Problem with EJBContext.rollback

Hi,
We are testing out some code for transaction control and can't seem to
get the container managed transactions with Oracle Type 4 drivers with
IPlanet6 SP2.
Some problems we encountered were:
1. There does not appear to be any way to check whether the connection
is participating in a transaction?
The class of the connection also does not appear to implement
XAConnection even though we do a lookup
within a Container Managed Transactional EJB. And the rollback also does
not work properly in the attached code
fragment.
2. We have set the EJB Deployment Descriptors properly to be Container
Managed Transactions and "Required", the Resource References are
available in both ejb-jar.xml and ias-ejb-jar.xml, but after meddling
with the App Server settings
for a few days and trying all sorts of combinations, none of them
actually work.
3. IPlanet's Tech Support has not been helpful at all in confirming
whether this is a misconfiguration or a bug (seems
like too important a feature to be not working right?)
We would appreciate any help in determining the exact problem with
either our configuration or code in handling
transactions. Thanks
hoongshen

The Stateless Session Bean Code essentially just implements one method
and we can't get the transaction working
with that method.

  • Problem with RollBack in  Oracle Batching

    Hi all,
    This is Adhil. I am facing a problem with Oracle Batching in java.
    I am using java 1.5 and Oracle 10 g.
    I have a below standalone code to test the Oracle Batching (Assume that i have the 2 tables with zero records ).
    with the batch size set as 10, I am trying add 2 records in each table.
    Now I rise divideByZero error exception manually and trying to rollback the connection in catch statement . But couldn't rollback the connection. I see the 2 records added in both of my tables.
    The same code when i set the batchsize 2 and trying to insert 10 records ,I could rollback and no rows get inserted.
    Since I am going to get the no of insert from user in runtime , my rollback may fail in any combinations as in my first case(with batch size 10 and if the no of insert is 2).

  • IDES installation problem with DDIC password

    Hello everybody,
    After hours of searching and trying..
    I have here a problem during a local installation of IDES ECC 6.0 on Windows Server 2008 with MAXDB. The installation stops in phase 27 of 29 u201Ccheck DDIC passwordu201D - test logon to SAP system failed, with the error message FRF-00007 "Unable to open RFC connection" in sapinst.
    The MMC shows in the process list that the following processes stands oon "green": igswd, mag_Server and disp+work are running. The message of servers connection is OK, acts dialogue queue time is 0.00 sec.
    I have already searched the forum, but I am not able to logon as user SAP* with u201C060. u2026u201D or as user DDIC with the password u201C199. u2026u201D to change the DDIC password to my password set during the installation (transaction -S000 / SU01). The login fails over the MMC as well as over the SAP GUI 7.10. I have tried this on the client 000, 001 and 800. The error message is u201CSAP Logon Failed - connection closed without message (CM_NO_DATA_RECEIVEDu201D). The SAP GUI gets down with "Work process restartet, session terminated".
    What can help to solve the problem? Can it be a problem with the ms loop adaptor? Which static address IP must assign to the loop adaptor? Did i have to update the kernel of the data bank or is this not necessary? Can the information from dev_w help?
    Can this link help me: BI 7.0 Installed but errored out during DDIC password check !!!!!!!
    Thanks in advance

    The kernel is not patched. I just (try) to install the kernel files from the sap market place
    IDES download destination. The install kernel file was: 51033508_7 - NW7 SR3 Kernel 7.00 for Windows / LNX X86_X64. I got an update / upgrade file, which is called: 51033508_8 - NW7 SR3 Kernel .... Upg ABAP.
    Can anybody give me an adwise by reading those logfiles? Is the file ok for updating the kernel?
    How do I upgrade the kernel by having no .exe - file?  May the installation go on after patching the kernel?
    Thanks you really much

  • Problem with getAttribute() for Booleans

    Hi
    We have an Application which has undergone all the migration path from JDeveloper 9i beta up to JDeveloper 9.0.5.2 (in several steps certainly :-) ) . Now we try do the next step: we want to upgrade from 9.0.5.2 to 10.1.3.
    But there is a problem with Boolean attributes:
    Since there were some problems with Booleans in elder versions of JDeveloper all our Booleans are stored in Attributes of type VARCHAR2(1) ("1" is TRUE, "0" is FALSE). This worked well since 9.0.5.2. But now in JDeveloper 10.1.3 all Boolean Attributes return FALSE, no matter of the content of the database. Since we do not want to convert our data in the database I am now looking for a way, how I can enable this Application to correctly read Booleans from VARCHAR2(1) .
    I've already found some classes like "TypeFactory" and "TypeMapEntries", and I've found the Property "jbo.TypeMapEntries". But I've found no clue, how to use them for my problem.
    Can anyone give me a hint?
    Thanks in advance
    Frank Brandstetter

    You have several problems:
    1. On-Insert will ONLY run if you have created a new record in a base-table block. If you haven't done that, then the POST command will not cause it to run.
    2. Select for update without a "no wait" will lock records for the first form, but when the second form tries this, it will hit the ORA-00054 exception, and will NOT wait. The only way you could make it wait is to issue an UPDATE sql command, which is not such a good way to go.
    All POST does is issues SQL insert or update commands for any changes the user has made to records in a form's base-table blocks, without following with a Commit command.
    Also understand that Commit is the same as Commit_Form, and Rollback is the same as Clear_Form. You should read up on these in the Forms help topics.

  • Problem with "SELECT...FOR UPDATE OF..." and "POST command" combination

    Problem with "SELECT...FOR UPDATE OF..." and "POST command" combination
    Problem in committing transactions in Multiple Forms (Oracle Forms) with POST built-in command:
    Consider that the following statements are written in WHEN-WINDOW-CLOSED trigger of a called form.
    Statements in called form (Form name: FORM_CHILD):
    go_block('display_block') ;
    do_key('execute_query') ;
    -- Data from table_b will be populated in this block, based on the value of COLUMN_1 obtained
    -- from TABLE_A.
    -- Example: If the value of COLUMN_1 is 10, then all the matching records from TABLE_B, which
    -- are inserted with value 10 in TABLE_B.COLUMN_1 will be fetched and shown here.
    if user_choice = 'YES' then
    commit ;
    else
    rollback ;
    end if ;
    Statements in calling forms:
    There are two calling forms having following statements and it is going to call the above said called form.
    CALLING FORM 1
    Statements in KEY-COMMIT trigger:
    post;
    call_form(form_child, no_activate) ;
    Statements in ON-INSERT trigger:
    select column_1
    from table_a
    for update of column_1
    where column_2 = 'X' ;
    update table_a
    set column_1 = column_1 + 1
    where column_2 = 'X' ;
    insert into table_b ...;
    insert into table_b ...; Statements in KEY-COMMIT trigger:
    post;
    call_form(form_child, no_activate) ;
    CALLING FORM 2:
    Statements in ON-INSERT trigger:
    select column_1
    from table_a
    for update of column_1
    where column_2 = 'X' ;
    update table_a
    set column_1 = column_1 + 1
    where column_2 = 'X' ;
    insert into table_b ...;
    insert into table_b ...;
    insert into table_b ...;
    Our understanding:
    Assume that both the forms are running from two different machines/instances, issuing commit at the same time. In this case, forms will start executing the statements written in ON-INSERT trigger, the moment POST command is executed. Though the commit is issued at the same time, according to oracle, only one of the request will be taken for processing first. Assume that calling form 1 is getting processed first.
    So, it fetches the value available in COLUMN_1 of TABLE_A and locks the row from further select, update, etc. as SELECT...FOR UPDATE command is used (note that NOWAIT is not given, hence the lock will be released only when COMMIT or ROLLBACK happens) and proceed executing further INSERT statements. Because of the lock provided by the SELECT...FOR UPDATE command, the statements in calling form 2 will wait for the resource.
    After executing the INSERT statements, the FORM_CHILD is called. The rows inserted in to TABLE_A will be queried and shown. The database changes will be committed when user closes the window (as COMMIT is issued in its WHEN-WINDOW-CLOSED trigger). Then the SELECT...FOR UPDATE lock will be released and calling form 2's statements will be executed.
    Actual happenings or Mis-behavior:
    Calling form 2 starts executing INSERT statements instead of waiting for SELECT...FOR UPDATE lock. Also, the value selected from TABLE_A.COLUMN_1 is same in both the calling forms, which is wrong.
    The rows inserted into TABLE_B are having similar COLUMN_1 values in calling form 2 and they are fetched and shown in the called form FORM_CHILD.
    Note that in calling form 2 also POST only is issued, but the changes posted there are accessible in calling form 1 also, which is wrong.
    Kindly suggest us as to how to fix above problem. It will be much use, if you can send us the information regarding the behavior of Oracle Forms POST built-in also.

  • Problem with applications that doesn't show even if installed and to uninstall some that work wrong

    Hi there!
    Problem #1: I've been having problems with my Windguru application in my Iphone. From sometime onwards, it is not showing the forecasted wind, etc after I open it. Tried to uninstall and install again but the problem continues. Seems like there is something sticking in my iphone that is preventing the app to work correctly after uninstalled. Is there something "Windows like" to clean all remains of an application?
    Problem #2 and somehow related: I installed Netflix app in my Iphone as a trial and went ok. Then, logically, tried in my Ipad but something went wrong. The App is installed but doesn't show anyplace. In App store it shows as installed, in General Settings it shows in the list of applications, but no Icon!
    Then I tried to uninstall from Itunes and the same thing continued happening. Worse, then I tried to install from Itunes, SAW the icon with the progress bar being installed in the Ipad and suddenly it dissapeared!!
    Anyone can help?
    Thanks in advance.

    Driskol wrote:but i dont have access to the old kernel
    I can't solve your problem, but I can help you work around it by downgrading if nobody else can figure it out.
    You can find old packages here at the Arch Rollback Machine project repo someone thankfully keeps running,
    http://arm.nrk.cc/
    Just go to 'core' and get the package(s) you need and downgrade. There is also a thread on here somewhere about setting up pacman.conf to point to a specific date with ARM if you don't want to get individual stuff manually, but just doing it individually would probably be easier, as I don't expect the kernel has too many other things you need

  • Problems with the function DBMS_XMLSCHEMA.copyEvolve

    I´m having problems with the evolution of xml-schema.
    First the function DBMS_XMLSCHEMA.copyEvolve works correctly, but since one week I get only errors. Strangely is the fact that I use the same files (xml-schema, xslt and xml instances) and the same SQL-Code. Even if I delete all tables, directories, ... with the drop instruction and create them again, I get only error messages. It is also strangely that the function DBMS_XMLSCHEMA.copyEvolve not works if the old and new xml-schema are identical and no XSLT-Stylesheet is handed over. Can by the function DBMS_XMLSCHEMA.copyEvolve something going wrong in the database ? Do I must recreate the database, and how can I do that by the XE? But that can not be a good solution.
    Has anybody a idea what can I do?

  • Problem with multi row delete

    Hi, I'm new in apex and I tried to build master detail report on some view. Everything is cool but "delete checked" doesn't work.
    "ORA-20001: Error in multi row delete operation: row= , ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: NULL index table key value,"
    the problem is that I don't know what is wrong :), I have a special trigger "instead of delete on MY_VIEW", but in this error problem is not explained.
    Anybody knows what can be wrong? It is probably a problem with trigger or multi row doesn't work with views? I couldn't find how MRD knows what kind of statement use to delete rows so I don't know if the statement that program used is correct. In debug it lokks that:
    0.32: ...Do not run process "ApplyMRU", process point=AFTER_SUBMIT, condition type=REQUEST_IN_CONDITION, when button pressed=
    0.32: ...Process "ApplyMRD": MULTI_ROW_DELETE (AFTER_SUBMIT) #OWNER#:MY_VIEW:ITEM1:ITEM2
    0.33: Show ERROR page...
    0.33: Performing rollback...
    thanks for any help
    //sorry for english mistakes
    edit: it doesn't matter if I use in trigger delete from ... where item1=:OLD.item1 ; or if I use item1=:P4_item1 (which actually saves correct values)
    Edited by: user5931224 on 2009-06-13 08:55

    I realised that this is not a problem with trigger, I changed trigger to "NULL;" and problem is the same. Maybe sb used master detail on view not only on tables and know what can be wrong in this situation?

  • OS update problem with BB Torch 9810

    Hi there
    I've got a problem with my BB device. It is Torch 9810 and recently a software patch has been applied ( version 7.0.0 bundle 1465 to bundle 2406 ). After the upgrade though BB device doesn't work properly, its screen freezes, some applications ( GPS in particular ) does not work, virtual keyboard sensitivity is poor etc. Hence I need to roll back to the previous version of software however rollback option on device is disabled. I can't roll back to the previous version using desktop software either.
    Please advice how to resolve the issue or provide me with a link where I can find previous OS version i.e. 7.0.0 bundle 1465.

  • ConnectionPool problems with WLS 7.0 and Oracle 9.2

    Hi,
    We are using WLS 7.0 SP4, and Oracle 9 and the Oracle thin driver type 4. In our
    application on the productive system (and only there) we constantly encounter
    a whole set of SQLExceptions which have all in common that the Connection from
    the pool is not valid any more when the application tries to use it.
    Typical, recurring error messages are:
    - Exhausted ResultSet
    - Connection has already been closed
    - Closed Statement
    - Transaction is no longer active - status committing
    - NullPointerException at
    weblogic.jdbc.pool.Connection.prepareStatement()
    There are no special Statements which create these errors. They are spread at
    random across practically every query the application creates, and the same queries
    sometimes succeed and sometimes fail.
    I double and triple checked that all Connections, Statements and ResultSets are
    closed immediately after use. As an example, I attached a code snippet and a resulting
    StackTrace which.
    The problem also seems to occur only with an (unknown) minimum of concurrent usern,
    since in the approval tests on an almost identical test system these errors never
    occurred.
    I also followed the advice from Oracle and installed the latest Oracle JDBC driver
    (Oracle 10g) - to no avail.
    What else can I do?
    Another question: Is it correct that my Oracle JDBC driver is in the application
    classpath (via a reference in the Manifest file of the application jar), not in
    the system classpath? There has never been a problem with that, but in a Newsgroup
    answer from Nov 10, 2003 (subject: "ResultSet closes prematurely"), Joe Weinstein
    suggested to "get it listed at the
    front of the -classpath argument that the startWebLogic script creates for the
    java line that starts the server".
    I hesitate to do so, since the driver is in a standard WebApp- directory, WEB-INF/lib.
    Is it possible and safe to add a jar located there to the system classpath? If
    it is possible, why is it necessary?
    Best regards,
    Andreas Zehrt

    Andreas Zehrt wrote:
    Hi Joe,
    Your hint that there is a threading problem was right:
    On further investigation of the code I found out that the class that passes the
    Connection to the DAO not only stores it as a member at some point (which is not
    a good idea anyway) but is also a singleton - then, of course, it's no surprise
    that the Connection gets invalid in a incalculable way when concurrent threads
    share it.
    The singleton instantiation was not so obvious because the way of instantiation
    is controlled by a configuration parameter that can be overridden at different
    levels.
    I changed it and the productive logfiles indicate that the SQLExceptions related
    to that class have disappeared.I am happy to have helped.
    So, thanks a lot for the advice.
    But I am still wondering why this code has worked for so long a time with WLS
    5.1 and Oracle 8 (the system has been productive for over 2 years). Even in the
    approval tests with WLS 7.0 and Oracle 9, we did not run into problems, although
    it was multi-user environment.Mo idea.
    I still believe that there is a difference between WLS 5.1 and 7.0 in the way
    it treats pooled Oracle JDBC Connections. I wished both Oracle and Bea could be
    a little more explicit about those changes and possible version incompatabilities
    beyond the general advice "use the latest thin driver".Though I can think of no change to our pooling which would have had any material
    effect in this case, I will certainly do what I can to see that our documentation
    is explicit about changes.

    Another question: Is it correct that my Oracle JDBC driver is in theapplication
    classpath (via a reference in the Manifest file of the applicationjar), not in
    the system classpath? There has never been a problem with that, butin a Newsgroup
    answer from Nov 10, 2003 (subject: "ResultSet closes prematurely"),Joe Weinstein
    suggested to "get it listed at the
    front of the -classpath argument that the startWebLogic script createsfor the
    java line that starts the server".
    I hesitate to do so, since the driver is in a standard WebApp- directory,WEB-INF/lib.
    Is it possible and safe to add a jar located there to the system classpath?If
    it is possible, why is it necessary?I was only concerned to ensure we know which driver we are working with.
    We also ship
    an oracle thin driver, which becomes obsolete soon...
    I am concerned that your code creates pool connections to be used later.
    The problems
    can arise if more than one thread ever gets the same connection, or if
    the connection
    is used in the same thread, spanning transactions. It does also seem
    that there may
    be a threading issue, because if two threads each call the code to create
    a connection,
    and two connections are made, but one over-writes the other, the two
    threads can
    end up using the same connection, and closing it. The over-written one
    never gets closed,
    resulting in that leak message you got...
    Joe
    The Connection parameter is opened by a business component class, ComaServiceProviderClassicImpl.It is propagated through
    several classes in the business layer, but not used, until the DAOtakes it to make the query.
    So, the Connection is closed where it was opened, not in the DAO class.
    public class ConcernDAOImpl extends BaseDAO {
         public Collection getConcernsForIncidents(Connection conn, Collectionincidents)
    throws DataAccessException, ConstraintException, ComaParseException{>
    sqlMessage.append(")");
    String sqlStmt = sqlMessage.toString();
    PreparedStatement pstmt = null;
    ResultSet rs = null;
    try {
    pstmt = conn.prepareStatement(sqlStmt);
    rs = pstmt.executeQuery();
    while (rs != null && rs.next()) {
    final Concern concern =
    new Concern(DAOUtil.getComaOID(rs, ComaDBNames.KDANR));
    concern.setIncidentOID(DAOUtil.getComaOID(rs, ComaDBNames.KDAVGENR));
    return concerns;
    } catch (SQLException sqle) {
    // Wrapps real SQL exception
    String[] message = new String[]{sqle.getMessage(), sqlStmt};
    throw new DataAccessException(ExpCode.S_ORACLE_SQL, message,
    sqle);
    } finally {
    closeAll(rs, pstmt);
    _logger.exitDebug(method);
    Here, the Connection is acquired and finally closed
    public class ComaServiceProviderClassicImpl {
         public void updateComplaint(
    final Request updateRequest,
    final ResponseSingleElement response,
    final Principal principal)
    throws SystemException {
    try {
    logger.info("updateComplaint", "store incident");
    // store the incident in the database
    incidentManager.storeIncident(getConnection(), updateIncident);
    // reload the incident from Cache and / or the databaseto get the ContactReferences.
    Incident returnIncident = incidentManager.loadIncident(//IncidentManager passes the Connection to the DAO
    getConnection(), updateIncident.getOID());
    } catch (RemoteException rex) {
    // remote exceptions
    rollbackIfNecessary();
    CoreUtils.unwrapRemoteException(rex, logger);
    } catch (SystemException e) {
    // all other exceptions --> rollback if necessary and rethrow
    rollbackIfNecessary();
    throw e;
    } finally {
    removeConnection();
    logger.exitDebug("updateComplaint");
    This is the resulting StackTrace:

  • Problem with SQL,udfs & procedures

    I have couple of problems with my database. Please suggest solution.
    We are basically a web product With a Quite large Database
    1. I am using functions both User Defined and Built in Functions in
    SQL Statement. I want to optimize the query how do i do it.
    why the usage of function in sql statements suppresses,the
    usage of indexes internally. How to forceable make use of
    the index even though function is used.
    2. Whenver The Client makes a request to the Database server with a
    Sql Query What are the steps we can take at the
    client side to enhance the performance of the Query.
    (i.e the Data Request ). How to optimize the usage of CPU at
    client site?
    3. what is the increase in the performance ration by having
    separate table spaces for user data,system data and indexes.
    4. Why the procedures are getting invalided
    after some time. The procedure is
    not getting executed at the front end.
    Once the procedure is getting invalidated.
    However even though the status of the
    procedure is invalid the same is getting
    executed at the back end.
    Can anybody help me
    Request for reply ASAP.
    Regards

    1. In Oracle 8i, one can create function-based indexes, where instead of indexing a column, one can index upper() of that column.
    2. Optimizing client performance is trickier. One can tune the queries being
    submitted by the client, but if getting the first row back -- which is how response time is generally perceived -- set the OPTIMIZER_MODE parameter in init.ora to FIRST_ROWS.
    3. There is minimal benefit to having data, index, rollback, and temp tablespaces all separated unless all the datafiles for each tablespace reside on different disks (data on disk 1, index on disk 2, etc). It's recommended regardless, but unless the files are on separate volumes, there won't be a great performance benefit.
    4. A procedure is invalidated whenever DDL is issued against any object that that procedure depends upon. For example, if you add a column to a table, any procedures which reference that table will be invalidated. Any procedures which reference views which reference that table will be invalidated, because the view will be invalidated. It's best to run a compile script which looks for and attempts to recompile any invalid objects on a daily basis.

  • Problems with v. 11.4.402.265 on firefox

    Hey,
    I have a problem with the newest version of flash player on firefox 11.4.402.265.
    I installed it. But now every clip or movie I play lags. sound and screen.
    Can anyone help me out?
    P.S. I had to uninstall my previous version of flash player, otherwise I couldn't install the newest.
    I dont know this has anything to do with it.
    thanks for helping me out!
    grtz

    Could you try the steps listed in this FAQ (especially the ones to disable protected mode and rollback to a previous version) to see if they help?
    How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?
