Problem with my trackpad

My trackpad is freezing but when i put my mouse everything is ok , what can i do ?

After installing Mountain Lion my MacBook Pro trackpad began to freeze after about 5 secs with no use.
For me, after trying many things, the only thing that fixed it was to quit the "Suunto MovesLink" software which had been loading on startup.

  • Problem with Magic TrackPad and Macbook Pro

I just bought the Apple Wireless Keyboard and Apple Magic TrackPad for my home desktop setup. I connect my Macbook Pro 13" (from august 2010) to a Dell U2410 screen.
Everything works perfectly for a while, but then the cursor starts jumping around on the screen when I use the Magic TrackPad. Now here comes the weird thing, if I open the lid on the Macbook just a few inches the jumping stops completely and the Magic TrackPad works perfectly again.
I have tried googling a bit and browsed these forums also - no luck finding a solution.
I have also tried connecting a USB mouse to the Macbook when the cursor started to jump around - no problem with the USB mouse. I have also tried a different Magic TrackPad that my friend also just have bought for his setup - same problem after a short time.
Everything is updated to the latest software and firmware.
Thank you in advance for your help.

I have the same problem with a Trackpad paired with a new Mac Mini just purchased in September. After a while, my trackpad also starts to exhibit behavior similar to those described by Hecro. The trackpad cursor feels frozen, or else it jumps around, often trying to stay away from or jump over any hyperlink in either text or graphic form on the page I am viewing.
I find that if I pick up the trackpad and hold it above my palm between my thumb on one side and my fingers on the other side — so there is no pressure on the clicking feet on the bottom of the trackpad — a "jumping" trackpad instantly becomes a "stable" trackpad. Put it back down on a surface and it starts jumping again.
Also, when it starts jumping or skipping, I also find that if I use one finger and bear down hard on the trackpad, it resumes being responsive.
I am filing a comment about this on Apple's feedback forum at www.apple.com/feedback at the advice of a Genius at the Apple Store at Cambridgeside in Cambridge, Massachusetts USA.

  • Problems with the trackpad

    Hi everybody,
I am having a problem with the trackpad of my unibody macbook pro.
I can´t use the command previous/forward when I move three thingers in the trackpad because it minimizes the window to the dock.
Do you know what can I do?
    thank you in advance

10.6 or 10.7 or something else?
    Is your battery swollen?
Could you please re-state your complaint using the most simple language possible? What you have written reads like three overlapping and contradictory complaints.

  • Problem with clicking trackpad

    hey,
why does my mouse when i do a click or double-click with my trackpad move sidewards from time to time?
    thanks for answers:)

it  isn't a problem of one other finger, when i click an hold it with one finger, the mouse moves until it is on the right side of the screen. this problem is only with the trackpad, not with my magicmouse. i have the problem since lion and only from time to time, a restart doesn't help

  • Problem with the Trackpad. Freezes up constantly

I'v been having problems recently with my trackpad. It freezes up constantly. 2 to 3 times a week and sometimes more than once on the same day. When this happens I almost always have to restart the computer. It's not the computer that freezes, just the trackpad. This just recently started on my MacBook Pro (old version). I bought it just before the new ones came out, so it's not old at all. The trackpad is clean, never spilled anything on it. I don't know what to do, but it's getting pretty annoying. Any suggestions and or comments are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks for your wisdom.

    Hi,
There is a new update for the keyboard and mouse firmware for the Mac Book Pro. Have you installed that? If not try that.
If the issue persists, try booting to safe boot by pressing the Shift key down while the Mac boots up and test the issue. If it is working, remove the Caches from the Home Folder>Library and Mac HD>Library and Start up items from the Mac HD>Library. Restart the Mac and see whether the issue is happening again.
If the issue persists, try the normal reset of SMC and PRAM. To reset SMC try the link http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411.
To reset PRAM, press and hold down the 'CmdOption+PR' when the computer starts up and wait for two chimes before you release it.
I hope this will help you. Good Luck.

I am new to Mac .. I got my laptop a month ago and I wanted to clean it.. with a little wett peace of fabric it was turned off

  • Where can I find the update to fix the problem with the trackpad acting up?

My trackpad has been acting up lately, with the arrow going everywhere by itself, and not being able to control it. I googled and found that it's a common problem for the 2011 Macbook Pros, and that Apple had released an update to fix the problem. Where can I find the update on the Apple site?

If an update is available, it will appear when you select Apple menu > Software Update...
But you should also read this support article:

  • Hello, I have a problem with my trackpad...

...when I want to do the right click with my Late 2008 Macbook, it will go to the expose instead. And it still does the expose with the four fingers. I tried turning the function on and off several times but it won't work. I have the trackpad Version: 0.77.
Has anybody any suggestions what I can try instead?
    Thank you!

    Try a PRAM reset.

  • Hello, I am having a problem with my trackpad. Somehow it popped out and the top layer has cracked.

I don't know how, I just came home one day after school and it was just like this. I don't have any money to spend to get it fixed, and I was wondering if there is anyway I can just fix it on my own. I've tried pushing it back down but it won't stay down. I don't know if I should get super glue and clamp it down and fix it that way, but I don't want risk shortfrying something in there. I am currently using a wireless mouse, and I'm fine with using it, I just want the track pad to come down so nothing just falls in and the problem worsens.

Bring it to an Apple store or AASP. Don't be surprised if they don't believe that it "just happend."

    Hi totito1984,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
My first suggestion is to simply restart your computer which will reset your Magic Trackpad.

  • Problem with the trackpad on my Blackberry 9300

    Can somebody help me?
The trackpad on my blackberry Curve 9300 has been frozen for over 12hours now and its simply not working, totally frozen. i have tried removing the battery but it wont work still. Any solutions to this problem ?

I have the exact same problem. My phone has not been disassembled, and I have had it since new - about a year. A few weeks ago the problem started. Left on its own, the phone will sometimes scroll upwards all by itself. When I scroll downwards I have to keep the trackpad covered to prevent it from jumping back up. If the light catches it a certain way, this can trigger it to start scrolling upwards.I took it in to the retailer, and they said I should remove the battery, and also, update the software. I did both, but no change. I can make it better by putting a piece of scotch tape on part of the track pad, but it soon comes loose and is not a good solution.
I read somewhere that you can buy your own trackpad not too expensively and replace it. If so, where do you get it, how do you fit it, and can you get the cost covered if still under warranty? This is a product defect of some kind, I dont accept that I need to pay for the fix if I'm still in warranty. I would rather not send it away for a period of time to be fixed. My retailer claims no knowledge of the problem.  I would really appreciate some ideas from an expert! Thanks in advance.

  • Hi, I just have a problem with the trackpad

Hi, I bought a Mac Book Pro about 2 months ago and everything was working perfectly but suddenly the trackboard started not working. It's not letting me to drag down or go up the page.  I can still click stuff and the mouse moves but like when you use two fingers to move down or go up the page it won't let me do that. So I'm just using the keyboard right now to go down the page.
    Thank you!

If you just bought it, take it to the Genius Bar and let them figure it out. Take advantage of your warranty.
