Problem with favorites

The " add to favorites" option is not showing in contacts when I add a new contact. Also the + sign for adding when in favorites was not showing until I deleted a couple of favorites. Any help?

I just checked through the on-line users guide and it doesn't mention anything about limits on favorites. Can't help you any further than that.

Importing from BO XI R2 to 3.1 problems with Favorites and User Memberships

I am having a problem when using the Import Wizard to import users and groups. I marked it to import favorite folders for selected users and all groups and users. Well, the user favorites folder keeps failing with "The owner of this Favorite Folder was not found" and the groups are not associating the users in the new system under the same alias with the groups.
Old system I am using AD NTLM. New system I am using AD Kerberos.

Thanks for the info. However, I think I need to be clearer.
The AD plugin has been configured on the destination system with no groups mapped. It has AD enabled and updated so the initial batch of users were imported in without any further manipulation.
When migrating the users and groups from the source system, all of the groups seem to have migrated over fine. However, all of the users from the source that has AD did not migrate over to the destination system because it says there is a duplicate. That is why the groups did not map these users and the favorites did not go through.. please let me know if this is not clear.
I do not want to change all of the system users to Enterprise and then transfer them over as enterprise and then configure them as AD users... this may end up causing more problems and may not even work

Problem with Favorites Item in Finder

I have a mounted Hard Drive Partition that keeps showing up in Finder Favorites Sidebar. I have removed the item from Favorites but it keeps showing up. I have tried deleting Finder Preferences but that did not solve my problem. And yes I do know how to remove items from the Favorites Sidebar. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated. BTW, I don't know how the Hard Drive Partition appeared in the Favorites Sidebar in the first place. I did not or don't remember placing it there.

Problems with favorite folders in Time Machine sidebar

Most of the favorite folders in the Time Machine display sidebar (Documents, Music, etc.) only work when the timeline is set to "now" and do no "go back in time". I can still access the backups for earlier dates for such folders by "going back in time" for the boot drive.
In other words, using the "Music" Time Machine browser sidebar favorite folder as an example:
-If i click on the "Music" sidebar favorite Time Machine browser folder with "now" selected in the timeline, it works.
-I can't select any other date in the timeline for the "Music" sidebar favorite folder.
-I can select any dates I want ("now" or previous dates) for the boot disk in the sidebar.
-If I select a previous date for the boot disk, I can access the music subfolder for such a date in the boot disk list of folder, but I still can't select it from the sidebar.
How do I solve this? I would rather avoid having to start over. Thanks.

Reboot and run "Repair Disk" (not "Repair Permissions") on the external drive (not the internal drive.)

Problems with Maps 2.0, favorites look-up and adre...

I have the latest version of Nokia Maps (v2.0 wk26 b02) installed on my N82 some days ago. But now i have problems with adress search. I often notice that adresses that i try to search for, returns no results. This problem appears even if i can see the see the adress on the map, and even if i am connected to a network.
And if i sometimes find an adress, and try to the function "show location on map", nothing happens...
This also apply to some of the favorites that i saved earlier. For instance i have saved several places where my family live, but only one of two them can is now working as they did before. When i try the same function "show location on map", nothing happens...
I even try to save new locations but the problem is still there. When i try to show the locations on map nothing happens.
Is it only me that have this problem? Is there anyone that have an solution to this problem, or is it a bug that comes with the latest version og Nokia Maps?

Hi again.
After a long time with trying and failing with solving this problem, and installed the latest maps 2.0 application all over again, and even installing the 1.0 application nothing helped.
I even updated the firmware on the phone, but nothing helped. Nothing helped at all.
But suddenly, with all these mapsproblems something else happened to. You know the multimediabutton on the front, (the one that is a little higher than the others) suddenly wouldn't work at all. If i pushed it the dislplay only "blinked" for a second, and then returned to the normal display again.
So to solve all problems i decided to use the *#7370# function to reset the phone completely (after i backed up my data of course). Suddenly everything is working again.
After this i upgraded to the maps 2.0 latest, and installed all my applicatons again. I can now search adresses again and see them on the map, i can save favourites and view them on the map....
And now my multimediabutton is back to normal again aswell.
So the problem is now solved :-)

Printing problem with .pdf

27" iMac (2012), OS X 10.9.1, Canon MF4770n laser connected by ethernet cable through AirPort Extreme, HP C4200 connected directly via USB
The Problem: I received a .pdf file via e-mail and downloaded it. It consisted of a series of forms in unknown original format. I needed to print them out, sign them and return them. I opened .pdf in Preview but when I tried to print it, I got only blank pages from the printer. The printer seemed to be operating normally in all other respects.
What I have tried:
1. Successfulloy printed material from other applications using the same computer and Canon printer.
2. Successfully printed a different .pdf file from Preview using the same computer and Canon printer.
3. Successfully printed the offending .pdf from Preview on the same computer and the HP ink jet printer.
4. Successfully printed the offending .pdf from Adobe Reader using the same computer and Canon printer.
Since I was able to print the .pdf using Adobe Reader, this problem is not critical but it is rather mysterious. Any suggestions would be appeciated.

1. stop the print queue on your system
2. shut the printer power off for about a minute to clear any printer memory
3. turn on the printer
4. start the print queue

New RAM problems with my Dual G4 1.25 MDD

Howdy I've had my Dual G4 1.25 MDD for 2 years and love it. I got it with 1GB RAM, thinking I was set. For Christmas I wanted to Upgrade the RAM to 2GB. from My PowerMac G4 Manual I knew I needed 2x 512MB PC2700 DDR333 CL2.5 SDRAM DIMM's.
I went to DealRam (part of DealMac) and found 18004memory.com The price seemed great $39 per stick. I ordered it and within a week got 2x 512MB DIMM's. Problem was it was the Wrong RAM spec. I tried that RAM in my Mac 30 different ways and Everytime the computer either wouldn't boot, or it would suffer Kernel Protection Faults. One time it did boot up but the RAM only recognized as 2x 256MB DIMM's. I called the company, got an RMA and returned the RAM, this time they sent me 2 replacement DIMM's.... for a POWERBOOK, SO-DIMM's. I returned it again and finally Got from them the
2x 512MB PC2700 DDR333 CL2.5 SDRAM DIMM's. They call it Hyperspeed RAM. Anywho, I powered down let the system cool over night and in the morning, popped it open, put the RAM in the 2 open slots DIMM2/J23 & DIMM3/J20. closed it back up and powered up. Everything was snappier, the boot was quicker and I checked About this Mac, it says 2GB. Apple System Profiler showed all 4 DIMM's and I thought everything was fine.
Computer ran great for hours, no issues. Everything seemed quicker. Computer went to sleep overnight, next day woke from sleep and Tried to use iTunes and during an extensive sort for Songs, the system Locked up. Nothing would work. Had to force restart. this time I tried to Run my favorite online Game, WoW and after it loaded and I started to play, within 5 mins the whole game locked up. The audio sound went into a sort of Loop, I couldnt force quit and had to force reboot. This happened several times. I finally decided to Run the Apple Hardware Test. The Quick test locked up after running 2mins. I let it sit for 1hr just in case it was still doing something and the progress bar and time never progressed. So i forced reboot, ran Test again this time as Extended test. at 8 min & 31 sec the test stopped and I got an Error Code, this time I wrote it down "2MEM/2/4: DIMM3/J20."
I guess that DIMM failed. I shutdown, popped open case, and removed DIMM3/J20 leaving the Original 1GB RAM and One of the 512MB Upgrades. I rstarted the Test again and Ran the Extended Test once more. It ran for 27mins & 24 secs and everything passed. So. 1.5GB is better than just 1GB. I powered down and powered back up to try and play WoW. Within 5 mins of loading game to play, everything locked up again.
So I took both of the new RAM out and left the Original 1GB RAM and ran Test everything was great no Errors. Rebooted, and went onto WoW again and was able to play for several hours. I quit game and shut down for night.
I have since Tried the 2x 512MB DIMM's in over 10 different variations in the computer with and without the original RAM and everytime I run a high end program or game (WoW, iTunes, and Photoshop), I get lock ups, crashes, and other screen weirdness.
I dont want to have to Return the Memory again. I am already out over $15 from s/h with RMA's.
PLEASE Any ideas what to do?
1 thing I noticed the RAM gets very very hot, when I've powered down tand removed the new RAM. I wonder if there is a cooling issue?
Anytime I put the Original 1GB RAM in, I dont have problems!

Sounds very much like faulty RAM to me, I'm afraid. I'm not sure about the temperature it's running at, but if the surrounding DIMMs aren't having a problem then I would definitely point the finger at those new memory sticks not being up to scratch.
If you were convinced it was temperature related then you could always try putting heat spreaders on the memory to help with cooling, but as these stick (semi-permanently) to the RAM then you would never be able to return them.
My personal opinion is that you should send the RAM back and buy two new DIMMs from Crucial Technology. I only ever buy RAM made by them and I've never had a problem with it - it's the same stuff Apple themselves generally use and works a charm every time. Probably not the news you wanted to hear, but that's probably the only way you're going to get a stable machine with 2GB RAM.

Error while opening pdf in reader in windows 8:Can't open this file. There's a problem with file format

I have a problem with a pdf file which does not open with reader in windows 8 but it opens properly with adobe pdf reader. All other pdf can be opened in reader.But when i open a pdf(see this link for pdf for which i got error http://incometaxsoft.com/temp/Form.pdf)
it gives error as "Can't open this file. There's a problem with file format".
The same file opens properly in adobe pdf reader.You can check the pdf file which i have mentioned in the link above.But the reader which comes with windows 8 can open some other pdf in the same PC.What may be the error causing this??

This has turned out to be an enormous issue for me as I sell PDF files as ebooks. I have done a fair amount of investigating this for my system.
My files have to be compatible not just across readers but across operating systems.
To date, I have over 200 PDFs that have functioned flawlessly across Mac, PC (Windows 7 and below), Android, iPhone/iPad, Linux.
I personally test my PDFs using a variety of readers and PDF editors including
PDF XChange (my favorite)
Foxit (runner up for me and I recommend for most people)
Adobe (the bloated monster)
Nitro 9 (great for moving graphical elements around)
ABBYY
And the Nuance PDF Create toolsets
Those are off the top of my head. There are a bunch on Android that I test with too.
I am running the Windows 10 Pro Tech Preview and I have this same problem so I know it isn't fixed yet in any kind of pre-release way (-sigh-)
Here is what I've learned for my situation
The PDFs I created using NUANCE'S PDF CREATE PROFESSIONAL VERSION 8
all fail using the built-in Windows 8/10 PDF reader.
When I look at the PDF properties for these Nuance created files, the underlying engine used to write them is called "ImageToPDF". Using ABBYY it indicates their own engine as does everyone else that I've tried. It is easy for you to check to see
what created your PDF by doing a "Control D" (look at the document properties). Perhaps there's a common engine causing issues.
If I use the exact same source files to create a PDF using any of my other tools I have no issues. I checked the PDF versions made by the tools and they are all set to 1.5.
A customer mentioned being able to convert them in a way they worked by saving them without having to do any kind of extraction, but I have not been able to duplicate that. Perhaps he did a "print" which seems like it could work.
In summary, the workaround everyone is talking about, using an alternate reader, of course works. But not everyone wants to change.
The culprit I have found is my Nuance PDF Creation tools that are using the ImageToPDF engine.
I hope it gets FIXED as I really don't want to have to regenerate all of my PDF files.

Multiple Problems with Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980 laptop??

We purchased the Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980 laptop at Best Buy about a week ago. However, we seem to be having multiple problems with it, that I wouldn't have expected from a brand new Toshiba.
Problems:
Whenever I'm in Mozilla Firefox browser, it crashes 90% of the time. Firefox was always my favorite on our previous computer, and still is, I just can't use it because it continually crashes.
In Outlook, whenever I try to open a message or reply, or basically any general command, it pops up an error message that says, "Could not install the custom actions," and then does whatever I'd wanted it too. It's a pain, as we do a lot of email and calendar through Outlook.
In Outlook, when I tried to import our Contacts, it says that we do not have the appropriate permissions to access the files. We are the only user account on this computer. We don't do seperate ones for each family member; we just turn on the PC.
It seems to me like the internet crawls on this computer. Every time we try to play a video (e.g. ABC, CNN, Youtube), it won't buffer. It just stops and starts all throughout the video about every 3 seconds. HUGE nuisance. We watch a lot of videos.
Minor issue: In Firefox, before it has crashed that is, on my old computer I used to be able to type "cnet" without the quotes into the address bar, and it would take me to www.cnet.com. If it couldn't find the page, it would take me to my default search engine's page (Yahoo) with the search results. On this one, if I type anything into the address bar (like search terms/keywords) it bring up search results with a My Start Incredimail search engine. I want my Yahoo search engine, and I want it to find the page if it can.
I cannot seem to get the Aero Flick (I think) to work. That was one of the main things I was looking forward to, but I can't figure out how to do it.
It seems to me like the Windows Explorer freezes a lot.
There have been multiple times when I'm typing that the keys don't work. Like I would have to press the A key about 10 times to get it to show up on the screen once. It's hit and miss and doesn't do it all of the time.
This isn't a problem - just a question. Is it best to leave the computer plugged in all of the time if it's stationary? Or once it's fully charged, should I unplug it and let the power run down, and then re-charge it?
**CLARIFICATION: It's not Outlook Express, it's Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. The one that you have to pay for. Surely it works with 7, considering it's Microsoft?!?!
If you can help me answer any of these problems/questions, I would really appreciate it.

Need your assistance on the issue that we are facing in prod environment.
We are able to open web console from remote machine and able to view monitoring pane as well as my workplace folders from console . Able to view and access alerts and other folder in the monitoring pane. We are able to view and access My Workplace folder
and able to view the reports in Favorite Reports folder. But when I click on run Report we are getting the below error "500 Internal Server Error - There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed."
In our environment we have 3 servers one is SQL server and two are SCOM servers. Please advise how to fix this issue. Do we have to do any thing from SQL End?
Errors: Event ID 21029: Performance data from the OpsMgr connector could not be collected since opening the shared data failed with error "5L".
Event ID 6002 : Performance data from the Health Service could not be collected since opening the shared data failed with error 5L (Access is denied.).

Problem with Adobe Reader and IE

I'm using Vista Home Premium and IE9 with the latest Reader available. Starting yesterday, I cannot read PDF files on the web. This is a new problem. I tried to download newer versions of IE and the Reader, but both tell me I've got the newest versions I can use.
I have no problem with Firefox. Just IE. I prefer using IE. Can someone guide me -- without using technical language. Many thanks!!

Thanks for your input. I opened the standalone Adobe Reader X, clicked Edit, Preferences, Security, Advanced Preferences. Then clicked each of the 3 tabs on top, but nothing looked like "Protected Mode."
Then I went back and clicked Security (Enhanced) and unchecked Enable Enhanced Security. Tested this change, but I still get the gray screen and messages: "A problem has caused IE to close." "A problem with this website has caused IE to close and re-open the tab." I then went back and re-checked Enable Enhanced Security.
I should mention that I have used this particular website for about 10 years and never had a problem. But I now have the same problem with any online PDF that I try to open using IE.
Can you think of anything else? If not, here's my plan of attack. Please let me know if you think it will work.
1) Copy over all my favorite sites from IE to Firefox. (I've already started doing that.)
2) Uninstall IE and re-install it.
3) If I still have a problem, uninstall Adobe Reader and re-install it.
Do you think this will do the job if all else fails?

Problem with Back button in Top Level Navigation

Hi all,
We are facing a minor problem with the Back button in the Top Level Navigation in Portal. This button is present under the Roles and Worksets menu along with the History, Forward, and Add to Portal Favorites links.
The problem is faced when we have some worksets under a single role. While browsing accross these worksets by randomly clicking on them, we wish to use the Back button as well to go back to the previous workset. But when we use the Back button, the Detailed Navigation panel in the last workset is not retrieved.
I will explain with the System Administration Role. I open the worksets under this role in the following manner:
First I open Transport;
Next I open Portal Display;
Next I open System Configuration;
Now I wish to go back to Portal Display workset by clicking on the Back button. But when I do this, although the Portal Display workset opens up, but I cannot see the Detailed Navigation Panel. See the screenshot below:

I am having problems with Safari

When I went to open one of my websites. I was redirected to a "private" website for the same company in which I could not sign on to my account. I use this website a couple times a month and this is the first time this has happened in the past 3 years.
I deleted the website and tried to re-enter it in my favorite sites but could not the + button was no longer in my toolbar.

Your profile shows that you have an oudated Mac OS X version insatlled: v10.8.2
Update your system software. Click Software Update from the Apple menu.
If you have problems with Software Udpate, install the OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.4 (Combo)
That will update Safari for you as well.
Then restart your Mac, launch Safari and try to access the website.

Problem with the audio editor window into logic pro X

Seemingly Impossible Problems with iTunes

I've never had any problems with iTunes until a few months ago, and I've been unable to use the program since. It all started when I upgraded to iTunes 10, and my computer randomly started to freeze every time I tried to open the program. I thought that I would try to uninstall and reinstall iTunes, but it definitely hasn't worked out the way I'd planned.
The iTunes 10 installations would cause my computer to freeze, so I thought I would try to go back to iTunes 9, which I had no problems with previously. I followed the uninstall instructions on the Apple Support website, started to install iTunes 9, and my computer freezes every time when "registering iTunes automation server". I can't even get the Task Manager to come up when this happens, so I'm forced to turn my computer off and start over. I tried this again, still no luck. I uninstalled everything, turned off my spyware programs, deleted my temp files... everything. I even deleted the program files today, and I still haven't had any luck.
I have a small fortune invested in iTunes, and I'd really like to get it back up and running before Christmas. I have some new CDs I'd love to put on my iPod, and one of my favorite bands is releasing a limited edition digital box set that you can only get on iTunes that I'd really like to have. I've read that Apple doesn't even know how to fix this problem, and I don't really want to spend $29 for a pointless phone call.
Any help would be highly appreciated, thank you in advance!

I've tried uninstalling all of the Apple programs on my computer, but the installation still freezes at the same spot.
