Problem with Oracle external procedures and Microsoft Active Directory

Hi,
Our server was recently updated to use Microsoft Active Directory. However, we noticed that all external procedure calls keeps on failing with ORA-28575: unable to open RPC connection external procedure agent. Everything was working fine before we migrated to Active Directory which is why we can say that the listener is configured correctly.
Any idea on how we can make extproc calls with Active Directory?

Oracle Forms does support Single Sign-On (SSO). Take a look at Oracle Containers for J2EE Security Guide: OC4J Java Single Sing-On. Also take a look at the Oracle Forms 10g Sample Code and scroll to the SSO demo under the Forms Services Demo section. There are also, numerous other documents available via Google. ;-)

Deploying Oracle Password filter for Microsoft Active Directory.

We created the Oracle Wallet w/ Self-Signed Certificate. When we setup the Oracle Password filter for Microsoft Active Directory from LDAP server. We are getting the error. Certificate is not valid.
Is this OK or Can we get the success message.

You can't ignore it. A valid certificate is important to make it work.

We are migrating our application to use windows active directory authentication. We have separate oracle account for
each logged in user in the application, and these oracle credentials have to be the same as the windows active directory
credentials.
Also, a password change on windows Active directory should change the oracle account password.
Is there a tool available to manage and synchronize the microsoft active directory and oracle account.
We use oracle 10g and application is hosted on Windows 2008 server.

There's an OOTB connector for Password Synch between AD -> OIM. Please use that.

Oracle Database Authentication against Microsoft Active Directory

Hello
Does anyone know if it is possible or can point me in the right direction of some documentation that discuss Oracle database user authentication against and Enterprise Directory Service, in my cases MS AD?
My environment consists of Oracle RDBMS 10.2.0.3 on Linux Red Hat AS 4. Our users connect in from Window clients. I would like to know if there is a way to autheticate users from Windows to the database using LDAP based (AD) authentication. In oters words how do I configure authentication to be done for "identified globally accounts"? I know that the identified by globally accounts require the use of the CN which I have done, but it seems like there is some piece missing. Perhaps an Oracle schema or modification to Active Directory??
So my questions are
1. Is it possible to authenticate users against AD without the implementation of OID?
2. Is there documentation someone has or can point me to that outlines the required steps?
3. Anything I should know?
I appreciate any help. The documentation I have found so far doesn't seem to be what I need... So I am looking for some advice.

Sure, two methods to auth from Oracle DB to MSAD:
OID and OVD
I am working on our own proof of concept configuring EUS connect to OVD with an MSAD as auth at the moment. OVD basically is presenting the database with OracleSchema and OracleContext info. And when you connect via netca (ldap.ora), you assign it as OID directory authentication type.

Problems with connecting external Hd and iPod

Hi all, I really hope someone here can help and this problem is driving me up the wall!!
Before i installed Mavericks i could simply plug in my 2tb WD My Passport external hd into my usb and use it how you normally would but since going over to Mavericks i get this message appear...
The only way i can use the drive is to keep it plugged into my Macbook and restart it and then i can use it as normal.
I've contacted Wd (who are pretty useless) and have followed the steps they've suggested such as backing up the drive and re-enstalling Mavericks. I've also re-enstalled the driver software from the Wd page but still i get this. I can plug the HD into my partners Mac and it works straight away.
And now recently I have the same problem when i connect my ipod classic into my Macbook. The ipod shows in finder but not in itunes. I've also took that back to factory settings and then re-enstalled it but again, I have to restart the computer to get it to show in itunes.
I've gone into disk utily and followed the repair disk procedure and that only goes so far then does nothing!
I'm no expert with all the tecnical stuff so please bear that in mind if you have an answer for me, thanks

Slow Problems with Oracle Forms 10g and Oracle Database 11g

Hi, I wonder if there is a compatibility problem between Version 10.1.2.0.2 32 Oracle Forms and Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production. This is because my application runs correctly on a version of Oracle Database 10g, and when we migrated the database to an Oracle Database 11g, slowness problems came out.

We have the same issue happening with our custom forms and with some of the standard forms in EBSO. So far we have found that the form invoking a view causes ridiculous slowness in opening the form (40 mins). Using a table access has shortened the open time significantly. At this time Oracle DBAs at OOD have no clear idea why it is happening.

Oracle Discoverer 10G and mapping Active Directory to use SSO/OID

Could anybody point me please to the right direction?
1. I've setup Oracle 10gIAS but turned off SSO and my users running discoverer /portals with no SSO.
2. My goal is to turn on SSO and synchronize it with Active directory on the windows box.

As you mention all notes refer to SSO&OID for Active Directory integration.AFAIK there is no way to do it, please log a Sr and confirm this wiht oracle support

Problems with Oracle, Apache, mod_ssl and firewalls - hang

Hi,
We have an Apache server as supplied by Oracle (1.3.19), serving both
static html and mod_plsql pages.
When the system is accessed via SSL and the Internet, it will tend to hang
after a relatively short time - especially if two people access at the same
time. This is seen at the browser as a page that simply fails to arrive,
there is no standard 'Page could not be found' type message.
A network sniffer seems to show that there is some continuing network
traffic, but the Apache error_log does not show activity.
If the system is accessed without SSL but still via the Internet then there
appears to be no problems and the system runs a lot faster than SSL +
Internet.
If the system is accessed with SSL but internally so avoiding the Internet
then there also appears to be no problems and the system runs faster than
SSL + Internet.
Our servers are running NT4 SP6.
Our firewall is Checkpoint NG running on Solaris (although we also
swapped in a Nokia firewall running Checkpoint 4.1 which had the same
results).
Any thoughts on what might be occurring, what we should be looking at
next?

Error with Oracle BI Publisher and Microsoft Excel

Hi,
I am using Oracle BI 10.1.3.3.0 in Windows XP. Whenever I am clicking on Login of Oracle BI Publisher Menu of Microsoft Excel, it is throwing me following error
Error: Could not get server version: Invalid procedure call or argument.
Everything is fine with MS Word. I have installed Analyzer for Excel Tool provided with th Oracle BI version mentioned above. I am having network installation for MS Office 2003. Can anybody give a solution please.

Problem with Oracle 9i disk1 and 2 zip files

I am able to download disks 1, 2, 3 but only disk 3 unzips without any problems. I've tried unzipping it with winzip and jar. I need the database so I can study for the oracle certs. I am downloading with a cable modem on a windows 2000 box. Any help would be appreciated. Is there a way to order a cd or something?

Mathew I had the same problem. I've installed successfully when i unzipped Disk 2 and Disk 3 files again. You should unzip disk 2 and 3 files repeatedly because they weren't saved on your hard disk. you thought you saved them on your disk but you should check again on your disk. If not found, you should try to unzip again. Hope this helps.

Problem with forms 5.0 and Controls Active X OCX

I need help about a OCX in a form made in Developer Forms 5.0.
The control connects a SQL Server Data Base , and when I use it in Microsoft Power Point it works good, I can see parameters
and what ever, but when I attach it

the dataBase but I can't work with parameters

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Note: Apple has removed over 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.
I hope you kept a backup copy of your original book as a Pages '09 document because Pages 5's changes once saved are permanent.
