Problem with ODBC 11g
Hello,
we work with a small Database Solution (MS Access 2003) with several linked Oracle-Tables. In the past we used the Oracle ODBC Driver 9.2 and everything worked well. Now we got the first machine with Windows 7 and Oracle ODBC 11g.
When we now try to get data from the Oracle-DB, it lasts very long to get a result.
After editing the registry "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\ODBC\SnapshotOnly from "0" to "1" (forces snapshots) the queries work faster, but the linked tables have no information about their key.
If i give MS Access the key information manually when linking the tables, the queries are slow again.
Does anybody have an idea about this behaviour?
Thanks
Martin
Hello,
May I suggest the following:
1. Would be possible to use stored procedures called from your Access application?
2. Are you using pass-through+ queries or normal Access queries? Pass-through queries are much faster.
Regards,
M.R.

Problem with Oracle 11g(32 bit) installation on windows 7 ultimate edition
Hello all,
I have a problem with Oracle 11g(32 bit) installation on windows 7 ultimate edition (32 bit).
I have successfully installed it immediately after OS installation. But today, i have decided to deinstall it and go for Oracle 10g version for 32 bit.
Everything went normal during installation, but i can see the services is not present in services.msc. Also its throwing some exception for dbca, netca
Now i tried to deinstall it and again go for 11g. But even the same story here..
Can anybody give me a solution for this..
-Regards

ur problem is that u install latest version and now u trying to installing old version.

install fresh windows 7.

SaqibNo need to install a fresh OS. That's like tearing your house down just because you wired a lamp wrong and blew a circuit breaker.
There are MeaLink notes on how to eradicate an Oracle install from Windows, but it boils down to this:
Stop all Oracle services
In the registery:
- Delete all oracle services from the register (HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet
- Delete the entire Oralce folder from HKLM\Software
reboot
Delete the ORACLE_HOME directory and any other Oracle related directories/files. Offhand, it seems like there is an Oracle directory under Program Files.

Slow wireless speed with new iMac Intel- problem with 802.11g?
There IS a problem with the new Intel Mac, I have tried both the Intel iMac and the new Intel Mac mini and they both have the same problem with slow wireless speed (or rather it variates, if I do a ping to another computer on the network the speed goes from < 1 ms up to 1000 ms and then down to < 1 ms and so on). The older mac minis, my Linux boxes and my Windows PCs don´t have that problem. I have also read reports on the net and it appears that most users experiencing this problem have wireless card firmware version 101.3 (3.120.28.3) . A possible "fix" is to change to 802.11b on the router and then it works. No speed fluctuations and a stabile network! I know it is a bad solution, I would prefer to use 802.11g and get the speed. However I think this points to a problem with the drivers regarding 802.11g. I am starting up a new thread on this and those of you with problems, please try to switch to 802.11b and if it works let us make Apple aware of this.

Problem with ODBC Driver 8.1.7.7
When we try to execute the following sql command, an error message is displayed.
update tr_werk_tab set (name1,name2) = (select name1, name2 from tr_werk_tab)
The table in the "select" clause is originally another table. The statement only works with "one" field referenced.
The error message is:
ORA-00923 FROM keyword not found where expected.
This was not a Problem with all the other ODBC Driver versions (7.3, 8.0.5, 8.1.5, 8.1.6).
What can we do ? The statement works with sql-plus.

TRIAS Informatik GmbHFirst, it appears that you've found the bug. I've confirmed it on my box. I would suggest that you log a TAR with Oracle support so that someone can start looking into the problem. I suspect that some of the SQL munging the driver has to do is mangling your query, but I'd need to do a trace at the TNS level or on the database to see exactly what's being passed over the wire.
There are previous versions of the 8.1.7.x ODBC driver available for download on OTN. Since it worked correctly in previous versions of the driver, perhaps one of these earlier 8.1.7.x drivers happens not to have this particular bug.
It appears that you could re-write the query, i.e.
update emp set empno = (select 1 from dual), ename = (select 'Justin' from dual);
though that's going to be almost twice as expensive as the proper form.

Problems with Oracle 11g on Win2008 server
Hi all,
we changed our database 10g on W2K3 to 11g with Win 2008 server on weekend
Since yesterday we have problems with the database. On monday we had no problems.
The problems begun on tuesday. The assemly lines are connecting to the server with a tnsnames.ora, who placed on a networkshare.
here the tnsnames.ora:
# TNSNAMES.ORA Network Configuration File: C:\Oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1\NETWORK\ADMIN\tnsnames.ora

Every PC on the assembly lines has this tnsnames.ora and a connection to the mapping M:
Today we had already the same problem. Some PCs got a connection to the DB and some got suddenly no connection.
After 15 minutes diagnostics we stopped and started the db.
The PCs got after the restart a connection.
On the clients is the oracle client 10g installed, but I think thats not the problem.
I don't know whats the problem can be.
I hope you can help me or have some idea's?
The TNSnames.ora on the server:

One of them we deleted.
The dns should be not a problem now.
an idea? I hope so....
thanks for reading.

The TNSnames.ora on the server:tnsnames is used only by client processes. When you say "on the server" are you talking about the one pointed to by the IFILE in the local tnsnames shown above? If not, if this just happens to be the tnsnames on the database server, then it has no bearing on your problem.

At a previous employer we used a shared tnsnames file. It was not on the db server but on a file server, specifically for shareing. Occasionally there would be an issue with the network connection to that file server, or our dimwit SA would change the sharing permissions. Of course he claimed there was no issue on his end and I had to take my own network traces to prove it was.
thanks for reading.

Hi all,
I have problem with Enterprise Manager 11g Grid Control Release 1 (11.1.0.1.0) for Linux x86-64 (64-bit) downloaded archives.
Actually with GridControl_11.1.0.1.0_Linux_x86-64_2of3.zip (1,589,671,704 bytes) (cksum - 535544209)
I successfully downloaded all archives but cksum for this file (...2of3...) is invalid.
Even it is invalid I tried to install. Installation starts ok, but it breaks after few moments.
RegardsHere is cksum from file that I downloaded 3966614633 and on download page is 535544209.
It's obvious that something is wrong!
Oracle personal should fix this issue.
Anyhow, there is another way... Download from different location. See this thread:

Problems with Oracle 11g XE R2
Hi guys,
I've got a problem and try'n to solve it for abt a week now and tried many solutions.
My enviroment:
Windows 7 Professional SP 1 64-Bit
AMD Phenom II x4 940 @3.0 GH
4 GB RAM (In Usage while installing 40%)
Windows-Firewall is activated (but oracle.exe and lstnr.exe are configured as exception)
avast! Free Antivirus Version 2014.9.0.2018
Installation (both times with same outcome):
Installed O 11g XE 64-Bit in two different ways:
User I was logged in with is in Admingroup
Started installation via rightclick with administrationprivileges
I activated the administrators account and logged in with adminprivileges.
After that I've installed the 11g XE 64 bit
between both steps I cleaned everything up and restarted my system, registry was empty too and folder was deleted manually
at first I get this problem: Windows cannot find "http://127.0.0.1:%HTTPPORT%/apex/f?p=4950"
-> Manually changing %HTTPORT% to 8080
--> now I could doubleclick the shortcut, Firefox/IE/Chrome opens but 404 not Found-Error is returned
- OracleServiceXE, XracleXETNListener both are running

so Listenerservice is up and running but I cant find the http 8080-Service with netstat -a
so I started investigating a bit more:
Registryfolder: HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE is installed
following subdirectories are installed: KEY_XE, ODP.NET, OracleMTSRecoveryService
What I tried (both ways, starting with and without adminstrationprivileges):
I created two new DWORD-Values in KEY_XE ORACLE_SID_AUTOSTART and -SHUTDOWN both with the value True and stopped and started the services, nothing changes.
Inserted both users (Administrator and normal User) in ORA_DBA-Group, nothing changes, even tried to turn it off and on again
wanted to connect to sqlplus via console:

Problem was, the XE.bat-Script couldn't add me to the ORA_DBA-Group.
Reason: my Computername and my username, both had a vowel mutation "ü".
Reason it didn't work at my business-laptop too, both have my "Ü" in the username

SOAP API integration problem with OIM 11g R1
Hi,
We're facing a problem when we are attempting to provision for a third party Web Service application in OIM 11g R1.
During development and test running in an IDE environment, JDeveloper, the soap wsdl requests are triggered and a response is received successfully. However, when we shift the work and integrate it with OIM using design console, there seems to be an error indicating an invalid wsdl location. We have used the super class Exception, in try-catch block for handling of the exceptions. Please see the log message.

Tamim KhanHi Kevin,
Thanks a lot for the response. But, when i deployed the composite SAR in to the server from Jdeveloper, i checked the option to "Overwrite any existing composite with same revision ID". SO, i used the same revision ID (Say 1.0), will this also need to be disabled?
Thanks,

Tns problem with Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.6.21 with Oracle Developer Tools
I installed the full
Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.6.21 with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio
now I am at the good old "[ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified]" error.
I copied the same tnsnames.ora as used on the db server
onto the client "C:\Oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\Network\Admin".
The host name is right since a normal ping works. TNSping is not available.
but I get the [ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified] error.
The listener is running and the instance as well since it all works on the source server.
I tried it with
SET path=c:\oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\bin
but tnsping is still not recognized.
sqlplus works on the other hand when I set it to
SET path=c:\oracle\product\11.1.0\client_2\
what is going on...hey
u can post your query here, and i think everyone here is to share opinion so do not hesitate to do so and please try to google before posting here,
and we know no one is expert like some people saying 'boring questions' you just try to overcome your problem and you will definitly get your problem solved .
some mpeople ar still there who answeres hopeless questions and say nothing about them but when a fresher askin a qustion is not tolarated by them they think everyone is born DBA here
they always tend to discouraging people here on forums, and i think they are vvolunteers to reduce crowd here on forums, inspite of there experience and people respect them they can not control their anger
so please post you tns here, i think there are ways to ask people to google and search docs first, but not like this
thanks and regards

OGG-00868 SQL Server 2008 has problem with ODBC in the EXTRACT process
Hello Everyone
I want to replicate tables between MS SQLServer 2008 and Oracle 10g
I have Windows XP / MS SQLServer 2008 and Oracle Database 10g R 10.2.0.1.0 running on Red Hat Linux
I followed the steps from the white paper (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/datawarehouse/oracle-sqlserver-goldengate-460262.html)
and Installed Oracle Golden Gate Version 11.2.1.0.1 (for Linux) and the Version 11.2.1.0.1 32bits (for Windows XP)
I followed all steps of the white paper without problem and I could do the initial load in
the Oracle Database from SQL Server sucessfully.
But when I tried to set and start the Extract process from SQL SERVER
a error was generated in the file c:\gg\dirrpt\MSEXT.rpt and the process is ABENDING

JuanHello mb_ogg,
Yes, I had created a Data Source HR Driver= SQL Server (second Tab System DSN) and I also had tried with
the driver SQL Server Native Client 10.0 but I faced the same error.
The database by default is EMP
Below is my configuration
Microsoft SQL Server ODBC Driver Version 03.85.1117
Data Source Name: HR
Data Source Description:
Server: JUAN-XP
Database: EMP
Language: (Default)
Translate Character Data: Yes
Log Long Running Queries: No
Log Driver Statistics: No
Use Integrated Security: Yes
Use Regional Settings: No
Prepared Statements Option: Drop temporary procedures on disconnect
Use Failover Server: No
Use ANSI Quoted Identifiers: Yes
Use ANSI Null, Paddings and Warnings: Yes
Data Encryption: No
I also clicked on the button "Test Data Source" with the below messages:
Microsoft SQL Server ODBC Driver Version 03.85.1117
Running connectivity tests...
Attempting connection
Connection established
Verifying option settings
Disconnecting from server
TESTS COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY!
Then I went to Database Properties (Right Click) /Oprtion and Recovery model field has Full value
I also made a Backup (Backup Type = Full)
The Backups was made to Disk: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Backup\EMP.bak
Today I repeated the same steps and I got the same error (I Copied at the end):
I also have the follow question:
Is necessary define the location of the backup of MS SQL Server to say to GG where it can get it?

Problems with JDev 11g using JBOSS and ANT
Hi,
I'm trying to migrate to JDev 11g with JBoss ( version 7.X ) as the AppServer
With JDev 10g all works fine with JBoss, even the Remote Debug, all OK
here is the problems I have :
1) ANT
JDev doesn't save my ANT settings
every time I launch ANT : Run Ant Target - I must set the Advance settings
JDev 10g I only need to do that once, the settings are saved but not in the 11g, why ?
2) persistence
I get this error when deploying to JBoss
16:34:50,967 INFO [org.jboss.as.server] (HttpManagementService-threads - 1) JBA
S015870: Deploy of deployment "prod_v0.0.1_iDigital.menu.ear" was rolled back wi

tdDS]"]}
it seems that is something related to dependencies not well configured during build stage of the EAR, but with 10g works fine
BTW, I can't run my project with WebLogic either, gives this error :

can someone give me a clue ?
thanks
Edited by: FernandoLeite on Apr 5, 2013 10:31 AMI can't say many about the ant stuff, but have you tried to put the parameters in a property file and use this to get the parameters to ant?
The reason you can't run the application on WLS is that you have not installed the adf runtime on your wls. The error 'application.xml: [Extension-Name: adf.oracle.domain, exact-match: false].' points to this.

Hello, i'm having some problems trying to connect to Oracle Database 9.0.1.3.0 trough ODBC, does anyone know how to do it, i'm create already an ODBC, and i can use it, but when i try to create a new one, it show an error message that says: "THE ORACLE (tm) CLIENT SOFTWARE AND NETWORKING COMPONENTS WERE NOT FOUND. THESE COMPONENTS ARE SUPPLIED BY ORACLE CORPORATION AND ARE PART OF THE ORACLE VERSION 7.3 (OR GREATER) CLIENT SOFTWARE INSTALLATION. YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO USE THIS DRIVER UNTIL THESE COMPONENTS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED.", and like i said before, i have an ODBC configured, but in the time that i want to make another one, dont let me do it. Please any information, will be helpfull. Thanks in advance.
Tutus,
The usual procedure to resolve an error is to look up it's description in online documentation.
Generally speaking, as we are volunteers, no one is going to look up errors on your behalf.
Also, this is not an Oracle error, but a Microsoft error, so you should visit http://technet.microsoft.com
You should be able to find
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/260558, just by typing system error 126 oracle in the search box.
this article explains you are probably working with incompatible DLLs.
As you are quite silent, on HOW you installed the 10g software, and whether you did set up the second Oracle Home correctly, this wouldn't quite surprise me.

Potentialy serious problem with Oracle 11g R1
Today i have download to try Oracle 11g , my system supports database system
requirerments and into installation progress my antivirus software find some troyan horses and my antivirus software is ordinary not powerfull .Do someone have the same problem?Yes, Trojan found in ott.exe. I believe this may be a false alarm because of its filename, which is the name of a known malware. Only some antivirus detected it.
Since it's just one file, use whatever your antivirus has for isolating it, or just delete it. -
hi, I tried to install OBIEE 11g but I have a problem in step 13/13 Creation domain failed, is that Oracle 11g database is required? or 10g is enough?. thank you
10g should not be a problem , works well on XE too
