Problem with Paintbrush/Eyedropper CS3

I apologize for the repost, my first time I posted it in the CS6 forums and was kindly directed here.
I have the full CS Suite 3 and my issue is with the Photoshop aspect. It has worked for me beautifully for many years and, unfortunately, has come into a problem recently. When I select a color using the eyedropper tool (sample size 3 by 3 Average) it selects the color. Then, upon attempting to paint that color, it uses a color that is washed out by comparison. It selects the right color but the paint brush (I'm using the standard, 27 pixel soft brush, normal mode, 100% opacity, 100% flow) will not paint that color. It looks like it's adding more white to it or adding a muddled grey color. I'm not amused with this at all.
I'm not certain whether it is my having accidentially hit something as to make this happen or if it is the program glitching. I uninstalled and reinstalled and, unfortunately, am still finding the problem. I will try uninstalling and reinstalling again (this time deleting all the preferences) to see if that may fix it. It does this with multiple images (all .psd files, multiple layers) so I know that it's not the single file being corrupt. I really hope someone can help me because I'm about ready to throw my CPU in the trash and set it on fire.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you can be

Hi mctreeburger
May be you can try this option.
While opening Illustrator hold the Control+Shift+Alt and click the icon. It resents to all your default settings.
Remember that you may lose  your custom keyboard shortcuts. It comes just like when you install CS3 first time.
Hope it works fine, try and let me know.

  • Problems with paintbrush in Lightroom

    I have a problem with the paintbrush tool in Lightroom 3.0. When I use it on one area of a photo, for example to decrease exposure there, suddenly in another part of the photo the exposure will increase and look blown out, without me putting the paintbrush anywhere near that area.
    Any ideas?

    Have you tried deleting the preferences?  See Preference and other file locations in Lightroom 5.  Note that on more recent versions of Mac OS, you should reboot after deleting the preferences, since the operating system can cache them.

  • Problems with viewing in CS3

    I am using Dreamweaver CS3 on a MacBook and have recently started experiencing frustrating problems in using Dreamweaver.
    Very recently I am now no longer able to see the current CSS displayed for the element I wish as when I click on it at the bottom of the page, it will only display an element further up the hierarchy (see screenshot http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/651/screenshot20120224at093.jpg/) . You can see that I would like to see the details for ul but it won't show anything but #mainContainer.
    I am also experiencing other problems on some (not all) sites I work on such as text and images disappearing in design view. I can get them back by toggling the show CSS button but it is getting very annoying as I have to do this after nearly every change I make.  I have read other posts about this problem on this forum as I am not the only one and have tried repairing fonts as suggested but it hasn't made any differnce. The sites where I seem to be experiencing this involve jQuery sliders and galleries so am not sure if there is some kind of conflict here.
    I have reinstalled Dreamweaver this morning to see if this would cure my problems but unfortunately it hasn't.
    I would really like an answer to my first problem of not being able to view current CSS as I think this is a Dreamweaver issue and nothing to do with any coding as such but mention the other problem in case it is related and also hoping for a resolution for that as well.
    Many thanks
    Lisa

  • Problems with pressure sensitivity CS3

    Hiya! As my title says, I'm having problems with pressure sensitivity in CS3. I use an HP Pavilion tx2000 (or, more specifically, tx2115nr) hybrid tablet-PC. I used the help feature to see if my brush settings were set correctly...but it seems that CS3 just isn't registering that I'm using a tablet at all (it shows a little yellow caution triangle warning that I need a tablet for the pressure-sensitive settings; I'm not sure if it's supposed to do that or not). I used a (sorely outdated) version of Photoshop that worked just fine with my tablet-PC, and I find it rather discouraging that CS3 isn't working...can anyone help me solve this problem?
    If I'm missing any necessary information needed to help solve this problem, just lemme know and I'll post it ASAP.

    I have an nvidia chipset with an nforce motherboard...I don't know how to check who made my screen, though.
    The only way I know how to check if my drivers are updated is through Windows Updates...the only update I have that's not language packs is an update for Wacom (it says "Wacom - Input - Wacom USB Touch"), not really sure why though since I don't have a Wacom tablet, just my PC...anyway, I'm going to update and see if that solves my problem.

  • I am having problems with my Dreamweaver CS3 installation

    I called adobe for help and was connected to technical support. My issue is that I am unable to reinstall dreamweaver (CS3web premium) and the tech person told me that my cd was corrupt. His instruction was to drag all my adobe apps , which, apart from dreamweaver, worked fine, to the trash. when i attempted to reinstal all I got an error message, missing resources. At this point the tech person told me that I would have to upgrade as all of my app licences had been cencelled by dragging to trash.
    This is a tremendoes disservice and if it represents adobe policy it will ultimately destroy adobe.

    You receive an error message regarding missing resources when you try to install?  To locate the exact source of your installation error I would recommend you review the installation logs.  You can find steps on how to accomplish this at Troubleshoot installation with install logs | CS3, CS4 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-installation-install-logs-cs3.html.

  • Problem with updating links CS3

    Greetings.
    I've been using InDesign for sometime now, so I'm not a newbie.  Recently something changed in CS3, probably at my urging, although I have no idea what I did to do it.  I want to UNDO it.
    I work on training publications.  The manuals have either jpg or png's of a powerpoint presentation as graphics within the document.  My process in the past is to place the first slide, format it, size it, etc. as I like it.  See below:
         1.  Place Slide1.jpg
         2.  Size and apply style to Slide1.jpg
         3.  Copy formatted & sized Slide1.jpg
         4.  Paste
         5.  Relink to Slide2.jpg
         6.  Repeat 4 and 5.
    Has worked well for me until last week.
    I was on a rush project that had a zillion of these slides.  I placed my first one, did the formatting, copied it, pasted it, went to relink it, and the original changed also.  I went through the help files, couldn't find what I wanted.  If I relink any slide that is remotely related to the original copy and paste, they all change. So I tried dragging it to a library, and dragging it out each time, relink.  It worked.
    Today however, I have a new training manual, did the original process, sure enough, the original changed with the copy.  Dragged the png to the library, and did the process.  Now the slides taken out of the library when relinked, all change to the relink.  They won't remain as their original link.  This is driving me daffy.
    I have looked at the Link options, I have tried showing the import dialog for the original place, nothing says "link all subsequent copies and irritate the computer operator"
    I don't want to have to place and size each slide.  I haven't found that Object Style will take care of the size issue.  Only the formatting.  One of the reviewers is the type that will take a ruler and measure each to make sure they are all the same size (I know I know, but its government work, what can I say)
    Anyone come across this or know what setting I screwed up?

    I knew it had to be something like that . . . duhhhhhh.
    thank you!!

  • Problem with Updates I-CS3

    Every time I try to install an up date for Illustrator CS3 I get the following message...
    "Updater did not Worked"
    Yes, "did not Worked".   Must have been created out of the coutry.
    Running Vista on a PC.
    Why can't I install updates.
    Cheers!  Phil

    Sorry that my solution lead you to all this work in vain - for me re-installing always did the job.
    It looks like there are some updates available. Maybe the associated help files give any hints about what you can investigate next:

    Have you already called the support number? These guys should assist you with questions like yours.

  • Problem with AIR Flash CS3 Italian version

    I have installed the Adobe AIR update for Flash CS3 italian
    mac version but in the welcome screen I don't see the Flash File
    (Adobe AIR) preset.I know about the fix that consists in deleting
    the folder HD:/Users/<username>/Libraries/Application
    Support/Adobe/Flash CS3/<language>/Configuration/StartPage
    and I did it, but the problem remains. Now what should I do?

    Hi Alessandro,
    Please try rerunning the Adobe AIR Update for Flash CS3 to
    see if the problem can be solved.
    If after running the updater again and it still doesn't work,
    the workaround is to create a Flash 9 (ActionScript 3.0) fla. Then
    selecting Commands > AIR - Application and Installer Settings
    and Flash will ask if you want convert the publish settings to
    Adobe AIR, click yes.
    Thanks,
    San

  • Some strange problem with Flash/As3

    Hi,
    I am having some strange problem with my flash cs3.
    Whatever script I write in as3  doesn't work, even a stop() function doesn't work . But when I change my publish setting to as2 it works fine.
    Not sure about the root cause, may be some setting or preference or my cs3 is corrupted.
    Can anybody please advise.
    Thanks,
    Kishor

    try this
    create a new fla as3,
    select frame 1
    open the actions panel
    paste in the following code
    var squares:Array = new Array;
    setup();
    function setup():void {
        for (var i = 0; i < 25; i++) {
            var square:Sprite = new Sprite();
            //square.name = "square" + i;
            square.graphics.beginFill(Math.random() * 0xffffff);
            squares.push(square);
            squares[i].graphics.drawRect(0, 0, 100, 100);
            squares[i].x = i*3;
            squares[i].y = i*3;
            squares[i].filters = [];
            square.graphics.endFill();
            stage.addChild(squares[i]);
    for (var j = 0; j < squares.length; j++) {
        squares[j].addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, dragMovie);
        squares[j].addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, dropMovie);
        squares[j].buttonMode = true;
    function dragMovie(event:MouseEvent):void {
        event.target.startDrag();
    function dropMovie(event:MouseEvent):void {

  • Problem with missing links.

    Hi,
    I've created similar topic in InDesign Server Developer forum section (http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b70e8d). I post it here having hopes of possible solution in the range of scripting.
    Company I work for is developing web application that processes InDesign documents (we use CS2 and CS3 servers).
    We experience problem when users upload documents containing external links to some network paths and these network paths are inaccessible from our server. In this cases performance degrades drastically. For example document with 20 external links to network paths is opened by InDesignServer by 7 minutes, while the same document with external links to some local path is opened within 5 seconds.
    I suggest that this degradation is caused by time InDesign Server is trying to access network path to check status of the link, as it can take a lot of time to assure that path is invalid.
    Does anybody if I can do something via scripting to avoid that link lookup or make it shorted, and preserve that links in the same time?

    hi all,
    > Does anybody if I can do something via scripting to avo id that link lookup
    > or make it shorted, and preserve that links in the same time?
    it's definitely a timeout problem. indesign tries to access these links.
    i've the same problems with indesign desktop cs3 last occurrence with 5.0.3
    haven't tested with 5.0.4.
    haven't found a solution yet, but would greatly appreciate one!
    regards,
    gregor

  • Problems Re-Installing Adobe CS3 Illustrator

    Hello,
    I was having problems with Adobe Illustrator CS3 and Acrobat. Specifically making pdfs from InDesign (which contained illustrator eps). I took out my Illustrator CS3 preferences and threw the application in the trash. Now, even though I purchased the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium, I can't re-install Illustrator. I have a job that must go out on Monday and need to get this fixed. Adobe Photoshop works fine and so does InDesign. Acrobat is still problematic. I believe this Adobe Creative Suite Design Premium is an upgrade from a CS2 Premium. I no longer have the CS2, having thrown it away.
    When I try to install Illustrator off my CS3, the application seems to be working for a while, then it asks me for a CS4 disk (which I don't have and never purchased).
    Can someone please help me?
    Best,

  • Anyone else having a Problem with Leopard and Photoshop CS3?

    I'm using CS3 with Leopard 10.5.4 at work and there are some very aggravating anomalies, that I'd like to nail down to a cause. Most frequently, when switching from apps to P'Shop, the menu bar stays for the previous app, i.e. when going from Finder to P'shop, the menu bar still says Finder and has Finder options. Changing from Lightwave to P'Shop, the menu bar remains Lightwave.
    Occasionally, an Adobe app - P'Shop or InDesign - will simply disappear and not come back. The icon in the dock shows it as active, but no amount of clicking, Command-Tabbing will reveal the app and I have to Force Quit, losing unsaved changes.
    I have a feeling it's Leopard, since, I've used CS3 on Tiger and CS4 on Tiger and never had a problem.
    I'm wondering if upgrading to the latest Leopard would make much of a difference.
    Has anyone come across this and found any kind of answers?
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    -Vincent

    > Just because it doesn't happen to Phil (who may not use all of the same features of the Suite that others do anyway) does NOT mean that these problems are not real and are not mere PEBCAK.
    Right. If someone is having a problem associated with Tiger, it's PEBAK. If Leopard is involved, it's automatically because of Leopard. Apparently, with Apple's latest OS, trouble shooting problems are no longer necessary - just blame it on Leopard and call it a day.
    b FUD
    I find the dynamics here really interesting. This thread would have been very different if Vincent had posted with problems involving Tiger. Would have gone something like this:
    After admonishing him for not providing more information about his setup by posting the obnoxious big blue link on how to ask questions (ahem - we know NOTHING about his machine or configuration, such as which machine, how much RAM, scratch disk or attached peripherals), there'd be all kinds of trouble shooting advice given - "try a new user", "repair permissions", "run DiskWarrior, and on and on ...
    But no, since he mentions Leopard, none of that is apparently necessary and the completely, utterly
    b irresponsible
    advice is given ... "that's just the way Leopard is".
    Those are some serious problems he's reporting that have nothing to do with Leopard. Something is obviously hosed!
    As for discounting my experience because I don't use every app in the suite as extensively as I do Photoshop, I'm FAR more qualified to discuss Leopard and CS issues than Ann or Neil who do not use Leopard at all (and have never used it as far as I know.)
    "Others have problems with it", is their battle cry but it's extremely weak. Do I really need to remind you all that these forum are ALWAYS filled with people who have problems, regardless of version or OS? You act as if this forum was a ghost town when Tiger and CS3 were current!
    Gee, Ann ... people are STILL reporting problems with 10.5 and CS3? How shocking! Guess what - people are STILL reporting problems with 10.4 and CS3 too! Let me make a prediction - people will have problems with 10.8 and CS9!
    Vincent-
    > I don't really deal with fonts anyway ...
    Yes. You do. Even if you never type a single line of text, every application uses fonts to create menus and other GUI items. If one of those fonts are bad, it can create all kinds of problems, including the very problems you mention.
    The fact that you don't seem aware of this and you're still using 10.5.4 leads me to believe you're not familiar with the basic practices of maintaining a healthy system. Again, how did you install Leopard on that machine?
    Look, if you're simply trying to justify using CS4, go right ahead. It's a worthwhile upgrade in it's own right. However, if you install it on that machine in it's current state, CS4 will NOT fix your problems because you do NOT have a healthy system.
    You asked for experiences with Leopard - I can launch every application in both CS3 and CS4 suites
    i simultaneously,
    and STILL not have your issues. I haven't experienced anything like your CS3 problems in Leopard - on both a 2006 Mac Pro and a 2008 Macbook.
    If you'd like help to try and figure out the real problem, I'm more than happy to help. If not, Adobe will gladly take your money ...
