Problem with oracle.forms.fd.JTextFieldTooltip
Hello there,
Using http://forms.pjc.bean.over-blog.com/article-5138880.html as reference i copied over multiline.jar and started using it in my forms. Tool tip gets displayed as desired but sometimes the help will not go away even if i go to other forms or fields.
I have to logout and log back in for it to not pop up.
Can anyone help me with this??
Thanks a lot.
Do I need another jar file for the multiline tooltip to work? I can not get the form to work. I get a java general exception. See below

Another Problem with Oracle Forms 10G
Hi Experts;
Previously I posted here a problem was having with Oracle Form, when I tried to execute it (Internet Explorer has closed this webpage to help protect your computer. A malfunctioning or malicious add-on has caused Internet Explorer to close this webpage) .
However, with the help of a good Buddy of this forum, I could solved the problem and my forms were running properly. But today, i don't know how it's giving me a new problem. When I choose Run Form, I get this error (website restore error. Internet Explorer has stopped trying to restore this website. It appears that the website continues to have a problem.)
Any suggestion to solve this problem?
Thanks for your help.
Regards
AlHi Aamir;

Slow Problems with Oracle Forms 10g and Oracle Database 11g
Hi, I wonder if there is a compatibility problem between Version 10.1.2.0.2 32 Oracle Forms and Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production. This is because my application runs correctly on a version of Oracle Database 10g, and when we migrated the database to an Oracle Database 11g, slowness problems came out.
Thanks.We have the same issue happening with our custom forms and with some of the standard forms in EBSO. So far we have found that the form invoking a view causes ridiculous slowness in opening the form (40 mins). Using a table access has shortened the open time significantly. At this time Oracle DBAs at OOD have no clear idea why it is happening.
we are on 11.1 database with 11.5 EBSO

Problem Querying Oracle Forms Using a Date Field and a Format Mask
Hello,
We are experiencing a problem with Oracle Forms that I was wondering if you can help me with.
We have several Forms that have single database blocks assigned to Oracle tables. The Forms are queryable and one of the fields we’re querying on is assigned to a field on the base table which is Not Null and has a Type of DATE. We are storing date/time information in this field on the database table. The item on the form is set up as a Date field with a Maximum Length of 7, a Format Mask ‘MMDDYY’ and having a Query Length of 10.
We’ve seen a discrepancy in how these fields are used to query the base table block. On some user’s computers they are able to enter a 6 digit date followed by the % sign (e.g. ‘091808%’) and they get the expected results. Other users get ‘FRM-40301: Query caused no records to be retrieved. Re-enter’. Do you know why we are experiencing this difference?
- The Oracle Database version we are running is Release 10.1.0.5.0.
- The Forms Developer version that we’re experiencing the problem with is 4.5.10.15.2
Thanks,
KrisThere is no obvious reason that I can see.
Version 4.5 is very old so you might have problems calling Oracle Support. If you can reproduce the same problem o0n 10.1.2 you should call have them analyze the problem. -
Oracle.forms.fd.JTextFieldTooltip problem
Hello there,
I have implemented multiline tooltip from the website http://forms.pjc.bean.over-blog.com/article-5138880.html.
If the text box height is set for single line(example 15), the tooltip and the text inside it is showing correctly. (Multiline property is set to True)
If the text box height is set for multiple line(example 45), the text inside it is showing in the 2nd line or the middle line and if the sentence is too big, cursor is not going to the next line.
If the null the implementation class property from oracle.forms.fd.JTextFieldTooltip to null, the text item behaves correctly.
Can anybody help please?

Creating timer problem in oracle forms
Hello,
I am using oracle weblogic 10.3.5 with oracle forms 11g at windows 7.I am trying to make a trigger but getting frm 40738 argument 1 to builtin GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY cant be null error. I am using code at when-new-form-Instance trigger:
declare
timer_id TIMER;
one_second number:=1000;
st varchar2(100);
begin
timer_id :=find_timer('CLOCK_TIMER');
If not id_null(timer_id) then
delete_timer('timer_id');
else
timer_id := CREATE_TIMER('CLOCK_TIMER',one_second,REPEAT);
--timer_id:=create_timer('CLOCK_TIMER',one_second,repeat);
st:=Get_application_property(TIMER_NAME);
message(st);
end if;
select to_char(sysdate,'HH24:MI:SS') into :EVENTS.CURRENT_TIME from dual;
exception when others then
message(TO_CHAR(SQLCODE)||''||SQLERRM);
end;
and at When-Timer-Expired trigger:
declare
timer_name varchar2(30);
BEGIN
timer_name := GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(TIMER_NAME);
IF timer_name = 'CLOCK_TIMER' THEN
SELECT TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'HH24:MI:SS')
INTO :EVENTS.CURRENT_TIME
FROM DUAL;
END IF;
EXCEPTION WHEN OTHERS THEN
MESSAGE(TO_CHAR(SQLCODE)||''||SQLERRM);
END;
Thank You
regards
aaditya.The problem is that you have a local variable with the same name as the CONSTANT "TIMER_NAME". Therefore, your call to GET_APPLICATION_NAME is passing the value of your Local Variable to the built-in instead of the value of the CONSTANT 'TIMER_NAME."
declare
timer_name varchar2(30);
BEGIN
timer_name := GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(TIMER_NAME);
IF timer_name = 'CLOCK_TIMER' THEN
Change your code so your variable TIMER_NAME is unique (different) from the constant TIMER_NAME variable. A common programming standard prefix your variable names with the data time. Following this concept, rename your variable to V_TIMER_NAME.

How to define the tab space in the PL/SQL editor with Oracle Forms 4.5?
When I use the PL/SQL editor with Oracle Form Builder, I found the tab space is very long that affects my programs readability quite a lot. Then, I tried to use Textpad to type my program. It looks fine with Textpad. However, when i tried to 'cut and paste' my code back to the PL/SQL editor, all tab spaces (approx. 8-character) are detected and the program looks awful again ~~ Would any one help me to solve my mentioned problem?
Thanks for any advices!In 4.5 you cannot change this. In Forms 5.0 and above there is a registry value DE_PREFS_TABSIZE which allows you to set a value for the tabsize.

Please Help: A Problem With Oracle-Provided 'Working' Example
A Problem With Oracle-Provided 'Working' Example Using htp.formcheckbox
I followed the simple steps in the Oracle-provided example:
Doc ID: Note:116534.1
Subject: How to use checkbox in webdb for bulk update using webdb report
However, when I select a checkbox and click on the Update button, I get a "ORA-01036: illegal variable name/number" error. Please advise. This was a very promising feature.
Fred
Below are step-by-step instructions provided by Oracle to create this "working" example:
How to use a checkbox in WEBDB 2.2 report for bulk update.
PURPOSE
This article shows how checkbox can used placed on WEBDB report
and how to use it.
SCOPE & APPLICATION
The following example to guide through the steps to create a working
example of this.
In this example, the checkbox is used to select the records. On clicking
the update button, the pl/sql procedure is called which will update col1 to
the string 'OK'.
After the update is done, the PL/SQL procedure calls the report again.
Since the report only select records where col1 is null, the updated
records will not be displayed when the report is called again.
Step 1 - Create Table
From Sqlplus, log in as scott/tiger and execute the following:
drop table chkbox_example;
create table chkbox_example
(id varchar2(10) not null,
comments varchar2(20),
col1 varchar2(10));
Step 2 - Insert Test Data
From Sqlplus, still logged in as scott/tiger , execute the following:
declare
l_i number;
begin
for l_i in 1..50 loop
insert into chkbox_example values (l_i, 'Comments ' || l_i , NULL);
end loop;
commit;
end;
Step 3 -Create SQL Query based WEBDB report
Logon to a WEBDB site which has access to the database the above tables are created.
Create a SQL based Report.
Name the report :RPT_CHKBOX
The select statement for the report is :
select c.id, c.comments, c.col1,
htf.formcheckbox('p_qty',c.id) Tick
from SCOTT.chkbox_example c
where c.col1 is null
In Advanced PL/SQL, (REPORT, Before displaying the form), put the following code
htp.formOpen('scott.chkbox_process');
htp.formsubmit('p_request','Update');
htp.br;
htp.br;
Step 4 - Create a stored procedure in the database
Log on to the database as scott/tiger and execute the following to create the
procedure.
Note: Replace WEBDB to the appropriate webdb user for your installation.
In my database, I had installed webdb using WEBDB username, hence user webdb owns
the packages.
create or replace procedure chkbox_process
( p_request in varchar2 default null,
p_qty in wwv_utl_api_types.vc_arr ,
p_arg_names in wwv_utl_api_types.vc_arr ,
p_arg_values in wwv_utl_api_types.vc_arr
is
i number;
begin
for i in 1..p_qty.count loop
if p_qty(i) is not null then
begin
update chkbox_example
set col1 = 'OK'
where chkbox_example.id = p_qty(i);
end;
end if;
end loop;
commit;
/* To Call Report again after updating */
SCOTT.RPT_CHKBOX.show
(p_request=>'Run Report',
p_arg_names=>webdb.wwv_standard_util.string_to_table2(' '),
p_arg_values=>webdb.wwv_standard_util.string_to_table2(' '));
end;
Summary
There are essentially 2 main modules, The WEBDB report and the pl/sql procedure (chkbox_process)
A button is created via the advanced pl/sql coding which shows on top of the report. (The
button cannot be placed at the bottom of the report due to the way WEBDB creates the procedure
internally)
When any button is clicked on the report, it calls the pl/sql procedure chkbox_process.
The procedure is called , WEBDB always passes the parameters p_request,p_arg_names and o_arg_values.
p_qty is another parameter that we are passing additionally, This comes from the checkbox created
using the htf.formcheckbox in the report select statement.
The pl/sql procedure calls the report again after processing. This is done to
show how to call the report.
Restrictions:
-The Next and Prev buttons on the report will not work.
So it is important that the report can fit in 1 page only.
(This may mean that you will not select(not ticked) 'Paginate' under
'Display Option' in the WEBDB report. If you do this,
then in Step 4, remove p_arg_names and p_arg_values as input parameters
to the chkbox_process)If your not so sure you can use the instanceof
insurance,
Object o = evt.getSource();
if (o instanceof Button) {
Button source = (Button) o;
I haven't thoroughly read the thread, but I use something like this:if (evt.getSource() == someObjRef) {
// do that voodoo
]I haven't looked into why you'd be creating a new reference... -
Using jfreechart with oracle forms 11g
Hi everybody,
I'm using jfreechart with oracle forms 11g to continue having graphs in my application since i'm migrating from forms 6i. I've already got it working and it's great. Just have one problem left. I don't know how to change the axis labels. In Bar charts, it comes with "Values" in y axis and "Category" in x axis by default. I wanted to change that or make it dissapear. Anyone knows how to?I've never used the jFreeChart, but according to their website you can use the "setLabel" method to set the label for an axis. Check out Axis (JFreeChart Class Library) for more information.

Enterprise portal integration with Oracle forms
Hi
Can anyone help me on this .
"Enterprise portal integration with Oracle forms".
I want to integrate oracle forms to EP .I am trying to work with app Integrator but I am not able to make any headway.Do you have any documents pertaining to this or any place where I can look for details.
Thanks
AlokHi,
i'm not aware of special integration feature with Oracle forms, but if as you said we are talking about a web application available via url then i see no problem doing so. the way you can implement the SSO is using something called Application Integrator which helps you build smart URL iView's that can use the portal framework (like systems, user profile , etc) , so you can build your oracle forms integration iView that will take the user password data from the portal (via system) using user mapping or sap logon tickets.
for more details on Application Integrator see
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/70/5a3842134bad04e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
regarding to the java applet, i don't really know what you mean by "jinitiator" but if your regular browser can do it then i see no reason for problems.
i hope it helps -
Incompatibility with Oracle Forms and Oracle JInitiator (1.3.1.22)
Hello,
I've detected a problem that I don't know how to solve or if it's in my hands to solve it.
In my company we're using a SAP EP as intranet and it is the default web page when we open the Internet Explorer.
The problem is that since we use the SAP EP as home page, when I try to open the url of an application delveloped with Oracle Forms (It's like a ritch client developed in Java. The first time you execute it, it installs the Oracle JInitiator and then it runs the aplication locally every time you call the web) it doesn't work. It shows a connection error (FRM-92102), but it seems that there is a problem with the JVM.
If you open the Internet Explorer (or Firefox) with other page as home page, then the application works correctly and without any problem, but if I open it after opening our SAP EP (or other link SDN, ...) it doesn't work.
Does anyboy know how to solve it or if is it possible to solve it?
Any help will be welcome...
Thanks in advance and best regards,
jc!Hello,
I solved the problem applaying SAP Note 791765 (Mixed JSESSIONID Cookies from Different Servers)... I followed this steps:
1. I opened Visual Administrator
2. I went to servlet_jsp
3. I changed the property JSESSIONID.CookieDomain value from SERVER to NONE.
4. And I restarted the J2EE.
After that, JSESSIONID cookie is stored for the fully qualified name of the J2EE and it doesn't interferes in other domains...
