Problem with iPhoto recognizing iPhone when plugged in.
I have had my iPhone for a while and at first when i plugged it in iPhoto would pop up and give me the option to sync photos but now when I actually need it, it doesn't show up.
It should only open iPhoto if there are pictures or movies in the Camera Roll. But, you could have turned that off. Go to iPhoto > Preferences > General and be sure you have the setting you want for "Connecting Camera Opens [Options]".

thank youThat can be caused by many things - try to narrow down, what is happening:
Does your slideshow have a problem?
Do the media in your slideshow have a problem?
Does your Aperture library need fixing?
A problem with your user account?
Video codecs?
Aperture?
Your Mac OS X?
Your Hardware?
Check, if you can export slideshows at all from your Aperture library. Create a new, emty slideshow for experimenting and add one video, an audio clip and one or two photos. Try to export. Does that work?
If yes, duplicate your original slideshow and delete half of the photos from it. can you export now? Continue to find the video or image that does not work.
If no slideshow can be exported from your current library try to create a simple test slidesho in a different library. Does it work?
Post back with your results.

My girlfriend had this same issue. It ended up being her cable.
It was very weird and confussing as the first cable would allow the phone to show up on my laptop but not my girlfriends. So we thought the cable was fine.
Further the first cable would allow the iPhone to sync with itunes on her laptop but not show up in her "My Computer."
By chance we tried a different cable and it worked fine on her laptop and instantly showed up in her "My Computer."
All very weird but try a couple different cables and see if that fixes the problem first before resorting to other time consuming steps. -

Error 23, 28, 29: These errors may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow the steps in this article. Also attempt to restore while connected with the white USB Dock Connector cable that shipped with your device, on a known good computer and network to isolate this issue to the device. The MAC address being missing or the IMEI being the default value, (00 499901 064000 0), can also confirm a hardware issue. Out-of-date or incorrectly configured security software can also cause these errors.

Have an older 17 MacBook Pro, running OS 10.5.8. Software update says everyting is current. Mac doesn't have iCloud, preferences still shows MobileMe. Just bought new iPhone 5S. Mac won't recognize phone, says I need newer version of iTunes. Have no problem with computer recognizing old phone 3 or 1-1/2 year old iPad. I suspect I need to update OS, but as software update isn't telling me to do so, can I? What version would I need to go to?
Your MacBook Pro can be updated to run Mac OS X "Snow Leopard". Buy it. That will enable you to run the latest iTunes version.

simply try doing a back up and restore
when going thru the activation screen, select SET UP AS NEW and then test your device. if it is not shutting down then it could be 1 or more apps tht have been downloaded wch could be affecting the device
you will then need to follow the process of eleimnation, meaning add 2 apps and then monitor your phone, if nothing happes then add another couple of them and then check

What is the problem with IPhoto ´11 when I am uploading a photobook to apple store, there is always an error. Anyone ???
evrything is right wite my appleID.First try to create a pdf file of the book as described in this Apple document: iPhoto '11: Preview a book, card, or calendar before you order or print it.
If you are unsuccessful in creating the pdf file then boot into Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode and try again. If that works you can continue and order the book while in Safe Mode.
Be sure to keep the pdf file of the book to compare with the printed copy when it arrives.

I got my iPhone 4S and I think I have a problem with it. Sound when locking and unlocking is quiet compared with other iPhone 4S. I compared it with others and really is a little quiet. Other people have confirmed it too. Other sounds may be better. No problem tones, watching videos. This problem or is it something normal?
I have this problem too, but it is intermittent. Sometimes the lock/unlock volume will drop to barely-audible, even though in settings the volume slider hasn't changed. If I then move the volume slider, it fixes the problem and the lock sounds jump back to normal, but then later on the problem will happen again.

Sync problems with iPhoto (Last iTunes & iPhoto & iOS)
Some people have problems to with the music sync but anyone has the same problem but with the photos? iTunes doesn´t count the number of photos that suposse to be listed when you select your album on itunes/device/photos... I have once the problem with the music but it cames right after delete and resync my playlists.

Tested on iPhone 5 and iPad2 Mavericks iTunes 11.1.2 and iOS 7.0.3 Same problem with iPhoto 9.4.3 and 9.5."I have the same issue - iTunes 11.1.2, iOS 7.0.3, Mac OS X Mavericks, iMac 2011, iPhone 5S - Aperture 3.5 and iPhoto 9.5 - iTunes does not sync pictures (not even counts them) between my iPhone 5S and either one of the programs. When I select iPhoto, it even shows information of a library I am not opening with iPhoto anymore.
I have resorted for the time being, waiting for a bug fix, to copy what I am interested in, into a folder and sync from it - that at least works.
Moreover, contrary to what said here in other threads, I can Wi-fi sync my iPhone 5S and iPad 2 to iTunes 11.1.2.
And, about all the complaints of iTunes not showing the "Info" tab anymore, Mac OS X now supports natively more types of accounts (Gmail, Yahoo, Twitter, Facebook, AOL, etc.). Everything can still be also set up manually in any case - so I don't understand what everybody is bragging about - you can avoid using iCloud, if so one wishes. -
Problems with iPhoto 11.1.4 after update
iPhoto automatically upgraded to 11.1.4 on February 1st, since when I have not been able to access my iPhoto libraries. I had upgraded to "Mavericks" from 10.6 in November 2013 and then installed the compatible version of Microsoft Office and have been using both Office and iPhoto since then, so I conclude that (a) it is not an old problem and (b) it is not a "cross-contamination" problem.
On starting iPhoto, the message appears that I do not have permission to access the library or that the disk is locked. Since I created the library under my user-id, I find it difficult to believe that I do not have permission, and I have checked (4 or more times) that the disk is not locked.
A further message then told me that I needed to use the 'library updater', which I downloaded and ran. I am still unable to access the library.
I have not "sync'd" my iPad nor my iPhone since then, as I am concerned that this could endanger the photographs downloaded from my MacBook.
Does anyone know of a problem with iPhoto 11.1.4 and older libraries which have been progressively updated (from pre-2009 through "Snow Leopard")?The problem was not with the location - which had not changed - of the library but with the library itself.
I checked similar queries / issues and found an app "iPhoto Library Manager" which HAS solved the problem and, when I install the non-free version (which I have now purchased), it will help me remove the hundreds of duplicates & multiples which have infiltrated my library since about 2007!

Itunes does not recognize my iphone when plugged into computer it recognizes it as a still camera. I have installed the lastest version of itunes and gone through the troubleshooting tips and still have the same problems.Hold Sleep Button with Home Button toghether until it restarts Always it takes 8 to 15 seconds, after it restarts leave the sleep button and remember do not leave the home button it automaticlly switches to DFU mode.

I'm having problems with iPhoto and the facebook set-up. Every time I attempt to do so it says an error has occured and try again later. I have not seen a solution posted. Therefore, how does one contact Apple to solve the problem? I'm new to the world of iMac but I find it a bit frustrating trying to solve basic issues/problems:(
For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.
