Problem with entering Password?
When I attempt to boot up my iMac and try to type in my Password, I Cannot type the first Letter?
Does the BT keyboard work in all other respects? I wonder whether it's just BT taking a bit too long to wake up before typing. Maybe try it with a deliberate pause before inputting the pw with the BT keyboard.

Keyboard problems with Enter, delete, backspace, and right/left arrows
In some applications, such as Yahoo and this message block right now !!, when composing a message, the arrow keys and delete, backspace keys become non responsive. Various ones will work on a random basis.
I am getting double "carriage returns" also. Maybe this is why in Omegle when I press ENTER, it will not post a chat message; it will bring up a scroll box and for me to post the comment, I have to use the mouse to click ENTER.
I have changed batteries in my keyboard, uninstalled /reinstalled Firefox. I have checked the above websites in Chrome and other browsers, and there are no problems.
This has happened before, I don't recall what the solution was or if it just went away.'''

I have a user who's Active Directory password is going to expire. I had her reset her password by going to apple > system prefs > user > and clicking change password. She received the error "The password for the account "account name" was not changed. Your system administrator may not allow you to change your password or there was some other problem with your password. Contact your system administrator for help."
I had her change her password via the kpasswd command in terminal and that changed her password on the server sucessfully however the laptop has FileVault on it. Filevault is not recognizing the new password just the old password.
I have deleted the keychain which didn't resolve and now I am going to decrypt and reencrypt the drive. I'm hoping this is an isolated issue I have over 25 laptops configured like this.I "think" the trick was unbinding and rebinding the computer account.
After unencrypting and trying to reencrypt Filevault would still not take the new password.
Rebooted the prompt to update the keychain appeared. Updated the keychain. Filevault would still not take the new password.
Unbinded and rebinded the computer account. It worked and let me add the user to filevault. -
Ever since the last update or two I seem to have an irritating problem with entering URLs. If I'm navigating a site and modify the URL manually in the address field and hit enter, the URL reverts back automatically to the previous one instead of accepting the new modified entry.
For example if I'm on www.site.com/path/path and go to the URL bar and remove the last '/path' and hit enter, the browser seems to 'remember' and take me to the previous URL path, i.e. www.site.com/path/path. It doesn't matter whether the deleted text forms part of the URL path or whether its parameters after the path, or even if I modify the URL to something like www.site.com/path/anotherpath.
Once it starts 'remembering' there seems to be no way of getting around this except to close the browser down and start again. I've noticed this behavior on FF20.0.1 and also on FF21. It happens on all 3 of the PCs I use (2 at home, one at work). I'n not sure if its being caused directly by FF or the NoScript plugin (the latter seems unlikely).
Is there a setting somewhere to modify this behavior, or is it a bug?i couldn't find any documentation for it either, however after testing it, it appears that when browser.urlbar.autoFill.typed is set to '''true''' it means that only addresses you've once typed into the url-bar manually get autofilled, when browser.urlbar.autoFill.typed is set to '''false''' then all addresses that are stored in your history no matter if you have typed them in once manually or visited them through a link on a website.
browser.urlbar.autoFill will generally switch the autocomplete feature in the address bar on or off. -

IDES installation problem with DDIC password
Hello everybody,
After hours of searching and trying..
I have here a problem during a local installation of IDES ECC 6.0 on Windows Server 2008 with MAXDB. The installation stops in phase 27 of 29 u201Ccheck DDIC passwordu201D - test logon to SAP system failed, with the error message FRF-00007 "Unable to open RFC connection" in sapinst.
The MMC shows in the process list that the following processes stands oon "green": igswd, mag_Server and disp+work are running. The message of servers connection is OK, acts dialogue queue time is 0.00 sec.
I have already searched the forum, but I am not able to logon as user SAP* with u201C060. u2026u201D or as user DDIC with the password u201C199. u2026u201D to change the DDIC password to my password set during the installation (transaction -S000 / SU01). The login fails over the MMC as well as over the SAP GUI 7.10. I have tried this on the client 000, 001 and 800. The error message is u201CSAP Logon Failed - connection closed without message (CM_NO_DATA_RECEIVEDu201D). The SAP GUI gets down with "Work process restartet, session terminated".
What can help to solve the problem? Can it be a problem with the ms loop adaptor? Which static address IP must assign to the loop adaptor? Did i have to update the kernel of the data bank or is this not necessary? Can the information from dev_w help?
Can this link help me: BI 7.0 Installed but errored out during DDIC password check !!!!!!!
Thanks in advance

The kernel is not patched. I just (try) to install the kernel files from the sap market place
IDES download destination. The install kernel file was: 51033508_7 - NW7 SR3 Kernel 7.00 for Windows / LNX X86_X64. I got an update / upgrade file, which is called: 51033508_8 - NW7 SR3 Kernel .... Upg ABAP.
Can anybody give me an adwise by reading those logfiles? Is the file ok for updating the kernel?
How do I upgrade the kernel by having no .exe - file? May the installation go on after patching the kernel?
Thanks you really much

MobileMe Gallery and problems with new password
Hi. I'm using iPhoto 09, and have posted many MobileMe galleries over the years. Recently, I changed my MobileMe password. Now, iPhoto tells me that an "error occurred with the publication of album 'XYZ' Your MobileMe account information is not correct. The provided login or password is not valid" and it prompts me to return to MobileMe Preferences to re-enter my correct login and password. Well, the trouble is that I've done this many times. (Which also causes sync problems - but that's another story.) And though my System Preferences are now correct, I still cannot successfully update a MobileMe gallery in iPhoto. I checked my settings in the Keychain, and all is fine. I also trashed iPhoto preferences, but the problem still remains. Any thoughts on how to solve this irritating problem? Thanks!
I found another solution based on this posting.
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=689762
Works perfectly.
+I have the same problem and started a thread about it on Apple's discussion board, see http://discussions.apple.com/thread....art=0&tstart=0+
+First, I'd suggest sending Apple feedback on it (select "Provide iPhoto Feedback" from the iPhoto menu).+
+When you change your MM password, you need to enter the new password in MobileMe in System Preferences. When you select MobileMe in System Preferences, it will (correctly) say that your password has changed and ask for the new one.+
+It looks like the problem with iPhoto is that when you enter the new password in MobileMe preferences, the keychain entry for it isn't being updated. Look for publish.me.com in Keychain Access. It will probably have the old password. Changing it there and then signing out/in in MM System Preferences seems to fix the problem with iPhoto. If not, try deleting publish.me.com in Keychain Access and then sign out/in to MobileMe in System Preferences.+
+Give it a try and post what happens.+
Jay -
I have a windows Xp system with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 setup and using java 1.6
I'm using the JDBC-ODBC Bridge and also setup the DSN and that works fine.
The following code worked fine a few days back but now every time I enter a row of data and if the data type of a variable is varchar or char it enters the text followed by spaces.
Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver"); Connection con=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:Mydata","myusername","mypassword"); PreparedStatement stat2=con.prepareStatement("insert into Login(vUserName,vPassword,vAddress,age) values(?,?,?,?)"); stat2.setString(1,textName.getText()); stat2.setString(2,textPass.getText()); stat2.setString(3,textAddress.getText()); stat2.setInt(4,Integer.parseInt(textAge.getText())); stat2.executeUpdate(); JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(frame,new String("Your details have been registered"));
If I enter a name such as John in the textName field, when it updates the database, it adds spaces after John upto the max capacity. (The vUserName in the database is a VARCHAR(25) ).
Could this be a problem with the odbc driver or the jdbc driver?
P.S The username and password are bogus here.
Thanks in advance

ArcherKingHowdy people! I've finally fixed the problem. I've cornered the b***ard. I thought of posting the solution here just in case some one else runs into the same problem and gets stuck.
It is an option in the DSN setup of the ODBC driver.
[url #" style="display: block;
background-image:url('http://www.geocities.com/lijoethomas/sqlpadding.gif');
width:509px; height: 354px]
The picture above is one of the pages in the DSN setup for the sql server.
If the ANSI nulls, padding and warning option is enabled it pads your VARCHAR's and[b] CHAR's with white space.
VARCHAR's are supposed to be just the characters we enter.
Foot note
*** stands for "ast"
Cheers ;)

Problem with username/password using SQLAuthenticator
I want to setup SQLAuthenticator but authentication is refused because wrong username/password.
I am using JDev Studio Edition Version 11.1.2.1.0 with integrated WLS.
As a base I take this two URLs:
http://weblogic-wonders.com/weblogic/2010/03/11/configuring-sql-authenticator-with-weblogic-server/ and
http://biemond.blogspot.com/2008/12/using-database-tables-as-authentication.html
1. I create db tables (default table names for SQLAuthenticator), but don't fill users and groups - OK
2. In WLS I create new SQLAuthenticator Authentication provider inside deafult realm myrealm - OK
3. I put this provider to the top among all three providers
4. In JDev I configure ADF Security - define Enterprise Roles to matching to the names in GROUPS table of SQLAuthenticator - ??
5. I Define Application users and roles and setup Resource grants
6. I run my application
7. In database tables USERS, GROUPMEMBERS, GROUPS I can see users and roles from Jdev, that means, at deploy time, this tables are filled too
8. In WLS I can see Users and Groups under myrealm which are transfered at deploy time and mirrors USERS, GROUPMEMBERS, GROUPS
9. In USERS table I can see password is encripted by {SHA-1}
But when try to login I am always rejected with "Invalid username or password".
Before setting up SQLAuthenticator (only default options) the logins were successful, so application shold be OK.
I try also with Plaintext Passwords Enabled and put into USERS table unencripted password, but without success.
I can confirm that SQLAuthenticator mechanism actually get password from USERS table. I replaced default SQL for getting password from
SELECT U_PASSWORD FROM USERS WHERE U_NAME = ?
to
select get_pwd(?) as U_PASSWORD from dual. In my get_pwd PL/SQL function I perform logging in I can see that this function was called.
So the problem is in WLS when comparing passwords.
Any suggestions, where to start digging?

Sašo

Edited by: Sašo C. on 5.10.2011 7:32The problem is solved! Crucial was hint from http://biemond.blogspot.com/2008/12/using-weblogic-provider-as.html:
The Control Flag for my new SQLAuthenticator Authentication provider must be changed from Optional to Sufficient AND
the Control Flag for existing DefaultAuthenticator must be changed from Required to Sufficient!
It seems that before SQLAuthenticator took password from USERS table, but didn't use it in the authentication process.

Problem with Enter key and JOptionPane in 1.4
Hi,
I had a problem with an application I was working on.
In this application, pressing [Enter] anywhere within the focused window would submit the information entered into the form that was contained within the frame.
The application would then try to validate the data. If it was found to be invalid, it would pop up a JOptionPane informing the user of that fact.
By default, pressing [Enter] when a JOptionPane is up will activate the focused button (in most cases, the [OK] button) thus dismissing the dialog.
In JDK 1.3 this worked fine. But in JDK 1.4, this has the result of dismissing the dialog and opping it up again. This is because the [Enter] key still works on the frame behind the JOptionPane and thus tries to validate it again, which results in another invalid dialog msg popping up.
The only way to get out is to use the mouse or the Esc key.
Now, in the application I put in a workaround that I was not very happy with. So, to make sure it wasn't the application itself, I created a test which demonstrates that it still misbehaves.
Here it is.

import java.awt.FlowLayout;

import java.awt.event.KeyEvent;

public class FocusProblemTest extends AbstractAction
private static JFrame frame;
public FocusProblemTest()
super();
putValue(NAME, "Test");
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(frame, "This is a test.");
public static void main(String[] args)
FocusProblemTest action= new FocusProblemTest();
try
UIManager.setLookAndFeel(UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName());
catch (Exception e)
e.printStackTrace();
frame= new JFrame("Test");
frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(WindowConstants.DISPOSE_ON_CLOSE);
Container contents= frame.getContentPane();
contents.setLayout(new FlowLayout());
JTextField field= new JTextField("Test");
field.setColumns(30);
JButton button= new JButton(action);
KeyStroke enterKey = KeyStroke.getKeyStroke(KeyEvent.VK_ENTER, 0, true);
button.getInputMap(JComponent.WHEN_IN_FOCUSED_WINDOW).put(enterKey, "test");
button.getActionMap().put("test", action);
contents.add(field);
contents.add(button);
frame.pack();
frame.setVisible(true);
}Does anyone have any solution to this problem?I know that focus management has changed alot.
Based on my experimentation a while back, in 1.4 it still believes that the JFrame is the window in focus, even though a JOptionPane is currently in front of it (unless I misinterpreted what was going on). Thus, the frame seems to get the keyboard event and re-invoke the action.

Problems with the Password File Authentication
Hi,
I try to implement the Password File Authentication in my PC (Window XP). I did :
a) orapwd file:=C:\oracle\ora92\dbs\orapw.pwd password=sys2003 entries=5
b) I set the REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE to EXCLUSIVE
c) I created a user "willer" (With SYSTEM login)
d) I tried to give the sysdba privilege to the user willer :
SQL> grant sysdba to willer;
grant sysdba to willer
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
e) I tried to connect like a sysdba with the user SYS end password sys2003 but :
SQL> connect sys as sysdba;
Enter password: *******
ERROR:
ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
Warning: You are no longer connected to ORACLE.
SQL>
How can I do to login with the SYS login to give the sysdba privilege to my user willer ? And why I can't log into my database with the SYS login ?
Thank you for your response because I am very lost....
Eric WillerHi,
Thank you for your response...
I deleted all my databases in my PC and reconstructed just one (certific), after that I followed your instruction and now I can connect into the database with the sys as sysdba login. But I just have one stangeness : I created a user willer and gave to him the sysdba privilege, when i log into the database with this user I can log on like a sysdba with wich ever user I want, even if the user doesn't exist.
Exemple :
Personal Oracle9i Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production
With the Partitioning, OLAP and Oracle Data Mining options
JServer Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production
Welcome to SQL*Plus!
You are connected to CERTIFIC.ORACLE.DATABASE as WILLER
SQL> connect nicole as sysdba;
Enter password:
Connected.
SQL>
I don't need to improve a password and I have never created the user nicole.
I don't understand.... What's wrong ?
I try with another user, I just created a serge user with just the create session privilege. I can log on with this user like a sysdba :
Welcome to SQL*Plus!
You are connected to CERTIFIC.ORACLE.DATABASE as SERGE
SQL> connect serge as sysdba
Enter password:
Connected.
SQL>
Thank you for your response...

Hello All, I'm learning how to use databases at the moment and came across something that caused many headaches for me. It was enough for me to post this to see what others out there thought about the issue, if it is even an issue at all.
Ill try to be concise but as short as possible.
Background:
Installed Oracle 10g XE
Created a new user using the database homepage
New user details:
User: dan
Pass: (the password was fairly 'random' it happen to start with @)
When i opened CMD within vista OS and typed sqlplus the application opened successfully.
The username and password were entered and i recieved the text below as the response.
Enter user-name: dan
Enter password: @*******
SP2-0306: Invalid Option
Usage: blah blah
It turns out that it was my password that was holding me back, i created a new user with u/p dan/dan and it worked fine. The @ symbol is all i could put it down to, but no where at any point during the creation of the user did it complain about the use of @. But perhaps i was using the system wrong? Enter user name, enter password, seems simple enough.
If this is not a bug of sorts then the error message was very confusing and misleading because i believed i had set it up correctly.
This can be reproduced.
I know there is some really smart dba's out there, what are your thoughts?
ThanksNo belief necessary. Passwords follow object naming rules.
Nonquoted identifiers must begin with an alphabetic character from your database character set. Quoted identifiers can begin with any character.
Nonquoted identifiers can contain only alphanumeric characters from your database character set and the underscore (_), dollar sign ($), and pound sign (#). Database links can also contain periods (.) and "at" signs (@). Oracle strongly discourages you from using $ and # in nonquoted identifiers.
Quoted identifiers can contain any characters and punctuations marks as well as spaces. However, neither quoted nor nonquoted identifiers can contain double quotation marks or the null character (\0).

Hi there, I want to use Spotify with my Squeezebox System. I got a trial premium membership and I requested a device username etc.because I have to login via facebook (german account) . But I never received an email with a password. So what can I do? Thanks in advance André
Hey! Welcome to the community :)
The new help pages went live yesterday and there are a few issues to iron out, I have brought this one to the attention of the Spotify team. In the meantime, use the instructions below (which I have stolen from Tivo) to set your device username and device password:
Click here to visit the Spotify sign in page.
On the sign in page, click Log in with Facebook. This’ll launch a new window.
In the new window, enter your Facebook email address and password, and click Log In.
Make a note of the device username – usually a string of numbers. You’ll need this later to sign in to Spotify on TiVo.
Click Send e-mail to set password.
Check the email account you use to sign in to Facebook.
You’ll have an email from Spotify – open it and click the Set your device password link.
On the Set a password for your devices page, enter a memorable password and click Set device password.
