Problem with KT6 Delta-LSR

Hello
I bought MSI KT6 Delta-lsr today and haven't had it work yet.
Usually when I turn on the power only fans start to run and i get memory or processor error from d-bracket leds. Memory chips and processor should be ok since sometimes If I clear cmos and start pc, it seems to start fine and all leds are green but system will hang in winxp loading screen. Changing options in bios doesn't seem to do any good, usually boot after editing bios will cause again memory or processor error.
Any idea what is causing this problem?
Specs.
Amd TB 1ghz -> too old for this mobo?
256mb seitec ddr 333 (also tested Twinmos memory chips)
Msi kt6 delta-lsr
Msi gf4 ti 4200
harddrives, cd, cd-rw, the usual stuff...

Thank you for moving this topic to right forum.
I was wondering if those memory chips just doesn't work with my processor.
Could someone explain me this fsb and ddr speed stuff? Not sure if my tb runs
with fsb 100 or fsb 133. Or does those setting even matter for ddr rams?
Manual says that if I have cpu speed 100 and 333 ddr it's not supported but 133 and 333 should work. Still pc sometimes seem to start up but freezes soon. So to me it seems memory and proccessor works.

  • Problems with KT6 Delta-LSR AGP

    Hello all!
Im having a problem here. I cannot install my Chipset drivers. I've tried to install the newest ones, and also from the CD i got when buying this. Both of them freezes to 100% and my PC crashes every and each time. After that i reboot and the blue screen of death is what i get. It is caused by "viaagp1.sys". It says something like unable to load "viaagp1.sys" drivers, or something...
I have installed everything all over again 7 times now, and im very frustrated  . I have also tried with winxp pro and win2k. I have now win2k with SP4 installed, and still cant install the chipset drivers.
So the problem really is: AGP=OFF. If i change it to 8x it will request a reboot. Ok i reboot and go check again and its OFF. Im pretty sure that this is caused because of the missing chipset drivers...? And this leads to lack of performance.
Any of you have any ideas how could i fix this problem?
    -Thank you-

you must have somethink like this in your PC case. that is PSU(or maybe im wrong ) open it and look it.   he is asking about his specification. read sticker on it. Ampers is written there also. then paste here.

Well you people must hear this song and dance all the time about usb 2.0 not working, well i've done everything in the book, use the back brackets, fiddle with windows xp, etc etc, but after my friend booted linux onto the system we've determined that there is no usb 2.0 ports.. although there is a controller, and suggestions on what else can be wrong?

    Thank you!
Looks a bit like one of my own systems, so it is thus near perfection. However, I don't have a SoundBlaster any longer, and I don't have two floppy drives. Is the IDE configuration working flawlessly?
While waiting for the PSU figures I'd like to take half a step in a funny direction. Perhaps it can do some good to someone sometime, though I'm not sure it will be so for you.
What device do you put in the USB port? Is it flash drive, card reader or some other storage unit? Then you could try this I read in PCPro:
How to force a drive letter onto the device (WindowsXP I believe)
Go to Start | All programs | Administrative tools and select Computer managment. Then select Disk managment, found in Storage area. Right click the drive and 'Choose drive letters...' from the pop-up menu. Of course you need to select an ununsed drive letter.
In same way works a BIOS trick to choose 'Assign IRQ for USB' in BIOS. But I'm not sure it works with our AMI versions.

  • Problems with kt6 delta(glan)

    Hello,
i ve installed win xp(latest drivers, SP1), all did well, but i ve got data corruption, which resulted after several power downs/ups in one of these blue screens of death
    -page fault in nonpagable area
    -unmountable boot volume
    -kernel data inpage error
    -corrupted ntfs.sys
    -corrupted windows/system
    so...
removed pci audio card, put another hdd, flashed bios to 5.2, new install...
but corruption still appears, i ve tryied amidiag, but ram, cpu and hdd seems ok
Is that symptoms of defective MB?
Its strange that corruption appears when i power down pc, restart is ok, and when running, there are no problems such as hang ups, reboots or so...
    thanx in advance 3DA

ok thx Bas a lot, but had one question left, isnt problem that memt86 doesnt detect l2 cache, it posts unknown,  I am asking, cause my reseller got 1 month!!!! to work out my RMA. So if its possible i have to know exact defective component, each should take 1 month to rma.......

  • Msi kt6 delta lsr temp problem?

i have just installed a msi kt6 delta lsr , but when i have ran the system a while the sys temp is around 40-42 c and the cpu temp is around 52c .
on my old mobo the temps never went above 35c for the cpu and 25c for the sys temp .
my specs for old mobo etc =
    AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+
    jetway v400db (kt400 chipset)
    400w psu
    ata133 80gb hd (maxtor)
    512 ddr333
    geforce fx5800 ultra
windows me (but same in win xp pro)
2 fans blowing air into case and 2 sucking air out
does anybody know a way to improve the temps please

Yippee! A ME user, like me! You know I guess MS support for W98 and ME has been prolonged til 2006? It has partly to do with Linux.
The temperature for the CPU is a little high, but not alarmingly so. Barton gets a little bit hotter on these boards, and I think it is the placing belovw the PSU that is the cause. The system temperature for you is no problem.
To get the warmth away from the CPU I suggest a fan placed in the case door/side, that sucks it out.
Perhaps you have not got such a case door? Then I suggest a quiet 80 mm fan on the back of the case as high as possible, again sucking air out in order to make a nice air flow. Another suggestion is to tie away cabling to the sides of the case as much as possible, power cables, IDE cables etc.

  • Problems installing windows on 36.7GB raptor on KT6 Delta-LSR

I've been trying to get this damn thing to work for a few days   and then someone told me about the forum here at MSI. So far I've been reading different threads now for a total of approx. 3-4 hours and I don't think I've come across someone with my exact problem unless I've overlooked it. I've had two 40GB drives for a couple of years now and I decided that I'll upgrade to a WD 36.7 GB raptor. I thought all would be good until I popped it in and tried to install windows on it. I boot off the Win XP CD and press F6 to instal the SATA drivers. It accepts the drivers on the floppy, recognizes the drive and reformats and continues until, right after the format it says, "The disk or CD may be damaged......blah blah blah." I don't know if this is referring to my HDD, but it seemed like it was referring to my floppy b/c when I press enter to continue, it asks me to insert the floppy again, and then it reads the floppy and gives the same error. I've been trying to get this to work for the past few days now, and I think I tried almost everything. I disconnected all other optical drives and HDD's except for the Raptor and my dvd writer and still same prob. I tried d/l new sata drivers from MSI and still same problem. I changed where I plugged the sata into (since there were two ports) and still same thing. I wanted to update my bios (v5.5) but the readme file said not to flash from a floppy. I don't have another drive to flash from, so I don't know what to do about that. Please anybody help!!!   My system spec are below...
    MSI KT6 DELTA-LSR
    AMD 3000
    1.5 GB RAM
    ATI Radeon 9200
    WD 36.7 RAPTOR
    Samsung 40GB 7200rpm
    LG CD writer
    LG DVD writer
    Enermax 300W
    SB Audigy
    D-Link wireless network adapter
    ....I think that's about it.
When I tried installing last the CDRW and Samsung drive were disconnected....

    Hello,
I would like to comment on the 1.5Gb of ram.
Please use 1 stick and try again.
Also I hope you are not mixing modules of different make/spec/size.
    1GB + 512MB
    512MB + 512MB + 512MB <this one is good if thry are all the same make/model/revision
    256MB + 256MB + 1GB
You can test the memory with this program.
    http://www.memtest.org/download/1.51/memtest86+-1.51.floppy.zip
    - Extract all the files to a folder, then run the install.bat.
    - It will make a memtest bootdisk.
    - Then you must boot from this disk, please test each module individually.
    - If they are all fine then try your combo and see what happens.
    - Test each module for 1hour, if you get any errors instantly then you can stop and change module.
Do not flash until you are sure that the memory is ok.
    HOW TO FLASH BIOS
    ==============
Download this run it to make a boot disk.
    http://www.nerdlabs.org/bootdisks/diskimages/wboot98se.exe
Then get a 2nd disk, copy everything in the BIOS zip to it.
Boot from the RAMDRIVE DISK, start computer without cdrom support.
once its all loaded, put in the 2nd disk.
    type
    copy a:\*.* c:
    press enter
    type
    c:
    press enter
    type
    adsfi709 a6590vms.570
    press enter
    it should flash the BIOS.
Then you must turn the PC off and clear the CMOS, (JBAT jumper).
    Reconfigure all of your settings.

  • MSI KT6 Delta LSR SATA to PATA High CPU Usage Problem

Well recently I've switch to my one of my other motherboards on my network to a MSI KT6 Delta LSR, it was working fine after a reformat, but I notice a few problems and that is 100% cpu usage for SATA to PATA, and vice versa, which seems really crazy. Then my network card performance is ISDN speed sluggish, and I tested my line to be working 100% with another mobo. But when I put another NIC on the same mobo it suffers the same speed problems.
Any suggestions? The rig is specs:
    Barton 2500+
    Antec QuietPower 350W
    200GB Seagate SATA HDD
    40GB Seagate PATA HDD
    ATI Radeon 7500 AIW
    Audigy 2 Value
    Realtek 8139 NIC
    MSI KT6 Delta LSR Mobo
    2x512 MB PC 2700 RAM
    Pioneer 107D DVD Writer
    LG 16X DVD-ROM
    56K Modem (A-open)

Shouldn't say what I don't know about SATA, but since I found below, I need ask if VIA 4in1 drivers are installed, preferably while in SafeMode I say:
    http://www.google.se/search?q=cache:X6ewgPiIHYcJ:www.qdi.nl/cgi-bin/bbs/YaBB.pl%3Fboard%3DP4I865%3Baction%3Ddisplay%3Bnum%3D1074174096+sata+to+pata+cpu+usage&hl=sv
I recently installed 160g Seagate barracuda 7200.7 drive on SATA port. (I enabled the Bios using Auto) I have a P4I865pea-6al mother board, with two PATA drives . When copying files between the PATA drives on ide ports, to or from, the SATA drive, I notice the CPU usage goes up to 100%, but when copying files from one ide drive (the PATA drives) to another the CPU usage is very low.
Is there a bios setting that will allow me to copy files from the SATA drive to the Pata drives using a small amount of CPU power, found when just copying between the Primary and Secondary IDE drives? I am using Adobe premiere pro, which uses a lot of CPU power, and the high CPU usage of the SATA drive crashes this program? Any help would be appreciated

  • My system crashes when i use my soundblaster on my KT6 delta LSR

(English is not my native language, so sorry for the mistakes)
Hi, i'm new here and i need help, i just bought a KT6 Delta LSR (integrated 5.1 sound) and i want to use my good old soundblaster live! 5.1 but when i disable de integrated sound and plug my sound card the system, in the middle of windows operation (windows always boot), all of a suddden crashes or simply the sound freezes and stay in the same sound over and over again and then the whole system hangs and i have to reboot the system.
I have no idea of what could be causing the problem...
When i use the integrated sound it works fine and in stranges cases (for example: when i'm connected to the internet for more than 30 minutes) the system hangs, but with the sound card would not work 15 minutes ok.
Hope you can help me.... Thanks

Hi, i have noticed something.... it seems like the sound card has nothing to do with the problem, because i also have my system hanging when i use my modem (which is also a pci device), so i guess that the problem is someway related to the pci bus, can anyone help me???
The system works fine when i don't use the sound card or the modem, if i put some music it hangs before the first song ends, and with the modem it takes like 30 miutes to freeze, and i have to reboot.
    Wish someone can help me.

  • Sata on the MSI-KT6 DELTA LSR

    Hello
Can someone tell me if i can run 1 sata disc with windows XP and no ide hdd wil this work on my  MSI-KT6 DELTA LSR motherboard.
Or do i need to do it in raid
    Greetz sjoerd

It's possible.  There's one person who's had problems and there's others that say they can. The FAQ on the ASUS KT600 board says you can on XP (not sure about me or 98), so accroding to them the 8237 bridge should be able to. I'll paste the Asus steps which should be about the same.  You need to up date your bios to the one ending in .52 (for MSI).  Via has some newer drivers posted Sept 22nd ...maybe go with them at link below and follow the asus steps for 1 HD.  Post back if it works.  I'd use XP with SP1 incorporated.  I'm not saying the answer to your question is a definite "yes".
    ASUS FAQ site:
I have only one HDD, but it's SATA HDD. Can I use it to install Windows XP on A7V600 without building RAID?
Yes, you can install Windows XP with one SATA HDD on A7V600.
Please first copy the driver from A7V600 support CD \Drivers\VIARAID\DriverDisk\SATA\*.* into root directory of floppy disk.
(i.e. root directory of floppy disk should contain \pide and \sata folders, txtsetup.oem and vt6420 files.)
Then, boot system by Windows XP installation CD, when the below message show up, press "F6".
"Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver"
Then, press "S" to specify additional device when next screen show up. Put the driver floppy disk you made and press enter to continue.
(If the floppy disk is made successfully, the installation program will ask for selecting driver. Please then select "VIA Serial ATA RAID Controller(Windows XP)".)
After SATA driver loaded and Windows XP can recognize SATA HDD, you can continue to install Windows XP as usual.
(If the driver is selected successfully, but the installation program cannot find your hard drive. Please check whether the hard drive is connected correctly both SATA cable and power cable.)
Via has some new Sep 22nd drivers (you might try those) and in the notes it says it does JBOD along with RAID.

  • DDR400 freezing on KT6 Delta-LSR ?

I usually run 2 x sticks of 512MB Kingston DDR400, and have never had a problem.
I've removed them to test a 1GB stick of Kingston DDR400, but it won't work at 'full speed'.
I'm guessing the RAM is fine, as it was working perfectly in the system I pulled it from.
XP freezes (after about 5-10 mins) when I run the RAM at 400MHz, but seems to be ok at 333MHz.
    > Tested RAM in all slots, still freezes
    > Booted into Windows Memory Diagnostic - no errors
    > Booted into Memtest86 - no errors (didn't let it run long though)
    > Ran HCI Memtest from XP, and it froze as soon as the test started. But will run fine at 333MHz.
I ordered another 1GB stick a few days ago (to have 2GB total). Have I wasted my money? Will I have to run my DDR400 RAM at 333Mz?
    Any suggestions?

I tried disabling spread spectrum, froze again.
Bugger it. I'll just stick with 333. I'll be getting another one (DDR400) in the mail in a few days, so I'll test that (by itself) and see if it can run at 400. Not that it will be much use even if it can.
I was going to buy 2 sticks of 333 anyway, but the 400s are cheaper. So I guess even if I'm stuck at 333, I've still saved a few dollars.
Nearly time to retire the Delta-LSR I think....

You don't mention the Brand of your ram.  You stated that' it's Cas 2.
I purchased some generic ram that was Cas 2, but I couldn't push my FSB above 100.  When I upgraded to some Kingston (see below) I could easily push it to 166.
    Good luck!!!

  • How far can a 2400+ with Kt6 delta

    Hello guys!
I'm a beginner overclocker, so I dont know how far can a 2400+ can go, what is the best performance it can handle with stabiliy. Please help me, thanks!!!

    Win 2000 PRO with SP4

    2.4 with an AXDA model.
runs at 2.5 in dos, but dosnt boot into windows.
Reeeal good heatsink like those thermalrights with a big fan would probably run 2.5G's.
Water cooling should do a mighty job at OC'ing the 2400+
Im gonna AS5 and lap my V12, should do quite alot better after that, not much extra cost either.
    Runs mighty hot though.....yeeeeeeeowwwww

  • HELP - MSI KT6 Delta-LSR

    hi,
i have this motherboard: msi kt3 ultra2, and now im buying a new one, for use with my barton 2500+.
i prefer MSI KT6 Delta-LSR, but i dont know if can i change the multiplie like in Abit NF7-S (MaxFID™ Technology).
    can i do this on MSI KT6 Delta-LSR ?
remember: in actual motherboard i can change the cpu ratio only to 12.5
i need to select what ratio i want. like 15x, 16x...
thanks and sorry for the english.

a its a via board not an nforce
b why change it if you want multipliers like that ,only reason to change is to run 200 fsb and you only get yto do that with lower multipliers

  • RAM for KT6 Delta-LSR

    I'm currently running 2 x 512MB of DDR400 in my old KT6 Delta-LSR, and I want to upgrade to a total of either 2GB or 3GB.
Since this motherboard can only handle 2 slots of DDR400, I guess I'll be throwing out my existing ram, and starting from scratch.
I've just looked on the Kingston site, and they say that the KT6 Delta-LSR can only handle 1GB of DDR400.
    So I can't simply buy 2 x 1GB sticks of DDR400? Is this right?

Should I just play it safe and get 2 x 1GB DDR333, leaving me the option of filling all 3 slots in the future?

If you're only running at 333ddr you may be able to run 3GB. But pc3200 will run at either 333 or 400, so you may as well get pc3200 and downclock it.
The board may not like 400ddr with all slots filled. I would get a matched 2x1GB kit, preferably low latency but not essential and just fill the outer slots. The kit may come in useful on an Nforce2, Nforce3 or similar higher performance platform although it's all getting a bit dated now.

Please do me a favor to choose one brand that fit my mobo in this link:

I tried KingMax(SuperRam Series, since they don't have the ram with the model listed in the test report) and Corsair(CMX256A-3200C2) ,both no good for 2*256MB DUAL channel
    Thank you very much

I think OCZ and Samsung, is mostly work memory,r ight?
    thx
I think I will try OCZ
