Problem with Iomega mdhd500-n 31704000R

Hi,
I have a iomega mdhd500-n 31704000r
I have lost any information about it, tried a reset but now blue led is blinking slowly (2 sec on / off)
usb works fine but cannot detect it with ethernet cable
Where can I find the manual, firmware updates ?
thanks

Unfortunately, this is an end-of life device so it does not have any updates or info on it any longer. If you can access the data through USB you should back it up if you do not already have a backup.

  • Problems with iomega External Hard Drive on MacBook Air

    Hi community!
    I'm experiencing some problems with my MacBook Air and an external hard drive and I'm wondering if anybody would be able to help me out.
    I own a MacBook Air running Mac OS X 10.7.3. When I connect my iomega 500GB external hard drive, the Finder is able to pick it up, but when I click on the drive name, it spins forever without the Finder responding for a long time (it basically crashes the Finder with a spinning ball staying forever). The light on the external hard drive flashes intermittently when I first plug it in, but after that stays constantly lit. So I guess the disk has power, but something else is wrong with it.
    It was working fine earlier today but I accidentally pulled the cable out while the disk was working. I'm hoping this hasn't permanently damaged my drive.
    Any help on what I could do to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
    SV

    You might try launching Disk Utility, and then select the drive in question to run a "Verify disk" on the drive. This may indicate any errors in the file system of the drive that might be preventing the successful reading of the disk.
    If the disk is empty, you may want to re-partition and reformat, so as to start with a "clean slate".

  • Problem with iomega external HD

    I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to post this but I purchased an iomega external HD off the apple.com site to use during travel (I was assuming it could be used as a larger capacity flash drive of sorts, and intended to transfer some files from my G5 to my husband's G4 laptop to use). Well, long story short, when I connect the external HD to the laptop the icon shows up, however when I try to open my files on the external HD my husband's files open instead (eg, when I click on my address book on the external HD my husband's address book opens up). Files that WILL open up are ones I've created myself and aren't on his G4. I've never encountered this problem using small flash drives. If anyone out there knows what's up with this I'd appreciate the assistance. Thanks!

  • Iomega network drive no longer connects under iTunes 10.5 - lost access to all my songs. Anyone else having problems with iTunes 10.5 / IOS 5?

    I have an Iomega 500Gb network drive (Connects via CAT5 cable to hub) It contains all of the music in my iTunes. It worked fine until I upgraded iTunes to 10.5 (and installed IOS5 / iCloud). Now, I can no longer access ANY of the music. The drive shows as a device in iTunes, but when I click it, it displays the songs for a split second, but they then disappear and I connot access them. The Iomega drive functions normally when accessed via a Windows browser.
    Anyone else with this problem?
    regards Steve

    FYI: It seems it was a network problem with my WinXP PC. After complete deletion and new installation of XP and iTunes my iPhone will be recognized correctly, Wifi synchronization works (mostly) fine.

  • Problems with using Deskjet 3745 on 2-PC home network

    I have an old PC running Windows XP SP3 and a new one running Windows 7, but only one printer. The network connecting the PCs is on an ADSL router with to its own external Iomega network drive with a USB port.
    To make the printer usable on both PCs,
    I originally connected it to the Iomega USB port. But the port was effectively a 1-way connection only, so I could not  get a print-preview to see which form/profile the printer was using. So I junked that and...
     reverted to connecting the printer to one PC permanently and sharing it on the network. But the two PCs required different drivers which would not talk to each other, and the set-up simply would not work.
    Finally I went back to the straightforward method of plugging the printer into the USB port of whichever PC I needed to us it on. That worked fine for a while until the WIN 7
     print-preview started showing blank images (but printing correctly).
    print-spooling failed to cope with cancelled documents.
    I have had Deskjet Support's help in trying to sort this out, which including reinstalling the drivers on both PCs - several times! But I am still left with solution 3 giving problems with Win 7.
    Has anybody encountered a similar situation and found a satisfactory working solution?
    This question was solved.

    Try the following: connect the printer to the XP machine and set the XP machine to share this on the network.  On the Windows 7 machine go to the Devices and Printers folder, Add a Printer, Local Printer, Create a Port, Local Port, \\Computername\Printername (use the actual share name for the computer and printer), OK, then click on Windows Update and then select the HP (not Hewlett-Packard) Deskjet 3740 series (LiDiL).

  • Problem with external HDD after installing updates in Mac os X 10.5 leopard

    Hi,
    I just went out to the store and bought a copy of the leopard.
    I installed it with nothing attached to the computer. Everything went fine.
    When I went to update the software I had two packages there that I updates, so I had to restart the computer. when it started again it indicated that it had problems with my Iomega Ultramax 1tb disk. It says that disk repair failed and that I only have limited access to the disk. and since it's ALOT of data on the disk, I don¨t rally got the tools to copy everything to another location and then erase the disk and copy everything back. So does anyone know if there's a solution to this.
    I'd be really happy to get a solution on this,
    thanks alot.
    Rich

    When I'm using disk utility and use "verify disk" I get the following message:
    "First Aid failed
    Disk utility stopped verifying "UltraMax" because the following error was encountered.
    Filesystem verify or repair failed."

  • Problems with transmision torrent client

    Dear all,
    I have Iomega EZ-3 and on it running transmission torrent client.
    lenovoemc_Torrent 3.2.19250  Up to date
    The problem is the destination of downloaded torrents. It's not on desired destination. On selected folder 2 subfolders were created - "add torrents here" and "incomplete". And when torrent is downloaded, there is no file. In web gui double click on torrent gives some additions informations:
    Location: /mnt/pools/A/A0/Documents/Downloads
    Where is this location and how can I access it? I have a lot more problems with built-in torrent download client so this one problem should be easier to solve... I have latest firmware on Iomega EZ-3: 4.0.8.23976
    Kind regards,
    Ziga

    I'm not sure why the completed file would not end up in the destination folder. Have you searched the all the folders on the device to see if it ended up in another folder somehow? The built-in torrent client has some issues on some devices, which is why we added support for Transmission.
    Maybe try asking their support forums? - https://forum.transmissionbt.com/

  • Experience with Iomega 250GB Ext Drive & Lacie PCMCIA to Firewire 800?

    Hi!
    I bought an Iomega 250GB Ext. Hard Drive and I'm contemplating buying a Lacie PCMCIA to Firewire 800 PC card for my PowerBook G4 (the G4 is older and does not have built in Firewire 800 capability.) Has anyone had experience with this configuration? I'd like to know if there have been any problems trying to go with this configuration before I buy the Lacie card. If there are problems with this set-up then my best choice it appears would be to use the Firewire 400 port on the laptop and on the ext. drive. (There is also USB 1.1/2.0 capability.) Anyone with experience in this area please advise.
    Thank you!
    tenntooter

    Hi t,
    I haven't had experience with this setup, but ran across this test sometime ago. They tested the LaCie card you're looking at with a Ti 800MHz with no issues.
    (There is also USB 1.1/2.0 capability.)
    Take my word for it, you don't want to use USB1 (major slow) and to use USB2, you'd need to buy a PCMCIA card to USB2 adapter anyway. Even then, in real-world transfers, FW400 is faster than USB2, so if your FW port is working, there's no reason to go the USB2 route.

  • Problem with External Hard Drive

    Hi,
    I'm having trouble with my External Hard Drive, a 300GB Iomega USB. Everytime i use it with my iMac G4 it disconnects by itself and i get the "Device Removal" message after 20 minutes or so. This occurs even though the Mac hasn't moved, the Hard Drive and its wire wasn't moved and even when I'm not doing anything on my Mac. This occurrs in all three of the USB ports even though other devices plugged into them work fine.
    It's a problem with your External Hard Drive and/or its wire i hear you say. However, the External works fine when plugged into my Windows Laptop.
    Any help would be much apreciated as all my music, movies and work are on my External.
    Thanks in advance,
    K

    Hi there:
    You may have to use a Mac disk utility on the external USB hard disk drive, since the error
    you see is likely caused by some defect. And the symptom is in how the drive fails to mount.
    Perhaps a tool like Disk Utility could see what kind of errors, but not fix them; if this is the
    case, a more specific tool such as DiskWarrior (for the Mac OS your machine has) may help.
    Depending on the level this problem exists, the drive may be repairable through use of one
    of the disk utility type of tools; or it may need to be erased, reformatted, etc. So, if there is
    some kind of error in the directory or other portion, DiskWarrior could probably fix it and not
    interfere with the data on the drive... Or, that's the hoped-for outcome.
    And that direction is likely one to pursue. For the sake of discussion, you - do - have extra
    USB cords, just in case you have one that does not like Macs? A diabolical PC infiltrator?!
    Good luck & happy computing!

    You are still under warranty and/or have AppleCare.  Call them.  Let them deal w/it.

  • After system recovery on a Pavilion 513n with XP SP2 I cannot run CD's created with Iomega Hotburn.

    I have a 9 year old Pavilion 513n running Windows XP SP2.  I have two RAM sticks, one of 1GB (added) and one of 256MB (the original with the computer).  The hard drive is a Western Digital 80 GB.  The CD/DVD drive is the original with the computer.  I recently had to do a system recovery due to a corrupted Windows file using the HP System Recovery Disks and an SP2 disk from Microsoft.  Since then, the computer will not recognize nor read CD's created on an Iomega external CD burner using Iomega Hotburn software.  These CD's worked fine previously even after system recoveries.  Other CD's run fine.  I have done previous system recoveries in the last nine years, and have never encountered this problem before.  I am hoping someone else may have run into this and can help me.
    Thanks

    I think this problem is more of a hardware issue.  Have you tried using a linux live cd?
    If it boots fine into safe mode then it is an installation/driver issue.  Safe mode bypasses most driver problems.  I would suggest you try using virtual pc from microsoft it is free and try it withing windows it is very, very easy to use to set up a virtual machine.
    It COULD be a hard drive issue, if so i would try a low level seek format, and then install windows.  Low level formats are NOT windows formats. Try installinf say PCLinuxos 2007 and if that works there is a problem with your drivers.
    Ultimately it may well come down to hardware, just use other options to actually isolate if it is a hardware problem or not.

  • Overheating problems with 865PE Neo2-S ( 6728 )

    I have the same problem with my MB. When the CPU is idle it's temperature is 42 degrees C, but when it get's stressed up it growes up to 62 degrees C. THe heatsink is well in place, and has good contact with the CPU as well as the fan which is working correctly. Once the temp grew up to even 72 degrees but when I touched the heatsink it wasn't hot as I suspected. Also quite often a situation happens when the graphics in a game are starting to get " jumpy " which is followed by sound slowing and eventually the computer stalls, so I think that the overheating is real. I would really use some assistance.

    I dont think there is anything wrong with the CPU, CPU cooler or not even the casing fans.
    My system config is
    Pentium 4 2.8GHz C Processor
    MSI NEO2 865PE Mobo 512MB DDR333 Kingston (BIOS 1.1)
    450W PSU w/4 Fans cooler system
    ATI Hercules Radeon 9500 Pro
    Iomega 48-24-48x CDRW
    WD SATA 36GB HDD
    WinXP Home SP1
    SB Live
    Creative 4400 Inspire 4.1 Speaker
    When I boot up my PC, without running any application it is already 52 degree celsius.  After running General 5 it goes to 60+ ,  Dark Age of Camelot (Graphics intensive) it goes to 70 degree (Sometimes it just reboot while i am playing this game).  What is this?  My casing has 4 fans and my system temp is only 37 degree celsius.  How can my CPU temperature be so high when I didnt even overclock.  So what could be the cause of the problem.  Problematic Corecentre or MSI 865 PE NEO2 bug or whatever.  I really regret choosing this Mobo over Gigabyte PE1000.  FYI, my friend who fix the same system has the same problem as me.  So it is impossible that all of us didnt fixed our CPU cooler properly.

    You should be fine running stock cooling (if you dont overclock) ...your problem is more likely to be airflow in and out of the case -to prove this try running with the side pannel/Casing off
    If that works then you need to provide more airflow to the case not change your cpu cooler ...a bigger/more efficient CPU cooler will just increase you case temp unless you provide more airflow to the case

  • A problem with threads

    I am trying to implement some kind of a server listening for requests. The listener part of the app, is a daemon thread that listens for connections and instantiates a handling daemon thread once it gets some. However, my problem is that i must be able to kill the listening thread at the user's will (say via a sto button). I have done this via the Sun's proposed way, by testing a boolean flag in the loop, which is set to false when i wish to kill the thread. The problem with this thing is the following...
    Once the thread starts excecuting, it will test the flag, find it true and enter the loop. At some point it will LOCK on the server socket waiting for connection. Unless some client actually connects, it will keep on listening indefinatelly whithought ever bothering to check for the flag again (no matter how many times you set the damn thing to false).
    My question is this: Is there any real, non-theoretical, applied way to stop thread in java safely?
    Thank you in advance,
    Lefty

    This was one solution from the socket programming forum, have you tried this??
    public Thread MyThread extends Thread{
         boolean active = true;
         public void run(){
              ss.setSoTimeout(90);
              while (active){
                   try{
                        serverSocket = ss.accept();
                   catch (SocketTimeoutException ste){
                   // do nothing
         // interrupt thread
         public void deactivate(){
              active = false;
              // you gotta sleep for a time longer than the
              // accept() timeout to make sure that timeout is finished.
              try{
                   sleep(91);
              }catch (InterruptedException ie){
              interrupt();
    }

  • Problem with Threads and a static variable

    I have a problem with the code below. I am yet to make sure that I understand the problem. Correct me if I am wrong please.
    Code functionality:
    A timer calls SetState every second. It sets the state and sets boolean variable "changed" to true. Then notifies a main process thread to check if the state changed to send a message.
    The problem as far I understand is:
    Assume the timer Thread calls SetState twice before the main process Thread runs. As a result, "changed" is set to true twice. However, since the main process is blocked twice during the two calls to SetState, when it runs it would have the two SetState timer threads blocked on its synchronized body. It will pass the first one, send the message and set "changed" to false since it was true. Now, it will pass the second thread, but here is the problem, "changed" is already set to false. As a result, it won't send the message even though it is supposed to.
    Would you please let me know if my understanding is correct? If so, what would you propose to resolve the problem? Should I call wait some other or should I notify in a different way?
    Thanks,
    B.D.
    Code:
    private static volatile boolean bChanged = false;
    private static Thread objMainProcess;
       protected static void Init(){
            objMainProcess = new Thread() {
                public void run() {
                    while( objMainProcess == Thread.currentThread() ) {
                       GetState();
            objMainProcess.setDaemon( true );
            objMainProcess.start();
        public static void initStatusTimer(){
            if(objTimer == null)
                 objTimer = new javax.swing.Timer( 1000, new java.awt.event.ActionListener(){
                    public void actionPerformed( java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt){
                              SetState();
        private static void SetState(){
            if( objMainProcess == null ) return;
            synchronized( objMainProcess ) {
                bChanged = true;
                try{
                    objMainProcess.notify();
                }catch( IllegalMonitorStateException e ) {}
        private static boolean GetState() {
            if( objMainProcess == null ) return false;
            synchronized( objMainProcess ) {
                if( bChanged) {
                    SendMessage();
                    bChanged = false;
                    return true;
                try {
                    objMainProcess.wait();
                }catch( InterruptedException e ) {}
                return false;
        }

    Thanks DrClap for your reply. Everything you said is right. It is not easy to make them alternate since SetState() could be called from different places where the state could be anything else but a status message. Like a GREETING message for example. It is a handshaking message but not a status message.
    Again as you said, There is a reason I can't call sendMessage() inside setState().
    The only way I was able to do it is by having a counter of the number of notifies that have been called. Every time notify() is called a counter is incremented. Now instead of just checking if "changed" flag is true, I also check if notify counter is greater than zero. If both true, I send the message. If "changed" flag is false, I check again if the notify counter is greater than zero, I send the message. This way it works, but it is kind of a patch than a good design fix. I am yet to find a good solution.
    Thanks,
    B.D.

    Hi,
    Having a problem with multi thread programming using client server sockets. The program works find when starting the the application in a console using java muti.java , but when using javaw multi.java the program doesnt die and have to kill it in the task manager. The program doesnt display any of my gui error messages either when the server disconnect the client. all works find in a console. any advice on this as I havent been able to understand why this is happening? any comment would be appreciated.

    troy,
    Try and post a minimum code sample of your app which
    does not work.
    When using javaw, make sure you redirect the standard
    error and standard output streams to file.
