Problem with Keynote

Hello, anyone knows about a problem in Keynote(iWork) that whenever I write with a RTL language, and make "Build" in Inspector, it doesn't not show the whole word or sentence, and sometimes it doesn't show the entire sentence.
Is this problem solvable?
Thank you,
Balig

All iwork apps have major bugs with RTL scripts and are normally not suitable for using them, unless copy/paste from another app like TextEdit works well enough to meet your needs.    Sometimes different Effects may give better results than others.
In any case, such problems are not related to your hardware and you should ask in a software forum like
https://discussions.apple.com/community/iwork/keynote

Have you moved Pages from its installed location? Or just dragged a copy to your current system?
It can't find some of its resources apparently.

  • Image problems with keynote   dropbox

We are having massive problems with images not appearing correctly in our Keynote when saved via dropbox. Images appear swaped with other images, or at times, completely missing all together. This has completely crippled the work flow at our business and we are at all but a loss other on how we can continue to properly work in Keynote 6. What can be done to remedy this problem?

This is a MASSIVE problem. Keynote autosaves every single small change. With multiple team members on multiple locations it's virtually impossible to know if someone even does 1 tiny change in the presentation, while someone else is doing the same. The autosave makes this almost a certainty to happen.
We had to do multiple reworks this weekend, because of this. It makes working with dropbox and Keynote virtually impossible. I asked around and all Agencies I know, having the same issue.
One change on two locations, even by accident means:
    - Broken images
    - Broken videos
    - Mixed images turning on different locaties
    - Mixed videos turning on different locaties
    - Keynote versioning broke.
    - No dropbox versioning because of the new file format,
Only thing that can save you is a local backup.....OMG!!
It feels like a viral outbreak, and nobody is realising it yet....

  • Severe problems with Keynote

    Hi there,
I've got some trouble with keynote (on Ipad)
What happens: My wife and myself often receive Powerpoint "presentations" from friends or relatives though e-mail, some of them from China.
These presentations are usually displayed as slideshows, with sophisticated transitions, and of course music.
It's no problem on a computer. However with Ipad and Keynote, we can't:
    1. listen to voice/music (no sound at all)
    2. Impossible to display the slideshow automatically (pages can only be changed manually...)
Luckily, Chinese characters are displayed correctly
I can't find under Keynote's GUI the appropriate tools to solve these issues..
I'm afraid, I think I could do with a bit of help !
Many thanks in advance for your help
    FilouZorro

Hi there, and welcome to Apple discussions,
I must make sure you are actually viewing the presentation in keynote. In mail, make sure you have tapped "open in keynote", as you can view presentations in mail, just with limited functionality.
Keynote for iPad does play sound, just it does not very well. When you press play, and move through the slides, wait about 30 seconds for sound, as playback may be delayed.
To automatically move through slides, you must set times on your iPad. Try, on one of your slides (but not the first) tapping the icon which has 2 squares, one more faded than the other (3rd from the right, top right). The tap the slide you want to move on automatically, tap the blue arrow, and play with the options!
Hope this helps! Let me know how you get on.
P.S. If you are using chinese characters, have you tried adding a Chinese keyboard. [Click here to find out how|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4509]

  • Is anyone having problems with keynote after upgrading to Lion?

After upgrading my system to Lion, my keynote presentations are becoming a nightmare. They crash all the time, and are becoming significantly slower, not just due to the autosave but after making just a few movements the beach ball appears and takes forever for me to be able to edit the document again. When I try to put into presentation mode the computer stops, sometimes I even lost the images inside the saved prasentation, and when I tried to recover from the auto saved versions, they were corrupted also. I talked to the apple support here in Brazil and after running all kinds procedures to check and fix the disk and hardware even in the safe mode, it still remained with the same problem. Another suggestion was to reinstall the keynote, and I even bought a new version from the app store even though the old one was updated. Again, nothing changed. Does anyone have the same problem or knows what to do?

Hi Thomas - listen, I want to tell you that we aren't necessarily all in the same boat...what I mean is that this problem almost ruined my business and I spent a long time reading the dozen or so threads in this board, and tried solutions people suggested in each one. I had two separate problems...the first was like yours, and it was indeed solved by the time machine save setting mentioned above. The other was that I couldn't get an object selected with a click of the mouse every tenth time or so...I had to click onto a different slide and then come back to mine. I started turning off every single piece of hardware and software one by one, in search of a conflict. It turns out that my Apple Magic Mouse was the problem. I switched it to a plain MS wireless mouse and problem solved. *****, but it let's me continue. My point is that too many people are using Keynote just fine for any of us to throw in the towel and say it's universally and irreversibly broken. There are different bugs in play, but you have to go on the assumption that there's a way out if you can spot what's not quite right. Sorry I don't have your specific solution, but this mindset is what saved me from jumping ship to PPT.

  • Projection problems with KEYNOTE

I am an orthodontist and do many lectures showing pictures of faces and teeth.
I moved to Mac 2 years ago and I love Keynote BUT when I project the pictures the quality is significantly inferior to the identical slide projected through the same projector with the same cable using powerpoint.
The quality is also nowhere near the quality seen on my computer.
Do I need to buy a Belkin HDMI to DVI cable - I would love to do this if it will help?
Do I need to buy a Dell 5100MP projector with HDMI input - again happy so to do...
I just want to maximise the quality of the output, irrespective of cost...
    Please help

Not that your problem is related to doing dental presentations, but there are at least 2 people who specialize in helping presenters of dental information: James Cowherd in Las Vegas and Greg Lutke in Dallas. Greg may not have as much knowledge about Keynote as James, but both are great guys. Contact info should be easily accessible through google.

  • Problems with Keynote 2 files opened in Keynote 3

    Hi all,
I have about 50 lectures in Keynote 2 format that I want to use in Keynote 3 having 'upgraded' at the weekend.
Problem is when I open the file in K3 my bullet-points have mysteriously changed their alignment - the first build is fine (horizontal, in the right place), but the second and subsequent builds are vertically aligned to the right of the slide and go off the bottom of the slide.
Anybody else had this problem and any idea how to fix it?
p.s I should mention I am using files created in K2 with themes from Keynote User (the lower-case light-blue series).
    cheers
    Julian Prior

    Julian,
This is due to a bug in the parameters attached to the bullet settings - if you look on the Text Inspector, Bullet tab - you'll likely see the Text Indent value at the bottom is showing up as "NaN" (not a number). If you set that to zero (or any numeric value), it should revert to a more familiar state. At this stage it looks like this effects any theme/presentation that's Keynote 1.x compatible.
Might not hurt to send a bug report via the feedback page so there's more than just a few of us pointing it out.

  • Printing problems with keynote

Is it possible, when printing six slides on one page for the slides to be in two columns instead of one?  I know this can be done with PowerPoint, can it also be done with Keynote

Not directly in Keynote, but there is a work around:
    1. Create a blank page in Pages and open your Keynote adjacent to it then drag (from the slide navigator in Keynote)  and size 6 of the first slides on the blank so the layout looks good for you
    2. Select the six slide images on the Pages document and Format > Advanced > Make Images Place Holders
    3. Save the Pages document as a template and when ever you need a handout, create a new document with the template and drag the slides ( from the Slide Navigator) into the place holders.
    4. Duplicate the page in Pages (clone it by Option-Dragging in the Thumbnail view in Pages) to create additional pages.
Note: you can add page numbers and headers/footers on your handouts on the Pages Template if you like. You can also create dummy text to add notes or slide titles as needed.
    Hope this helps.

  • HELP  Paste problems with Keynote

I am having a problem that is becoming very frustrating. At times if I try to copy a block of text or a graphic from one slide to another, the item pastes on to the target slide but everything else on the slide disappears. I used to think it had to do with copying and pasting items that were layered. But I now have the same problem just copying a single item. The problem doesn't manifest itself immediately. I can be working for a few hours and be on my 50th slide and all of a sudden, I can no longer copy and paste. I have tried saving and re-opening the file. This doesn't help.
I have an important presentation tomorrow and can't finish the slides!

Additional Information... I just tried doing a Select All. This revealed that everything on the slide is still there but it has all gone to the BACK. Selecting BRING TO FRONT makes it all visible again. However... This unintended re-ordering is extremely annoying. What am I doing wrong?

  • Facing some problem with keynote

i downloaded the trail version of iWorks to see the difference between iWorks and Microsoft Office. i notice that when i open a power point presentation, the slides seem to be small. when i play the slide, it does not fit to the screen. please help.
besides that, can we install font? iWorks cant read Callibri?

you can install fonts into the system. find said font, download and double click it, a window with a preview of the fot will appear with a button to install it. hit that button.
screen shots of what you're seeing would help but it sounds like you need to set the default size of keynote to be bigger? you may also need to make sure both are up to date.

  • I am having a silly problem with Keynote and Pages. When ever i open a file, it opens the same file twice ?

When ever i open a file using key note or pages. The files opens up two times. I the ave to close one version of the file and only then can begin work.
Could you please help me how to get rid of this ?

    try routine software maintenance:
1 - shut down the Mac
start up the Mac again with the shift key pressed, release when Mac logo appears, let the Mac boot up it will take longer as it will be repairing the software
2 - Applications > utilities > disc utility > select the system drive > disc first aid > repair permissions
reboot normally and see if that helped

  • Problems with Keynotes

Why can't I upload pdf documents to Keynotes on my PC

    HI,
If you are running Safari 4.0.5, click your Apple Menu (top left in your screen) then click: Software Update... You need to update your Safari software.
Empty your Safari cache more often.
The previous keynotes always opened in their own quicktime window.
It should. Update Safari then repair permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • Anyone experiencing problems with Keynote files transferring from email?

Trying to open PowerPoint files, then store in Keynote.  Files won't open or transfer, all software is updated.

After research I downloaded an updated ACR 7.2
What exactly did you do? The best way to update ACR is to go to Help>Updates in the editor, which should have brought you to 7.4.

  • Audio (and other) problems noted with Keynote version 4.0.1

Since installing Keynote 4 and the 4.0.1 update, I have noted the following situations and/or problems:
    1) When doing a "save-as" the filename is appended with the suffix ".key" but when I subsequently "save" this file, the suffix disappears. The file seems to open and operate OK nonetheless, but this puzzles and somewhat concerns me that someday Keynote may not recognize the file. This happens whenever I "save" a slideshow after I have made any changes to it.
    2) When playing back a "soundtrack," the audio "glitches" frequently at slide transitions: this occurs repeatedly on my G5 desktop system but not on my MacBook Pro-17. The "glitches" always seem to occur at the same places in the track - which, of course, is also at the same slide transitions. (This problem has spawned several similar questions and threads in this forum.)
    3) Related to #2 above, the "glitches" also interrupt or corrupt the "recording" of that soundtrack, so that the synchronization is off when the slideshow is played back.
    4) If I want to have an audio track play under a series of slides, the only way I have found to accomplish this is to create a separate slideshow with the audio track running as a "soundtrack" and "record" the Builds and Transitions in sync with the audio. If I want to incorporate several of these shows together, I can create a "master" slideshow and Hyperlink each segment to the next. HOWEVER...
    5) When I "record" a "soundtrack" and "synchronize" the Builds and Transitions within the slideshow, everything plays back properly in sync ONLY when the slideshow is played as a stand-alone presentation (i.e. a cold start from the desktop). If I initiate playback of the slideshow via a Hyperlink from another presentation, the soundtrack plays but NONE of the synchronization works at all.
    6) The only way I have found to have an audio track "fade-in" or "fade-out" is to use off-line editing software to record these fades prior to importing the tracks into Keynote. The "Start Audio" Build function is simply a hard "cut" in, and the end of the track is a hard "cut" out.
These problems are consistent and repeatable facts. Whether they are "bugs" in the software or "design shortcomings" is uncertain. Nonethtless ...
At the risk of offending the moderators of this forum, I feel compelled to comment that these problems render the audio operations of Keynote less than satisfactory and should be addressed as soon as possible with another update to this visually stunning but audio-challenged application.

Well Ron S, I re-confirmed why I prefer not to look to tech support for support.
It seems to me that support's main function is to deflect any critical comments and push the blame back to the user.
Frankly, I have better things to do with my time and money than try to help a multi-billion dollar enterprise learn about itself.
So, for the benefit of you and the nearly 400 who have followed this thread, I offer you my latest and probably last attempt to have Apple acknowledge in some small way that "Houston, we have a problem".
I expect this reply will result in this thread being yanked as well, since I'm expressing negative thoughts about Apple's product and wishing they would do better, which is a non-technical gasp of utter frustration and disappointment. Note that "product" is singular, defining Keynote. My other Apple products serve me loyally and superbly, which is why my huge disappointment with Keynote.
So here is my correspondence with Tech Support. I've removed names except mine.
I think it speaks for itself. They have notes from my conversations with them that I have current Apple computers, including a MacBookPro, not an old PowerBook, nevertheless, they have told me that the problem is mine because the fabulous hyper-performing Keynote software is choking my poor old machine (paraphrased muchly).:
    Hi (support),
That's disappointing news, especially since this test was done on 3 machines: an old G4 400, a 2.0G Dual G5 and an Intel core duo MacBookPro which yielded identical results.
It is not a hardware issue.
I do not accept a brush-off that it is my hardware that is causing Keynote to be problematic.
I will assume that Apple is not interested in addressing these issues in public and that Keynote is substandard software that is in need of re-authoring.
Sorry to be so blunt, but Apple has set this tone with Keynote, and used its considerable reputation as a leading a/v technology innovator to imply that Keynote will deliver the excellence we Mac users have come to expect.
I have been a loyal mac user since the SE series and have enjoyed success with the machines and software offered by Apple, and depend on them for my livelihood. I'm currently using FC Studio6 and know that Apple is capable of maintaining its high standards.
However, Keynote fails to do that, instead behaving like a product that was invented in a teenager's basement and is in beta. I realize that it's not designed as a FCP level product, but it fails at the basic tasks that you advertise it will complete.
A version 4 product should work as advertised. Keynote certainly does not.
I'm deeply saddened that Apple seems to have become an iPod entertainment company, interested mainly in profits from entertainment rather than serious useful technology.

    Hello Sir,
Unfortunately, this does look like it's mostly a case of some of the new Keynote features slowing down the performance on the PowerBook.
At this point, there isn't much else we can do in the way of troubleshooting.
If you are not satisfied with the performance on the PowerBook, using the previous version of Keynote is probably his best option at this point.
We will continue to research this issue, but at this point it's unlikely I'll be able to find additional suggestions for improving performance, as it looks like it is is reproducible and limited to older models.

    Hi (support),
Thanks for your recent followup calls. I'm directing a video shoot so am a bit preoccupied.
Here are the tests I mentioned.
These are as simple as it gets, and I think highlights the synchronization problem with Keynote.
Test 1 is straightforward, and demonstrates that a single unedited recorded audio track will maintain mouse click synchronization.
Test 2 is the same file, but with audio modifications applied to each slide in succession.
This demonstrates a dramatic synchronization slippage.
The visuals occur before the click (and audio) markers. Keynote seems to be create delay in audio at each "record and replace" point. This accumulates as the audio is revised in successive slides.
These tests demonstrate that there is a fundamental flaw in how Keynote handles audio in its most basic application.
This does not address the slim toolset available, such as lack of insert capability and other basic audio tools, which is a separate design issue, and I suppose subject to "request for enhancement" feedback.
I've reluctantly abandoned Keynote for my project work at present until these basic issues are addressed and it can be demonstrated that Keynote can successfully execute its feature set.
