Problem with keyboard and mouse pm8m-v

I have gotten this pm8m-v from a freind who knew nothing about computers. He had problems with the keyboard and mouse not responding at start up or just freeze on him. So I check it out, called MSI and even sent it to them, they claimed that there was nothing wrong with the board. So here are the specs of the computer now:
pm8m-v motherboard
2-256MB memory PC-2700 DDR 333Mhz
intel P4 2.6GHz
codegen power supply 300W
gateway CDW
western digital 40 harddrive
the rest is on board stuff
the problem is still there and it is driving me crazy, can you please help?

I had the same problem with the PM8M-V, today as a matter of fact, and I kept getting locked up at the point where I had to hit enter to load the WinXP CD to setup the system.  After finding this topic I tried a different keyboard. The one that was being used was a Kennsiington PS2 cheapo, I swapped it for a Microsoft (one of those ergonomic styles and I've had it for a long time) Keyboard PS2, and the problem went away.  I'm typing on the Kennsington right now, so it's fine just wasn't liked by the PM8M-V for some reason.

  • 870A Fuzion Power has problem with keyboard and mouse movement only in games.

    Hey guys,
    recently built a new system and chose to go with the 870A Fuzion Power mainboard, everything has gone very smoothly execpt for one problem, only when I play games like Crysis 2 ect the mouse seems to jolt around now and again and the keyboard decides to stop responding if I hold down the movement keys, and this is only in game not surfing the web for example. Now, I am using a wireless mouse and keyboard but I plugged in a PS/2 keyboard and the exact same thing happened. I've installed all of the drivers that came with this board and the drivers for the mouse and keyboard. Any of you guys ever had this sort of problem or know how to fix this?
    Thanks.

    I bought a new Macbook pro in june 2010, I didn't have any keyboard or mouse issues prior to upgrading to 10.6.4 supposedly this update was made to fix some issues with keyboard and mouse becoming unresponsive. For me the opposite happened. after the upgrade, my keyboard and mouse (trackpad) becomes sometimes partially unresponsive or totally unresponsive. the only way to solve the problem is by completely turning of the computer and turning back on.. granted it doesn't happen very often.. generally once every about 2-3 weeks but it is still annoying though..
    I didn't have a chance to use the computer too much on the previous version (10.6.3) so I don't know if it is software related or hardware related.. any thoughts?

  • Strange problem with RDP and mouse, only solved after minimize/maximize

    Good day,
    We have this very annoying problem with a RDP Terminal Server. It is Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.
    This server has the Session Host role installed, with local RDP user licenses.
    We only have this issue when running a certain application.
    This application is called Rockwell FactoryTalk View and this in an application to display industrial processes.
    It will take the Full Screen in a fixed resolution and will display buttons, objects, values... The application also uses Internet Explorer cache so I think it uses ActiveX, Flash or Java, I don't know.
    What sometimes happens is this:
    - The mouse point is able to move in the entire screen (good)
    - The mouse button will only work in 1 certain area of the screen (which is a small rectangle)
    - The mouse "hovering" above objects will also only highlight items that are in this rectangle
    - The keyboard remains functional and with alt-tab other objects or other applications can get focus, but still no mouse clicking
    The problem can be solved by:
    - Minimizing the RDP window and maximizing it again
    - Or: Sending a message to the session using task manager, after clicking "OK" on that message the problem is gone
    Normally, about 5 users will have this application opened in their session, the "crash" is only effecting 1 session.
    The problem seems to happen randomly and we don't know if we should point to the FactoryTalk application, or to Terminal Services/RDP. The end users have no rights to minimize/maximize, this is not the solution.
    Is it possible to have any input on this please?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
    Firstly please check with the application support team whether the application is fully supported by Windows Server 2008 R2 in remote session. In addition, suggest you to update the client RDP version to RDP 8.1 and check the result for better feature and functionality.
    Apart from this, there is Hotfix for the issue. Please download, install and check the result.
    Cause:
    The issue occurs because the remote desktop ActiveX object does not deactivate the focus of the remote desktop session when the focus is lost. Because the focus is still activated, the remote desktop ActiveX object cannot set the focus of the remote desktop
    session again when you change the focus back to the session.
    A remote desktop session does not respond to keyboard input or mouse input after it loses the focus in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2

    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • Problem with  "Keybord and Mouse" on Preference Pane

    I can't open "Keybord and Mouse" on Preference Pane.
    When I click on it, it doesn't open, just keeps loading until I click any other option except "Keybord and Mouse". Otherwise it opens an empty preference pane window, displaying nothing but the gray background.
    I can't access any keybord or mouse configuration. How do I fix it?

    Hi, did anyone fix this problem yet?
    My problem is that i copied the 10.5.2 HD from my old Macbook to my new MBP (with the new multitouch trackpad) to save time and to avoid a new install. Everything works except the mouse and keyboad preference pane. It seems that the demos for the swipe etc are non existent, and therefore the UI does not seem to work. This seems to make sense, as the Macbook did not have the options for multitouch. Does anyone know how to fix this? Is there any way I can reinstall the missing components to avoid a fresh install?
    Thanks alot for help. You can save my time
    Cheers, André

  • Problem with TC and Mouse

    Whenever I am using Time Machine to backup to my Time Capsule my external mouse becomes unreliable, this happens with both my logitech USB mouse and my bluetooth magic mouse. This did not happen when I was using an external drive connected to firewire for my backups. Additionally the trackpad on the laptop works fine.
    Any ideas?

    My problem is almost the same:
    Using Time Capsule (MC343) with USB connected wireless mouse on Snow Leopard, MB-Pro - when Time Machine starts to write backup mouse cursor jumps around the screen, like movement reading is delayed by something.
    When I use my external hard-drive connected via USB for backups this problem doesn't occur.

    My Android version is 4.0.4.
    Thanks.

    I’ll start with this question, what format is the external storage you are connecting to?

  • Problem with JScrollPane and Mouse Event in JDK 1.4

    The folowing code works fine with JDK 1.3. But not with JDK 1.4. It has got a JPanel(main panel) which hosts JScrollPane which hosts another JPanel (drawing Panel). If I remove(do not add) JScrollPane to the main Panel and ad drawing panel directly to the main panel, it works.

  • Problem with keyboard and IsReadOnly on a TextBox

    The problem is that the Keyboard doesn't show up when focus on a TexBox following this steps:
    1- On Page_Loaded set the TextBox property IsReadOnly = true (so you can't write/edit)
    2- Try focus on the TextBox (important)
    3- Tap a button that contains theTextBox.IsReadOnly = false;
    4- Tap TextBox. Keyboard won't appear
    This is on a Windows Phone 8.1 Runtime app
    In fact it won't appear on any other control that previous had IsReadOnly = true, not only this TextBox

    Hi SuNcO,
    If I follow your step1->step2->step3->step4, then I can reproduce your issue in my side, if I follow your step1->step3->step4, then it works very well with the Keyboard.
    I will do the further test and consult to see if there is any workaround.
    Thanks for your understanding.

    Hey there,
    I'm having this issue as well - although the steps are a little different.
    I have a TextBox that's set to IsReadOnly = true in my XAML with a doubletap event wired to it.
    I double tap the TextBox, the event fires and the IsReadOnly property gets set to true.  However, I can't enter any text into the text box and the keyboard doesn't appear.

    I decided to keep the old drivers and just ignore the error. I read a dozen mail list entries etc before reverting back, and it seems laptop keyboards are often quite tricky to get working correctly. Also using a non english layout will cause some extra effort.. My suggestion is to uninstall evdev and stick to the old drivers until there's a real reason to switch to evdev.
    Well, after follow the post you gave.
    I think that evdev now is really sucks!
    I agree with you, as long as my whole computer works, I donot care such errors.

  • Problem with TrayIcon and mouse events

    Hi,
    I am trying to listen for a mouseEntered event on a TrayIcon.
    This is the code i am using:
    final TrayIcon icon = new TrayIcon(getImage(), "tray icon");
    final SystemTray tray = SystemTray.getSystemTray();
    try {
       tray.add(icon);
    }catch (AWTException e) {System.out.println("TrayIcon could not be added.");return;}
    icon.addMouseListener(new MouseAdapter() {
    @Override
    public void mouseEntered(MouseEvent e){
       System.out.println("works");
    }});The icon is correctly shown in the tray bar, but the mouse entered event is not working.
    I have to say that i am using the exactly same code to achieve the same effect on a JButton and it works without any problem.
    Is there anything wrong?
    Thanks,
    Nite

    is there a way to request my thread to be moved into Swing section? Well, the idea is to post the question in the proper forum in the first place.
    yes, but i didnt find anything related to my problem.Really, I found posted examples of using a MouseListener.
    Does your code work for other events or is the problem only related to mouseEntered() events (which may not be supported, I don't know since I don't have the proper API to use TrayIcons)?
    If you need further help then you need to create a [Short, Self Contained, Compilable and Executable, Example Program (SSCCE)|http://homepage1.nifty.com/algafield/sscce.html], that demonstrates the incorrect behaviour.
    Then maybe others can test your code or see something else wrong.

    my kids computer began acting up this spring...so I shut it down.
    Would not stay turned off, various noises almost continually, jumping highlights, etc.
    Decided to reinstall os x snow leopard.  insert disc and icon appears.  then 3 icons with x in a column.
    automatically highlights middle icon and will not allow me to select one above.  Says install xcode.
    not what i want to do.
    any help?

    What model iMac do you have?
    What version of Mac OS is it running? If you don't know, try to give approximations on when it was set up and whether it was ever updated so we can take our best guess.
    How are you trying to boot from the install disc? Your description of 3 icons with x in a column' leads me to believe that you aren't booting from the install disc, but rather you are inserting the disc after booting from the OS that is installed on the hard drive. If that is what is happening you'll see something like this, although it will vary depending on the actual version of the Install Disc that you have and how you've chosen to view the files (icon, list, column, etc).
    What happens if you restart the system with the Install Disc inserted, then quickly hold down the 'c' key so that the system attempts to boot from the Install Disc. Do you still experience the same issue?

    No matter what I tried, including all kinds of tips and tricks found in this forum and elsewhere on the web, I could not get my Apple aluminum bluetooth keyboard and bluetooth Mighty Mouse to pair in Windows 7. Windows 7's bluetooth setup panel would see them, from time to time, but never connected.
    The same pair connected quite easily with Snow Leopard, and the keyboard connected before I installed BC 3.1 in Win 7 (never did get the MM to connect in Win 7 with BC 3.0). But with BC 3.1 in Win 7, it was no dice for either one until I made an accidental discovery.
    While prepping another Apple bluetooth aluminum keyboard for my wife's Mac Mini, it was seen by my iMac's Win 7, which wanted to pair with it.
    Aha! A Big Clue! The Win 7 BC 3.1 generic bluetooth drivers wanted to pair with an aluminum keyboard that wasn't already paired with the iMac. So, I booted back into Snow Leopard, connected a USB mouse and keyboard, renamed the bluetooth mouse and keyboard, and then deleted them. I rebooted back into Win 7, then easily set up both renamed mouse and keyboard which paired quickly with Windows.
    Note that I first tried deleting them from the Snow Leopard side first, but Win 7 still wouldn't pair with them. That's when I went back to Snow Leopard and renamed them but didn't pair them with the iMac until it was booted into Win 7.
    Finally, I rebooted back into Snow Leopard and paired the keyboard and mouse with OS X. Done.
    Hope this trick/tip/hint helps someone else with keyboard and mouse bluetooth pairing problems.

    You're welcome. My discovery was quite accidental, but that's often how things happen ... if you're paying attention and are looking for clues.
    Sorry you had to trial and error before you succeeded, but as you've probably found, it is necessary to rename the bluetooth devices first, then delete them from OS X.
    I don't understand why this trick was necessary, or even what caused it to happen. I've got 6 Win 7 installations via Boot Camp on 6 Intel Macs (2 white MacBooks, 1 Unibody MacBook, a Core Duo Mac Mini, a 27" iMac and the 20" 2.4 Mid-2007 iMac). All were running 10.6.2 and Win 7 (aren't Family Packs wonderful?) via Boot Camp 3.0 more or less without problems, except as noted in my first post.
    Only the 20" iMac had problems after the Boot Camp 3.1. Not only did I have a devil of a time pairing the keyboard and mouse, but I also lost the Win 7 activation on the iMac 20" and the OS X partition started showing up as "EFI Boot". All happened right after I updated Boot Camp 3.0 to 3.1 via download from Apple while running Win 7.
    I've heard reports of other Mac users discovering Boot Camp had done a FUBAR job on their machines, but this is my first experience. My guess is that there's some dialogue going on between 10.6, Win 7 and Boot Camp that shouldn't be happening. What I really don't understand is why my other 5 Macs didn't have any problems at all with the Boot Camp upgrade to 3.1. Let's hope the Apple Boot Camp team can reverse engineer my discovery and improve the next version of BC.

  • Keyboard and Mouse pad don't work.

    Can anyone help me? I figured I should come here before bringing it to a shop.
    I have upgarded my ram from 2gigs to 4gigs with Crucial ram.
    Though regardless if I have the new ram or old ram in, my keyboard and mouse pad don't work. There were occasions before when the keyboard would lock up for a short while, but I have no idea what's causing this.
    My only thought would be that sometimes my computer would get unusually hot, but i just turn it off when that happens.
    Everything else works fine, the USB ports work with keyboards and mouse's, the power chord works fine, there seems nothing wrong with the battery or display.
    Thanks you for any help.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    Has your keyboard and mouse quit working altogether or just when the computer is hot? And do I understand that an external keyboard and mouse will work with no problems?
    And I am wondering about your computer running unusually hot. Are your fans operating properly? You might want to run the extended version of the Apple Hardware test to be sure that the fans and thermal sensors are working properly. If they are not, you will get one or more error codes.
    Another thing to do to check when your Mac is unusually hot is the Activity Monitor. Select "All Processes" at the top right and check for any process running that should not be which is using lots of CPU.
    I don't know if the keyboard problem is related to the heat problem or not, but I would want to know what is causing the heat problem too. Over time, excessive heat can cause damage to the logic board. It could also conceivably damage the ribbon cable which connects the keyboard and I would guess that the trackpad could also be affected. So it is important to see what is going on here. If you have been experiencing excessive heat on a regular basis, this might be the underlying cause of your keyboard and trackpad problems. If so, the heat problem will have to be fixed or the other problem will recur over time.
    Try the AHT and post back with any results. Also, use iStatPro to check on your fans and make sure both are running at roughly equal speeds and that they run faster when the computer gets hot.
    Good luck!
