Problem with Mini DVI to DVI adapter

Hello friends Im trying to make my Mini DVI to DVI Adapter working with a projector but it appears that it's not working. It's seems a drivers issue because I've tried with one to Mini DVI to VGA adapter with the same computer and projector and it works fine. Is there any drivers to this device?? Thank you in advance

You have the wrong adapter. The one you have is single-link DVI, which does not support 30" displays. You need the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter:

  • Resolution problem with Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter

    Hi,
I have a unibody MBP 15', running on 10.5.8. I use 'Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter' (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB570Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDA5OQ&mco=Nzk2MDk5OQ) to connect to my external HP LP3065 30' monitor. I get max resolution of 1280 x 800 for external monitor which supports resolution of 2560 by 1600.
This monitor used to work fine with old MBPs, but not with my unibody MBP. What could be the problem? Adapter or MBP?
    I am missing high resolutions
    Thanks in advance!

  • Problem with Mini DisplyPort to VGA adapter

I recently got a new Mac Pro quad core and hooked it up to my existing Cinema Display (primary) and Sony VGA monitor (secondary). The cinema display is connected to the DVI port and the Sony is connected to the mini displayport with a mini displayport to VGA adapter.
It all works great until the computer goes to sleep. When I wake it from sleep the cinema display is fine, but the second monitor won't come back up unless I unplug it from the mini displayport and reconnect.
Any ideas how I can fix this?

You are using an ACTIVE (powered conversion from Mini DisplayPort, and are having trouble with it.
Your card generates VGA directly, at the proper Voltage levels, and it may be more reliable that the method you are using now.
The VGA signals are on the bar at the end and one pin from the top row of the grid. I suggest you buy a DVI-to-VGA adapter and use it instead of the converter you are using now.

  • Problems with Mini DVI to S-Video/RCA adapter

    Hello
I've got a mac mini and I want to pass its image to a television (note: this television doesn't have HDMI)
I've bought the Mini DVI to S-Video/RCA adapter, but when I connect it to my TV nothing appers (except some gray lines, which means the signal is reaching the TV, but no image)
    Thanks

That connector may not be compatible with an Intel Core 2 Duo Mac Mini like yours.

  • Problem with mini displayport and mini DVI

    Hi,
My mac mini is connected with the mini-Dvi to my monitor. It works great.
I would like to connect my mac mini to my TV too.
I bought 2 adpaters : mini displayport to dvi and mini-Dvi to Video. It does not work. The two screens are black ...
First i would like to switch the connection : instead of connected my monitor with the mini-DVI port, i would like to connect my monitor with the mini Displayport. I changed the connection but it did not work : the screen is black so i can't do anything ...
After that i will connect the mini-DVI to my tv ...
    Help me please

At least two possibilities come to mind. One would be that the adapter you have is bad. Another is that the mini is starting into a resolution not compatible with the monitor. If the problem is the second one, then you can try starting the mini in Safe mode to see if that results in a useable screen. If it does, then set the resolution to the desired resolution and restart normally. The last selection made should persist through normal restart.

  • Macbook pro(2008 later) can not recognise external monitor(NEC UXI2090) with mini-DP to DVI adapter with 9600GT

I bought mini-DP to DVI frome Apple several monthes ago and it worked well in that time until yesterday the external monitor show me no signal sign. Other PCs were connected with the same cable and monitor and they are fine. I am wondering there is something wrong in the adaptor or macbook pro. Furthermore I found the external monitor can display nornally when I switched to 9400 graphic card and used mini-DP to VGA adapter. If I switch to 9600GT no signal again. If I switch 9400 using mini-DVI, it is shown on the external screening: Out of range... In a word, In the mode of 9600GT, mac can not recognise external monitor(I can not detect it in the systerm preference even I press detect display buttun) and 9400 works in VGA mode. However when I connect adapter to mac, the screen showed blue flash.
I reseted SMC, no use; I created a new account or enter mac to safe mode, no use; so far I did not reseted PRAM beacuse of something wrong of my system. I am downlaoding Mountain Lion OS and will install it. Then I will reset PRAM and try again.
I do not know whether I shoud change the adapter or the single-link DVI cable to dual-link. Someone said it is useful in their condition. I tried some methods from BBS, such as connected when devices were off and then open, and so on. I failed.
    Any suggestion for this problem?
    Addition: OS: 10.7.4(Lion)

I turns out that the logic board of my MacBook Pro was faulty (despite being brand new).
I took it to the Apple Store, presented the problem, and one of the Tech's came to the same conclusion that I had -- hardware failure.  Phone support was no help in the matter (and even told me that what I was trying to do wasn't a supported option, which is rediculous).  However, the Genius Bar did take care of the problem, and my MacBook Pro was back to me with a replaced logic board within a few days.
    Hope that htis helps.

  • Having a problem with mini dvi to hdmi.  Can see the background, but must move all screens all the way to the right to see on tv.  Any solutions?

I'm having an issue with setting up mini dvi to hdmi.  I can connect and see the background picture from my macbook (approx 4 years old) but in order to see any screens or video, I have to move the screen almost all the way off the macbook display to the right.  Any ideas why this would happen?  Also, there is no audio, although when I bought the adapter and cable at the Mac store, they assured me it would handle both.

You have the display set in Extended Desktop mode. In System Preferences>Displays on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the TV and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will makethe second monitor your main screen. You can now use your MacBook in ClamshellMode with a wired or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131 When you disconnect from the TV your Menu Bar will automatically change back to the MacBook.
Or if you want to work on the MacBook screen while showing it on a TV you can check the Mirror Display box on the lower left hand side of the Arrangement tab under the two monitors box.
No Mini-DVI adapter can carry audio. The only MacBook that sends audio is the Mid 2010 model 7,1 through a Mini DisplayPort.
If you connect the MacBook using a Mini-DVI to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo system for audio if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs for audio with the HDMI plug. The Mini-DVI to HDMI doesn't carry audio and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI.

  • Problem with Mini DV to Video Adaptor on MacBook White (early 2009 version)

Hello, i realise for some odd reason that the above mentioned adaptor is not designed (anymore) to work with the update macbook white. The only two adaptors left which do work are the mini DV to DVI and mini DV to VGA.
So my question is the following, how do I plug my MacBook white into my TV, knowing that the only input I have (old but still very good TV thxs) on my TV is an S-Video or a composite input?
I cannot seem to find any adaptors or converters anywhere but i'm not quite ready yet to buy a new tv.
    Thxs,

    You're welcome, pweester.
    And thanks for the star.
... whats so different to using s-video or composite which justifies blocking it??
Your question is answered here in my original response:

by user Ziatron, Apple's latest MacBooks cannot output directly to analog TV due to some kind of digital copy protection that is built into these new Macs. That is why the older adapters do not work.
New legalities of digital copy protection seem to demand that newly designed Macs prevent protected programming from playback other than on devices that meet the new legal requirements. Your "old tv which uses s-video or composite input" apparently does not meets the new requirements and, therefore, is not supported.
... RW-DVD ... burn ... to watch and stick it into my PS then.
That can certainly work for programing that is not covered by digital copy protection prohibitions. However, you may need counsel regarding whether this approach is legal for media or AV products with digital copy protection restrictions.
I honestly hope they will go back on this decision ...
(Click this link if you want to see)->Paragraph 2.1.2 of Apple Discussions' Use Agreementsprevents us from discussing this matter here.
Rather than posting here in this user discussion forum, you can use (Click this link if you want to see)->MacBook Feedback to send comments or suggestions directly to Apple. You will not get an answer, but you can be certain that Apple will see your input for consideration in future products.
    ... this really upset me.
You bought the latest white MacBook, and, as a result, enjoy the benefits of all the improvements available only in the current version of the MacBook. The information about which adapters could work with your new MacBook was available at the time of your decision.
However, depending upon how upset you are, how recent your MacBook purchase, and which features are most important to you, perhaps your retailer will allow you to exchange or trade-in your new white MacBook for a different Mac that can still use the adapter you want.
... my old pc could connect without a worry in the world....
Not being covered by the current digital copy protection requirements, not only older PCs, but older Macs could, too.

  • Problem with Nokia 5700's audio adapter

I have recently updated my Nokia 5700's firmware with the newest version. But now I can't use my audio adapter(this thing: http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/7485/adapteryb4.jpg ) which is connected with the headphones. While I listened to music, I tried to press any of the music control buttons but they didn't work. I am sure it is not broken and the problem is from the firmware, because the adapter was perfectly working before the update. Does anyone have a solution?
    Thanks!

it's not bacause of the update you did. it's the damned thing itself. Main died several mounts ago. There's a problem with the battery inside the remote control. NOKIA you give all customers new ones through care centers.

  • Router Console Connect Problem With Mini Usb (1941 Series - Os Win7 64Bit) (SOLVED)

I can not connect console with mini usb, my router is cisco 1941 series and my os win7 x64 help me please ?
    My problem was solved thanks to this topic;
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/11492306/usb-console-driver-install-failing#comment-9697916

    Hi,
Here is how I have managed to enable the communication with the 1941 using the usb A-B cable:
Download the usb console driver 3.1
Install the x64 version on your PC (as administrator)
    After the installation was completed:
Open the Device Manager. There will be a new entry named “CiscoUsbConsoleWindowsDrive”. Expand it and select the “Cisco USB to Serial adaptor”.
From the drop-down select “Update Driver Software…
In the “Update Drive Software” dialog select “Browse my computer for driver software”
In the next window, a driver location should be displayed, if not browse your PC and find the …\Windows_64 folder where you have extracted the 3.1 driver.
After the driver software was updated, there should be a new entry in the “Ports (COM &LPT)” named “Cisco Serial (COMx)”.
You can configure the port here:
    Right click on the “Cisco Serial (COMx)” and select “properties” and set the properties to this;
    Bits per second :9600
    Data bits              :8
    Parity                    :None
    Stop bits              :1
    Flow control       :None
The new COM port should be ready to accept the connection with the router.
I am using Tera Terms VT, and it is working well with the above driver and settings.
Should you wont to use the Cisco Configuration Professional (CCP) download the 2.7 version and make shore you have the current Adobe Flush and a current Java installed on you PC.
    Hope this will help.

  • Audio/Firewire Problems with Mini, Please Help!

I just bought a brand new Mini from Amazon.com and am having some problems. First, when I plug computer speakers into the mini, the sound continues to come from the internal speaker and the mini ignores the speakers. In System Preferences, it doesn't even recognize that something is plugged into the machine.
Second, the Mini does not recognize my external, Firewire iSight camera. In System Profiler, it does not show anything connected to the port when the camera is connected.
The Mini is the latest rev running 10.4.11. Leopard upgrade disks should be in the mail soon.
Any ideas as to what is wrong? Should I just return to Amazon for a replacement? Thanks for your help!

Having just posted in a similar situation, pardon the cut and paste, but these are the first two (and easiest) things to try:
First reset parameter RAM - it's an area of non-volatile memory used for system settings and hardware configuration. It it gets corrupted, it can cause odd problems.
    Reset PRAM
    -Shut down the computer.
-Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in the next step but one.
    -Turn on the computer.
-Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
-Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    -Release the keys.
Next, perform an SMC reset. The SMC is the device which controls system hardware and devices, so if there is a problem with hardware components not functioning, it could be that.
To reset the SMC on an Intel mini:
-From the Apple menu, choose Shut Down (or if the computer is not responding, hold the power button until it turns off).
-Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord and any display cables.
    -Wait at least 15 seconds.
-Plug the power cord back in, making sure the power button is not being pressed at the time.
-Then reconnect your keyboard and mouse to the computer.
-Press the power button on the back to start up your computer.
