Problem with Macbook pro and Airport Express!!!

I'm having the same problem I have seen others with right now with my macbook pro and my airport express. I have set up and reconfigured the A.Express 3 times now. I have the green light, i have the Ethernet configured, I have full bars of reception but I cannot access the signal. meaning I can not go online even though everything is set up correctly and says that it's good to go. Anybody have any advice?
Is it an issue with having to re access the network I created with the Airport utility?
It worked the first time I configured the A. Express with my macbook pro no problem. Then suddenly my computer was just not getting internet. Even though all the settings were ok and I was even getting full bars reception from the device on my comp. So I reset the A.Express and have been having the problem mentioned above since that point. Please help me if you have any advice. Thanks so much in advance.

I had the same problem, and to test if I was connected launched Safari and Safari after a few seconds of not connecting, it shows you a dialog box, with options to follow up, I follow the dialog box and like magic I am connected to the Internet.

You need to inquire from your ISP which modems are compatible with their netwrok. They should give you a list.

  • Having trouble making the macbook pro and airport express hok up

I have a macbook pro and the airport express hooked to a stereo. I need to connect the two together. I also have a lynksis wireless router that can not be hard wired to the airport express. Will this work because I am unable to make it work....
Do I need the express unit instead of the lynksis

Just checked that as well, it's set as a wireless N network that is B/G compatible... So it's got to be something else. Thanks for the suggestion though!

  • MacBook Pro and Airport Express = Problem?

Seem to be having problems when I boot my Macbook it doesn't connect to my airport Express. I have checked my windows laptop and have no issues at all. Also when my macbook goes to sleep sometimes it doesn't connect back up I have to select the SSID and connect up again.
Tried the usual things changes ssid - channel and so on, I am currently using WEP 128 otptions 802.11g.

    Hi,
    Try:
1.) System Preferences->Network->Network Port Configurations- Drag Airport to the top of the list, and uncheck ports you don't need.
2.) System Preferences-Network-Airport and select join Automatic.
    This should solve your problem.

  • MacBook Pro and Airport Express Aren't Getting Along

So this is a little crazy. My Macbook Pro cannot access the internet via my Airport Express [which I'm using to create a network]. All the other wireless devices in my house (iPhone, PS3, etc) are having no problem accessing the internet via the express. And my MacBook Pro can access the internet no problem when I'm connected to other networks...
My PS3 is getting downloads of about 11.5MBPS from the express, and my iPhone is getting about 6.8MBPS. Though my MacBook is connected to the network, it's getting little to no internet (best I've gotten is .07MBPS, so it's basically nothing).
Please help. I've tried EVERYTHING (PRAM reset, SMC reset, even bought a new Airport Express).
    Thanks!

  • Printing problems with macbook pro and canon 4150

I have a Macbook Pro running 10.6.8.  I also have a Canon imageclass MF4150 printer.  I downloaded from the canon website the driver Mac-UFR II Printer Driver V2.25.  When I try to print, I get an error message.
Can anyone suggest a generic printer driver that would work?
Thanks in advance for the help.

I have a NetGear WGR614 that has worked without issue for a macmini, my MBP and direct-wired PCs and Linux towers.  It only has issues when ATT DSL causes connectivity issues what require them fixing things in their connection centers.
WGR614 is a few years old, but they still sell it.
I was warned years ago against DLink.
LinkSys was recommended almost as more reliable then NetGear.
But then Airport Express is an Apple product and Apple has direct links to set them up from your Mac.

  • MacBook Pro and Airport Express

I want to use airport express unit to enable all computers to print on my Brother Hl5140 Laser printer but I cant get the Airport Express unit to register on any of the computers!
I have tried using the asistant by the AP express unit doesn't appear.
    Where am I going wrong!

You want to set up the AX in Client Mode...
To set up the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) in "Client Modet," using the AirPort Admin Utility, connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then, try these settings:
    AirPort tab
    - Base Station Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
    - Wireless Mode: Join an Existing Wireless Network (Wireless Client)
    - Wireless Network: <type in your Netgear wireless network name or select it from the pop-up menu>
    - Wireless Security: Not enabled
OR, if you are using security on your wireless network:
    Security Options
    Change Wireless Security
    - Wireless Security: <Select the appropriate level of security for your wireless network: 40-bit WEP|128-bit WEP | WPA Personal | WPA Enterprise>
    - Password: <enter your wireless network security password or key>
    Music tab (optional)
    - Enable AirTunes on this base station (checked)
    - iTunes Speaker Name: <enter name of speaker for iTunes remote speaker list>
I suggest you try, temporarily, removing wireless encryption, to verify that you can connect the AX to the Netgear. Once working, you can add it back.

  • Firestore Importing Problems with MacBook Pro and FCP

    Hello,
I've encountered a problem trying to import my P2 files from my brand new Firestore and for some reason my trusty MacBook Pro doesn't acknowledge their existence. Here's my process so far:
1.) I captured the footage in P2 mode at 720/24P
2.) I initially just tried to plug the Firestore into the computer.
3.) Then I saw that I had to set it up into DD Drive mode. I did this before running the "Organize P2" utility.
4.) When I opened the Firestore's icon on the desktop I saw only the ten reel folders (numbered 0-9) and the log folder. None of these folders had any clips inside them.
5.) After checking the manual again I hit the "organize P2" utility. This did not make any files show up.
6.) I tried "Import Panasonic P2" inside of FCP, but it doesn't see the files either.
7.) The only encouraging factor is that I CAN playback the files on my HVX200 from the device.
BUT HOW CAN I GET THEM INTO FINAL CUT PRO!?!?!?!?!
    Thank you so much,
    Stef

With MacBook pro and airport extreme router, how can I print wirelessly to an old HP wireless photosmart all in one printer?  What is needed or what process?

You need to make sure that the HP has an updated printer driver that works with 10.6 for that printer. You can check here:

You will need to install an App like Print Central on the iPad to try to print to the printer. It will allow you to print to most printers. Check with their support folks if you need more info.

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
This, Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.70, is the current version of Flash. It should work with Snow Leopard or later.

  • Can't get Canon MP620 to work wirelessly with MacBook Pro or AirPort

I bought a Canon MP620 printer at the Apple Store. I specifically asked if it would work wirelessly with my MacBook Pro or AirPort Express since I read comments to the contrary on here. I was assured it would work without a problem and I wouldn't need to upgrade to AirPort Extreme. My Mac is not able to find my printer. Does anyone have any suggestions? I did all of the troubleshooting and nothing works. I have another printer plugged into my AirPort Express so I can't plug this one in (was told at Apple Store that I wouldn't need to).

    Hi magcat72,
As BDAqua has mentioned already, you need to configure the wireless network settings first. This is done by connecting the Mac directly to the printer via USB. But before you do this, stick the MP620 CD into your Mac and install the drivers and the Canon IJ Network utility. Once these have been added to the Mac, you can then connect the 620 to the Mac. This should automatically add the printer to your printer list (in Print & Fax). If it doesn't, then you can add the printer manually, by clicking the + and using the Default view.
Once you have the printer queue installed, you can open the queue and click the Utility icon. This will display the MP620 connected via USB. Select it and then click the Network button. This will now guide you through connecting the MP620 to your wireless network.
Once you have completed the network configuration for the printer, you can turn it off and unplug the USB cable from your Mac. You can then move the printer to where you want it to reside and turn it back on again.
Now you need to add the network printer queue, as the previous queue was for direct USB. In fact, to save you selecting the wrong printer, delete the current MP620 from your list by using the - (minus) button.
To add the network printer queue, select to Add a printer and then select More Printers. In the top menu you should see Canon IJ Network. Select this and after a short while the printer should appear with its MAC address (a series of numbers and letters separated by colons) in the lower pane. Select the 620 and click Add.
Now you should be ready to print. If any of the above doesn't work for you then please reply.

  • Macbook pro and airport extreme don't work

A friend (and all those tv commercials) say everything just works with Macs. Well, not exactly. New Macbook Pro and Airport Extreme can't connect me to the internet. I still have PC connected via ethernet cable to my cable modem and router which is in the basement where the cable enters the house. I've tried the different options in Airport Extreme setup and nothing works. It doesn't help Apple assumes I know everything about DHP PPPOE NAT or whatever all those silly things are.
Can anyone explain in +very simple+ terms how I get this expensive piece of aluminum connected to the internet?
    Thanks.

Hello sofarapplesux. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
I assume that you will continue to use the modem and router in the basement to get your Internet access ... correct? What is the make/model of this router?
If that's the case, I will also assume that you have the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) connected by Ethernet to this router ... correct?
So your overall network configuration should look something like the following:
Cable modem > (Ethernet cable) > \[Internet port] router \[LAN port] > (Ethernet cable) > \[WAN port] AEBSn ... close?
