Problem with moving itunes to new computer

I recently bought a new computer and when i downloaded Itunes some of my songs did not come through complete. About 50 songs in my library will randomly stop playing in the middle of the song and move on to the next song. I downloaded the latest version of itunes.  When I go to my library and play a defective song if i force it to fast forward it will play the remaining part of the song so the music is there. So far the only solution to my problems is an expensive one. only thing I can think of to do is delete the affected songs and pay to redownload them. Is there another way to resolve this issue? When I first noticed the problem itunes did let me redownload 3 songs for free then when I went to do it again ( because I have alot a music and haven't discovered ALL the defective songs yet. I cant find them till they play and I notice it) but when I went to redownload song I already paid for they wanted to charge me again.

Thanks for your advice.
Unfortunately it did not solve the problem.
I’m now convinced that my problem is related to the Intel Viiv Technology.
In an article at tweakdown.com, http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/937/index.html , they proclaim that if you have a computer with Intel Viiv Technology "you’re locked out of iTunes".

  • Help with moving itunes to new computer

I bought a new computer and tried to transfer itunes.
My old computer had insufficient space on the c drive to transfer using an external drive (the apple instrutions seem to require all data is collated in a subfolder).
    I used home sharing instead.
This seemed to work and when I plugged in my iphone to the new computer photos etc were transferred from my phone ot my new computer.
However, when I try and sync, it simply says step 1 of 1 (not 1 of 4) starting to sync and then stops.
Any ideas on how I get the sync to work?
    Thanks

  • Playlists not showing up after moving itunes to new computer

moved itunes to new computer and used an externa;l harddrive to move "iTunes" folder over.  the most recent "setup" of itunes on old computer is not showing on new computer.  For example "music" file size on external drive is 133GB - on new computer itunes, only 33GB.  and, playlists have disapeared.  any ideas?

See Make a split library portable for some background on moving the library successfully. You need the main iTunes library.itl file, its supporting files and the Album Artwork folder as well.
If you can find that data it should be possible to put everything together in the right shape and make it work.
Otherwise I have two scripts called ImportDevicePlaylists and SyncStats which may prove useful.

  • Problems with Apple ID when moving ITunes to new computer

I am transferring my music to a new computer. When I first started using Itunes I had an account ID '*@aol.com'. Now my Apple ID is '*@comcast.net'. After importing my music to the new computer, any song that was imported to the library when I had the aol ID pops up a message that the computer needs to be authorized. I follow the procedure to authorize the computer, it completes successfully and says that 1 out of 5 computers is authorized but when I try to play the song again, the same authorization window appears. It appears that Itunes stores information pertaining to the Apple ID attached to each song in the library.
Anyone have any ideas??? Is there a way to fix this ID issue?

  • Moving iTunes to new computer..but with content from CD's

My wife has copied over 100 cd's onto iTunes many years ago.  On her old computer they were all there, and also on her iphone.
I have moved folders, opens specific folders by holding the shift key etc, but nothing shows the copied cd's.
I still have the original HD..but thats it.
Is there a way to bring them over from her iphone?  wife says that wont work which sounds irrational.

  • Moving iTunes to new computer, whilst maintaining old computer settings

    Hi
I am wanting to move iTune to my new computer. I have read various topics on how to move, but the problem is that the old computer belongs to my daughter who like to take it to her new flat. The whole family have iPads and although we would like to have all the playlists and tunes on the new computer, my daughter would like the playlsts and tunes on the old compter for her use, as well.
Is there anyone who can help?
    Thanks
    Barnboy1952

First make sure your music files are all together in the iTunes Music folder on the old PC.
Consolidate your library if they are not.
Install iTunes on the new computer. Before adding any music, drag the iTunes folder out of Music to the desktop.
COPY the iTunes folder from the old PC into Music on the new PC so it replaces the one you dragged out.
Adjust the permissions on the iTunes folder so your account has full control.
The copy can be done either with a network connection or via an external drive.
If you have libraries on different accounts, you will need to repeat the process for each account assuming each account has a separate iTunes Music folder and has a default configuration.

  • Help moving iTunes to new computer

My old computer died, but I was able to get the hard drive to work as an external. I have the library.itl and library.xml files on this external hard drive.
What I've done so far. Put all the music in the iTunes music folder on the new computer. iTunes does not see these files. Then I replaced the xml file on the new computer with the one from the old computer and did a replace all correcting the location of the music folder. Then I deleted the library.itl file (I found this suggestion somewhere) and restarted iTunes. Nothing happens. Am I missing an important step?
I really don't want to lose my playlist/rating data. I have 48 GB of music that was organized nicely when my old computer bit it.
An anybody help me with this?
    Thanks in advance.

This might not be the right answer but.... If you can see the files on the old hard drive. Have you tried to make a back up disc(s) of the iTunes files? I had a B-Tree error and lost all my iTunes files that I had not backed up in four months. I went to the local Apple Store in Norfolk VA and the bastards there would not even look at my external hard drive. I ended up going to Best Buy and they helped me...... some.
As far as moving to a new Apple Computer, I've always connected the two computers via a firewire cable and started the one in the Terminal mode.Everything moved from the one to the other.
Good Luck! Hope you can get some help soon.

  • Help with moving music to new computer

I have run into a problem while following the iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer support artical.  I believe I followed the instructions using my iPod as an external hard drive but when I finally went back to iTunes, the songs are listed, but they do not open.  Instead, I get a pop up that says, "The song "xyz" could not be used because the original file could not be found.  Would you like to locate it?"  This is the case for about 500 songs that were previously on my old computer in iTunes
I have a new window's 8 computer and had just downloaded iTunes onto it.  I was so worried about losing my songs that I specifically looked for help on how to seamlessly accomplish this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you

Thanks!  I did it again using my iPod again.  (I couldn't find an external drive large enough)
What am I supposed to do with the iTunes folder that is now on my desktop from the step below:
    Copy music to new computer
To copy all your music files (including the library file that holds all your playlists and other settings) to your new computer:
Locate your Music folder (Mac OS X) or your My Music folder (Windows) on your new computer:
    Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music
    Windows: \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\
Drag the iTunes folder in this location out to the desktop.
    Can I just delete that?

  • Moving iTunes to new computer, using external HD, not seeing library in iTunes

    Hi all,
I got a new laptop running Windows 7.  I followed Apple's directions for how to move iTunes to a new computer using an external hard drive.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
All looks good until Part 5, Step 6 where it says "Open iTunes.  You've now moved all your music, playlists, and other information like play counts and ratings from your old computer to your new one."  Now, I can go into my music folder on the new laptop, click on iTunes, then on the music folder and all my music is there.  But when I open iTunes, none of the music is evident in the library.
Hoping this is simple user error!  Thanks, all.
    Lisa

Ideally you should copy the complete iTunes library structure - typically located at C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes - from the old computer to the new one.  It should look like this:
Assuming that your music and other media files are all contained within the iTunes Media folder and its subfolders you can move this iTunes folder and all its content from your old system to the corresponding location on the new one (i.e., place it in C:\Users\username\Music). If you've already installed and run iTunes on the new system, overwrite the files and folders already created in that location - this assumes that you've not added any content on the new system, i.e., you are just migrating your library from the old system to the new one, not merging different libraries on the two).
Then, just to be sure you are picking up the right library information, hold down the Shift key while starting iTunes on the new system.  You'll get this prompt:
Click Choose Library.. then navigate to and select the iTunes Library.itl file within the folders you just copied across.  Click OK - you're complete library - media, artwork, playlists, etc. - should now be available on the new system.
One further benefit of this approach - because you have replicated the library in full any iDevices will see this as "the same" library as you had on the old system, and sync operations will continue to work without getting a message about your iPod / iPhone being erased.  You should also make sure that you create and maintain a backup of your library (the full folder structure as illustrated above) as a safeguard against any future cause of data loss.

  • Still having problems with loading cs6 onto new computer. adobe won't contact me?

I have posted this before and I did what was suggested, but have not had any luck with adobe support.
Problem: Mac laptop died. I have cs3 and upgrade to cs6 on the laptop, backed up to external hard drive. i'm trying to install now onto my new computer, but can't load it from the external hard drive, so downloaded cs6 upgrade from adobe from my products. i know i purchased and downloaded cs3 from adobe website, but it doesn't show up on my page. so when i download cs6 and it asks for my serial number, i put it in, but then it won't unlock the software because it's not detecting any other software (cs3) on my new computer. i was told that i had to contact adobe tech support, which i have done multiple times, but have not gotten any response back.
    any suggestions?

    Oh that's awesome!
Yeah, I have done similar things, that's why it came to mind lol
You're welcome, even though I wasn't a whole lot of help on this issue...
Have a great evening and feel free to return to the forums if you need any other assistance.

  • Problems With Transferring To A New Computer...PLEASE READ

I recently had problems with my Powerbook G4 and called Apple about it. Long story short, I had to erase and install Mac OSX thus erasing everything from my hard drive. I have around 2,000 songs and 1,300 pictures on my iPod that I need on my computer. Is there any way of doing this?

Sorry I can't help with photos however there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve song files from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. I use Senuti but check the others out particularly if you need to move videos for which you' d need iPod Copy.

  • Moving iTunes to new computer question

I am moving my iTunes to my new computer following the steps outlined in the article dated June 3, 2009 titled "How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer". I am fine until I get to the point where I am moving the iTunes folder from my old computer to the iPod. I drag the folder from my computer to my iPod and i get the prompt that states "This folder already contains a folder named iTunes". How do I proceed. Do I choose yes, yes to all, no or cancel. Thank you.

I don't quite understand how you already have an iTunes folder on your iPod unless you used it to move a previous library. If you look at your iPod in Explorer you should only see Calendars, Contacts and Notes (and only if you have Windows enabled to view hidden files, would you see other folders such as iPod_Control). The process as you say should be to copy the iTunes folder from the old PC onto the iPod and then from the iPod to the new PC. As I've said, there should be no iTunes folder on the iPod unless you put one there.

  • Moving iTunes to new computer

I'm setting up a new XP Pro laptop for the boss, and need to know how to move all his iTunes settings from his old XP Pro laptop so he doesn't lose any of the song or album lists he has set up at present. Also, are there settings to selectively sync the iPod, so it doesn't erase something you may have inadvertently deleted from iTunes on the pc?
    Thanks
