Problem with IE7
Hi guys,
after installing IE7 version, am not able to find the buttons in our web portal. Kindly suggest how to fix this problem
Thanks in advance.
hi...your r so elder member in the forum.....The word is 'old', not 'elder'.
these
are not stupid questions...Yes they are!
making this type of
conservation is very bad....No it is not. You are asking an off-topic question in a Java forum with little or no context information.
if u find
unrelated...Your question is 'unrelated' to Java.
just see and leave it....u r no where
related to me...Fairly obvious.
no need to suggest these....Yes there is! In a Java forum ask questions related to Java. In an HTML/CSS forum ask questions related to HTML/CSS.
>
this is a technically related forum...dont initiate
this conversations...I am trying very hard to make you understand that with the little information that you have given and the fact that this is a Java forum and not an HTML/CSS forum you are very very very unlikely to get a satisfactory response in this forum.
please.....you are so elder
member here....so there is a big respect from my
side...You would show respect if you accepted that this is a Java forum and not a HTML/CSS forum.

Another SPRY horizontal menu problem with IE7
I posted this before, with no responses, but I think
I've narrowed it down to a CSS response problem with IE7.0. If you
view the attached link in Firefox or Opera, the menu background
color responds correctly on the drop downs. In IE7, the
background-color is ignored, causing the menu to be translucent
and, uh, ugly. Has anyone else had an issue with the
background-color CSS attribute in the SPRY horizontal menu css not
working?
HELLLLLP! and, uh, Thanks,

Regrettably, the silence from the forum has been deafening.
I'm not sure if folks are just wary of SPRY and AJAX issues right

guess it´s all of that :-) But folks visiting these more

HP Smart Web Printing feature, problem with IE7 and FireFox3
"HP Smart Web Printing" problem with Internet Explorer 7 and FireFox 3I have a laptop that came with: Windows Vista Home Premium, Internet Explorer 7, FireFox 1.9. Everything worked fine.
Recently I bought a "HP Photosmart C4580 All-in-One" printer that came with a free software "HP Smart Web Printing".
Smart Web Printing worked fine with FireFox 1.9 browser. I liked it very much, because with it, I could print only the portions from the web page that I want, thus saving on inks. It really does more than that.
With IE 7, Smart Web Printing was a disaster. IE 7 stopped working. Every time I closed a web browser window, IE7 would stop working and start all over again. It happened all the time.
On suggestion from Microsoft Windows help desk I "Reset IE Setting". This solved the IE 7 problem , but it also removed the Smart Web Printing feature.
Next, one day I downloaded latest version of FireFox browser "FireFox 3". Once again I lost the Smart Web Printing Feature, because it was not compatible with FireFox 3.
Now here I am with no "Smart Web Printing" feature at all.
Any suggestion how can I get "Smart Web Printing" feature back. I love the feature
ThanksMarch 27th 2009 I've just downloaded HP Smart Web Print onto an HP a6500f desktop system running Vista-64. I first installed it as a limited user and I get no icon in the IE7 taskbar. I examined the manage add-ons dialog and it was installed but the toolbar configuration has no control icon for SWP icon.
Then I logged off and logged on as a privileged user and downloaded again and tried to install. This 2nd installation actually REMOVED my first installation.
So I then downloaded for a third time and installed and it finished installing but there was no SWP icon in the tool bar. I examined the Manage Add-Ons dialog and saw one in there on the left side. I transfered the inactive icon to the active side of the dialog and then I immediately had TWO SWP icons in the task bar. (*mumble grumble*). So I removed one and all is OK now as long as I use the IE7 as a privileged user.
If I go back to being a limited user (not an unreasonable thing to do is it?) I don't have an SWP icon. Trying to install SWP application again only cause it to want to remove the existing installation.
I'm not very impressed with this behavior.
Is there anything that can be done to get SWP to work for limited users? -
FW 8 popup-menu in CSS problem with IE7 & Safari
Hi,
hope that anyone out there got some ideas in my issue. I was
already searching the forum for advice, but couldn't find
meaningful infos.
Here is my problem:
I designed a page in FW8 (Mac) with a nice popup-menu. I
exported this thing into DW8 having set the option to export the
menu as CSS and slices to layers. Then I rearranged the html File
and included some editable regions, as it was to be used as an
template.
Everything works fine in Firefox but IE7 and Safari
experience some problems.
The popup-layers are displayed behind the main text-area and
not in front of it - this makes navigation a bit complicated.
So teh menu is displayed with text and everything, but behind
the main text.
What I tried:
I tried to reset the z-Index of the popup-layers to values
below 10 (were set to 500) - didn't help.
I gave every single item a z-index - didn't help.
I gave the main text area an z-index of 0 or -1 - made the
layer disappear.
I reexported the whole thing - made me just crazy.
I worked through the css file for errors - maybe I'm not to
good in CSS ;)
I checked the forums, but could only find issues where the
menu was not displayed at all or the text was missing - doesn't
apply.
-- no more ideas :(

I don't think this is accurate. Each browser supports things
differently,
and CSS is no exception, but support for javascript is fairly
reliable
across the board.

Then you are not looking in the right place. Go here -

Hello,
I'm facing a problem in my site. I have a table located
inside another table. My inner table contains text.
I'm using a css file to define the inner table properties. I
used 'position: absolute' to define the inner-table text top
position but got some problems with it in IE7 and firefox.
Once deleting the absolute position I'm not able to get my
text be align to the top on the cell, it keeps being painted in the
center of the cell.
How do I solve this issue?
The problem is in:

Thanks,

Problem with ie7 crashing with flash6.ocx and mootools?
I noticed that my site has a very poor conversion rate for users using ie7. It is about 1/2 the conversion rate of ie8 and ie9.
I setup a brand new fresh install of windows XP SP3, and installed ie7 to do some testing.
When I go to my site, 2-3 pages in ie crashes completely. I removed my reference to mootools (1.2.5) and I don't have the crashing issue.
I then added mootools back and disabled the Flash6.ocx addon that comes with ie7, and everything was fine.
My stats show a very small percentage of our users are using Flash 6, But the overall ie7 conversion rate is really low.
Any thoughts on what could be causing the problem with the Flash addon?
I was thinking it may have something do do with page unload, since it never happens on the first page load. If I refresh the page, it always crashes 1-2 loads later.Moved topic from FAQ to Flash Player Usage forum.

Spry.Utils.loadURL problem with IE7
Hello there. First of all sorry for my english.
I have a problem with Spry.Utils.loadURL function in Internet
Explorer 7 only. In firefox works fine.
So i have an asp file that returns a string with some stuff.
I load this asp file with Spry.Utils.loadURL like this.
function ReLoadExtras() {
var req = Spry.Utils.loadURL("GET",
"ControlExtras.asp?type=get&id=50", true, MySuccessCallback);
function MySuccessCallback(req) {
Spry.Utils.setInnerHTML('Extralist',
req.xhRequest.responseText);
In interner explorer works fine only at the first page load.
I have a button that fires the ReLoadExtras() function. But if i
hit it again to reload the div's content return nothing or returns
the same string. The string that ASP file returns is a value from
database but if i change this value on the database and hit the
button again i get the previus value. I think that something is
going wrong with the internet explorer's cache. I'm going crazy
because in firefox works without any problem.
Anynone who can help :-)Finally i fixed this problem. The problem was Internet
Explorer's cache. Every time that i call the asp file i have to
make the url unique. So i create a function that creates a unique
url.
function ReLoadExtras() {
var url =
"ControlExtras.asp?ControlExtras.asp?type=get&id=50";
var req = Spry.Utils.loadURL("GET", MakeUniqueQuery(url),
true, MySuccessCallback);
function MySuccessCallback(req) {
Spry.Utils.setInnerHTML('Extralist',
req.xhRequest.responseText);
function MakeUniqueQuery(x) {
var temp = Math.random() * 3;
var tempurl = x + "&sid=" + temp;
return tempurl;

Hi,
I'm trying to finish a job and when i have cross checked the browsers it appears that i have a problem in ie7 only, as it is fine in ie8, Firefox, Safari etc. My left navigation bar is out of place. I'm not sure what is causing it any help would be appreciated. villa-sonshine.co.uk

StuIf all else fails you might want to fix up the structure to something more 'solid'
Floating left and right and having the 'content' sitting inbetween in 'thin air' is a highly flimsy construction.
Personally, as its a fixed width design I would float both left and right nav 'left'. I would encase your main content in a <div> of its own and float that left also and set its width to 496px. That's calculated by taking the sum of your left and right nav <divs> (each 152px wide) away from the 'main_ container' <div> (800px wide) gives you 496px.
If you do that then change the order in your html so the 'rightnav' <div> comes after the 'content'.
Also you would need to add clear: both; to your 'footer' <div> css to force that below the two floated <divs>
I can't see why this design should not work pretty much exactly the same in all browser if you get the base structure set up correctly. Of course there is dozens of ways to reach the end-result however in my experience some are more likely to fail than others.
Containers floated in the same direction is always a more solid foundation than ones floated left and right together. -
Adobe Interactive forms & WebDynpro for java problem with IE7 and IE8
I have Interactive form ui-element in WebDynpro for java (ver. 7 SP 10) application. It works fine with IE6, but in IE7 (or IE8) it doesn't show that ui-element at all. We have tried to change IE7 security & advanced settings, but we have not made any progress. We have also tried to install/uninstall different Adobe reader versions etc.
I know a little more about the problem now. After viewing the XML source I change the property of the inputfield.
It was like this:
<field name="verdipers_felt" y="130.7001mm" x="180.1801mm" w="101.6004mm" h="44.4501mm" locale="no_NO" access="ReadOnly">
but i changed the access to be nonInteractive
<field name="verdipers_felt" y="130.7001mm" x="180.1801mm" w="101.6004mm" h="44.4501mm" locale="no_NO" access="nonInteractive">
now view2 shows the linebreak as in view1... Buut! when im going back to view1 from view2, the linebreaks gets converted into spaces
thats pretty wierd, aint it? -

ResourceBundle problem with IE7
Hi all,
I have problems getting the correct ResourceBundle from the Locale in my applet using IE7. It works with Firefox2 (and with IE6 as a user told me, I did not test this though). Can anyone help me with this? Below you see relevant code and the output in Firefox and IE7:
System.out.println("DisplayLanguage: "+currentLocale.getDisplayLanguage());
res_bundle = ResourceBundle.getBundle("myResources.ApplicationResources", currentLocale);
System.out.println("Locale in ResourceBundle: "+res_bundle.getLocale().toString());
System.out.println("DisplayLanguage in ResourceBundle: "+res_bundle.getLocale().getDisplayLanguage());
Output in Firefox 2:
DisplayLanguage: Italienisch
Locale in ResourceBundle: it //correct
DisplayLanguage in ResourceBundle: Italienisch
Output in InternetExplorer 7:
DisplayLanguage: it_it //different from the Firefox output
Locale in ResourceBundle: de //incorrect, this is the default Locale
DisplayLanguage in ResourceBundle: DeutschOk, this is apparently a JSP issue. The Language Code provided by request.getLocale() in the JSP is not the same for every browser:
in Firefox: de, it (this is what the Locale constructor needs: the ISO-639 language code)
in IE7, Safari: de_DE, it_IT
I don't know why this is the case, but now I can use a workaround (i.e. ignore the second part of the language code).
So, the problem is solved. However, I would be still interested in the reasons for these differences...
Thanks, Gonzberg -
First off, I am relatively new to this. I just started
redoing a website for a friend using DW8. I have done a couple of
sites the old fashioned HTML way and have little experience w/ CSS.
The site was built with a purchased template. I get everything
lined up correctly w/ FF but IE7 pushes the right side down below
the left. I have read several messages about this but still a
little confused.
Here is the page
http://c2logix.com/Solutions/Delivery_Collection_and_Distribution.html.
I don not know if it the CSS or the DOC TYPE or what is
causing this. Any ideas?There are a number of problems on that page, beginning with
the doctype -
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01
Transitional//EN">
It should be this to be both valid and complete (otherwise,
IE will render
in quirks mode, which is a decidedly bad thing) -
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01
Transitional//EN"
http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
Also, you have declared that the page is HTML4.01
Transitional, and yet
there is XHTML markup used on your tags. If you would save
the page in DW
by using FILE | Convert > HTML 4.01 Transitional, that
would be fixed.
Then let's take another look at it.

The link above is my test page I'm working on. My rollovers
are workin fine in IE6 and FireFox. It figures that with the new MS
browser stuff stops working.
The problem is that the rollovers seem very fussy. For
example: I have rollovers on Courses & RiderCoaches. If you go
to Couses the rollover show up, but when you move the mouse over to
select the rollover it disapears. Can anyone help.
I'm using CSS:

Flashhelp Access Problem with IE7 Beta
When I generate a Flashhelp helppage, I cannot view it,
whether in IE or Firefox or Opera. I always get a message that
Macromedia Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe
application. I go to the Flash Settings site, but i'm clueless what
is not set correctly.
The error message is that wf_master.swf is trying to
communicate with internet-enabled wf_master.htm.
I confess, I haven't used Flashhelp in many months, but it
used to work. The only thing that I can remember changing is
upgrading to IE7 Beta a week or so ago. I'm using Robohelp X5 with
Windows XP Pro SP2. Any ideas on how to get by this will be
appreciated. Other formats work fine. thanks,
davidHi david
For starters, it's not the browser, it's probably Flash
Player version 8. Secondly, unless you are deploying your FlashHelp
to each local users' PC, you should have no issues with your users
seeing this message and having to deal with it. It only happens
with locally installed files. If you are deploying to a server and
your users are accessing from there, you should be fine. Typically,
this is corrected by adding the main FlashHelp folder to the list
of "safe" folders on the Flash settings page. Drawing from memory
here, but there is a link on the left where you choose Global
settings. Then across the middle is an option button you need to
select. I believe there are three and it's the middle option. Then
you click the drop down and browse to the folder containing your
FlashHelp and click Add to add this folder to the white list.
Hopefully this helps... Rick -
Sun Java System Portal Server 7 Problems with IE7
Hello,
I have just finished deploying Sun Java System Portal Server 7 on a Sparc box when I try to log in on IE6 or IE7 nothing happens.
What could be the problem and how do I get the logs of what could be going wrong
Thanksis the problem only w/ IE6 and 7? or is that just all that you've tried? :) on a *nix platform, you can find the portal logs at:
/var/opt/SUNWportal/logs/...and
/var/opt/SUNWportal/portals/<portal-id>/logs/<instance-id>/...there is also the web container log, the location of which varies depending on the vendor. for example, for SJS app server 8.2, the logs are at:
/var/opt/SUNWappserver/domains/domain1/logs/hope this helps.
