Problem with Lion and mobile device
I can access the web only through a mobile pen drive. Lion can't make the access because need a java run time for the mobile device and can't get the run time because not internet connected!
So for reference, in case other people are experiencing this problem...
It seems to be happening to iMacs running Lion and using bluetooth keyboard and/or mouse and/or trackpad. What happens is when you turn the computer on and the bluetooth devices on at the same time Lion can't find them, panics and starts up in Safe Mode. That is why functionality (including network) is limited. Restarting the computer seems to fix the problem and Safe Mode is avoided on the second boot up.
The fix is apparently (and it works) to turn the iMac on and wait for the grey background and apple logo. Wait for the spinning circle/clock face to stop and vanish, then turn the bluetooth devices on when you see your desktop. I've been doing it for the last ten days and it's worked perfectly every time.
In the mean time, Apple please can you recognise this as an issue and fix it?!

Mountain Lion fails to install saying it cannot create the recovery; I had a similar problem with Lion and the Apple Store that helped me resolve it gave me an installable version of Mountain Lion on a flash drive for my inconvenience....is there some trick I am missing or do I need to make an appointment with a genius...
I have the MacIntosh volume and the Boot Camp partition only. I know that when I installed Lion, I had to go through a whole back-up and recovery of Windows and then re-format the drive.
The tech at the Apple Store had a previous life as a MSCE and was very helpful. I believe he even said that I should not have htis problem with Mountain Lion which is why they gave me the flash with it onboard. I was in the process of starting a new job when I went to Lion, so I have waited to do this next and probably last upgrade to this old MBP since I doubt Apple will support this MBP in Maverick.
I do not have another installation, so that is not an option. I will try to create an external, I have plenty of hard drives around and see if I can get it done that way. It might take me a week or two to get back to it, but I will comment back upon completion of that effort. Thanks for your help....Dave Iverson -
Problems with Lion and .pkg files.
After the upgrade to Lion, i've a problem to install .pkg files. If i try to open it with double click, terminal window starts and cursor waits for commands! With Leopard the installer program started after double click on .pkg files, but with Lion "installer" seems to be disappeared.
Same happens with some apps, when clicking they don't install, but terminal window starts...
How to fix this problem?Apologies for the misspellings.
Basically i have tried uploading my MP3 files (one by one) in my device. then i tried uploading films. then when i disconnected my device all my songs on the device is gone. i do not know what happened exactly.
it would seem the current iTunes version is "unstable". having uploaded 50 songs, doing them one by one only to find out out it got wiped out in the device for some reason.
any explanation for this?
Thank you. -
Great problem with bluetooth and MIDP devices
Hello all,
I'm making a client/server application with bluetooth JSR82 Serial Port Profile (SPP). The clients are mobile phones (J2ME application) that want to get informations from a server (J2SE application) that publishes a service.
My system works well with Sun Wireless Toolkit: it works fine also if I try to start a lot of servers and a lot of clients and a lot of other bluetooth device.
When I install it on actual environment like a personal computer with BlueCove stack and mobile phone like Nokia 6600 it works ONLY if there are 1 client and 1 server.
The problem is that the mobile phone doesn't find the server if there are other Bluetooth devices enabled!!!
I've made a lot of changes in my code but it don't work!
At first my client application works in this way:
1) start finding Bluetooth devices
2) a device found -> start finding services on this device
3) a server service is found -> stop device inquiry and connect to the server
4) else client continues to search devices and iterates like above
This solution works WELL on Sun toolkit but not on Nokia 6600 and Bluecove. So i changed it in this way:
1) start finding all bluetooth devices
2) after device inquiry stops:
3a) start finding all services on first device found... waiting for end
3b) start finding all services on seconddevice found... waiting for end
3x) ....
4) connect to the first service found
Also this solution doesn't work with Nokia 6600 and BlueCove!!!!!!!
I'm getting crazy!!!
Thanks,
Renato
ps Sorry for my English...Hi guys, Im new here and its the first time i get to develop something using J2ME and J2SE toogether via bluetooth! You seem to be more expert than me so i was wandering if you could help me with some literature or even with some code.
I even tryed BlueCove but Im having some trouble! Please help me!!!

Problems with iWeb and mobile me
Ciao everyone,
I've been having a ridiculous amount of problems with my mobile me account and my iweb. 2 weeks ago I was fine with my iweb and mobile me but all of a sudden my iweb would say it publish but it really doesn't publish. The I went to the mac store a couple of times and thought I would get answers but I didnt get any answer even though I had a couple of one to one visits with a couple of stores in NYC. So when i publish it it shows that it published in my www.me.com/idisk/iweb folder but then it doesn't show in my website. Then one guy told me that I should just recreate a new site but copy and past all the old information to the new one. Now it won't publish at all because I guess its a lot of information to publish at once. I get an error message saying error iweb was not able to publish please try again later. Any help?Hey you guys,
Thanks for the help, but I did try to publish all to my iweb and it didn't work. I do try to view my published website through the file/visit published site and for some reason only my intro page is there then when i go into the main page i get an error page. I also did go to my finder/Go/idisk/myidisk/iweb/site/iweb and saw my websites folder. Everything seems to be in it. I tried to take a screen shot of what is in my folder but I can't post pictures. In my folder I have a folder for gallery, index.html, site, shites.rss, and my website folder usvisualswebsite
Any other suggestions? This is really frustrating. I also created another test site with nothing in it and published it and it says it finishes publishing but the blank test page isn't there. -

Lion and Keynote Problems -
Are there any problems with Lion and Adobe CS5 ?
I am wanting to upgrade to Lion but don't want to have the hassle of trying to fix any problems as I have heard some people had problems with earlier versions of Adobe Creative Suit and Lion and having recently moved I have no clue where my CS5 keys are so before doing so I want to know there will be no errors.
Peoples experiences would be appreciated and many thanks.I have upgraded two Mac mini's which both have the Adobe Creative Suit Cs5 Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop. I have had no issues regrding the upgrade, they just work.
However I do have two user interface issues. InDesign the keyboard page up, page down keys no longer work as expected, they simply jump to the next screen, the workaround is to use a trackpad for the left hand and use two finger scrolling.
The other is the arrow buttons in the vertical scroll bar no longer exist, so again the trackpad comes in for scrolling.
This applies for almost all software and the finder. -
Are others having problems with Lion and btinternet mail ?
Since using OS-X Lion many odd things have been happening , especially with Mail ( 5.1).
The problems may be related to the combination of Lion/Mail 5.1 and btinternet as my ISP.
1. Since using Lion, with (Mac) Mail I have been unable to use BTinternet's 'POP' mail - although my local Apple Store Genius tells me that it was not a good choice and I'm well rid of it - in favour of IMAP mail
2. BT has, recently improved the security of its IMAP mail, so perhaps IMAP is the best choice. In any event Mac Mail under Lion appears to take over as soon as bt is mentioned and signs me up automatically for IMAP. Even if I override the automatic process it still will not let me go to bt's POP mail.
3. HOWEVER ( it's a big one!), whilst the incoming IMAP mail seems O.K. it frequently won't let me send mail. It simply puts it into drafts when I click send.
4. Sometimes, if I go away and make a coffee ( not mandatory) and come back ten minutes later it will have sent the mail - but leaves a copy in 'drafts'. I know it has sent it because it appears in the Send box - despite there being no sign on any movement showing sending when I leave the machine ...
5. I have a Macbook and a desktop machine ( Mac Pro). Both have the same problem - both have the same settings.
6. I was able to demonstrate the problem to a Genius at the Apple Store. We deleted the account and rentered it and had the same problem - no sending.
In a 45 minute sending we could not solve it.
7. I went home and found that the drafts in Mail on the desktop had all gone and had been sent.
8. Today, as I write outgoing mails and click send they go straight into the Drafts again.
Any ideas? I really can't face an hour on the phone to an Mac incompetent in Mumbai .....
My btinternet webmail is behaving normally.
GordonI do the same, I have different backgrounds for each desktop. I don't have any problem with it. You could try holding the mouse over prefferances and selecting options , This Desktop, and do the same in each desctop and changing the desktop background in each.
You may allready do this, but it could be worth a shot to do it again. -
Problems with iMessage across mobile devices
My wife and I both have iOS 5 on our iPhone 4's, and I have iOS 5 on my iPad 2 as well. I receive her messages from her phone on both my iPhone and my iPad, but my iPad won't let me reply: the Send button is blue, but the word "Send" stays grey, and won't function. Obviously it is receiving messages just fine, so I have something right in the settings, but why can't I send a message? It doesn't matter whether I am in my home wi-fii, or running across 3G- it won't work either way. Please help!
I am having huge problems with imessage. I go to send an imessage and the sending bar at the top gets to around 90% and then just stops. It takes around 10 minutes before it finally says fails. Often you dont even realise it has failed as it says it has sent, yet when you check your phone there is a red dot against it. This is a huge problem both in and out of wifi areas. My phone is usless when trying to text my wife who also has an iphone 4s as it only sends an imessage around 50% of the times I Try.

Printing problems with Lion and Lexmark T630
I have a Lexmark T630 b/w laser printer with USB and IP connectivity.
With 10.6.8 I could print happily over Ethernet to the printer from iMacs (wired), mini (wired) and MBP (wireless).
With Lion on one of the iMacs and on the MBP I can't print over Ethernet.
The print queue shows a job 'Supply levels' in the print queue and does not print.
The printer is activated and this job appears as soon as I select the print dialog in apps (not actually select 'Print', just opening the print dialog).
I moved the printer to be USB connected to my Airport Extreme and get the same symptoms, except the 'Supply levels' job prints a single line of symbols (mainly Spanish characters with some other symbols and ending in 2 smileys. It is always the same set of symbols, so I get this one line of junk on a page and then my print job prints. Note that the T630 has *never* displayed supply levels in any version of the OS.
The line printed is below.
This always happens from the Lion machines and does not happen from the other iMac which is still running 10.6.8, or from a mini which is connected on another network to the network port of the printer. The mini is also running 10.6.8.
I have downloaded the latest Lexmark drivers from Apple and also from Lexmark (same version of driver either way) and it makes no difference.
I can't find anything on the Apple Support site or the Lexmark support site.
It definitely looks like an issue with the printing system in Lion - both the phantom job and the activation of the printer as soon as a print dialog is opened.
Anyone have a fix for this? The phantom print job will be a Postscript file to check the printer status. This process has been around since 10.5 but it usually is responded to silently by the printer rather than it sitting in the print queue. If you don't have the Supply Levels menu in Options & Supplies for this printer in Snow Leopard then it would suggest that Lexmark has changed the PPD for Lion.
So you could try creating another print queue on Lion but this time selecting the Generic Postscript driver included with Lion. This should let you print but provides few options. It it does work then at least you have an easy workaround.
Another possible fix would be copying the T630 PPD from Snow Leopard and replacing the T630 PPD in Lion. The PPD for both OS's are stored in /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources. With the SL T630 PPD copied, you can open the CUPS web page in Lion and select to modify the T630 queue. From this page select the T630 printer and from the next page change the Adminstration drop menu to Modify Printer. You will be prompted for your Mac admin user name and password. After entering these details you see the first page showing the print queue. Select Continue and probably Continue again until you see the page where you can change the printer make and model. Here is also the section to browse for a PPD. Browse to the T630 PPD from Snow Leopard and then press Modify Printer. Now you can see if all that effort was worth it. -

Problems with EA2700 and Android devices
I enjoyed EA2700 for more than 3 months so far until I decided to change my cell phone to Galaxy S3.
I have my router operating 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz simultaneously, providing perfect internet access to my two windows 7 laptops, mac mini and iPad. This is not the case when I try to hook my Galaxy S3 phone and Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. This two korean devices have a real problem using the router for internet. Both the tablet and the phone connect to the router and have strong signal, but there is no ping going through nor any other internet app works. The router is set to WPA2/WPA Mixed personal sec mode and auto channel. I even try to make it open, but even then the Android devices connect but don't have an internet access. In the same time the rest of the home pcs and mac work perfectly.
I tried, for the two last days different approaches like upgrading the router firmware, installing the cloud and the smart wi-fi interface, removing the security and opening the network…. it didn't work! What I figure out so far that if I set a guess account the devices connect without problem and have internet, although I have to manually enter the password for the guess account, which dialogue is provided through a web page you have to navigate to before attempting to use internet. I though the problem could be with the Samsung s3 and the tablet 2 7.0, and had them several time reset to their factory settings.
I tried connecting and old WRT 120N router and it worked fine!!!! just this EA2700 is still not usable with android devices running Android 4.0 OS.
Has somebody experienced the similar problem please share the found solution, otherwise I have to change the EA2700 i guess.

you may wanna try using Wireless B/G Only for network mode on 2.4GHz. check if your devices can connect to the network successfully. there was an issue with Android devices connecting to N networks before so this might be a fix. however, it will rate limit your connection speeds to 54Mbs at best.
there's also a workaround you can try on the android devices. ensure wifi is set to enable at start up. turn off wifi and reboot the device. verify your connection status. since your devices have already connected to the network, they should reconnect to the network automatically. check if you can go online from there.
