Problem with photomerge exposure

I am trying out the trial version of PSE 8.  When I try to use photoexposure merge, the program will merge the two photos perfectly, but when I click the Done button, I get a Runtime error box saying the program has to close.  This has happened twice with the exposure merge, but did not happen with group picture merge (although the group merge failed to merge the pictures twice when I clicked done, then succeeded the third time I tried).  I am using Windows XP.
Thanks, Terry

Rebooting worked; thanks again for the suggestion.  Being new to the forums, I cannot figure out how to indicate on the discusson web page that my question has been answered.

Subject: Problem with photomerge exposure
Photomerge Exposure has a bug with images larger than 10 megapixels, but yours are smaller than that.  The known symptoms are different too (the automatic alignment fails), but with bugs, you never know.
Have you tried rebooting your machine?  Photomerge Panorama sometimes behaves erratically and rebooting sometimes appears to make the erratic behavior go away.

  • Problem with Photomerge Exposure, Photoshop Elements 13?

Problem with Photomerge Exposure, Photoshop Elements 13?. Why does Photomerge Exposure not give me a finished DONE photo. If I open 2 photos, it will merge then, and when I press DONE I get a new photo file that I can save. However, if I open 3 photos, and go through the same process, the software analyzes the photos, I get a new image, BUT when I press DONE, the new image vanishes???? I can open the same 3 photos in Elements 8 and it works fine. any ideas please.

I, too, am having problems in version 11 with Photomerge Exposure.  I can merge the 3 photos successfully with version 10.  In version 11 when I click done, I am taken back to the Expert mode of the Editor but the merged photo in the photo bin is not accessible.  When I first return to the editor, one of the original images (before merge) is selected.  When I double/click on the merged photo it doesn't become the active image.  In fact, any image I double click on momentarily becomes the active image and then jumps to another one.
The merged photo is visible in the photo bin but I can't select it.
I am running version 11 on my MacBook running OS 10.6.8

  • Problem with Photomerge after Update CC

    Hi Guys,
have anybody the same problems with photomerge out there since new PS CC update 6 days ago?
Photoshop cant stich the pics. PS missed the last step "nahtlose komposition erstellen".
    What can i do?
    System:
    Mac Pro (2013) *whoop whoop
    Regards
    M

I finally found how to resolve this bug :
    Delete those 2 files :
    > MACHD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdater
    > MACHD/user/(nom de session)/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdater
Then, delete the creative cloud application & reinstall from here (France) > https://creative.adobe.com/fr/products/creative-cloud
Everything is ok for me with the full new update CC 2014 now.
    Good luck+++

  • Olympus E-500 raw file problem with long exposures

    Hi,
This topic has come up before, but wasn't resolved. Maybe its somewhere else, but I can't find it.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4994383&#4994383
Raw files from my Olympus E-500 with exposures over 3.2s come up with overexposed looking previews in Aperture. I think there is some automatic noise reduction (dark frame) info in these files, since they are 16.68Mb instead of the normal 13.47Mb. Apparently Aperture doesn't know what to do with these larger files.
Is there a known way around this within Aperture? The files open fine within Olympus Master 2 and Raw Photo Processor.
I've pasted a screen shot here with some links to raw files:

Yea, I've had that issue also and figured out the DNG workaround. Filed a bugreport with Apple on Nov 2nd, 2006. It sat with what looked like no attention right up until I got an e-mail on Oct 26th, 2007 (notice the date) saying that the issue was fixed in 10.5. I had already preordered Leopard so was hoping this was right. It wasn't. It's still borked. Logged notes back into the issue saying it wasn't.
Perhaps if more E-500 users report this it'll get more attention.

  • Problem with Photomerge group

    Hi,
I'm trying the photomerge group. When I have finished,I click on "Finished" and the I am back in the main menu with the original photos. Where is the merged one ???
    Thanks

I, too, had some problems when using Photomerge Group Shot to demonstrate it when I was using version 11.  In versions 9 and 10 (using the exact same image file) I had a very neat merge.
Last Saturday, it didn't line up nearly as well.
Could this be a shortcomig in 11 when this "trick" was moved from the guided mode to the "Expert" mode?

  • Problems with Photomerge in CS4

I'm using Photoshop on Vista 32. When I try to do a photomerge either from PS or Bridge, it does its stuff, then closes everything immediately. Reboots / changed options make no difference. Any ideas?

    ME TOO.
PhotoMerge appears to have been broken in the move to CS4.
Whilst I am glad that PhotoMerge in CS4 is working for SOME, on my two main, quite different, XPP/3/32bit systems (one with supported 3D card, one without) I have been unable to get CS4 to create ANY panoramas.
In CS4, as shipped in the 'Master Collection', attempting to merge only two images that, on the same systems [right now, TODAY!] are merged by CS3 (and ptGUI, and APP) results only in a series of processing msgs during which a file named something like "unnamed_panorama1" appears as a tab. When processing stops, that tab vanishes. Sadly, no trace of this file is seen in the recent file list, nor anywhere on the hard-drive.
Yes, Default Photomerge entries are being used (as well as all possible combinations of geo-correct, vig-removal, various projections etc).
Repeating this merge attempt with 'tab view' disabled results in the same sequence (only the evanescent image is a free floating one).
Initially, my thought was that this was because I had not yet 'activated' CS4. Sadly, 'activation' produced no change: Images are energetically being processed, but the final result disappears.
Copying the 'manually align' option from CS3 into CS4 results, at the end of various processing messages, in an ErrMsg popping up saying that "CS4 was unable to automatically align 'some' images.
Um, there were only two images, and was not the point of selecting 'manually align' images to MANUALLY align images?
CS4 then displays a completely transparent "untitled_Panorama1" image and LOCKS.
Random clicking on the interface produced a "This program has ..." error (I saved the error dump, if anyone from Adobe is interested) and died.
To re-iterate, I have yet to be able to create the simplest two-image panorama with CS4 on two, quite different, XPP/3 systems.
This failure is with images that CS3 has no trouble with on these same systems, at the same time as CS4 fails.
    Something is clearly wrong here.

  • Problem with photomerge in CC

    Hello,
I dispose of 11 pictures that I can easily photomerge with CS6 to a perfect panorama.
With the same pictures I can not do it in CC ... not even with 7 of them.
I succeed doing it with five only ...
Can someone tell me what's going on ?
    Best regards,
    ji-em
P.S. I just succeeded photomerging 7 pictures but only when
done in Auto. But I would like to do so in cylindric way ...
    P.S. 2: Some more details.
    11 pictures taken in RAW with a Nikon D4 + 300 mm f 2.8
All pictures were first developed in ACR.
    No accentuation of sharpness applied.
    Noise reduction appliend.
    Objectiv correction applied.
Then all pictures were opened in CC via Bridge CC (photomerge).
After ca. 30 Sec. the program collapsed ... again and again.
I tried this workflow with different series of pictures. The all
worked fine with CS6 ... but CC did never manage to do it.
Really wondering if someone here can help me ... ?
    Thanks in advance ... anyway.

hello - did you find a solution for this?

  • PROBLEM WITH PHOTOMERGE PANORAMA IN PSE 12

whenever I try to use photomerge  panorama in photoshop elements , i get an error message :Error 48: File or folder does not exist. line :41. i have been trying for few days after retsarting my laptop and also updating the PSE 12

This means that the photomerege function is having difficulty reading the required scripts to run. Have you made any changes to PSE or installed any add-on's that may have affected the presets?
I think the best thing to do is to uninstall Elements and then re-install again.

  • Problem with exposure adjustment in Camera Raw

I'm a long time Photoshop user, currently on CS6. Recently I've been having problems with adjusting exposure in Camera Raw. For some reason, it now only works in full stops. Nothing in between works. Same problem with the adjustment brush.
I updated today to the latest version but the problem remains. All other adjustments are working as they should.
Can anyone explain what happened and how I can get back full funcionality?

I have found an acceptable solution to the issue (already posted in this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5920583#5920583 ) after invaluable tips from forum members.
The problems are indeed caused by the Nik plug-ins, and specifically by the Selective Tool plug-in. But you don't need to uninstall anything.
Solution: In your applications folder, choose Photoshop/Plug-ins/Google and you will find the various Nik plug-in folders. Add a tilde sign to the Selective Tool folder (like this: ~Selective Tool). Close Photoshop and open it again. Camera Raw should now be working without issues. The Nik plug-ins will lose some funcionality, but nothing really serious. You will have to manually duplicate a layer before using a Nik filter and the filters won't work with multi-layers. If you desperately need full funcionality, close PS, remove the tilde sign and open PS again.

  • Photomerge problems with CS4 and CS5

I am having all kinds of sudden problems with Photomerge that I never had before (with CS4).  I do very big files and have multiprocessor MacPro and 16 gigs of RAM and whether I use CS4 interactive or CS5 with the Ul plugin in 32 bit Photoshop is just crashing half way through the operations.  I am very annoyed that the new CS5 does not have interactive in 64 bit as any automatic function almost never does the merge properly.  But at the moment nothing is working with either Photoshop.
Any ideas and will Adobe implement interactive in photomerge in 64 bit?  I am a professional doing large scale pieced-together murals and need the interactive mode and in 64 bit to utilize all the RAM and the ability of the architecture of the system.

  • Help with Photomerge and how to do suggested solutions

I am using Photoshop CS3 on Windows XP and am having a problem with Photomerge working very slow, not working at all, and not being able to handle more than 2 photos (sometimes it won't even do 2 that have 25% overlap). I found these solutions in a previous thread.
Solution 2: Increase the amount of scratch disk space available to Photomerge.
Solution 3: Decrease the size of the source files.
Solution 4: Reduce the amount of RAM allocated to Photoshop in the Memory & Image Cache Preference to approximately 40-50% and retry.
Can someone tell me if these solutions are correct? If so, how can I do these? If not, what can I try? If I could get detailed instructions (I don't know anything about computers) that would be the best. Thanks in advance for any help!

I have often scanned LP album covers in segments, at 600 ppi, and used Photomerge to meld them together. That results in images that are roughly 7200x7200 pixels, or 50 megapixels. Photomerge is pretty quick, given the size of the files.
But yeah, you may need to reduce the resolution of the files you are scanning. You may be scanning at 1200 ppi or higher. For text, I don't think I'd go much below 600 ppi if you want a really clear reproduction, and scan in grayscale or RGB, not the "text" mode, which is 1-bit bitmap and will not likely work well with Photomerge. Turn all descreening or sharpening options off in the scanning software; likewise, turn off all exposure wizards and expose all images at the base manual settings (don't use the scanner software's curves, etc.). You will take care of the exposure, sharpening, descreening, etc. in PS once you have scanned and merged.

  • Photomerge Exposure for Elements 11

I have had no success generating a new photo with Photomerge.  I would go through the steps of finalizing a picture, but when I click done it is as if nothing ever happend, and no new file is generated.  I tried this on two different computers with Elements 11with no success.  I am further frustrated that their is no phone number I can call to receive help since this was a time based project and needed to be done in that fashion.  Since we were unable to use Photoshop, it forces us to use a different source all together.  I have been very upset with how difficult photoshop is to use even though I have done in depth research on how to use the program.  I have seen that other people are having the same problems, but there was no solution that worked for me.  It seems this one is on Adobe to fix and maintain.

First, I missed entirely that your problem was with Photomerge Exposure - most PhotoMerge questions here are about PhotoMerge Panorama and that was my immediate response . Overlaps are important in Panorama.
Second, PhotoMerge Exposure is best on identical images with different exposures (e..g landscapes from a tripod mounted camera). From your description I think what you want is PhotoMerge Group Shot, that helps you take the best bits from multiple images to create a composite.
    Sorry to have misled you.

  • Probem with Photomerge in CS4

I am having a problem with Photomerge. I am trying to merge 5 raw images shot with a canon 1ds MII. I have tried to do this through Bridge, but have also tried Photoshop direct. As you can see from the image attached, the merge is not  seemless. All of these images were shot in manual mode at the same settings, only a few seconds apart. I have an HP desktop running windows xp. I have 4 GB or RAM. In preferences I was set at 60%, Any suggestions? I will try converting files to tif's and trying again, but so far, with raw files this is the output I am getting.
    Thanks,
    Ken

    Two things:
    1.  Your attachments never made it to the forum.  Please use the web interface.
    2.  Did you try enabling Vignette Removal?
    3.  Do you see this dialog during the operation of Photomerge?
I suspect there's something wrong with your images, or possibly a bug in your setup, if Photomerge is not making smooth blends.  As I mentioned, water is not good for Photomerge, as it changes from moment to moment, and details matter when trying to perfectly blend images!
I get very smooth blending with it, and have all the way back through Photoshop CS4.  Here's one example, right after Photomerge completed, with only Layer - Flatten and downsizing from 16310 x 6410 pixels:

  • Photomerge Exposure Problem.

Hi, to take a photo of a room, and the view through its window, and ensure they are both correctly exposed, Im having problems in Photoshop Elements 10. When I press Done to complete the task the colour of the room walls etc all look badly colour smudged. Ive tried several times to no avail.

I think that bug probably had to do more with some kind of exif data that pse 8 didn't like, as John mentions, rather than the actual file size.
(they seemed to have fixed that issue in pse 10 from experimenting with the sample images in the link you posted)
As an experiment i used three 25 mp images (6144x4085 pixel dimensions each image) in pse 8 in both photomerge panorama and photomerge exposure and
it seemed to work ok, so maybe your either running up against the exif data bug or if your using camera raw images they may be set to output in 16 bits/channel
which elements doesn't like. Of course ram and the amount of scratch disk you have available can also be factors.

  • PhotoMerge Exposure Alignment Problem in PSE8

    Hi,
I've read that PSE8 has a problem with aligning photos larger than 10MP using the PhotoMerge Exposure feature.
Does anyone know if this problem has been resolved in PSE10?
Reducing the photos seems to help but this is very time-consuming and takes lots of disk space.
    Thanks,
