, the phone keeps asking me about the password of any access point i have installed.
for ex. , i want to connect to check my mails, it asks me about the preferable network, i select one of the defined networks, then it asks me to enter the password. which is ridiculous.
then i after 10 min, i try to connect to check any site, it asks me again for the network and its password, which is more ridiculous.
any solutions to stop asking me about the passwords????

Either you use an open not encrypted network and you wan't be asked for a password or you use WEP/WPA. Use a WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK passfrase ( router and E71). Once set you're connected forever.

  • PLEASE HELP! Problems with Cisco WLAN and WPA encryption

I checked the threads and didn't see this posted.  I have a Cisco WLAN card in my T42_2373_C88.  It's a very unfortunate thing that this wireless LAN card/wireless config. utitlity doesn't support WPA encryption.  I'm not entirely sure that it's the problem with the WLAN card, and the reason for this is that I initially set up a network through the Windows config. utility bypassing the IBM utility (which I can no longer do).  I wasn't actually able to connect to my local network until I completely removed the profile for my home network in the access connections, only then was I able to connect (WPA-PSK (TKIP)).  I saw some drivers available for my make and model on the lenovo.com driver site.  I downloaded the drivers and went through device manager specifying the folder where the drivers were located and the drivers were not recognized by windows as valid drivers.  Unless specifically told otherwise, I don't want to manually override and load these drivers.  This is a business machine, and this specific wireless function is VERY critical.
    Thanks

try using URLConnection instead of HTTPConnection.

  • Problems with E71 and fearing firmware update

Hello, I currently have a Nokia E71 with phone software version 200.21.118 Installed and here are the following problems that i am facing
I cant install or run java apps anymore and whenever im trying to open a secure page on the internet my phoine locks up
also im having other problems with a few other apps locking up when they go online.
I thought that maybe updating the software will fix the problem
the fear that i have is i payed $700AU for this phone and im scared that updating it would make things worse or fatal
    can someone help?
    Thanks

I fixed it!  After calling Apple support, we tried every kind of reboot you can think of:
    command-option-P-R
    Command-option-R
    Shift key down
    unplug
unplug and hold in start button for 30 seconds
Nothing worked.  So I was going to take it in to the "Genius" bar, but I tried one more thing.  I unplugged everything from the Mac - monitors, USB, ethernet, everything.  Rebooted and waited for a minute.  I then plugged one of my monitors in and voilá!  the progress bar was there.  So there you go - good luck!

  • MBP 5.1 I have a recent problem with airport connectivity. ethernet connection is working fine, but wifi has become extremely slow and bad functioning. signal is received, no problem with the wlan (my husband 's wifi with MBP is perfect) please help

I have a MBP 5.1 with snow leopard 10.6.8. It has been working fine until few days ago, when it started to have different problems:
    1) airport is not working well. it is extremely slow, has difficulties in fully loading pages, looses connectivity, It is not browser related, behaves thesame in safari or firefox; it is not the router/wlan; my husband mbp wifi works fine (as it was mine...) and iphone wifi is also working fine. it sees the signal and different networks. , it is also very very slow in opening skype (after that, it is working ok) if  I connect via ethernet cable to the same router, everything works perfectly and with the correct speed.could it be a damaged airport card? a software problem/corruption? logic board? (I hope not, the computer is out of apple care now....)
    2) after a certain time (more than hours) of use, the trackpad is behaving strangly, increase sensitivity to touch, unwanted selection of folders, files and text or images in web pages when i move the cursor, the cursor jumping all over the places while writing, ecc I have the impression it starts doing that when I use heavily the CPU ( and the temperature goes up). Is this again a problem of the mother/logic board?
I had recently serviced it since it was not booting properly, but except some permissions repaired, they did noit find anything wrong in the hard drive (which I have  now substituted with a SSD) or other hardware.
thanks in advance for any help/suggestions
    alessandra

I think I solved the wifi connection problem, just by switching off completely the router! sounds trivial, but in this case it worked!!!
the funny behaviour of the trackpad/cursor still persists. any suggestion???
    thanks again

  • Problem with E71 battery

    Hi all,
I have purchased new E71, the problem is that the phone is charged very soon, aprox. in 30 mins. and the battery lasts about 2 days. I have changed the phone, thought that it was phones problem, but same with the other. I have taken the battery to service centre and they told that battery is good. I updated the firmware but problem still exists. Can you make some advice?

DO NOT DRAIN your batteries completely, this is anew generation of batteries and it actually is potentially harmful to them to drain empty. it also REDUCES the life of your battery. when the battery gives you the first signs of low batt indication this is a good time with modern batteries to charge. charge it until it says it is full. no need to charge any further than that. batteries come partially charged out of the box these days. plug one into the phone and use it until batt low, charge it to full again and repeat the first three to four times. after that battery is good to go and you no longer have to worry about it. you can charge it as you please, just keep one thing in mind, do not let it discharge completely.

  • Quickoffice problem with E71 Ver. 501.21.001

When I updated my E71-2 to software version 501.21.001 I found that I could no longer edit Quickoffice spreadsheets while the "Nokia Messaging Email" Inbox was open.  I had been able to do this previously and on my E75.  Attempting to either edit a cell in a spreadsheet or to select another worksheet in a workbook while the Inbox was open caused Quicksheet to close and return to the file seletion menu.  The Version of Nokia Messaging Email is the latest, Build 9.7.0.21 (main).
Upon investigation I discovered that the E71 update had also installed a new version of Quickoffice, Version 6.2.388.  There appears to be a conflict between this version of Quickoffice Quicksheets and the E71 501.21.001 software.
I contacted Nokia support but they didn't seem to understand the problem or be able to provide a solution.
I contacted Quickoffice Customer Support and they provided a URL to replace Quickoffice Version 6.2.388 with Version 6.2.217.  This solved my problem completely!
It appears that the 501.21.001 update to the E71 installs a bad version of Quickoffice.
I am making this post in case other people have a similar problem and in hopes that Nokia might fix this problem created by the update to the E71.

thank u . can any one help me to change my colour of the fonts if possible on my e71 . i have completed hacking the mobile . can we change the colours of each page of e71{home screen colour, menubackground colour , applications background , setting background colour etc } , if we can than help me .......................

  • FEW problems with E71

Hi, been using this since past 1 week. Facing the foll problems. Requesting help...
    1) Unable to turn-off voice-alerts from the main home-page
    2) Frustratingly slow camera start-up after invoking the same from either from home page or the media applications
    3) Unable to switch between EDGE & 3G networks. Default is EDGE only. Need an option to auto-switch between EDGE & 3G
    4) Unable to configure EXCHANGE mails. It says check if Memory is properly installed, meaning its trying to check the application from the memory.
Requesting help on the above problems. Regards, Sajjid

I can't help with items 1, 2 and 4 ... although I suggest checking the following for your issue number 2 ref EDGE and 3G:
Check that the phone is set to "dual mode" at the following option:
Tools --> Settings --> Phone --> Network --> Network mode
Your options are GSM and Dual mode ... Dual mode allows the handset to automatically switch between GPRS and 3G (or that's how it works with my provider).
    HTH.
    My previous phones:
    6310i --> SE K750i --> E50 --> E61i --> E71
... much prefer the Nokia phones, especially the E71

  • Problems with broadcom wlan adapter and wlan-button.

A couple of weeks ago the adapter was working ok with ndiswrapper and bcmwl5.inf driver, but it stopped working recently probably after ndiswrapper and/or kernel upgrade. Loading the ndiswrapper module from rc.conf made the whole system kernel panic (IRQ problem?) until I added:

to the kernel boot parameters. Now this error doesn't occur every time I load ndiswrapper, but the problem still exists. BCM43xx driver doesn't work either. I'm using the 64-bit arch.

The other problem that I have is the wlan-button: The wlan adapter isn't always turned on at boot and I have found no way to turn it on from linux. It can be turned on by booting to windows or resetting the bios to defaults, but it is not very nice. I've noticed that pressing the wlan button adds one usb device:
    Bus 001 Device 003: ID 03f0:171d Hewlett-Packard
Is there a way to fix these problems?

When I used to use ndiswrapper, just downloading one of the generic INF files didn't do the trick for me. I had to go to my manufacturer's homepage and download it there extract the drivers from the exe and use them in order to get my card work reliably.
Also, have you used a 64 bit driver? This guy reckons you need it:
    http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions … ost2952703
I guess I solved it. I have been using the 64-bit driver, but have tried the 32-bit driver from hp diver site too.  For some reason ndiswrapper seems to install a driver named "ndiswrapper" with this 32-bit driver, which is why it didn't work. So my solution was:
    1) Get the 32-bit driver from hp.com
    2) rmmod ndiswrapper
    3) remove all installed ndiswrapper drivers: ndiswrapper -r <drivername>
    4) installed the 32-bit driver: ndiswrapper -i bcmwl5.inf
    5) ndiswrapper -l gave me:
    bcmwl5 : driver installed
device (14E4:4312) present (alternate driver: bcm43xx)
    ndiswrapper : invalid driver!
    6) Got rid of the weird ndiswrapper driver inside ndiswrapper: ndiswrapper -r ndiswrapper
    7) modprobe ndiswrapper
Rebooted a couple of times and it seems to work ok.
    How about the wlan-button problem?

  • Switching phones synchronisation problem with E71?

I was using an E71 and i was switching over to use 6500 slide. I tried to transfer all my notes, calender entries, contacts and text messages to the 6500 slide through the "switch phones" synchronisation option. most of them transferred fine, but half the text messages i had didn't. they still remained on the E71 so i could try retransfer but it wasn't a big deal. The problem was that i had 31 notes. and it reported that 1 sent and 30 were deleted. it deleted all 30 notes without any confirmation and so i can't even attempt to re-send it.  so now i don't know how to get the deleted notes back D:
is there a way to find and restore them ? and why did it suddenly delete? (even though half the text messages sent, HALF the text in each of them were cut off.)
i've never backed it up on computer or anywhere else too because i didn't expect the notes to ever disappear without confirmation of deletion or anything of that sort .
i'd be glad if anyone could help T^T

  • Permanent problems with intel wlan (iwl3945)

    Hi
I've got an intel wireless card and have constant problems connecting like normal people. Just using netcfg2 or networkmanager is not possible. When I try connecting (after ifconfig wlan0 up) the iwl3945 driver goes up to 100% cpu load on one core.
So I thought I try in single steps on the console.
    It is the following chip:
10:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan] Network Connection (rev 02)
I did these steps but most of the time it doesn't work:
    #!/bin/sh
    sudo rmmod iwl3945

    sudo modprobe iwl3945
    sleep 10
    sudo ifconfig wlan0 up
    sudo iwconfig wlan0 essid CampusWlan
    sudo dhclient wlan0

Apr 30 14:34:58 farnsworth shutdown[4654]: shutting down for system reboot
I tried booting with "irqpoll" option but it doesn't change things.
The only way I can connect sometimes is when wlan is turned of by pressing the rfkill button, then removing iwl3945, removing tg3 and loading iwl3945 module again. Next is ifconfig wlan0 up, setting the essid with iwconfig and using dhclient to get an ip address. It is no fancy network, university network, my mac address is registered there so no wpa, wep or other keys whatsoever. And additionally I had to do this to /etc/rc.conf:
DAEMONS=(syslog-ng !hal !network !networkmanager @crond !avahi-daemon !kdm !gcaldaemon)
    MOD_AUTOLOAD="yes"
    MODULES=(!yenta_socket tg3 !ipw3945 iwl3945 fuse acpi-cpufreq cpufreq_ondemand cpufreq_powersave coretemp)
Interfaces are all switched of with "!". And my boot options are:
    i915.modeset=1 root=/dev/sda5 ro quiet nopat noapic enable_mttr_cleanup
Ucode is installed btw (core/iwlwifi-3945-ucode 15.28.2.8-1). There are some other threads but nothing that fits exactly.
One or two kernels ago I could switch it on and off and connect to whatever network I wanted. Any ideas on this?
    Thanks, David

With the new ucode things are a little bit better. No more 100% cpu load on one core.
This is from a log trying to connect to my university network.

So far I couldn't figure out the exact steps I have to do in order to connect. Sometimes it works but I often get timeouts.
But I don't understand why nobody has such a problem. Is it only me who has to remove the tg3 and reload iwl3945 module and do an ifconfig wlan0 up? I mean there is no point in using netcfg2 or networkmanager when I have to do it manually anyway.
As I said it is a bit better, scanning now works with networkmanager but connecting doesn't. It is not a fancy network, my MAC address is registereed and all I have to do is assigning the ESSID and use dhclient wlan0
In networkmanager I only have SSID and I guess that is the same as ESSID, than there is a BSSID (whatever that is), security is switched off as there is no key. To get an IP address I can chose betwen 4 things, manual, dhcp with manual dns, auto ip and dhcp. What is the difference between the last and second last?
I would really appreciate when someone can shed some light on all this.
    Thanks, David

  • Problem with e71 remote unlock

    Hi,

The phone is network unlocked , i used my sim until now , and it doesn't work anymore.
I need help , please answer me soon.
                                                       Thanks.

Sim card not valid... when starting the phone?
I would try to move the sim-card... i would think about contact problems.

  • Maps problem with E71

I just installed the latest version of Nokia Maps on my E71, but I don't have the LonelyPlanet and Weather apps, which I need very much. How to install them to my phone?

As fa as I recall with all my phones, the Lonely Planet and Tripadvisor is not there on installation of Nokia Maps but they always appear after I go online. I don't have an E71 but that's the way it has been for all my phones with V3 Nokia Maps. Perhaps you still don't have them because you have not been able to go online.
Sim contacts should be either Contacts>Options>Sim Contacts or Contacts>Options>Settings>Contacts to display>Sim contacts.

  • Software problems with E71

    Hi everyone,
My service provider recently sent me a Nokia E71, but it is causing me nothing but headaches. Currently I cannot open the menu at all no matter what I try. The first time I encountered this problem I did a hard reboot after the reboot I then had the messages app freeze so I had to reboot the phone again. Now less than 24hours after the second reboot the original problem has returned.
Is there a way to fix this without rebooting the phone? I cant keep rebooting every day just to have the basics working, especially as the phone is not even a week old. Has anyone else encountered this and if so how do you fix it?
    Thanks in advance.
    ~Dan
    Solved!

even though it says e71-1 (which is similar to that of the US version)
if the unit is "branded" then in almost every case, you cannot update the firmware unless the carrier makes an announcement and releases an updated firmware version.
this is because they have cusomized the units firmware, which is not made by Nokia, rather, it is made by Symbian, which is what the software is that runs on Nokia's hardware, and if you were able to connect your branded phone up to the NSU (nokia software updater) then it would in effect write the update OVER the carriers cusomized firmware on the device...which they do  not want.
you could try to contact the carrier and see if they will give you the unlock key for the device and walk you through unlocking your phone, then try to do the NSU updater to see if it will recognize your phone that way.
otherwise, the only option is to do one or both of the following:
    *#7380# - reset settings
    *#7370# - reformat the device
again, if you have a branded phone, these codes may not work either.
if they do not, try to find in the manual for reseting the device using a key pattern ie-hold the green button (send)+3+ (* button) while rebooting the device.
