Problem with emptying trash

I downloaded an app from the mac app store earlier called disk diag which was very good and told me that i had 127.64gb in my trash so i deleted it, it then deleted all my trash but left 57 applications in there. whenever i tried to empty my trash before the number of files to delete just went up to about 200,000 then would just not delete anything. i have 57 applications in the trash which the disk diag did not delete but when i went to empty was what left in the trash by doing it through the actual trash file it says i have 280,000 files to delete or something. i was wondering why this is happening and whether there is a faster way to get rid of all these files.
it's currently at 256k but its taking absolutely ages. any help would be great, thanks very much

Take a look at this topic: NUL file in Trash won't go away.
You'll almost certainly find this file is in the Trash on a Windows volume, and you'll need to use Windows to get rid of it.

  • Stuck with emptying trash, no files deleted

    Hey all!
I'm trying to delete files from my Mac OS X Lion system, but it fails. Well actually, nothing happends. When i hit EMPTY TRASH, the dialog box opens with a note "emptying the trash" and showing the number of files to be deleted (486 files) - but nothing happends. It just hangs there.
I did the file persmissions repair, which initally took very long to kick off showing it will take some 7 hours... I got worried there, but then completed in about 5 mins....
    Any ideas whats going on?

To see what's in the trash:
Launch Terminal and copy & paste these commands:
    cd ~/.Trash
    Press Return
    Then enter ls Press return
This will list of the contents of your trash, so you can if there's anything you need you can drag it out. If not, follow these instructions:
Go to /Applications /Utilities/Terminal and launch it.
At the prompt, copy and paste this command
    sudo rm -rf ~/.Trash
    Press Return.
You will be asked to enter your admin password. It will be invisible.
    Enter it and press Return.
Log out and back in or restart.

  • Error Code 8003 with empty trash command

I am trying to empty trash and getting an error code -8003. I have deleted some very large iphot folders to free up disk space after moving them to a detached drive.  To complete the task, I am trying to empty trash. After about 30 seconds, I get an error code - 8003.
"The operation can't be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003)."

    Hey BY366,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are having issues emptying the Trash in Mac OS X 10.6.8. The following article may help to resolve your issue:
You can't empty the Trash or move a file to the Trash

If the above steps do not resolve your issue, see the section titled “Emptying the Trash” in the following resource. Please note that the steps outlined in this resource are highly advanced, and must be executed with caution. Typographical error or misuse of the "rm -rf" command can result in data loss. Insertion of a space in the wrong place could result in the complete deletion of data on your hard disk, for example.

  • Report Painter problem with empty selection variant

    Hello,
I use the cost center selection variant for the column definition in Report Painter as characteristic value. This selection variant get only the cost centers which are valid from 1.1.2003 to 31.12.2004. The column of the report created by Report Painter which uses this selection variant display value without taking into account limitations follow from this selection variant. I expect value zero for year fiscal year 2007 in this column, because the cost centers are invalid in 2007 year but the report displays different value. The problem appeared after upgrade from 4.6C to ECC 6.0.
    Best Regards
    ZD

My problem with Report Painter occurred when I was creating my own report based on 1VK library.
In my example I used in the column definition characteristic Cost
Center, which is determined by selection variant, and Basic Key Figure
equal SWKG-Costs. For system date (18.07.2007) there are no valid
master data for the characteristic Cost Center but when I execute
report for fiscal year 2007 the column display no-zero value without
taking into account value of Characteristic Cost Center. I expected
zero value in this column because there are no postings for Cost
Centers (no valid cost centers were selected) in financial year 2007.
Could you help me with this problem ?

  • Problem with empty report parameters when passed to PL/SQL function

    Hi,
We have come across what appears to be a bug in the JRC. When passing a report parameter to a PL/SQL function as a parameter, empty parameters are changed before being sent to the function. More specifically, an empty string "" ends up as the value "(')" in the PL/SQL function parameter. In our report we print the report parameters on the first page so we know that the parameters are OK before being passed to the database.
The problem exists for version 12.2.203, 12.2.204 and 12.2.205 of the JRC.
We have identified a workaround, but it is not exactly elegant: Before executing the report we modify all empty  parameters ("") to " " . In the PL/SQL function, we trim all parameters before using them.
We call the function using a command object with a sql syntax like this example:
    select * from table (qa_batch_release.get_qa_br('{?p_report_id}','{?p_reg_set_number}','{?p_cr_number}','{?p_change_id_decode}','{?p_country_id}','{?p_mfg_item_no}','{?p_4_no}','{?p_5_no}','{?p_7_no}'))
The PL/SQL function is a table returning function.
    Best regards, Thor

    Hi Kishore,
using #COLUMN_VALUE# would probably not make much sense, because normally a report has multiple columns and not just the numeric column which you want to verify if it's negative. But APEX will fire the template condition for each column, because the report template is a column cell template.
What you can do to make it more generic is to use for example
    #CHECK_AMOUNT#
in the template and provide a not displayed column in your SQL statement which contains your value which is named CHECK_AMOUNT. For example:
    SELECT NAME
         , BALANCE
         , BALANCE AS CHECK_AMOUNT
FROM XXX;Because this CHECK_AMOUNT column would be a generic name, you can use this template in all your reports as long as you provide this column.
    Thope that helps
    Patrick

  • Message-Mapping Problem with empty queue while testing

    Hello,
I want to develope an mapping to an BMEcat-structure. This mapping should be an filter.
My problem is, that everytime I want to check, if my mapping works correct, the queues for the proccessing steps keeps empty.
I filled a test case with all data I needed for the step I want to test (not the whole mapping is ready, but for this step, it is). Now I go to my mapping step an check the queue for the parameters and the queue comes up and displays the correct values. In next step I want to display the queue of an "equalsS"-Step, but this queue keeps empty as all following queues too. Sometimes there is coming up an empty "Processing log"-window.
The problem only comes up, if the target-message is a BMEcat-Structure.
Have you any solution for this behaviour? Or do you need more informations?

    Hello,
thank you for your tip, but the main problem is still existing. As you can see in the next screenshots, I build in your code and I'm sure it normally works fine. Also I filled the "have to"-Fields in the strukture, so that the check-function (F7) delivers an all right.
But still I get no queue results.

  • I have a problem with my trash. I have deleted all but It is sayinf I still have 51 to delete how do i get rid of this

I have a problem deleting trash. I have deleted all my trash but it still says that there are 51 how do I get rid of this.

There is no trash folder on an iPhone or any iOS device.
Do you mean the trash folder for your email account?
If so, try emptying it from a web browser on a computer.

  • Trouble with emptying trash

My Macbook Pro has started doing something odd - when I move an item from the desktop to the trash, I get a dialog box asking for my password, and when I enter it, it moves the item and immediately empties the trash. I used to be able to recover items that I'd moved to the trash, and could manually empty the trash, but I can no longer do this. Is there some setting that I inadvertently changed that is making it do this?

First, never empty the Trash in the shell (Terminal.) It's unnecessary and dangerous.
    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Problems with the Trash.

Simply put, when I try and delete content from my Mac, it prompts for a password and when entered, the file skips the trash and is deleted permanently. I think it may be permissions issue, but I have done permission checks with Disk Utility and it doesn't seem to work for me.
Any suggestions? Also, a quick note... this problem doesn't exist when deleting from my USB External Hard Drive or USB thumb drive. Just my startup disk.

  • Massive iPhoto Library Problems: cannot empty trash or delete photos

I did something really stupid: imported another iPhoto library into my existing one. The latter is now approx 200 GB -- and I think potentially half of it consists of duplicate photos. (I had about 30GB and then imported about 70GB and was shocked to find a new total of double what I expected!)
I have Duplicate Annihilator and I'm thinking of using it to delete the duplicates.
However, I'm unsure whether to use DA yet -- or even at all. This is because iPhoto currently will not let me: (1) delete any photos or (2) empty the (very small) iPhotos trash. If I presist and repreatedly try to empty the trash or delete a photo it finally crashes.
Should I fix the deleting/crashing problem first, before using DA? Or should I not even use DA at all but use a Time Machine backup to restore my original library and then import the other library properly (using perhaps iPhoto Library Manager)?
Basically, I just want to get rid of those tens of thousands of duplicates and reduce the librarty to what should be its genuine (non-duplicated) size of approx 100GB.
    Any advice greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks!
PS. I forgot to add that the rebarbative "Faces" is of course running and I can't figure out how to stop it trying to match 10, 000+ faces. I suppose it could be causing or adding to the problem.

Or should I not even use DA at all but use a Time Machine backup to restore my original library and then import the other library properly (using perhaps iPhoto Library Manager)?
    Is what you should do.
Note that you'll need the paid version ($20) of Library Manager to merge the libraries.

  • Problem with „Empty-File Handling" in PI 7.11

    Hi,
Iu2019m working in PI 7.11 with file adapter, Sender CC, option: Empty-File Handling: Process Empty Files.
What I want to do is giving target file the system-date, if the source file is empty.
But I always get a mapping error in RTWB: Premature end of file.
It seems that the payload is empty.
    Any idea?
    Thanks a lot in advance!

What I want to do is giving target file the system-date, if the source file is empty.
The error you are getting makes sense. You should do a check in the mapping, if the payload is empty then use brute force to pass the system date.

  • Problem with empty folder showing up in incorrect release folder

Thanks to several forum contributors I've got conditional build expressions working correctly to create five Single Source Layouts. To keep it simple, I'll use letters for the SSLs.

As you can see, all the licensed modules can access topics in the Core Help, but cannot access topics in any module that they have not licensed.
There are no untagged topics in the Help.
When I generate the Help for the licensed modules, RoboHelp creates an empty folder in each target Release folder that is related to one of those licensed modules. For example, the B, C, D, and E Release folders ALL contain an empty E folder.
I have gone through the project with a fine-tooth comb, verifying that the tags are correctly applied, checking images and baggage files, etc. But that empty E folder continues to appear.
Any thoughts about the next step that I might want to take to clean this up?
    Thanks.
    Carol

    HI Carol
Are you using Inclusive or Exclusive build expression?
Sounds like it's Inclusive, but thought I'd ask.
If so, you might try using Exclusive. Just clear tags with anything related to A. After all, it's included by default anyway, no? As an aside, if the folder is empty, not really seeing the concern. Just curiosity?
    Cheers... Rick

  • Problem with empty context fields

    Hello everyone,
I started a new project importing a web service model which generated the necesarry classes. Then I created the data links between the model, controller and views. Next, I defined some inputfields and mapped them to the context.
My problem is the following: Only a few fields allow themselves to be filled in, and others simply ignore any setters I call. (I'm not even calling the webservice yet, simply predefining some fields in do init)
In my wdDoInit method I simply create a new root element:
    wdContext.nodeRequest_INT_QueryAccProcReqRes_INT_QueryAccProcReqRes().bind(new Request_INT_QueryAccProcReqRes_INT_QueryAccProcReqRes());
Then, when the user clicks a button, or whatever, I try to retrieve the values he's filled in. Just for testing purposes.
    OnActionSearch:
    IWDMessageManager manager = wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager();
    String temp = wdContext.currentRequest_INT_QueryAccProcReqRes_INT_QueryAccProcReqResElement().modelObject().getMT_QueryAccProcReq().getCRMonDemand().getSearch().getIndustry();
    manager.reportException("industry: " + temp, false);
    temp = wdContext.currentRequest_INT_QueryAccProcReqRes_INT_QueryAccProcReqResElement().modelObject().getMT_QueryAccProcReq().getCRMonDemand().getSearch().getLocation();
    manager.reportException("location: " + temp, false);
The weird thing is that everything that's located under 1 specific node works flawlessly, and that everything else doesn't work. The message manager simply retrieves a null value.
Am I overlooking something obvious here?
Thank you for any help given,
    NR.

Just for a reference: this is what my context looks like:
    -Root
      -Request (0-n)
        -Query (0-1)
          -CrmOnDemand (0-1)
            -Search (0-1)
              +accountName
              +industry
              +location
              +sapAccountNbr
            +password
            +url
            +user
       -Response (0-1)
Doesn't initialising the Request node mean that everything that is beneath it is initialised as well? Because if I try to init every little sub-node and bind it to the context, nothing works anymore.
