Problem with mac mail and Mediacom

Just bought a macbook 13" with 4GB and 2.4 core2duo 2.4
I have a problem with 10.5.6 and mac mail with mediacom at work. I can receive but can't send. I have no problems with bellsouth.net when using that provider at work.
Mediacom has no answers so I'm here. I've filled that required fields correctly using mail.mchsi.com in incoming and out going mail servers. Firefox mail client works fine with Mediacom but I want to use the Apple client. I've used advice from what I could find on google and nothing works such as repair permissions to change ports. I hope a Mediacom user can shed some light to this problem. If all else fails I will use the Firefox mail client but I really don't want to.
Thanks

I had the same problem with a relatives macbook on mediacom broadband just today,
Something gets corrupted if you enter the server wrong on the first try and even editing to correct it won't fix it. You must delete the server and add a new one.
To fix it go to mail preferences and click account at the top of the prefs window. At the bottom of the account pane click the outgoing server list and select edit server list. Select your server and hit the - symbol on the left below the list. I then close the prefs, save changes and quit mail. Re-launch Mail and open prefs, select account again and edit outgoing server, click the + at the bottom of the list and add a server, double click the server where it says double click here and type mail.mchsi.com in the box. close the prefs and save changes and you should now be able to send.

  • UAG problems with OSX - same problem with Mac Mail and Outlook 2011 (via EWS)

    Hi folks,
I'm trying to fix the last snagging issue I have with OSX clients in a UAG / Exchange 2010 deployment:
When trying to connect Mac Mail or Outlook 2011 the connections are very slow to start up, both at initial config and thereafter.
On connection I see lots of the same error re Session Cookies in UAG and no connection in the mail client. If I leave it for a few minutes, sometime many minutes, the errors stop and I eventually get a working connection.
    The error is:
"Sesson Attempted to Access Restricted Application"
User with source IP address x.x.x.x  tried to access application Exchange EWS that was restricted that was restricted for the session. This might indicate an intrusion attempt by misusing the session cookie.
Has anyone got any suggestions on how to fix this ?
    Many thanks
    Steve

Ruud, no, we didn't find a solution, or rather our solution (so far) is to tell users not to use Mac Mail and to use Outlook 2011 instead, which seems to work fine (after some Office updates!)...and we haven't upset anyone with that requirement
    (yet).
There are some very long discussions on Apple support forums about the whole Mavericks / Mac Mail / Exchange 2010 issues.
I do hope to have another go at this problem sometime soon, I'm sure there must be a solution (and my money says it relates our hardware load balancers).

  • Thawte Personal Email Cert - Problem with Mac Mail

Hi, I have requested a free cert from Thawte and there seems to be a problem with Mac Mail (using 2.0.7).
I am using Entourage to send a signed message from [email protected] to [email protected]
If I check mail for [email protected]
Mac Mail reports "There was a problem reading the digital signature for this message"
If I check the same account with Thunderbird, everything works fine.
Anyone else having or had problems?
    -chris

    Hi,
Thanks for the responses. I requested another cert and that did not help. Here is the process I used after requesting another cert.
    1. Logged into www.thawte.com and requested a new cert.
    2. Using Firefox, retrieved the cert.
    3. In Firefox, backed up the cert to a pkcs12 file.
    4. Opened Keychain and deleted the first cert.
    5. Imported the pkcs12 backup file. Imported fine.
    6. Open Entourage, under tools, accounts, exchange profile, security, selected the cert Thawte Freemail Member.
    7. Checked all 3 options (sign, include cert, clear test signed.
    8. Created a test message from Entourage to .mac account address.
    9. Checked mail with Mac Mail and signature fails.
    10. Check with 1.02 Thunderbird and it comes back with valid digital signature.
Next, I sent a test email to my Exchange account from Entourage and that message verifies fine. It just seems to not work when I check my email with Mac Mail.
    Thanks!

  • Email Reconcile not working with mac mail and tiscali.

hi, I have had problems with emails not deleteing on either email accounts. I have had the local Carphone staff look at it, who have gone through the phone and applied the fixes you have suggested on your tech pages.
Please advise as this is becoming really frustrating deleting emails twice on laptop then on the phone!
    Regards

Hi and Welcome to the (user-to-user) Community!
    Please refer to this:
KB05133 Email reconciliation features for the BlackBerry Internet Service
All reconciliation is between your BB and your email server, as governed by that KB (coupled with being configured correctly). I don't know where "mac mail and tiscali" fit into that, but that KB governs what should or should not work.
On the other hand, if the issue is another email client (on your laptop, for instance), then that's governed by whatever the capabilities are between your laptop email client and your email server. Many cannot handle full reconciliation with the server, but you would have to contact whoever provided the email client to know for sure. There is zero reconciliation directly between your BB and your other email client.
Hope that helps! Good luck and let us know!

  • Problems with Apple Mail and Gmail

    Hiya
I'm keen to integrate my Gmail Account with Apple Mail via POP3, however having followed the instructions given by Google - it doesn't seem to work correctly?
I would appreciate if someone would kindly help me. I look forward to hearing from someone.
    Many thanks,

    Hi,
I want to setup gmail as the default email.I've tried almost everything..google notifier, don't like to have gmail inbox in my mac apps inbox ( I could do that successfuly ).I hate it actually that I have to use entourage to send photos first to my gmail and then forward to friends. There is nothing wrong with mac mail or entourage but I just love my gmail...help please!
Apple needs to fix two things to make their mail more popular ( infact the features are great especially with new iLife'08 ) : one , mac mail should be free like all major email services ( I'll be happy with 4GB free space rather than 10GB which they are offering now with subscription ) and second they should create userfriendly environment to use any email ids as default.
    Thx

  • Problem with Mavericks Mail and Exchange 2013

    Hello,
I have just updated to Mavericks a few days ago. Now I have a strange problem.
The setup with Exchange 2013 works fine ... so I can send&receive mails.
The problem: I only get new mails. All (few thausand) mails stored on the Exchange account are not synced to mail?!
Maybe anyone has an idea how to solve this ...
    Thanks,
    Marc

Some problems with Exchange mail have been solved by disabling Autodiscovery. If that doesn't work, see below.
Back up all data. Delete the Exchange account from the Internet Accounts preference pane and add it back. If there's still no improvement, continue.
Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A folder window will open. Inside it there should be files with names as follows:
    Envelope Index
    ExternalUpdates.storedata
Move those files to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have longer names that begin as above. Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • Problems with Yahoo Mail and Calendar on MacBook air.  Very slow performance.  Any ideas?

I have a macbook air running Apple's latest OS. My system is up-to-date.  Over the last few weeks, I have had a very difficult time accessing my yahoo mail and calendar.  I can access other sites, thus I know my connection is solid.  The problem seems to be limited to Yahoo.  I can access my yahoo account on my husband's PC without any issues.  To be specific, here are the symptoms of my problem.  When I try to open my yahoo mail on the Mac, I get the spinning wheel for several minutes.  I view my yahoo calendar through ical.  Yahoo is not connecting with ical, thus my calendar is empty.  I verified my settings and they are correct.  Also, sometimes after trying and retrying the calendar will connect.  I checked the web and did not find any info about this problem.  I appreciate your assistance.

I have been having the same issue. I can't figure it out. I have tried setting this up my yahoo calendar on my phone and my computer and my iPhone with no luck. It's definitely a Yahoo Problem. At this point I have become enemy to Yahoo Calendar.

  • Configuration problem with Mac Mail/ATT

Starting probably this morning, wireless on a PPC iMac was sluggish. Connections didn't finish. Connecting to an URL led to hanging connections.
Well, contacting ATT (my ISP), we discovered that all three of our Macs have the same problem. No problem sending and receiving email through the Ethernet, but wireless was sluggish. ATT said that, since we're dealing with a Mac Mail issue, it would be $14.99 for help on the configuration.
I don't know the new configuration, but I could change them - if I knew the settings. I'm hoping that someone has the information to save me some money. And if someone consults this discussion, they'll know the answer by looking at this thread.
Does anybody know about changes in email configurations over the past few days?

Nobody seemed to know the answer to this, so I had to look it up.
Seems that the DNS settings were incorrect for some reason. I applied OpenDNS to each of the computers in our house, and everything works fine now. I love OpenDNS.

  • Is there a problem with .mac mail?

I have been unable to access my .mac mail since earlier last evening using both the Mail application or via webmail. When attempting to check mail from the Mail application I get the password rejected prompt and re-enter my password. This does nothing other than re-prompt me to enter my password again.
I can log into .mac, but when I attempt to check mail I get:
    http://www.mac.com/wm/unavailable/
This page has been coming up for me all night and all morning. I have reset my password, still nothing.
I have tried using two different Macs, one i Book G4 running 10.3.9 and a iMac G4 using 10.4.6. I have tried using two different ISPs. No luck.
The dotmac support website claims nothing is wrong with the system. And yet, clearly something is amiss. Any ideas anyone?

Yes, this happened at home and my office. I have tried both Airport and direct ethernet connection at home and my connection at work is via ethernet. The work computer is running Tiger; the home computer is on Panther. The work computer connects through a university ISP; home computer via Road Runner (Time Warner cable). The work computer had not been touched in about a week before this morning and worked fine a week ago. All I have done on the home computer is download the most recent security update. I have had no problem with either computer at either location subsequent to last evening. So basically I had email access yesterday at approximately 2 PM then I cam home approximately 8 PM and have subsequently been unable to access mail from either computer since then. No settings were manually changed on either computer during that period, I didn't change anything about my connections to the internet on either computer, etc. My .mac account is paid through March of next year, so I can rule out the old forgot to pay the bill business. I am totally perplexed.

  • Problem with Mac Mail-iMap server on Hosting (Overloading Server)

Hello, I just created an account with HostGator for my business and we have 6 emails. We have imap email and our account allows us to check email once per minute per email. We have it set up to check every 5 minutes so this should not be a problem.
They then told us that there was a problem with it checking more frequently and also overloading the server by issueing 'multiple imap commands per email, 3 to 4'. I can view our server processes and sure enough each email is showing 4 imap commands. I unchecked 'use IDLE command" since I know IDLE command has something to do with it checking frequently for email.
Unfortunately we have 3 processes running on our website so once we had 24 for the 6 emails that goes over our limit of 25 and our website goes down. For now we have had to turn off most of our emails except 2 that we receive most email at which is causing major problems.
When we talked to HostGator that question was "Do you use Mac mail? Mac Mail is knowing for doing that". Since I only use Mac's I don't want to have to switch to Windows for email or use another email program like Entourage or Thunderbird. This is a frustrating issue and when I did research on Google I saw a lot of other people having this issue but didn't see any answers. Any ideas what is causing this and how I can fix it?

    Hi,
IMAP IDLE is not the problem - it is even good! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMAP_IDLE

  • Problems with Apple Mail and SSL SMTP

All of a sudden I'm having trouble sending mail through SMTP when using SSL on port 465.
No other mail clients (Outlook, Thunderbird, Entourage) have the problem.
    It was working then quit.
I'm scratching my head. Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Rob

Try using a different use account on your computer. If that works, then you know it is a problem with some config files. If so, then move /Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist to your Desktop. Restart mail and put in settings. Ideally, it should then work. Good luck!

  • Problem with mac mail / keychain password

Hi there, I have several email accounts on mac mail when I open them three of them regularly ask me to input my keychain password, I do this and tick the box that says remember password but it still keeps happening. Ive dont the keychain repair to no avail and also followed apples advice with regards to making sure that there is no time limit for logging me out of the keychain / passwords. From what I can read on google this seems to be a fairly common problem it only seems to be happening on accounts that ive set up recently through POP 3 account mail easy and suggestions please. Many thanks

Use Keychain Access to delete the program password sites and then do the server connection again. This should save a new password entry in your Keychain and hopefully solve your problem.

  • Undisclosed recipient problem with mac mail

I'm sorry if this isn't the right community for this but I can't identify in the list where to post it.
I'm using mac mail on my Mac Mini 2014 but have a problem because whenever I receive a message the header shows my (correct) email address but when I open the message it comes up as Undisclosed recipient, even though I know it was sent just to me. It happens even if I send a message to myself. There appears to be a problem with the settings somewhere in mac mail. Can anyone help please?

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
A folder window will open. Inside it there should be files with names as follows:
              Envelope Index
              ExternalUpdates.storedata
Move those files to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have longer names that begin as above. Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK. Typically, the process takes a few minutes, but it may take hours if you have gigantic mailboxes. In that case, you may be able to speed things up by temporarily adding your home folder to the Privacy list in the Spotlight preference pane. Remove it when Mail has finished importing.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • Is there a known issue with Mac Mail and adding Yahoo! email accounts?

My Mac Mail application already as one account it in - my iCloud account.  It works just fine.  Every time I add a second account - Yahoo! (automatic setup), the account is created fine with all fields populate correctly, but after a few seconds the account and all it's contents disappears.  Just as if I had manually deleted it myself.  I did many tests, and sometimes the account stays, and sometimes it disappears.  I'm not accidentally hitting a '-' or 'remove' or 'erase' or 'delete' buttons.
    Mail Version 7.3 (1878.2)

Check Console.app (Applications > Utilities) for any mail-related errors getting logged, when the newly-added account vaporizes.
Try configuring the Yahoo! connection manually; set the smtp and pop settings explicitly?
Yahoo is also reporting some connectivity outages today, due to a cable cut.  That's probably not related to this, but it might cause problems.
FWIW, OS X 10.9.4 has Mail.app Version 7.3 (1878.6).  Might see if that upgrade helps here, too.
If Mail.app is crashing, try configuring Mail.app in a completely separate (new) login — see if there's something in the saved mail preferences that's corrupted.
