Problem with KM2MCOMBO-L SDR/DDR SocketA mobo

I recently purchased a KM2MCOMBO-L SDR/DDR SocketA mobo to upgrade a dead board which had been flashed with the wrong rom, unforunately the old board could not be easily recovered so this seemed the best way forward.
When i installed it and booted the machine everything seemed fine, apart from the temperature, the chip was running about 60 degrees. There was plenty heat paste on the back of it however. On running the machine for anytime the temperature rises to over 66 degrees, at which point it shuts down, unless i override the monitioring in the bios.
I've tried fiddling with most of the bios settings but nothing seems to improve things, is it possible that the original processor chip has been damaged by flashing the bios incorrectly? And if not, can anyone suggest a replacement chip spec?
The chip is an AMD Socket A, XP1800 chip, all power supply info checks out with the mono manual.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the advice, i thought i was doing everything right, however having read the FAQ's, then the manual for fitting the chip i took the mobo back out, and checked how well it went together. The nearest component to the heatsink was fouling the heatsink, resulting in it not sitting right on the chip.
I replaced the paste, re-fitted the heatsink as best as possible and it seems to work. Still rans a bit on the hot side when gaming, but think its maybe just the way things are.

    HELP! i got a problem with my mobo 945GCM7-L
    specs;
    *mobo = MSI 945GCM7-L(MS-7507) driver installed
    *cpu = Intel Pentium E2180, LGA 775
    *BIOS = american megatrends version 3.1
    *sdram = DDR 2 1Gb
    *GPU = sparkle/ nvidia 8500gt ddr2 1Gb128 bit (direct X9.0c and driver installed)
    *HDD = seagate sata 80Gb (3Gb speed enabled 'no jumper')
    *OS = XP PRO SP2
    PROBLEM:
    *sometimes it just hang-up (one application only) like a simple Microsoft word 2007.
    *while playing DOTA (LAN gaming) = in just a couple of minutes you will experience a lagged then suddenly you'll be disconnected from the game
    Isolation:
    change the SDRAM with lower and higher RAM = same problem
    change the GPU with higher and lower model (driver installed) = same problem
    cable connection + good connection = same problem
    take note;
    I GOT 4 UNITS WITH THE SAME SPECS = 4 UNITS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM
    NOW WHAT???

    Does it hang using the onboard VGA?  Try with prime 95 or orthos for stability testing, what spec are your psus?
    You could try the v3.2 BIOS but I'm not sure it will help you.

  • Strange major problem with 975X PowerUp Intel MOBO

    I’m suddenly having a strange major problem with a MSI 975X Platinum PowerUP Edition V2.1 MS-7246 Intel socket 775 motherboard. Previously, it had given me no problems at all.
    It went like this:
    Powered on system in the morning, booting from a cold start.
    Hit DEL key to get into the BIOS.
    Missed the window and the system booted into Windows normally.
    Re-started the system from within Windows.
    Hit DEL key to get into the BIOS and was successful the second time.
    Hit the ENTER key on the first item “Standard CMOS Features”.
    The DATE, TIME and other information was displayed on the next screen, but at this point, the BIOS screen became completely unresponsive to any keyboard input.
    The only thing I could do at that point was to power off.
    Subsequent power on boot-ups resulted in the system always freezing at the BIOS splash screen after the video card sign-on.
    I have switched power supplies, hard drives, keyboards and video cards. I have disconnected everything except the video card, keyboard and one RAM module. I have switched the four RAM modules around and then reduced the RAM to one 256MB module in the proper slot. I even changed the battery on the MOBO, in case it had shorted out and removed and re-seated the BIOS chip. It still halts at the BIOS splash screen.
    The BIOS chip can’t be completely dead, because I powered off and pushed the BIOS reset button on the MOBO to reset the BIOS to the factory defaults. When I re-booted, I could tell that it had actually reset to the factory defaults because I had previously set the BIOS to reboot the system on resumption of power and the factory default was to remain off until the power button was pushed, which was now the default.
    I’m stumped! All I can think of is to get a new pre-programmed BIOS chip and see if that makes any difference, but I’m not sure this system is even worth the expense with no guarantee of success. Any suggestions on how I might get past the BIOS splash screen or do I for sure have a corrupt BIOS chip?

    System specs as per the posting guidelines -
    Board: MSI 975X Platinum PowerUP Edition V2.1 MS-7246 Intel socket 775
    Bios: Version (can’t recall & can’t check since it won’t go past the BIOS splash screen)
    VGA: ASUS EN7600GS nVidia GeForce 7600GS PCI-e 256MB DDR2 (also tried new XFX nVidia
             Geforce 210 PCI-e 2.0 512MB DDR3)
    PSU: Chiefmax 680W ATX (also tried new OCZ 700W ATX)
    CPU: Intel 2.8GHz LGA-775 Core2 Duo Dual-Core Processor
    MEM: 4 x Samsung 512MB 1Rx8 PC2-5300U (2GB total)
    HDD: Seagate Barracuda 250GB SATA2 (also tried Seagate Barracuda 500GB SATA2)
    COOLER: Intel OEM LGA 775 fan/heatsink C25897-001
    OC: No
    OS: Vista Home Premium 32-bit
    I have been through the BIOS reset procedure several times and pretty much as outlined. As I said before, I could tell that it had taken a reset to the factory defaults, because the power on option had changed.

  • Problems with my Mobo - Hangs at "Testing Real Time Clock" - Whats up?

    Specs:
    MSI K7 Master - MS-6341
    AthlonXP 1800+
    512 PC2100 DDR
    40 gig Maxtor or Seagate 7200rpm, 2mb cache - tried both
    Pine 56x CD Rom
    eVGA GeforceFX 5200
    Generic 420watt PS AND Antec TruePower 430 watt PS - same results
    Alright, I can access the BIOS, etc. but after the first startup screen (with ram, processor type, IDE config, etc.) the screen just has a underscore blinking at the top left...and the error system says Testing Real Time Clock - Ive basically narrowed it down to the IDE connectors since I can unplug the hard drives and it gets past that section and asks for a boot drive - anyone have similar problems? I know he board is old but its for the family and Im stuck right now and I got some anxious members of my family wanting to know whats up with the system - any help will be appreciated...
    It should be noted that I was able to install/run Windows for a couple of days - then I got stability problems which was from the BIOS overclocking my ram past spec but I fixed that and Windows was fine but now I cant boot back up and it cant be virus or bad hard drive because Ive tried more than one - some people who also have this problem can sometimes boot to their OS but its usually not the case...thanks again for the suggestions..
    Things Ive Tried:
    Replaced the CMOS battery
    Cleared CMOS
    Change IDE channels
    Tried just the hard drive
    Removed jumper from hard drive
    Cleared CMOS
    Reseated the ram
    Reseated Video card
    Cleared CMOS
    If someone can find a working solution for this, Ill give them something in return - like some DVDs or cash or something, I really need some help..
    - Adam/vicks

    No problems with the mobo physically - I got it new from a trusted guy on some forums I goto (anandtech) new from an RMA - still sealed...
    I have it running....again....it doesnt like that 1st IDE channel for some reason - Ive restarted/rebooted a few times and nothing has happened so hopefully its fixed but still not cool - Im almost 100% sure it will happen again...

  • Problem with my 875P NEO FIS2R when tyring to use x4 Crucial 512MB DDR modules

    Hi all
    I have a problem with my 875P NEO FIS2R when tyring to use x4 512MB DDR modules. At first the system seem fine then it just hangs on me. All modules are exactly same and I have tried updating my bios and adjusting the settings but nothing works. My system is fine when using x2 512MB moduels. I have searched the forum and found no clear answer although there are other people with this problem. Please can anyone let me know if there is anything I can do with my current configuration to make the x4 512MB DDR work?
    From other posts I have learned so far that I either have to buy Paired modules from the manufacturer (which is no use because I bought my first x2 DDR a year ago) or only use x2 and now Dabs isnt taking the other x2 that I just bought because there is nothing wrong with the modules themselves (its the mobo).
    I built my system from scratch and wouldnt have been able to have done it without previous assistance so thanks in advance for any help

    Relaxing the timings will enable your RAMs to run at higher latencies so that they do not need to go extra mile to catch up with the transfer rates with the FSB.
    Lowering the frequencies is like underclocking a speedy twin turbo to a standard single turbine which means lowering of speed so that the RAMs can run lower than expectations which'll be able to provide room for o/c'ing back near to its original frequency.

  • Problem with socket packaging

    There seems to be a problem with the plastic cpu clip i work as a tech in a computer store we build many systems with msi boards, the plastic clip on the 915G series most times has fallen off and pins in the cpu socket have been damaged.
    You should use a plastic insert under the cpu hood to prevent it from falling off.

    Quote
    Not sure either why DelUK thinks this is not a suitable topic for this forum.
    Probably because Del interpreted "You should use a plastic insert under the cpu hood to prevent it from falling off." to mean that "You" was MSI, and not the members of this forum. Oddly enough, I interpreted this the same way.  I don't see where Del indicated the topic was not suitable, though.
    As Del said, and as mentioned in the Forum Rules, MSI does not participate here. If you feel there is a manufacturing problem, contact MSI directly.

  • Panasonic sdr-s150 / problem with aspect ratio

    Hi all,
    I'm about to purchase the sdr-s150 as it fits my needs regarding size vs. picture quality. Before doing so I wanted to make sure that footage from the camera can be edited with the all new imovie 08. And here's my problem with that.
    I downloaded some 16:9 sample footage out of the internet and imported this into imovie 08. The icons imovie creates in the import and project areas are all looking good regarding aspect ratio. In the project settings I choose aspect ratio 16:9 and 'fit to frame' (don't know the exact setting in the english version) for the clips being added to the projects.
    The preview of the clips and final export know shows black bars at top and bottom and the footage ist squeezed together.
    I already tried sdcopy and ran the clips through this before importing into imovie 08. No change.
    Any ideas ? Please also feel free to comment on the quality of the footage of this camera once processed through imovie from your point of view.
    Thanks,
    JasperJunker.

    hey there Derek100,
    i've experienced the same thing w/ FCP & iMovie (in NTSC). it's that the FCP easy set-up is "anamorphic", which is a 4:3 image made to appear as 16:9 & so that is how FCP works w/ the image. i really have no other explanation. i suppose if you create a custom set-up, you could eliminate the bars @ the top & bottom. there should be something in the Manuals, though i don't know where--i've never looked. sorry not to be of more help, but now i'm gonna investigate for myself.
    good luck.

  • Problem with the socket and the standard output stream

    Hy, I have a little problem with a socket program. It has the server and the client. The problem is that the client at one point in the program, cannot print messages in the console.
    My program does the next: the server waits connections, when a client connects to it, the server gets outputstream to the socket and writes two strings on it. Meanwhile, the client gets the inputstream to the socket and reads on it with a loop the two strings written by the server . The strings are printed by the client in the console. The problem starts here; once the read strings are printed ,I mean, after the loop, there are other System.out.println in the client but the console doesnt print anything . It curious that only when I comment on the server code the line that says: "br.readLine()" just before the catch, the client prints all the System.out.println after the loop but why?
    Here is the code:
    Server code:
    public class MyServerSocket {
    public MyServerSocket() {
    try{
    ServerSocket server= new ServerSocket(2000);
    System.out.println("servidor iniciado");
    Socket client=server.accept();
    System.out.println("Client connected");
    OutputStream os=client.getOutputStream();
    PrintWriter pw= new PrintWriter(os);
    String cadena1="cadena1";
    String cadena2="cadena2";
    pw.println(cadena1);
    pw.println(cadena2);
    pw.flush();
    InputStream is=client.getInputStream();
    InputStreamReader isr= new InputStreamReader(is);
    BufferedReader br= new BufferedReader(isr);
    br.readLine(); //If a comment this line, the client prints after the loop, all the System.out....
    catch (IOException e) {
    // TODO: handle exception
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    new MyServerSocket
    Client code:
    public class MyClientSocket {
    public MyClientSocket () {
    try{
    Socket client= new Socket("localhost",2000);
    InputStream is=client.getInputStream();
    InputStreamReader isr= new InputStreamReader(is);
    BufferedReader br= new BufferedReader(isr);
    String read;
    while((read=br.readLine())!=null){
    System.out.println(read);
    //These messages are not printed unless I comment the line I talked about in the server code
    System.out.println("leido");
    System.out.println("hola");
    }catch (IOException e) {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    new MyClientSocket
    }

    You are right but with this program the loop ends. As you see, the first class, the Server, writes to the socket one text file. The second class, the client, reads the text file in his socket written by the server and writes it to a file in his machine.
    NOTE: The loop in the client ends and the server doesnt make any close() socket or shutdownOutput() .

    }

    Hi!!
    The problem is at this line:
    System.out.println("Copies "+fileIn.read(buffer)+" bytes");
    Just comment out this line of code and see the difference. This line of code causes another "read" statement to be executed, but you are writing only the data read from the first read statement which causes approximately half the file to be send to the server.

  • Problem with SSL socket(SSLSocketFactoryImpl.createSocket())

    Hello,
    I'm trying to create a ssl socket but I get an exception, I really don't know why. I have alredy include the certificate via keytool to my jdk. And I'm able to get html header with URLConnection with the code below
    import java.net.URL;
    import java.net.URLConnection;
    public class testClass {
         public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
              try{
                   URL url = new URL("https://ippbx1:8443/axl/");
                   String userPassword = "****" + ":" + "****";
                   String encoding = new sun.misc.BASE64Encoder().encode (userPassword.getBytes());
                   URLConnection c = url.openConnection();
                   c.setRequestProperty("Authorization", "Basic " + encoding);
                   for (int i=0; ; i++)
                        String name = c.getHeaderFieldKey(i);
                        String value = c.getHeaderField(i);
                        if (name == null && value == null)     // end of headers
                             break;
                        if (name == null)     // first line of headers
                             System.out.println("Server HTTP version, Response code:");
                             System.out.println(value);
                             System.out.print("\n");
                        else
                             System.out.println(name + "=" + value);
              catch (Exception e) {}
    }and I get the following result :

    import java.io.*;

    import javax.net.SocketFactory;
    import javax.net.ssl.SSLSocketFactory;
    public class axlforward {
         public static void main(String[] args) {
    String address = "https://ippbx1:8443/axl/";
              int portnum = 8443;
    try
                   SocketFactory socketFactory = SSLSocketFactory.getDefault();
                   Socket socket = socketFactory.createSocket(address, portnum);
    } catch (Exception e) {e.printStackTrace();} I get the following
    java.net.UnknownHostException: https://ippbx1/axl/
         at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connect(PlainSocketImpl.java:177)

         at axlforward.main(axlforward.java:89)I have a VB program that connects to the socket(with Inet1.Protocol = icHTTPS and Inet1.Execute strURL, "Post", strFormData, strFormHdr methods) and do what I want but I need to do it in Java but I'm not able to find the error.
    the server socket is a Cisco callManager Service(AXL Web Service) which receives and html+SOAP request and sends back an xml response and this server socket is running correctly with no problem.
    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks for your reply.
    I now can access to my socket and get the information I want with:
    SocketFactory socketFactory = SSLSocketFactory.getDefault();
                   socket = (SSLSocket) socketFactory.createSocket("ippbx1", 8443);In fact the problem was a username/password issue.
    Thanks.I quote from reply #1 "The address is just "ippbx1" and not "https://ippbx1:8443/axl/". The protocol is not part of the IP address.".

  • Strange problem with SSL Sockets using more than 10 Clients

    Hi
    Im using Jsse ( JDK 1.4.2_06 ). I have coded a Client/Server Applikation acting over SSLSockets or over unsecured Sockets. If I use unsecured Sockets everthing works fine, but if I use SSLSockets for the Connection and about 20 Clients, the Clients often cant connect to the Server and the following Exception was thrown:
    java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect
    Could it be that there is some strange problem with SSLServerSockets relating to this phenomenon?
    If I use only a few Clients the Exception occurs never or only sometimes.
    Has anyboby an idea what is happaning there?
    Regards Chrisli

    Hi
    From the description of your scenario, you have coded your own server side of the application. I would advise that you consider moving your application to run under Tomcat framework and test if you still get the same exception.
