Problem with my iphone 5s battery

My iphone 5s is running the current version of ios :7.1.1
I have been facing a problem with my iphones battery . I tried every method like draining it all and recharging it etc etc. The phones battery drains when its on standby and also when i am using it.
What really bothers me is its only couple of months old. I ran a diagnostic test on my battery and found this. I cant interpret it .
Ergo i need your help. the results were :
CycleCount: 198
DesignCapacity: 1550
FullChargeCapacity: 1438
Status: Success
BatteryCurrentCapacity: 73
BatteryIsCharging: true
ExternalChargeCapable: false
ExternalConnected: true
FullyCharged: false
GasGaugeCapability: true
And do i need to go and replace my battery ?

You didn't say what the problem is. Of course the battery will drain while on standby or when you are using it.

Yes this is fairly normal. When you have wifi on the phone, it drains the battery life of the device.

  • Problem with my iPhone 4s battery/charge.

    Hi all,
I have a problem with my Iphone 4s battery / charge. I read through different forums and blogs and I found that some other users has my same problem.
My phone is loosing charge faster than anytime before. All started two weeks ago, before iOs 6.1.3 release. I use to charge the phone up to 100% every night. One mornign, i switched on the phone and I could no hear the typical sound of the screen unlocked. In addition the keyboard made no sound. I tried to control the volume with the side buttons, but once I pressed one of the two, nothing appeared under the speaker / sound logo. I left the phone just for a while and then the sound was back on. From that day till today, this thing is happening everytime i switched on the phone after a recharge.
PLUS, I noticed that the phone is loosing the charge very fast. About 10% every hour, even in stand by mode.
I tried to switch off all the email account and do and hard reset, but nothing changed.
I bought the phone 10 months ago.
    What I have to do?
    Many thanks
    Niko

I would like to know the answer to that one.  I realized this was happening just after upgradeing my iOS to 6.  Then when I looked up my purchase date, I was about 5 days past my one year warranty.  So I'm dead in the water.  Apple will replace the battery, but it will be about $80+.  I took it to the Apple store, and they checked a bunch of stuff, but said that it seemed ok.  I'm debating getting a battery for a more reasonable price off of ebay.  But if it's the iOS thats draining the battery, then I'm not going to be able to help it.  I wish I knew a better way to tell if its the battery, the phone, or the iOS.

  • Is anyone else having a problem with the iPhone 4s Battery Life?  My 1 year old Iphone 4, which I gave to my wife, is holding a charge better and she has been using it far more than I've been using my 4s

My wife preordered a white iPhone 4s for our anniversary and even though it is preloaded with the ios 5, i am a little disappointed.  The battery doesn't seem to hold a charge well at all. I have had every other iphone except the 3gs and have never had such a poor battery life.  I owned the iPhone 4 for a year, and already know all the tricks to hold on to battery life, I have adopted the habit of closing out any apps that weren't being used, my mail push notifications are set for hourly, wifi and bluetooth are turned off when they aren't needed.  I also stay away from any car chargers, use only the apple brand supplied cables, and only charge when the phone is dead.  I only would sync when the phone was about to die as well.
When I saw how fast I was burning through the battery, I turned off Siri, which is kind of the purpose of the new iPhone, and turned off the backing up to iCloud.  I barely used my phone today and the battery kept ticking down.  My wife, who has been stuck with an iPhone 3g for years, has been fascinated with my old iPhone 4 and has been browsing and playing games and her battery has been holding a better charge than my new phone.  I even tried turning the phone off for an hour when it was at 18% and when I turned it back on, it was at 15%. My iPhone 2, which is only being used as a touch iPod now, still has better standby time than a brand new iPhone 4s.
To be honest, I am usually a heavy phone user.  Throughout the day I will make and receive at least 50 calls, I browse and check websites daily and watch videos sometimes during my downtime.  But this weekend, I haven't even had the chance to put this phone through the same abuse my other 3 iPhones have had to endure.
I just want to know if anyone else has this problem, or if I should just return this one.

I had major issues with the iPhone 4s battery, however it’s resolved.
The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.
turning of locator and the push notifications from facebook--they have a lot!

  • Anyone having problems with there iphone 5 battery life been very poor

I have had the iphone 5 for 4 weeks now and the battery life is very very poor at first i thought it must just be how it is....was dissapointed tho from fully charged to flat in 4 hours with little use or going to bed and waking up with the battery life going down 17%!!! but then 1 day i charged it fully and it never went down for ages, over 24 hours and it still had 25% this lasted for about 4 days then all of a sudden back to been rubish, i sent it in to apple who returened it without doing a single thing (apart from scratched an dented the bottom!!) it was exactly the same ..poor.....but then last night i charged it took it off charge at 6pm (english time) and now at 00.42am the day after it still has 11%....clearly ther is a fault somewere!!! has anyone had the same experience or got any tips for me please?
    cheers, Danny

Yes a lot of people are having this issue it's from the ios 6 update. Some users are reporting battery drains a lot after updating their device
There have always been a lot of battery problems posted about in these forums following each and every iOS update.  Personally, I believe that the battery really isn't discharging any faster, it is just that the charging circuit is confused and needs to be reset. I always perform a setup as a new phone for major updates, for example iOS3 to iOS4, 4 to 5, 5 to 6, which should be a 'reset' for the charging system, but I do a simple update for point releases--6.0 to 6.0.1, etc.  I have never had a problem with battery performance when performing the full update as new, only when I did a 'normal' update for a point release.  If I perform an update with a restore from the old backup after a major update the battery problem did appear.
After every iOS point update I always do a full reset--home and on/off buttons held down until the Apple appears--three or four times over the course of a couple of days.  I allow the phone to fully charge overnight every night.
This has always resulted in 'normal' battery life after one or a few reset cycles.  By 'normal' I mean that a fully charged iPhone, with email and other notifications enabled and set to push, and no particular attention paid to battery conserving techniques, will discharge to about 89% over a 10 hour day.  If I make a few phone calls and surf the web a bit then the level has fell to 70% or so, but unless I heavily use my iPhone 5 it doesn't drop below that point.
Prior to performing the resets the charge level would sometimes drop into the 50's or 60's or even lower in a few hours without using the iPhone.  This problem 'scenario' has happened with every iPhone I have ever owned and I've owned all but the original iPhone.
As always, YMMV.  I make no claims as to its usability for anyone else.

  • Problem with draining iPhone 4S Battery

I have had my iPhone 4S since they were released last year.  For no reason about 3 days ago the battery quickly starting draining fast.  One morning I took it off and when I looked at the phone 4-5 hours later without using it once the battery was down to around 28%.  I thought it was a fluke but the same thing happened yesterday and now the same thing today.  Without even using it within hours the battery is almost dead.
I first did what I've learned is some type of reset by holding the home button down while turning the phone off and then turning it back on.  I also have opened the task manager and closed all apps in the task manager.  That is what I did last night but got the same results today.
I keep thinking there is some app that's running and draining memory or something to do with notifications.  I have many apps on my phone and many are set up to give notifications but I have not changed much at all on my iPhone in the last 3 days.  The only thing I can think of is maybe installing 2-3 new apps and one or so that had notifications.  Why would it start doing this?
Is there any way that I can somehow find what app(s) or notification(s) are draining my battery or is it something else?
Is it possible that something is simply going wrong with the battery?
I've been fortunate to not have to deal with Apple support much at all.  Is it something I can call them on the phone for support or is it best to simply visit a genius bar?  The nearest Apple store is not that close to me so I was hoping this is something I'll find a solution to on these forums. As much as I'd love a nice new iPhone 5 this is still in warranty and I hope to have it fixed.
    Thanks

Since I'm not using an Exchange account that's not the culprit.  It seems I'll be making a trip to the Apple Store.  If they replace my iPhone is it possible they'll replace it with the iPhone 5? I would imagine I'll get another 4S which is fine but I'm wondering if they would even give me the option of upgrading to the iPhone 5 for possibly a small fee.  It seems it just may be a good time to upgrade to the iPhone 5.  Then again if I push for that they may suspect something with the timing of this problem.  I've tried to reset it multiple times though and still today on day 4 it's continuing to lose battery power quickly.

Your battery is running quickly because your cellular data connection is weak.

  • "There is a problem with your Iphone..."

So I purchased my Iphone off trademe last year, it did not come with warranty ect.
About 3 weeks ago I dropped my iphone in water, I put it in rice + silica gels in a sealed zip lock bag for about a week.
    It was working fine for about 2 days and it suddenly collapsed;
    - it does not charge properly, the battery is always on either 1% or 100% but whenever I pull it out of the charger, it turns off immediately or stays on for about a minute or so and shuts off.
    - It charges for a little whenever I plug it into my Mac, but then turns off after 5 min or so of charging and then blinks off and on with the apple logo continuously until I have to plug it into my wall charger.
    - It does not function properly unless it is plugged into my wall charger. It works for about 15 min and then turns off, automactically turning back on with the IOS 6 start up screen. Whenever this happens I have to turn it back off and then on for it to return to normal.
    - I have restored it once successfully, and it worked perfect, but I forgot to charge it over night and it went all funny again.
So now, I have tried restore it again. I connected my iphone to itunes, and my iphone successfully stayed on throughout the process of restoration. But then as soon as it finished, my iphone was supposed to restart but it started blinking on and off which made me have to connect it back to my wall charger. So now it sometimes works normally whilst connected to the wall charger, but usually it continues to turn off and on with the IOS 6 start up screen. When I slide the 'set up' slide, it comes up with the image of the USB cord and Itunes saying 'Connect to Itunes. And so, I do. But then it comes up with the very annoying message "There is a problem with your Iphone, please go to your nearest apple store...ect." on itunes, but in my iphone it says "Connected to itunes." but I have no idea what to do next? I can't put it into recovery mode because it doesn't charge properly on my mac, so it does not turn back on no matter how long I have charged it for.
I have NO idea what to do! And I need itunes to back up my phone!
    Any help is very appreciated!
Does anyone know what I have to do to get my battery working normal again? And what I have to do to get my itunes to "not have a problem with my iphone?
    Thank you!

I hate to tell you this, but there is most likely nothing left on the phone to back up. If youdidn't have it backed up already, it's too late now.
As for getting it working again, make an appointment at the genius bar. You'll need to pay for an out of warranty replacement.
That one is almost certainly toast.

  • Problem with my iPhone 4S

Please help. I'm having a problem with my iPhone 4s. It won't turn on. If I leave it alone a few minutes and try the charger it will boot up. But when I finally get it turned on, it simply freezes after a couple of minutes and shuts off again and I have to wait a while before trying again. I've done basic troubleshooting by pressing and holding the lock and home button, but nothing works. Plugging it into my computer didn't do anything and I even tried erasing everything and start fresh but that didn't do anything either. Is there anything left to do or is the phone dead. The Mac Store here in MX couldn't figure it out so I am consulting the web. Please help. Is there anyhting I can do or is my phone dead?

    Hi
    - you cannot restore it from iTunes? as from your explanation, it looks that its iOS problem. or
    - try to let the battery drain (< 5% or until it shuts down) and connect it to iTunes and try restoring. or
    - keep it plugged in the charger for 3,4,5 hrs and do hard reset again ( lock+home bottoms)

I have a Mac Air and suddenly Safari can't find the Facebook server. I am out of my home countryt but no problem with my iPhone's Safari. Any recommendations? I would like to put some pictures on Facebook from iPhoto. Thanks.

you cannot keep up with all of the interfaces 'cause they do not even allow you to use the older os.
You should be able to upgrade to Mountain Lion via the App Store applicaiton on your Macbook Air.   You do not have to upgrade, but it should be an option.
I can't even get an ichat acct 'cause, help?
iChat can use AOL Instant Messenger accounts (they are free), iChat can use Google Talk (Jabber) accounts (actually any Jabber based chat service).   And if you upgrade to Mountain Lion, you shoul be able to get an Apple iCloud account that can be used with the Messages replacement for iChat (think of Messages as being iChat renamed, with additional features).
Oh and my battery very close to a year after buying it, which is one of the reasons I was so called to it, the battery life.  Well, having it stripped down to minimal usage, while working on nothing crazy, I could be cordless from nevver reahing 100% anymore, just under that, but gets to 20 percent in about 3 hours. No audio, no video, light low, it bothers me anyway.  Please, this is also a huge problem.
Every battery today, has a limited number of recharges (not just Apple's).   Depending on how many times it has been recharged, will affect how much power it will eventually hold. <http://www.apple.com/batteries/>
I know that generally after about 2 years of use (my use, not yours) I find that my batteries have very little life left in them (I frequently have my devices plugged in, so running fully on batteries only is most likely less than yours).
You can have your battery replaced by Apple (for a fee) or by an authorized Apple repair facility.
