Problem with N73

Hi Everyone,
I just thought I could try here to find a solution, yesterday my N73 developed a problem, on the main screen, on the bar that indicates you have a missed call or a new message or when the keypad is locked, its directly below the battery meter, everyone know what I mean. Well, yesterday directly under the battery meter a number '2' appeared, it has had some strange repercussions, it has reduced the signal, where I previously usually would get signal, I now get none and cannot make any outgoing calls, everytime I try it says connection error. Its the strangest thing.
Please does anyone know what this is? Thanks
Jam

no way how embarrassing, thank you for taking the time for replying a rather frivolous post pluciorx, I was well aware of the second line, but had absolutely no idea that was it, it had just appeared, I dont know how it was activated, but nonetheless thank you very much. Take care.. haha B-)

    Hi all,
I have been facing with pixel death problem with my Nokia n73. in the beginning there were only few pixels having this problem, but now it seems it is increasing rapidly.
What would be the possible problem for the same? is that changing the LCD removes this problem? How much will changing the dispaly cost?
    Regards,

Pixel problems with this handset are extremely rare.
If you do have some pixels missing and the phone is not damaged then this will be free of charge under Nokias manufacturer warranty, and you should take this to a repair centre to get fixed.

  • Problem with N73 after firmware update

Recently I tried to update the firmware on my Nokia n73. Somehow the cable got disconnected and the phone died. I read everything on the topic here and went directly to the nearest NCS. There they repaired my phone and updated the firmware to V3.0638.0.0.30 (everything else shown after *#0000# is: 30-10-2006, RM-133, Nokia N73 (05)). But after that, I noticed that when I press the multimedia button, it opens directly the music player, instead of a list of applications. Also when I hold down the menu button it shows both the standby icon and the music one. My problem is that I mostly use the camera, not the music player, and it seems (to me) that it slows the phone down (especially when going through the image gallery). So I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to close the music player, or at least how to change back the multimedia button to a list of applications. I am using the standard 128mb miniSD. Thanks in advance and cheers from Bulgaria.

  • Problems with N73 firmware v 4.0726.2.0.1 update

    Hello,
we have updated our N73 with the 4.0726.2.0.1 software update.
Since then, what happens is that reststarting the phone the music player automatically starts, although it is not a music edition.
Furthermore, it does not connect with our bluetooth gps device, which did work before the software update with Nokia maps perfectly.
    Can you help?
    Product code: 0529799
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Best regards,
    Dora

I also had the same problem when upgrading to the newest firmware:
    Firmware: V 4.0726.2.0.1 26-06-2007 RM-133 Nokia N73 (77.01)
    Type: GPS
    Vendor: Dell
    Model: BT-309
    BT version: 1.2 (I think...)
    Status: NOT working
Tested with: TOMTOM Navigator 6.010 with gps driver 1.20
When trying to use the Dell BT-309 GPS it keeps trying to get a signal without any success. It finds the GPS, asks for the code, tries to pair off and then loses the signal back and forth forever.
The GPS worked fine with my Nokia 6620 so I know it's got to be something that they jinxed in the new firmware. I can now use my BT stereo headset but lost my GPS ability, which frankly costs much more than the headset and is far more useful to me

  • Is there problems with n73 Music edition?help me b...

    hii
some tell me that there is factory's fault in N73 ME that make the top speaker not working and when i turn my call to speaker the speaker be weak and i heard that N73 (Normal) haven't that
    is that right?
and can i add new software and programs for n73me as n73?
and is Guarantee important for them?
    plz help be4 i buy

I'm a standard N73 user and I must say, for a techofreak like me, its simply the best phone i've used.
I also don't need wifi, or gps. Plus on top of that the N95 has rather crud battery life.
Because it has SymbianOS 9 V3 you're up-to-date with the symbian specification which allows so much more than the previous versions found on the N70 for example.
The sound quality through the speakers, bit tinny, but its the loudest of any phone i've heard, i just turn it to full on the bus and drown out the CHAV's cruddy Sony's speakers without a problem.
As for the camera, I couldn't ask for more. The pictures are great, even using the automatic preset. As for video, that blew me away, the quality from that is out standing, I was a concert and the quality was brilliant from the back of the hall. Its like any phone or anything with a mic, get it too close to a set of massive speakers it will distort.
The screen is a nice size also, i look back at my Nokia 6233 or even my 6230i and think just how shockingly small they are and how low quality a series 40 phone is.
If you're not a slidey person like me, and don't require built in WiFi and GPS and want a battery life that allows you to go away for a weekend without running out, the N73 is for you.
Hope this helps you with your decision

  • Is there a firmware problem with N73?

I have a new N73 with TomTom Navigator 6 installed. First thing I did was update the firmware (V4.0726.2.0.1) but now it cannot communicate by bluetooth with the TomTom GPS receiver despite being successfully paired.
    Is this a known issue?
Can I roll back the firmware update?

    Hi,
and welcome to the club... :-(
Look to the 'Connectivity'- area. There are some threads about that problem... (It is a NOKIA- problem!)

  • Updater connectivity problem with N73

I try to update my phone N73 using the "Nokia Software Updater". All software installed correctly and I can use it to manage my phone.
But. When I try to update the firmware the "Nokia Software Updater" can not find my phone. Step 2 - Searching for connected phone does not pass.
    Have anybody else this problem?
Thanks a lot for your help.

Please use the search function... there are many threads open already about this general problem, and some solutions are offered as well. I'll offer you one over here: try a different USB port, preferably on the back of your pc, and CLOSE ANY OPEN application, on your phone as well as on the PC (beware to shutdown PC Sync as well). Also, set your phone to ASK which Data Connection type to use. Go to Tools > Data Cable to change this option. Set it to "Ask upon connection". Setting it explicitly to PC Suite doesn't work for NSU for some odd reason, and this appears to be true for ALL models that offer this option.
Finally, if the problem persists, open Nokia PC Suite and choose Help > About Nokia PC Suite. In the dialogue that appears, click System Info. Next, see whether PC Suite RECOGNISES the Cable Connectivity drivers. This is where most people experience the problem. Note that, to use NSU, you'll need PC Suite 6.8x! (where x = 1 or 2 -- i.e. the newest available version of PC Suite!)

  • Problems with N73

I just got a N73, which I love, but there r certain things which Im having trouble with, and I would really apreciate if anyone could help, these are:
    - I can´t find any emotions icons (smiles, etc) to insert as part of sms
    - I can´t find any setting that allows me to program an alarm for the whole week except weekends (or a reminder of an activity that takes place every day at the same time)
    - Is there any way that I can take my meeting schedule & reminders from the normal cell display window.
    Txs
    Zima

viper is right you can't have emoticons on that phone model without third party software although some Nokia Clam Shell Models have, but the crux is the one receiving should have this feature also, & in the third party both should have the software so it could display properly!

I don't think there is a 3rd app for that. the camera also uses the flash for auto focus so if it was disabled, the videos wouldn't be as good.

  • N73 & Problem with Lifeblog

Not sure if this should have gone in here, but here goes...
I bought an N73 on 3 in the UK a few weeks ago, and Lifeblog was working fine. About a week after I had the phone, my old number was ported over, and several programs stopped working, one of them is Lifeblog.
When I go to the lifeblog site to redownload lifeblog, the site says Lifeblog is installed on the phone, lifeblog is also listed in PC Suite (6.84.10.3), but when I run lifeblog, and click "copy new iteems from phone", I get the message that lifeblog is not installed on the phone, nor is there any sign of it on the phone any more.
I have redownloaded the lifeblog installer exe several times and run that, but it still is not working, and run the installer from the CD that came with the phone - does anyone have any ideas ?
    Thanks
    (I am running Vista)

    Hey
    Thanks for replying!
I've done some more experimenting, both with my old N70, and my new N73...
The thing with point 1 is, on my N70, it does remember the album it was in, although you have to update the lifeblog app on the device itself, before you can sync to the PC, and the lifeblog on the N70 doesn't remember the mobile phone cell the photo was taken in. My theory is that the lifeblog app on S60 ver2 is subtly different to the one on S60 ver3 (obvious, I know, but the devil is in the details).
The problem with point 2 is that it seems to have a preference for day notes over appointments ("meeting" ) in the recording. Since you ask, I use Outlook 2003 for my diary, and then sync to the N73, although sometimes I add appointments to the phone, or modify them. I don't really know whether that would make much difference, though. I use day notes, spread over the week, to record what week of the semester it is, and then meetings to record my lectures. I *was* hoping that it would record the lecture name, so I wouldn't have to cross-reference with my timetable to work out what lecture the photo was from.
As a side note, I really like using the camera to photograph the board in lectures, and the lecturers don't mind, as long as the flash doesn't go off. Saves me furiously writing stuff down!
Anyway, now that I know its the difference between my N70 and N73 thats making the difference, I'm a lot happier. I know I'm not going mad, and that there are quirks and bugs, but I dont seem to be able to find people discussing them. I've even looked on AllAboutSymbian and other, more fringe websites, but maybe I'm the only one using lifeblog like this.
    Cheers
    Tom

Hi castlelooper. I am sure that you are correct with point a) and that point c)is entirely up to your own moral values, which no one can argue against. However how is changing the product code illegal. I have an 02 phone, which has no branding other than a screen saver. There is no effect on the phones usage etc by changing the product code. Surely it is far more against regulations to sell phones that are not fit for the purpose they are intended for. I can understand there being a problem with debranding 3Uk phones for example as it would allow users to switch away from 3g mode, as with other network phones. This would cost 3UK money and contravene their terms and conditions. This is not the case with most other networks. By the way I am not advocating hacking phones as I totally accept that the warranty would be voided and damage could be caused to the phone. But Surely providing one is prepared to acknowledge the risks, it comes down to individual moral choice
Congratulations... Unfortunately, Nokia sees the changing of a product code as a change to the characteristics of the phone and has thus marked it as illegal. However, I HAVE to give it to you that you have just posted the MOST sensible comment on this issue since I became a member on this forum.

  • Alarm clock problem after Sync with N73

I have a problem with the alarm clock in my N73 (RM-133). From the moment on I had my phone synchronized with Outlook via Nokia PC Suite, the alarm clock fails to start the phone from power-off state - it switches on, and then the software crashes. A working alarm clock can only be restored by formatting the phone with *#7370# and therefore losing all settings and data.
Another thing that can be seen is that, after a Sync, if I set the alarm clock, turn off the phone, immediately turn it on again, the alarm clock is still set to its time, but the alarm symbol (the little bell) is no longer displayed.
I have absolutely no idea what the reason may be. It can not be incompatible installed apps, as the problem also occurs after a total reset without changing any setting in the phone. I have already once changed my hardware on warranty. I am always using the latest (unbranded original Nokia) FW available, same goes for PC Suite. Any ideas?

Oj, just relax and buy another phone, that's exactly what Nokia wants! I did so after 3 times sending back my N73 for various defects (keys, display, camera), then took a E65 for 2 years (which is far better, but not perfect, worked after 1 time exchange with a faulty SIM card reader), now I have a N82 which I had to exchange 6 (six) times for not having several stuck keys, scratches on the display, dust inside the display. This N82 now "only" makes strange noises when pressing keys like double-sided adhesive tape not properly fixed. Nokia knows about that problem (asked today in a shop). They fix it, but can't guarantee it getting better.
So... just sit back, relax, and throw all your expectations about quality from Nokia over board, learn how to be happy for getting some (mostly useless) answer from the support at all, and never think you could get a masterpiece of a working phone from Nokia if you pay them 'only' 400 bucks.
