Problem with onboard LAN

Hi,
I have the following problem: After playing around with overclocking and having to reset the CMOS a couple of times, my onboard LAN stops working even if I don't overclock anything. No ping, and the traffic LED is always on. And most interesting, when I shutdown my computer the traffic LED stays on. Is this a BIOS bug or what? Anyone experiencing the same problem?

Well as you know Overclocking Can sometimes Fry something, or Everything on the Board, This is why it is Dangerous....But Before we go there, I assume that you Have Tried Disabling and then Re-Enabling the LAN in the BIOS, And in the "Device-Manager"?......And do you have in the Device Manager (Under-Network Connections) the LAN Listed? And if Click on it, does it say "Device Enabled, and Working Properly"?....If yes, then You are going to have to try to Clear The NVRAM in the BIOS by Enabling this option, and this will Reset the PNP/PCI String, and Hopefully that will be it.....If not, Go into the Device-Manager, and Uninstall the Driver, then Reinstall it......Try that, and let us know, And if you already did all of these things, then You May have Bigger Issues................Sean REILLY875

This is the second pc I built with the exact specification and the first one didn't give me problem at all.
The only thing I did  different was select the option of Quick Setup to install the on board lan and audio at the same time and i did not install.
Can this be a Hardware problem?

  • H55M-E23 Problems with Onboard Realtek Gigabit NIC

I just finished a new build HTPC using the H55M-E23 and I'm having problems with the onboard Realtek Gigabit LAN controller.
System specs are:  OS is Windows 7 - 64 bit.  Intel i3-540 @ 3.0 GHz, 4GB RAM, 60GB SSD. NVIDIA GT 430 video card w/ 1MB RAM is only add in card. 300 Watt Power Supply.  NVIDIA card is the primary video card and is set up that way in BIOS.
Everything installed fine and seems to work great, except that when I watch HD video, stored on a local NAS on my home network (all gigabit, including cables), about half the time, the Realtek controller will drop to about 10 MBPS, which causes the video to stutter and lockup.  The video normally streams across the network at about 23 MBPS max.  All other PC's on my network play these videos (home movies) no problem.  CPU utilization on the MSI board is only about 5% and the video card's GPU utilization maxes out at only about 65% when the videos are streaming properly.  Also, I can copy the video directly to the SSD on this HTPC and the video plays fine.  So I think the rest of the hardware on the HTPC is sufficient to do what I'm trying to do.  The truly annoying thing is that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't work.
All the latest drivers have been installed for the motherboard, video card, and Realtek NIC (trying both from MSI's website and Realtek's with the same result).  The Windows installation is very clean.  I've wiped the SSD twice and done a fresh Windows install and tried this immediately after the Windows install has competed and all drivers installed and again after Windows has completed all updates and I get the same result each time.  I've tried several "slow network connection" solutions from Google and none so far have worked.
For anyone old like me, this acts like an IRQ conflict from back in the early days of Windows.  Of course Windows 7 doesn't let you mess with IRQ's anymore, at least that I can find.  BTW, Device Manager lists the IRQ for the Realtek NIC as "-2", which is very odd to me, but I'm no expert.  I'm at the point now of disabling the onboard Realtek LAN and buying a cheap NIC to see if that works, but wanted to try to see if MSI has any suggestions or should I RMA the board?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ben

Yeah, I agree that I'll need to upgrade the PSU anyway.  300W is marginal at best for this setup.  I would have probably been ok without the add in video card, but the GT 430 really makes a difference compared to the built-in graphics of the i3 and the card was so inexpensive that it was a no-brainer.  I may try to take out the GT 430 just to see if the Realtek NIC behaves better, but I think long term I'll just get a cheap PCI-e NIC and that should fix things.
I would normally suspect the SSD as well, but I get the stuttering when I'm using the network streaming.  The videos play fine when running directly off of the SSD.  I know the SSD could still cause issues, but everything just seems to point to the Realtek chip.  Honestly, I really think it's a driver / setting issue and not a bad piece of hardware, although I could be wrong.
If anyone has any other ideas, please keep 'em coming.  In the meantime, I'll try a new NIC, etc and let you know what I find.
    Thanks,
    Ben

I'm using my old generic 3com card in the meantime...but I might need that PCI slot.

  • Internet Connection Sharing with onboard LAN

    Hi
Does anyone know if it's possible to setup Internet Connection Sharing using the onboard LAN?  I've managed to get shared files and folders working, but can't get internet access on the client PC.
    Using the K8MM3-V
Windows XP Pro on both PC's
    I have 3 NIC's I can use.
The Host PC is using the onboard LAN to connect to the internet
I'm using a Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC in both the host and client PC's
The Host PC also has a NETGEAR FA312 Fast Ethernet Adapter (Currently disabled)
I'm using crossover cable and 2 NIC's method.
I don't have a hub, switch or router.
I've had it working before on Windows 2000 Pro, but can't remember how I did it.  (I think it just all worked straight away).
Anyonew knows if this is possible, please let me know.
    Thanks

  • SCMS problem with onboard optical bracket (875p)

I have a Sony MZ-R500 (minidisk) with an optical line in.
I also have some music I composed myself that I want to record on that minidisk.
The problem is that the SCMS is preventing me from copying the music to that MD. It prevents the copy of digital music to an digital receiver.
I know from users on an other forum that by example an Audigy2 does not have that problem because somehow it does not look at the SCMS bit.
Does anybody know how I can turn SCMS off with the onboard audio on the MSI 875p NEO FIS2R?

  • Problems with W-LAN 300 MBit

    Hi Community!
Does anyone know if there already is a solution for using the mac with a 300 Mbit Wifi? I had to disable the function of my router to get wifi work. The problem is already known since 2011 as i think.
It would be great to get an update for it!

Hi BDAqua, thanks for your fast respond.
My Router is a FRITZ!Box 7330 SL, the frequency band is at 2,4 GHz and the W-LAN standard is 802.11n+g+b. There is also the option to use 300 MBit radio channel. If i use this option the connection between imac and router cuts off after some time. And it is also working slower then without this option.
When connection gets lost i have to deactivate Wifi on mac and turn it on again. The connection gets back for a while and after a few minutes the same problem comes back. I already read about the problem that 300 Mbit is not supported on mac but is there already a solve?
My other Apple devices (like iPad) are working without any problems.

  • BATTLEFIELD 2 HELP! Problems with onboard Soundblaster Live 24-bit 7.1 in Battlefield

with the hardware sound option selected, the voiceovers are totally stuttery, but all other sounds come through well. The reason im posting is because i was wondering if anyone had found a fix for the stuttering. Apparently Creative doesnt care about its customers and hasnt fixed it yet, so if anyone knows a "hack" or driver edit to fix it, please let me know. The hardware option makes such GREAT use of my 7. as opposed to the Software mode. Also, if there is no fix, how can i disable the Voice overs, because the option in the Audio menu doesnt seem to do anything. Thanks.

I have the same problem and no knows what to do is it a msi k8v diamond motherbord

  • Anyone with onboard LAN based on the Qualcomm Killer E2205

I am considering a motherboard with an onbaord Qualcomm Killer E2205 chipset.  I have only used Intel in the past.  Does anyone have this hardware and have you experienced anything negative under Linux?  I can't find any info as to whether or not the kernel supports this natively...

There's native support, the alx driver, in the kernel since 3.10 I think, so it'll work out-of-the-box. Don't know anything beyond that, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work fine.

  • Lan, NAS, SMB problem with Lion

Hello I have 2 mac on which I installed Lion, unfortunately I have some serious problems with my LAN.
I have 2 NAS which I can not log in, one is STORA of the Netgear (which I hope will update) and an older (a FISC CHD by StoreTech I do not think the update)
... how can I do with it? Do not tell me that I must throw in a stupid update ... it's a NAS RAID 5 with 4 drives ...
I also have another problem with my multifunction printer Kyocera 250Ci, in practice I always use the network scanner so that I would send the files to inside of the machine by entering the IP address and shared folder ... without making any changes, after the installation of LION, the scanner tells me I can no longer find the way, I checked everything and rebuilt 100 times ... but nothing!! has the machine 1 month of life and costs a few thousand of € .... also this is absurd!
Someone can help me to find a way to use my device? SMB protocoll is the same in SL and Lion?
    Tank's a lot!!

    Hi everybody,
same configuration for me (exempt itunes 10.5.2) and same problem for me. I remember a time when it worked, all of a sudden, it stops. If I click on the shared library, the contents is displayed for a second and afterwards iTunes jumps back to main library. So, you are not alone, checked it also with a different user account, no change.
    Keep you informed,

  • Audigy2 problems with directx 9

I have GA-K8NNXP-940 M.B. with Realtek ALC658 onboard sound, running Windows XP SP2 w/DirectX 9.0c. I've been having continued sound problems with onboard ALC658 since DirectX 9.0c, so I uninstalled all the Realtek drivers and in the BIOS shut it down completely. I then bought a Creative Audigy 2 sound card, installed it, loaded the drivers, it worked for about a week then started to have the same difficulty as the ALC658 had. Now I my system shows the Audigy 2 in device manager, but wont play any sounds, and now I see other sound devices are listed of which I have no clue what or were they came from? Here is a list of the devices as they appear in device manager: Audio Codecs, Creative SB Audigy 2 (WDM), Legacy Audio Drivers, Legacy Video Capture Devices, Media Control Devices, and last Video Codecs. I have a DIRECTX Diagnostic of my current configuration can anyone help or make a suggestion as to what I can do next. I already have the latest drivers for all the devices in my system for Windows XP Pro SP2.

    Uhsul,
What you may want to try doing is to uninstall and reinstall the Multimedia section of the operating system. Under Windows XP this is normally hidden so you will need to edit the sysoc file to do this. Instructions on this are found here (in the section called "How to install/uninstall components that are not shown in the Windows Components):
    http://us.creative.com/support/kb/article.asp?l=2&sid=5339
Go into add/remove programs into the Add/Remove Windows Components tab. Multimedia is found under the accessories and Utilities tab. Take the checkmark out and click ok. It will uninstall the Multimedia portion of the OS. Reboot the system. When it comes back up go back to the same place and put a checkmark back into Multimedia. This should reinstall and hopefully give you your Windows' Sounds back.
