Problem with ethernet

I had a connect with 2 computers - pc and macbook. I often switched cable between them and one day connect on macbook disappeared and it still disappears. But connect on pc is ok and I don't know what is a problem - or it's a bad cable, or it's a bad ethernet-adapter. Does anybody know what I must doing?
p.s. sorry with english, I don't know it very good

But I haven't a modem - just a cable, which plugs into ethernet port. And macbook says that cable isn't plugged in, but it can't be true!! Later all was ok and I had a good connect!

  • Problems with Ethernet controller and PCI device driver on Satellite L30-10X

    Hellow!
Sorry for my bad English, I'm from Russia.
Just few days ago I bought Satellite L30-10X with W Vista on board. My opinion, that this OS does't very good on this computer, so I install W XP.
I have some problems with drivers. At first, I dont know what model I have:PSL30 or PSL33? I download all drivers for both models. But, after installation, computer doen't find drivers for Ethernet controller and PCI device...

    Hi
Satellite L30-10X belongs to the PSL33E series. This number can be found on the label placed on the bottom of the unit!
You have to choose this number from the driver download form to get the compatible XP drivers.
I dont know why you are not able to install the LAN driver. Ive got the same notebook with Vista and Ive installed the XP and all drivers run fine.
I assume you have installed the drivers in wrong order. Please take the look in the Toshiba installation instruction txt file. In this order you have to install the driver! Its important.
I think you should install the XP again to ensure the clean registry and then download and install the compatible XP drivers like mentioned in the installation instruction file.
    Good luck

  • Problem with ethernet port

So I have a wierd problem.
Sometimes the ethernet port is working, sometimes not.
I've tested the ethernet cable and it works perfect with other computerS.
I've tested my macbook pro with other ethernet cables and the problem still occurs.
I've tested the ethernet plug (in the wall) and it works pefect with other computerS.
So only last potential problem : the ethernet plug / card IN my macbook pro.
It is a 2.8 Ghz Intel Core i7 with 8 Gb of 1067 Mhz DDR3 RAM, and OS X 10.7.4.
The problem is just random... sometime it works, sometime it doesn't... sometimes it works, and stop working... sometimes it works for days without problems... sometimes it doesn't work for days, with nothing to do.
Can anyone help? I don't think I'm on the warranty anymore... so before I go drop my MBP at an Apple Store, I want to make sure I've tryed everything.
Especially for the price I paid for this MBP, can't believe I'm hustling with such a basic feature......
    THANKS FOR THE HELP!!!

I've used the reset chache solution with mixed success. I finally tripped over something that actually works every time.  The "secret" seems to be getting the apply button active when you are on the "location" where the ethernet connection is configured.  Here is what I did.
move the ethernet connection configuration to another "location" within network preferences.  I called mine Home Wired.
When the cable disconnected situation occurs, switch to the location that has wireless and enable wireless. Now turn it back off.
Switch to the wired location and highlight the wired configuration and click apply.  It goes through the steps of acquiring an IP and then you are connected.

  • Pismo: problem with Ethernet access

Hello. I have a new (used) Pismo with OS 10.3 installed. I operate a LAN via a DSL connection. I cannot get the Pismo on to the network. I use a cable that works fine with my G4 iBook, but when moved over to the Pismo; the Pismo cannot be made to access the LAN. I have looked over all the settings and cannot figure it out. This is also happening with a similarly configured G3 iBook SE (clam shell). Any ideas or suggestions. Thanks.

    Peter,
OK, that is similar to my own setup (substituting a cable modem for the DSL, but I used to have a DSL). Wondering why you are using the LinkSys Router instead of the Airport Base station, since the ABS will do everything as well as pass Appletalk packets (between computers, wired and wireless) while the Linksys will only work with TCP/IP.
Anyway, I assume you Linksys is set up to hand out DHCP addresses and also do the NAT from the single DSL IP address. Your computers are all set up to receive a TCP/IP address via DHCP, right? Finally, I would create a location in 10.3.9 Network system preference that has ONLY the Ethernet network port configuration defined. Do not leave it set to "automatic" since it may try to connect using some other means (such as the modem). If you have upgraded to Airport 4.2, that may also be causing some problems, although it is the Ethernet connection we are talking about.
Note that I have had some problems with DHCP in the past so I use hard-defined Ethernet addresses for all my machines and not DHCP. Mine are all in the 10.0.1.x range (using the Airport Base station), but I think Linksys uses the 192.168.1.x range. You might try that, too.
How are you using your Airport Base Station? And what model is it? Do you have wireless clients? Did any of the above resolve the issue?

  • Z77A-GD65 Problems with Ethernet (Intel 82579V) Code 10 and 55 error

it is just a day with disaster. I bought Z77A-GD65 yesterday, and now it almost driver me crazy , i have two most famous problem of the board ,the CODE10 and ERROR 55!!!
after i bought this board to home ,i spend few hour to figure out the reason why the system can not be booted.
the DIMM SLOT 3&4 of my board is malfunction,no matter what combination i use (1&3,2&3, 3&4...etc),but it works for 1 and 2(i have 4 ram sticks, all of them is fine)
i do upgrade to BIOS 10.5(thx god ,i have two computer ,otherwise i cant even do it because of following issue)
after i solve the problem by only plug in 2 ram (DIMM1&2), succeed to boot up, a new problem occurred to me ,the CODE10!
latest driver , clean system install ,cmos cleaned, does not help.
i have read this thread for code10
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=158591.msg1167303#msg1167303
    and  for error55
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=158224.0
it seems the best way to solve it is RMA.
I notice that there is an Authorized Motherboard Repair Center (East Coast):
    361 Alden Road
    Markham, Ontario, L3R 3L
i live in Toronto, can i just go there and give the board to them  to fix it or i can only mail it?
If i need to mail it ,what should i do?

Code 10 means the device cannot start. You have the right driver for the Intel 82579V is shorted by either a motherboard screw or a raiser under it. The ethernet adapter has lights which light up id driver is installed (even though code 10 is in effect).
Solution: Remove 1 or 2 motherboard screws and turn the pc on. Repeat until you find out which screw caused the issue. For me it was the screw closest to the ethernet controller.
The wa i fixed it was I was used a plastic washer and I was still able to have the motherboard screw in and at the same time not get code 10 anymore and my Intel 82579V worked fine since.

  • Windows 8.1 Upgrade problem with Ethernet on a Flex 15

Windows 8 was upgraded to Windows 8.1 Upgrade on a Flex 15.
The first time I tried to do the upgrade, I had enough problems that I re-installed from a Windows 8.1 image.  All went well and all the drivers work except the Ethernet.  The upgrade was relatively painless if you ignore the necessary reboots.
The latest Ethernet driver was downloaded from Lenovo and it was upgraded through Device Manager to version 8.26.218.201
In spite of Device Manager saying the Realtek ethernet adapter is working, no network is recognized by Networks and Sharing Centrewith when an ethernent cable is plugged into the Flex 15 i.  The cable is good and has been checked by way of another computer.
I have previously used the hard-wired ethernet once and it worked but I do not remember where the laptop stood during the pgrade path.
This may be a hardware problem which will require mailing the laptop for the repair, or it may be a software / dirver issue.
If anyone has a suggestion, please let me know.  The only other thing I can do is reistall from scratch to confirm it is a hardware problem.
    With thanks in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

OK  So I'm not the smartest cookie in the cookie jar.
The Ethernet worked all along, but I inserted the ethernet cable UP-SIDE-DOWN.  The Flex 15 has a 1/2 size ethernet female plug and it has a small cover which flips down.  This is to allow the adapter in a thin shell
The male end can be plugged in upsidedown unlike a normal-sized ethernet female.  It goes in, but does not click.  So a word to the wise ... the plastic prong of the male end is on the bottom.

  • Z77A-GD65 Problems with Ethernet (Intel 82579V) Code 10

    Hi,
on a fresh install of Windows 7 64bit i cannot make the Ethernet port on the motherboard work. It installs fine, but when i check device manager i see this message:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
I downloaded the latest driver, but still no change.
Looking in device manager, i noticed that the driver Windows had selected was Intel 82579LM, so i reinstalled the driver, and forced 82579V driver, but still no change. I assumed this must be a defect motherboard, so i rma'd it, and got a new one....with the same problem!!!
So any ideas with to do ?

Can you send the motherboard to me directly for analysis?
If needed, I will replace the board for you through RMA service.
Please email me at [email protected] but be sure to put my name in the subject field and your board model so it will come to me correctly.

  • My Lombard is having problems with Ethernet

I just bought a used Lombard and am having some really strange problems trying to connect to my lan. I'm using a Belkin wireless router, but until I find a wireless card was planning on wiring it directly. At the present time, I have a 400mhz G4 tower, an HP printer, and a Vonage phone box connected and all three work fine. My wife and daughters can connect their PeeCee laptops wirelessly so I've ruled out any router problems. I've swapped cables between my tower and laptop and both work with the tower, but the laptop is having problems. I'm using mac address filtering with my router and my router is recognizing that the Lombard is connected. It gives my computer name, mac address and even shows that the Lombard has a valid IP address: 192.168.2.6 however the Lombard says that this is it's address: 169.254.147.255 and it will not connect to anything. Since the router seems to think it's connected I guess I can rule out a bad network card.
Since I just bought the computer, I immediately reformatted the hard drive and installed 9.2 when I found I could not connect. Though now it boots much faster it didn't solve the connection problem. I've RTM over and over and checked Appletalk, Filesharing settings and anything else I could think of, but nothing seems to work.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    G4 400mhz powermac   Mac OS X (10.4.6)
    G4 400mhz powermac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Thanks, that definitely is a consideration as I have an eMac at work that did something similar after a storm as it now only pulls a .255 broadcast address with DHCP. I have to set it with a static address or it drags the whole network down (our tech person gripes and claims you can't do that with a DHCP server, but it works).
As I said, I'm looking for a wireless card, but it would be nice to have a working ethernet port when wireless isn't available.

  • Problems with ethernet and wifi after 10.5.8

In school we log online through a system where a window appears in Safari (or other web browser) where you write in your username and password. Same is for Ethernet and Wifi. After update 10.5.8, this system no longer works. Only logo of the service provider appears but the boxes for username and password are missing.
Everything works with my old iBook G4.
    Any ideas?

My son is at school in the USA and he is reporting the same problem getting onto his university network. His new MacBook is getting the 'self-assigned IP' message with DHCP. This is not a good start to the school year.

  • Problem with ethernet jack, works fine wirelessley

I just moved into a new place that has ethernet jacks in each room. I happened to have one right behind the tv stand where the Apple TV is. If I plug the Apple TV into the ethernet jack it disappears out of iTunes.
If I unplug it and it uses the wireless AEBS Extreme network all works well as far as connecting, but since my place has metal studs the wireless connection has a little too much noise for the best connection, that's why I thought the ethernet jack would be better.
I know the ethernet jack works fine, I tested it with my MacBook Pro and it works perfectly fine with the ethernet jack.
Any suggestions on how to use the ethernet jack and keep Apple TV displayed as a device in iTunes?

Sounds like you have determined the ethernet jack is physically good.
Are you using fixed IP addresses or DHCP? If you don't use DHCP you may have to enter your IP address, subnet mask, router, and DNS addresses via the settings of AppleTV..

  • Very strange problem with Ethernet

(All this started to happen after Maverick update)
On fresh start everything work OK, Ethernet and Wireless. I usually work only on Ethernet, with Wirelles turned off. But after some time, my Mac just turn Wirelles on by itself, and disable Ethernet connection. What is most strange, after that point I cannot open System Preferences. Start to open (jumping icon few times) and nothing happen, no window, nothing. Only thing I can do is to Force Quit System Preferences. And only after that I can restart Mac.
Of course, after restarting everything is back to normal, i can open System Preferences, Ethernet is working etc. Didn't figure out yet after which time ethernet stop to work.
    Please help!

So it works with AirPort but not over Ethernet?
Have you tried creating a new location in System Preferences Network pane, and setting Ethernet up from the default settings?
Make sure the iMac G5 is not set up to do +Internet Sharing+ (using the Ethernet port); look in System Preferences Sharing pane, and turn OFF +Internet Sharing+ if it is currently ON.
Is one of the other workstations a Mac? If so, you could use it to test the iMac G5's Ethernet port, by connecting it directly and using +File Sharing+ (I suppose you could do that even with a Windows PC).

  • Help, problem with ethernet t42

i have a t42 laptop and i can not connect to the internet with the ethernet cord, my wireless is working fine ( wouldnt care if i actually had a wireless router). i have download all the drives download and nothing works.  i tried to install the 100/1000 thing and it says that i dont have the hardware?? whatever that means cause i if this computer has the port for the etherbet that it has to have the hardware. checked the bios and nothing. did all the windows update and nothing.i go into internet connections and it only shows the wireless. the only time i see the ethernet when im cr8ing a new set up connection or netword and i click the box where is says '' show connection options that this computer is not set up to use'' when i click it. it shows the broadband PPPoE( i think thats the ethernet right?) when i try to connect like that i get ''connection failed with error 651''  i feel like i wanna break this thing. can some please help me and put the ethernet back this laptop. thank you in advance

Your LAN card is dead, or disabled in BIOS.
If it's dead you'll have to get a PCMCIA card since Gigabit LAN is integrated into the motherboard on these machines and can't be replaced.
    Good luck.

  • Problem with Ethernet ( & or Ethernet Cable Jack )  Macbook Pro 13'3 ( 2010 )

My Ethernet Cable is jacked both in my mac and my router . I just want my mac ( macbook pro 13'3 2010 ) to get an Ethernet ID . Instead besides my router flashes green at the "Ethernet" indication my macbook is just in no mood , in showing the ethernet .
The main problem is that i ve tried almost everything i know . I mean i switched preferences i opened DHCP and closed it many times , and also done some renews , nei a thousand renews . I can not understand what is going on . My mac's ethernet is not ruined i think because of the green light i said before on the router .
It's of paramount importance to me because some music software failed and require further activation , that needs Ethernet ID to build a Challenge Code.
Any help will be loved .
    -cheers

With the ethernet connected, go to... System Preferences/Internet & Network/NetworkUnlock the padlock
    Locations:  Automatic
    Highlight Airport
    Click the Assist Me button
In the popup window click the Diagnostic button.
    Post back the results.
