Problem with Ligatures / OpenType features...

Hi, I am writing a book using an OpenType font and encountering some problems.
Note - if pics don't show up below, click and they'll "enlarge" and appear.
This type of font has alternates, which can be edited using the "Typography Panel" as shown here:
OpenType fonts, such as Zapfino, have alternate characters. Here's the default settings for this font:

The changes look fine in iBooks Author, but when I sync them to iBooks on the iPad OR on the Mac, the fonts revert back to their original settings (with different character shapes). I believe this problem just started, and it is messing up my layout a great deal!
When the book transfers to the iPad, it looks fine while the "loading..." screen is there. But as soon as the loading is done, the fonts jump from the chosen "Typography" setting to the default. This happens with downloaded OpenType fonts as well as pre-installed ones from Apple. It also occurs even when I am starting a fresh book from a template, so I don't think my file is corrupt. Any idea what I can do to help?

Tom, thank you for taking the time to check whether this works for you. I could have sworn it was working on my projects as recently as a few weeks ago, but perhaps I just didn't notice that when previewing the book on the iPad it was reverting to standard lettering.
I'm not using Zapfino in the book, but I knew it would be a good example since it is a default font. I was under the impression that iBooks supported OpenType features because they allow selection of special typography features in iBooks Author, those features display in iBooks Author, and there's some mention of turning on/off ligatures at this support site iBooks Author: Change text font, size, color, alignment, and spacing (see 2nd to last paragraph) ... ligatures being in the same panel as the other options.
However, if it doesn't work for you and doesn't work for me... it probably just doesn't work!

Problems with the Resume feature

Hello.
Since I installed Lion I've been having a problem with the Resume feature. I've been searching for a solution, or at least others with the same problem, but in vain.
I've always used the feature, but sometimes it works, other times not so much. As an example: I might have Safari opened with multiple tabs and TextEdit opened with multiple windows too, even Finder with multiple windows opened. I shutdown/restart with Resume checked and when it's login in the first thing I see are all the windows I had from last time, after a few moments the Safari window disappears (but the application is still opened), or the TextEdit windows disappear, or even Finder or other application I might had open before. It seems to be a little random in terms of what applications "lose" their windows at login, sometimes all, a few, or none.
Is anyone having the same problem? Is it a bug or a problem with the installation?
Appreciate the help.

are some of these apps on fullscreen mode? they will disappear after opening, since they can't all be visible at the same time.
and do you use spaces? similar story, if the app in question is in a space other than finder.

Problem with Deactivating iCloud-Features

Trying out some solutions fixing the battery-drain.problem i´ve found another problem.
by trying to deactivate the icloud-features my iphone 4 hangs up.
does anyone else got this problem o anyone with a solution here?

I Too am having problems with iBooks highlighting the entire chapter if I touch the right edge of a page. It overrides my previous highlighting making my studying useles. It's terribly frustrating! iOS 8 has been a big,big problem. Apple has to fix this. There should be a way to undo it. It's a terrible mess.

Problems with ligatures in firefox, gtk-apps

I have trouble with ligatures such as fl and fi in firefox and some different gtk-apps(pidgin for example). The problem is that the ligatures are rendered at a slightly different size and weight for some fonts.
I use libxft-lcd and freetype2-lcd. I don't really care for ligatures for on screen display, just a way to disable them altogether would work just fine.

I believe multicast means you are sending with a 255 address, like 198.162.10.255. Most routers will block multicasts, probably because multicasts cause a lot of traffic. (And of course multicasts will not work over the internet.)
UDP can send multicast or to a specific IP.
There is no problem with using more than one port.
If you listen on a UDP port then you get everything that fits in the buffer. So as long as packets aren't being dropped then you are getting everything.

Architectural Problem with file upload feature. URGENT!!!

          We have an architecture in a production site which has iPlanet in the front & WebLogic at the back. The web-tier and the middle-tier both reside on the WebLogic server & only the static assets (images, PDFs etc.) are serviced by iPlanet. Recently we had to incorporate a new feature to our existing site to allow the user to upload images onto the server. The problem with this is that since our web-tier is in WebLogic, the uploaded file would reside in the WebLogic server's document root and will not be accessible to the iPlanet server. Is there any way that I can store the images directly in iPlanet even though the servlets reside on WebLogic. I know this query sounds a bit weird & I'm asking for too much but I also have this feeling the architecture of our site is not very different from a lot of other sites & other sites also have upload functionalities, so how do they go about dealing with this problem. Porting the web-tier to iPlanet is not a solutions since there are a lot parties involved & we cannot at this point take that decision.
          Would really appreciate any help from you guys.

u can have AppServers serve the image if u want to.
          u just need to set the path correctly and save them in the right directory.
          we are already doing it with Iplanet and we wrote a sample for Weblogic6.1 too.
          if i remember correctly u need to put the image directiry say "imageDirectory" in "wlserver6.1"
          then u need to access via http://apache_webserver_box:80/weblogic_identifier/imageDirectory/myimage.jpg

Problems with the Diff-Feature

i am new to EMF-Compare and i use it to compare parts of my models. I have enountered a problem with the comparison where there are differences but the compare algorithm cant find them.
here are my two models

After i have run the code the list is empty.
Any other changes are found and properly shown.
The model on picture 2 is contained in another element not shown in the screenshot. Is it possible that this causes the error?

Unfortunately, EMF Compare doesn't support the comparison of EGenerics inside EType Parameters yet. So it is normal that you see no differences in your case.

Hello Someone knows if theres a problem with sign in feature the Folio Builder Panel

Recently I did the update of the DPS tools, to the 27, the desk top viewer dosen´t install, and I install it manually as sugested, and it works
but, I can´t connect the folio builder panel with the DPS account using the folio builder panel side menu, simply it dosen`t work.
I can sign in into the account in DPS home page, using the app builder log in panel an so on, but folio builder panel don´t
Some one has the same behavior?
Is this a an Apocalypsis signal?
or a warning about the Nibiru affaire?
Any clue?

hello ludovix78. Welcome to the world of those who can not connect to the Folio Builder.
To give you an idea, this problem started with the v26, and then fix the v27 and nobody gave a possible solution.

Then I tried turning off "Enable scalable feature of XSLT processor" (under the FO Processing, default is ON) This error cannot be reproduced again (i.e. my report can run in whatever sequence without an error).
Would anyone explain to me what actually is the difference between setting the "Enable scalable feature of XSLT processor" to true and false. I'll be running the same report template with thousands of pages in some cases and I'm anxious whether turning OFF the "scalable feature" will make the performance suffer.

Is anyone having problems with the Notes feature in the new Mountain Lion OS? When I open this feature it begins to pinwheel and then it closes and I get an error message!

Strange problems with shake shuffle feature. Help? :S

Hi, I have a nano chromatic and I've been noticing that the shake shuffle feature has been giving me a bit of trouble. At first, it was just the album art problem, where different songs would have another one of my songs' album art. Recently its started to show album art from songs that are not on my ipod and have never been on there either.
Now, I'll be going through my songs on shuffle and I'll get to the 17th song and then I'll skip to the next song and it will be a song I had skipped past like 5 songs back. I'll check the song number and it will say 146 or something. Its getting really annoying. Anyone else having this problem? or can anyone help me? I only want to have to use restore as a last resort.

I use a Gmail account in Mac Mail and I'm having problems with the Notes feature

Whenever I create a note two copies are saved in the All Mail folder. One that is titled "New Note" without any content in the note and another that is the actual note that I meant to make. Why does Gmail create the unnecessary "New Note"?

I have just upgraded from an iPod touch to iPhone and the notes app won't work at all. It imported note from my iPod (which used to work fine) but will not let me add or delete notes and the contents of the notes are also screwed up. If it was a computer app I would bin it and reload but how do you that with an iPhone.
I can't face calling the Apple help line. Anyone any suggestions?

Problems with the shuffle feature in itunes.

When I first bought my nano I would create playlists in itunes and turn the shuffle on there. You would see on the screen that the playlist was shuffled, and it would be when you went to use the ipod. After an update though I would do the same thing and the itunes screen shows it shuffling but the ipod plays the songs in alphabetical order still. Even when I plug the nano back in to my computer the itunes still show's it as shuffling. my software is the most up to date version.

Adobe Muse problem with the "pin" feature

I am creating a prototype under the tablet setup. I can't access the "pin" function for some reason. It won't activate at all. Seems deactivated. Anyone know why?

I'm a little weary of providing the url's as they are prototypes of a product not yet released and this work is being done as part of client pitch. I have been using muse as a means of prototyping our work to communicate with development and test out visuals, and transitions. This tool has been extremely helpful for me as I am a designer that has very limiting coding skills.
I can tell you that I'm not using a web font (I find the image output of text [not web-friendly] is pretty jaggedy) so I have been doing the majority of my work as part of png's as pages. Both sites are making use of the same png's output from Photoshop. They are completely one png. All assets are image files actually, which lends me to believe that somehow the web output of muse is rendering the images better than the desktop output.
re: Were the desktop and tablet layouts created in the same or different .muse files? No they were created in different .muse files.
re: Do they both have the same setting for "Convert opaque PNG to JPEG" in the "Content" panel of Site Properties? Yup they both have those checked.

I have a problem with remember passwords feature

My wife and I share the same computer but we have different identities which we log into. She is running her own separate Firefox 4.
The password manager does not recognize the two are separate so we keep getting conflicts when remembering log in info. Everything else like bookmarks, etc. works as it should , ie seperately

Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
When the menubar appears select Terminal from the Utilities menu. Enter resetpassword at the prompt and press RETURN. Follow instructions in the dialog window that will appear.
