Problem with MSI z87-g45 and gigabyte GTX 770

Hello, I just built my new computer useing a Z87-G45 gaming motherboard and a Gigabyte GTX 770 graphic card, reason Im making this post is because I cant get a any video on the monitor useing the Graphic card, only way to get the monitor working is to use the Integraded graphic, I've tried all ports on the Graphic card same problem, i've switched monitor no succes.
Weird thing is, Inside BIOS when Im looking on the overview of the board it tells me that I dont have anything connected in the PCI-E slots, I've tried to switch PCI-E slots and same issue appears.
How do I fix this? or cant my graphic card be DOA? since my old one works in the PCI-E slots as normally

Update the bios to the most recent found here: >>BIOSes<<
Extract the bios file and place it on a fat 32 formatted usb stick and use M-flash w/ ME.
Then re-test.

MSI Z87-G45,
i5 4670k
2x8 GB ddr3 Patriot Viper 3 1600MHz CL9
Radeon HD 6870
PSU Corsair 550W
HDD SATA WD 500GB
SSD Corsair Force 3 128 GB
Windows 7 64bit
...and i have BSOD all time... At first I thought that the problem is SSD, but yesterday unplugget him and put normal HDD. And still got bluescreens. I updated BIOS to version 1.4, restored default settings and I tried to manually set the memory and enable/disable XMP profile. Memtest86 passed without problems. I changed SATA ports and dunno what more to do. Help please.

Ouch, I just rechecked your screenshot. That XMP profile calls for a CR of 3T. Your setting is 1T. That is one probable cause as per the error explanation above.
I would consider an alternative kit as 3T essentially points to a lesser quality memory chip on those modules. You can of course attempt to manually set your CR to 2T or 3T and see if it works for you.

Problems with MSI K8N-Neo3 and Command Queing.

I had some problems with two computers, based on the MSI K8N-Neo3 mainboard - they wouldn't boot into Windows after installing the drivers for the graphiccards. Before the breakdown of the forum, some people suggested that I was using to small PSUs. In the meantime I've solved the problem, by disabling the Command Queing feature in the drivers. Seems there may be a problem with the MSI board, and Maxtor SATA drives with Command Queing.

1 GB Kingston PC3200 DDR-SDRAM
MSI GeForce 6600GT or MSI GeForce 6600LE graphics

Problem with MSI 865P Neo and G4 Winfast

Hi all,
I bought the mainboard MSI 865P Neo. Have put it into G4 Winfast A280 LE TDH my vivo. And the problem appeared.
When I doing whatever in Win (for example open explorer, mouse rightclick ...) the screen is simply runing over.
Seems like a video card doesn`t handle it or Screen (monitor) is poor but it`s not. The same problem appears also while Windows is installed.
Little note I want to add is my G4 has new Bios setup and on my second card Leadtek G2 MX everything`s ok. It seems for conflict between the mainboard and my v-card. Have you met similar problem ?

On my old mainboard - ABIT ST6R (with G4) everything was ok. I changed mainboard, RAM and P4 and problem has appeared.
MSI supports AGP 8x/4x at 0.8V (AGP 3.0) or 4x at 1.5V (3.3V not supported)
If G4 needs 3.3V (I can't find G4 how much needs) that problem is obvious. I must change mainboard.
Anyone knows how much G4 poverage needs?

No boot no bip no screen with MSI Z87 G45

My system was working perfectly until i chose to give the BIOS a look, and i tried loading the optimised defaults (F6). I rebooted the computer but nothing happened. The fans all work normaly, the mainboard seems to power up as usual, but nothing else, it just stays that way with no beep or screen detection, or reboot.
I tried clearing the CMOS by all possible ways (button or battery), with no success just a black screen. Can the optimised defaults break the mainboard ? Can i try to flash another bios with a usb key ? and if so how can i do it as i have no screen at all.

I experienced similar symptoms after trying to update the bios from v1.50 to v1.60 using the LiveUpdate method (NEVER DO THIS! USE MSI-HQ-Forum tool for USB flash!).
I tried every possible combination of configurations (through videocard vs on-board video, 1 vs 2 sticks of ram, all SATA-devices unplugged vs selectively plugged in, mobo in and outside the case,etc etc etc) and every solution I could think of (cmos clear with button, battery, jumper shortcircuiting, holding power button for a prolonged period of time to clear all left-over power, USB-stick with bios on it, MSI-USB flash program method, etc).
All with no luck, the board stayed locked in a boot loop. It powered up the fans, but never made it to POST. After +/- 30 seconds it would reboot.
So I decided to RMA, and my advice to you is to do the same.
Somehow, it might be a pci/peg configuration error, where a bios flash or in your case, a settings change to optimal, confuses the board after which it stops putting through video. I suspect this is the culprit because it seemed like the board was still functioning in a way. When I tried the USB-stick method, the LED light on the stick would blink indicating a read/write procedure. But, of course this is merely speculation.

Secure boot not working with MSI Z77a-G45 And system reserve not showing

Ok so i re did my windows after i did a zero fill on my hard drive as it was showing a corrupted sector on my disk that seemed to fix it for now, until it comes back if it does crossing my fingers it gone for good. But now i can't seem to get Secure boot to work i mean i did not have it before as i just slapped the motherboard in with a existing windows, that was to be expected but this is a clean install of windows 8.1 and i even have secure boot on but its not working and reports as off in windows. Is it because i have my bios set to legacy+UEFI??? would that make secure boot not work??. i even went as far as turning it off and back on again the secure boot setting nothing made a difference. I mean its not a big deal bit would be nice to know why its not working, also another wired thing and i will post pictures of it, as i cant see my system reserved partition in disk management but diskpart says it there, i will post those pictures any ideas??.

MSI Z87 G45 and Intel 4670k Turbo Boost Option Missing?

In my BIOS (V1.6):
I go into OC>CPU Features and Turbo Boost is not there, I have seen the bottom setting about using Intel's Turbo Boost, to UNDERCLOCK when needed, but I see no Feature to activate Turbo Boost or for some reason has this feature been taken out of V1.6?
Also note that I accidentally reset my XMP RAM profile and is now back to 2400MHz.

Not quite sure but this should be in just OC. Also you don't have to enable turbo boost but manually increase frequency using + and -, leaving all other settings at auto.
You will find there things like Frequency mode (not quite sure how it's worded) so you can either set it to be e.g. 3.4ghz all the time (idle too) or adaptive so when idling, it goes down to 1.5ghz (around..). Look carefully.

Is MSI Z87-G45 compatible with Be Quiet Dark Rock 3 and TridentX ?

I have a MSI Z87-G45 and 2 DDR3 TridentX (from 40 mm tall without heatspreader to 53mm with it) in dual channel mode.
I'd like to mount a Be Quiet Dark Rock 3 with rear air extraction, front heatsink fan, and my DDR3 in dual channel mode (slot 2 and 4). Is it compatible or will I encounter clearance issue with DDR3 ?

I bought the Dark Rock 3 from Be Quiet and I confirm that it is perfectly compatible with both TridentX and MSI Z87-G45 but we have to sacrifice the DDR's first slot (2, 3 and 4 still available).

Z87-G45 and 7970 problem

Sunday, I got a brand new MSI Z87-G45 and 4770k as a nice upgrade. Ive finally got the things working this evening, and the integrated graphics are running fine. However, when I attempt to utilize my 7970, no video output is available. The card is seated, the card works (last tested 2 hours ago), the card is powered, the fans are spinning up, yet still no video output is provided. Ive attempted to remedy the problem with another graphics card as well, and then with the two in crossfire, but still I have no out put. Help me msi forum , you're my only hope.

Take the pc a part and build it without case and try again.

Edit: I dont member if that board come with power button, but if not you can use jumper(or other tool) betwean those power button pins (be careful to not jump wrong pins!) a secend to start it up.

Did you use same PSU?
If it dosent work without case, then take your system bear minimum (MB, CPU, PSU and that GPU. Mayby memory too, but you can test it. Should you need it with that on board vga and no memory in) and try again.
If that dosent help, i would ask RMA from shop that sell you that board or straigth from MSI.

MSI Z87-G45 doesn't boot, doesn't beep

Hi guys,
I just received my new MSI Z87-G45 and put it in my pc with my Intel Core i5-4670K
When I first tried to boot, nothing happened, except the fans and the hard disk. It doesn't beep and I see no screen. I switched the RAM, removed the graphics card, removed the hd, nothing worked.
Just the fans are going on, but nothing else happens.
I had a look at the cpu socket and wasn't sure if it is how it is supposed to look like (my first intel board) so I attached a picture. The pins look kind of weird, not sure about them:

I did a CMOS several times (everytime after removing a component) - didn't change anything.
I just wasn't sure if it's generally normal, that the pins are not straight upwards like on amd cpus. But I already saw on some other pictures that that seems to be normal. The pins are all equally and none of them is at another height level. So that doesn't seem to ba a problem.

MSI Z87-G45 gaming incorrect values

Hello guys,
I got a problem with my z87-g45. It shows that the cpu temp is 0 degrees, so I updated the bios to look if it fixed it self, but no it don't.
I also pulled the cmos battery, it remains the same. So what should I do?
Also in hardware monitor the rpm speeds aren't right, its says the maximum is 7000 rpm, but my cpu fan only goes to 1300 rpm, as a result that my cpu fan is always running at low speed.
But if anyone knows a cpu fan controller software(command center is buggy and speedfan does not respond) then there is no problem for my.

One size never fits all. Maybe his ambient is very high. Maybe the case cooling, TIM, or CPU cooler isn't as good as it could be. Maybe the CPU is overclocked with power saving disabled. Maybe the OP wants the fans to run 100% at idle and low use. An 'ideal' setting is the one the OP chooses for his system. He now knows how to do it, so the choices are his on how to fine tune the fan settings.

I failed to mention, that the first thing I did was to remove my HD Audio Front panel connector off its header.
So I did some more searches. The noise has something to do with the capacitors on (presumably) the video card. The higher the pitch usually coincides with higher FPS. So the interference must be coming from the video card, as this is the last thing added and probably the main cause.
Both the motherboard & the SoundBlaster-Z pick up the EMI/RF interference. (I am disappointed by the SoundBlaster about this).
I'll test with the older motherboard and see how I proceed from there.

MSI Z87-G45 problems

I'm having issues (again) with the MSI Z87-G45 motherboard. This is a replacement board from having to RMA my initial purchase. Brand new build and I cannot get any display. I have reseated the cpu, ram, and graphics card multiple times. I disconnected everything from the motherboard except for the essential items and I still do not get a display. I tried without a graphics card and was still unable to get a display. When using DVI the monitor goes into standby mode. When using VGA the monitor doesn't recognize it's hooked up to anything. I use this monitor on multiple computers in my house so 10000% sure it is not the monitor. All components are out of the case.
Components I have tested:

Motherboard: MSI Z87-G45
gpu: MSI R9 280, MSI R7 260, no gpu

Is there something I'm missing or is this as simple as I received another bad board?

When I was very beginner, I had a computer with GPU, and I had similar problem: no display. Well, I was smart enough to plug my HDMI to on board HDMI port even though there was a GPU. So please make sure that you plug the cable to the graphics card.
Can you try different video cable? DVI/VGA/HDMI.
Intel Pentium G3258 will NOT work as your board BIOS is probably earlier than required for this chip to run properly.

Problem regarding Z87-G45 and graphics card

Hey guys, I upgraded my PC yesterday and only kept the graphics card from my old one because it was pretty decent. PC now looks like this:
MB: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming
CPU: i7 - 4770K
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 1600 Mhz (2x8GB)
PSU: bequiet! Straight Power E9 600W
and my trusty ASUS Geforce GTX 660 Ti
So basically I installed a copy of Windows 7 on my new SSD, installed the Drivers that came with the MB, and proceeded to download the new nvidia drivers because my graphics card was only being recognized as "standard vga video card". When I rebooted the system my PC froze at the Windows Logo and then rebooted itself over and over, getting stuck at the windows logo. Some times I got onto the desktop, could even open my browser etc. but that only lasted for a couple of seconds. Safe Mode was working fine though and it recognized the card and drivers. So I googled a bit, tried the card in my old PC and it was working fine.I tried my old GTX 260 but that gave my screen a very red-ish tone. Then I set up Windows again and installed every single chipset driver and MB driver, using mainly the MSI Live Update without my card in the system. It's running on the CPU's GPU atm. Then I plugged in my 660 Ti and didn't even get sth on screen this time. Now I've unplugged it again and am using the CPU graphic engine.
I'm kinda lost by now, I really don't know what else to try and I haven't found a solution I haven't tried on google.
So I wanted to try my luck with you guys: Am I doing something wrong? Am I missing some distinct BIOS features? Or is my MB/graphics card dying on me? And out of those options, which is the most likely?
Anyways, any help is much appreciated.

You see BIOS but not OS or what? ...
Edit: if that so then try other storage then your SSD for the os. just to get it out of picture...
You dont need to "validate" it for test so dont!!!! just set it to get validation later via manual or what ever els it says.
Edit 2: What if you brack the BD cake and insert that VGA to secend PCI-e x16 slot?
Edit 3: Samsung 840 have new FW too. So see if yours have one.
... i need to update one of my "non Pro Samsung 840" to be present in system, that had other drives in RAID...

MSI Z87-G45 Latest beta bios problem?

So i have updated to the latest beta bios but the core jumps to 5600mhz from 4500mhz.
Everything is set like it's alway's set.(4500 core @ 1.285v 4200 uncore/ring @ 1.19v, memory on xmp profile and the inputvoltage is 1.880v)
This only happens when using firefox from what i've seen, but i haven't done testing yet so it could happen with more programs.
Firefox becomes laggy when this happens and doesn't want to load anything unless you wait 25 seconds and then it still not load's the site complete.
IE 11 doesn't do this by the way.

Intel I7 4770K
G.Skill Ripjaws X 16gb

Edit: The clock's are just showing up that high in task manager, in XTU they stay @ 4.5.
But i still don't know why firefox is acting up with this bios.

Close this topic as i have found the problem.
It was a usb 2.0 stick in usb 3.0 port that was saving the cache for firefox.
But the stick was working very slowly in that port hence the slowdown.
