Problem with iWeb domain titles

Greetings, I'm hoping someone can help me. I recently replaced my old website with one that I created in iweb. However, as you can see from the screenshot, every page has a redundant and rather unnecessary title tab for the website address. I upload to my host via FTP, and I'm wondering if that has something to do with it. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That is perfectly normal in iWeb and if you want it to change, don't name your site with your domain name within iWeb.
iWeb produces a sitename and you cannot leave this blank so when you publish to a local folder you get your site folder with the same name and the index.html file.
All you need do is to re-name your site in iWeb and then publish to a local folder and just upload that new site folder with the new name. Remember also that iWeb produces two index files, one that sits inside the site folder itself and then the other one that just points in towards the first page of the site and must sit outside the site folder.
This is totally normal in iWeb and is nothing that you have done - just change your site name to something different and more applicable to your site and then you won't get the double domain name.

• Problems with iWeb, after installing Lion

Hi,
Ever since I installed Lion, I have been having problems with iWeb. Any changes I make in iWeb, and then publish to my site, via mobileme, are not saved, and the site reverts to the orignial site, after closing the website, and iWeb also loses the cahnges. I am unable to sue the Publish Site button, and the option for Publish Site changes is not available.
I am using iLife 11.
These problems have only occurred since I installed Lion.
Any help greatly appreciated.

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For opening your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
tell application "iWeb" to activate
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder. So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

• Problem with iWeb 09, after the publication in a local file.

*Subject: problem with iWeb 09, after the publication in a local file, i can't see my blog, nor my photos, but before that all was working fine.*
After the publication in the local file, I see all my pages, but there is a mistake on the page "Blog" where I just can see the top of my page, it's cut and I can't see it entirely, so I can't see the inputs while I should see 3 news or 3 inputs. And it's the same for the "Photos" page where the page is cut, I can't see the photos, and it's just written : "Put the slide show and subscribe".To finish, when I want to activate the comments, it doesn't work neither.
Please help me.

I want to activate the comments, it doesn't work neither.
The comments feature is only available when you publish to the MobileMe server, so I don't think you can use it when you publish to a local file.

• Problem with iWeb publishing to IE

Hello, I am experiencing a problem with iWeb '08 publishing content to Internet Explorer. The images and web pages look fine in Safari and in Firefox, but a lot of the web page images are mirrored in IE, covering up large parts of the text. Please don't tell me I have to spend $79.00 on upgrading to iLife '09. I just upgraded my iWorks to '09, but would upgrading to '09 in this instance even be the answer? Please advise. I fear that I will alienating any of my IE web surfers. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello and welcome to the board.
IE is a terrible browser to render pages made with IWeb (I'm not sure upgrading to ILife 09 will fix your problem).
I decided to somewhat "alienate" my IE visitor by putting a message on my home page that recommend them to use a compatible browser. Check my page (using IE here: http://www.wesdotphotography.com/Home.html) and look at the message. Also if you use any other browser you will not see my message and will experience a better browsing. It is not the fault of IWeb but more like Microsoft not writing a proper browser. a lot of people will confirm my say.
Search this forum and you will see a lot of complaints about IE.
Good luck
Thierry

I experience this also with other placeholders not only title ones, BUT... I found a partial issue.
When I am typing the wanting caracter such as "ü" in the search filed, and then Copy/Paste in my Title Placeholder it works.

Cannot help you, just hope someone of the staff pops in. It seems a bit strange however that this issue is only with the Title placeholders... the Spanish users had similar issues all the time. Did you try to change the font?

• Premiere Elements 13 , Problems with new text/titles

Premiere Elements 13, bisher keine Probleme. Nachdem die Filmlänge etwa 15 Minuten beträgt immer größere Probleme Titel/texte einzugeben. Wartezeiten sind extrem lange oder Programm stürzt ganz ab.

High ATR,
Computer running on Widows 7 ,64 Bit System, Service Pack 1, Processor AMD Phenom(tm) X4 945 3.00 Ghz;RAM 8 GB
Grafikkarte: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
If the video on the timeline is longer than 10 minutes the problem will be remarkable. The response times adding a title is getting longer(2-15 seconds).
As the video is now 18 minutes the response time is after each action(resizing of letters or any changes of the text) up to 30 seconds or the program crashes completely.
Project settings are the following:

Video: maximale Bittiefe, Dateiformat i-frame only mpeg, Kompressor MPRG i-Frame, Standbilder optimieren
The video is a mixture of full HD videos 1920x 1080 .mov and pictures up to 4608x3456 pixels.
When the program crashes I remarked that the main memory RAM(8Gb) was fully used by the premiere program. Might there be a problem?

• Problem with iWeb 1.1 photos solved... for me, at least

After updating, some of my photo pages were broken. Slideshow wouldn't work and clicking on a photo would not open a larger version. Some pages, however, did work. After hours of trying to figure this all out, I finally narrowed the problem down. If the page had an apostrophe in the title, it was broken (e.g.:Tyler's Party). If it did not, it worked. These titles worked in the earlier version. Simply deleting one punctuation mark magically made the pages work again. If you are having this problem check this or other punctuation in the titles.

I had the exact same problem and as others have suggested, the apostrophe in the page name could be the culprit of the problem. For me, that was the problem. I had a page named "Dog's day at the beach" and that worked just fine in iWeb 1.0.1. Now with iWeb 1.1, I had to rename is "Dog day at the beach" which luckily has a similar meaning given the context of my photos and when I took it.
A bit bizarre how such a simple apostrophe could escape Apple's iWeb engineers.
I hope this will be fixed in a soon-to-come update.

• 2 Problems with iWeb site

I have been having 2 problems with my iWeb published site on MobileMe.
1. The Podcast search field does not display correctly - it appears as "two lines", not 1 (ie. the search icon i where it is supposed to be, but the search field is directly below that, not to the side) in Firefox (Mac & PC) and Internet Explorer. Is anyone else experiencing this problem, and if so, how can it be fixed?
2. I work with video Podcasts, which can result in very large video files (upwards of 200MB each). In Firefox (Mac & PC) and Internet Explorer, the entire video has to load before any other part of the page (description, date, titles, etc.) loads. This usually takes about 15 to 20 minutes, which is way to long. Any advice on how to make the page load before the videos?

Yes, a lot of functions are similar. Have been since 1984 with the introduction of Word processing and DTP applications. I consider myself lucky I was around at that time. Now I can apply most of the functions in current day applications.

• Upgrade Problems with 08 - Domain.sites missing

I updates to 08 last night and have observed the following which I think may be problematic:
in Amy/Library/applicationsupport/iweb the file for iweb is still called domain.sites NOT domain.sites2 as is usual with Iweb08
on my hardrive/libary/applicationsupport there is NO FOLDER for Iweb - it is missing
When I launch Iweb from the dock it asks me each time to choose a domain instead of launching automatically? Is this normal?
I cannot import photos into Iweb from my iphoto library..that choice is greyed out...
Help!!

iWeb should ask you if you want to update the Domain file to version 2 when opening it (by selecting it when you are asked to choose or by double-clicking it (or selecting and hit ctrl open with/iWeb)). Then it gets .sites2.
on my hardrive/libary/applicationsupport there is NO FOLDER for Iweb - it is missing
That's normal, the iWeb folder containing the Domain file is only found in the users library which is different from the harddrive library (every user has its own user library, but harddrive library is the same for all the users)
When I launch Iweb from the dock it asks me each time to choose a domain instead of launching automatically? Is this normal?
Actually no, when you launched a Domain file, quit iWeb and reopen it it should open the Domain file you last edited. (unless you moved it in the meanwhile that could be the problem maybe)
I cannot import photos into Iweb from my iphoto library..that choice is greyed out...
No clue sorry

• Problems with iWeb and mobile me

Ciao everyone,
I've been having a ridiculous amount of problems with my mobile me account and my iweb. 2 weeks ago I was fine with my iweb and mobile me but all of a sudden my iweb would say it publish but it really doesn't publish. The I went to the mac store a couple of times and thought I would get answers but I didnt get any answer even though I had a couple of one to one visits with a couple of stores in NYC. So when i publish it it shows that it published in my www.me.com/idisk/iweb folder but then it doesn't show in my website. Then one guy told me that I should just recreate a new site but copy and past all the old information to the new one. Now it won't publish at all because I guess its a lot of information to publish at once. I get an error message saying error iweb was not able to publish please try again later. Any help?

Hey you guys,
Thanks for the help, but I did try to publish all to my iweb and it didn't work. I do try to view my published website through the file/visit published site and for some reason only my intro page is there then when i go into the main page i get an error page. I also did go to my finder/Go/idisk/myidisk/iweb/site/iweb and saw my websites folder. Everything seems to be in it. I tried to take a screen shot of what is in my folder but I can't post pictures. In my folder I have a folder for gallery, index.html, site, shites.rss, and my website folder usvisualswebsite
Any other suggestions? This is really frustrating. I also created another test site with nothing in it and published it and it says it finishes publishing but the blank test page isn't there.

• Problem with NFSv4 Domain name

Hi,
I am creating zones for the first time.
I am having problem with the NFSv4 domain name prompt.
I followed the instructions described in
http://opensolaris.org/os/community/zones/faq/#cfg_sysidcfg
After the installation of the zone, on zonepath/root/etc, I created a sysidcfg file and did
touch *.*NFS4inst_state.domain
Booted the zone and logged in to the zone console.
The sysidcfg worked as expected but the NFSv4 prompt didn't go away:
─ NFSv4 Domain Name ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
NFS version 4 uses a domain name that is automatically derived from the
system's naming services. The derived domain name is sufficient for most
configurations. In a few cases, mounts that cross domain boundaries might
cause files to appear to be owned by "nobody" due to the lack of a common
domain name.

• Problem with Custom Domain

I made my website and upload it to the .mac service with IWeb 08, then I set up a custom domain.
I followed instructions and just created a Cname or Alias in Godaddy pointing web.mac.com.
Now everything is working with the exception that I lost emails, meaning now the emails goes to .mac also, however I never changed the MX Records, and email account should be hosted at Godaddy, Godaddy told me that .mac has to repoint the MX to their servers.... Any advice on this?

You can get a free DNS report at www.dnsreport.com which will display and text your MX configuration. You can also use a free tool at www.network-tools.com/nslook/ to manually retrieve various DNS records.
I would guess that somehow the MX records were also changed as part of the CNAME record change that was made. You should be able to login to their control panel to change the MX records back; assuming that you know what they were originally.
