Problem with Photoshop CS not loading image.

Hi, I recently had a hard drive problem and had it replaced. I backed up all my files on an external drive.
I moved over all my files and applications. Photoshop runs and opens with no problem.
The problem I'm having is if I double click on a .psd file it launches Photoshop but it do not open the file.
The program never did that before. Is there something that I did not copy over correctly?
Only way I can open a file is File>Open>
And I find that to be aggrivating.
I'm hoping I do not have to re-install Photoshop because I have my original software in storage.
Hoping for a quick fix.
Thanks

Be extremely careful  messing with your system settings.
In the Finder try  using Command I on any representative file. Then change "open with" to Photoshop, and then use the 'change all' button. If this does still not automatically open the file in Photoshop on double click, then make sure you have run  this application http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/onyx.html on your disk.

  • CS3 Photoshop will not load images

I have just recently run into a problem with my CS3 Photoshop. When I try to go through File> Open and choose a .jpg .gif and even .psd file I get an error message saying: ' could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document.'
When I open in Illustrator there is no issue. Or when I go directly to the file and use Open with, then direct it to Photoshop it opens fine.  However, if I need to open another image file I get the error message again. What can I do with this?

Try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

  • My mini (late 2012) 2.3 GHz i7 with 16 GB, not loading images after installing Java that I need to run FileMaker Server 12.

I'm running yosemite on a mini (late 2012) 2.3 GHz i7 with 16 GB, my problem is that after installing Java that I need in order to run FileMaker Server 12, apps like Safari, Mail or even App Store, stop working properly, the mayor problem is that NO images load and Safari start saying that the pages are not loading because the connection with the server stop working. The only way to fix it is to re-start the computer.
Any idea to resolve the problem.

  • Problem with photoshop automatically resizing placed images

    Hi,
I have PS6. I have images that are 144x100 px. When I use file>place ps resizes the image to 108x75. I can't figure out how to make ps quit resizing my pictures. Anybody know?
    Thanks

When Pasting, Dragging, copying and placing an image Photoshop will copy all of the image being duplicated original pixels to preserve the image pixel quality the image quality.  If the receiving document has a different DPI resolution the image may look a different size in the  receiving documents because of the number of pixels added to the document that has a lower or higher dpi resolution.  If the image is being placed in if the image pixels exceeds the receiving documents canvas size. Photoshop may scale the smart object layer to fit within the canvas that depends on the users Photoshop's preference.  All of the images original pixels are still there in the embedded object.   In my Photoshop Collage Scripts  I always transform all placed images to 100% size  incase Photoshop scaled the placed image.  For you can not get the scale percent Photoshop used.  Once I know I have the image at 100% size I can use the layer bounds to get the actual number of pixels there are in the placed image.  Once I know that I can calculate the scale I need to use to resize the image to fit the area being populated in the collage template.   Once resized I center it into place and mask off any excess image pixels.

  • PhotoShop CS2 not loading image

I've been working with CS2 for the past two years with no problem but as of last week, when I open my CS2 and try to open an image, the image does not display in my work area but it displays in my layers menu, nav menu, etc... Is there a setting that was accidentaly changed or did something else happen. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no luck.
    Any advice or suggestions?
    thanks

The image is probably off the screen.

Sounds like it's a problem with the Acrobat settings. Did you set them to the same resolution?

  • Firefox does not load images on any website. This has been a problem for years

It's not clear why. but only Firefox does not load images on web pages. Works fine on IE
Follow all the troubleshooting steps at
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Images_or_animations_don%27t_load
no of it works. Never has. I see this problem all over. It's the main reason that users don't switch to Firefox.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See [[Basic Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile]]
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox

  • Problems with Photoshop cs4 for the Mac

I am having all kinds of problems with Photoshop CS4 for the Mac.  When I boot the software it seems to work for a while then, I am unable to open upf a file in Photoshop.  I drag a photoshop file over the application icon, the whole screen flickers and nothing happens.  I am unable to quit Photoshop as the quit choice is grayed out and command-q will not make it quit. I have to force quit.  I can repeat this pattern over and over.  What is happening?  How do I solve this problem?
    --Kenoli

Thanks for the reply.  I am using  Photoshop 11.0.1.  I am using the latest version of Snow Leopard.  I have found both Photoshop and Dreamweaver to be pretty buggy for several versions now.  My suspicions were that they were really engineered for Windows and never really fully implemented for the Mac.  Dreamweaver crashes or hangs on me three or four times a day if I us it all day and does various annoying things like refusing to respond to the delete key after I have used it for a while.  I have pretty much stopped using it to some degree for that reason and also because there is other software that does a lot of coding things I do much more directly and simply.  Also Dreamweaver always seems to struggle to quit when I tell it to quit (that is, it takes a long time and gets hung up at places before it quits) and once it does quit, I always get a message saying that it has unexpectedly quit (even when I have told it to quit).
The problems with Photoshop  (starting with just taking a long time to load)  have escalated to the point I described today, which makes it almost unusable. I just reinstalled Snow Leopard to see if there was anything buggy in the system software.  I will report if problems go away.
Regarding both the refusal to open image files and the grayed out quit command, made me think something like you, i.e. there was some dialogue box open somewhere.  However, I couldn't find anything and I don't use two monitors.
So . . . Adobe just seems to be getting more expensive and more buggy.
Incidentally, why is it still running in Rosetta rather than natively?  Adobe now has a real Intel processor to work with.

  • Problem with Photoshop CS4 after migration to new Mac

I just migrated from an old Mac to a new Macbook Pro running Mavericks. I'm having a problem with Photoshop CS4. Specifically, two things:
    1) When I open an image in Camera Raw, I get this error:
    Fatal error - missing component
    /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Version Cue CS4/Client/4.0.0/VersionCue.framework
    2) When I try to save anything, it tells me it can't because of a program error.
I've looked around for a solution. Apparently I had to install Java, but that hasn't solved the issue. A couple of people mentioned that reinstalling would work for a similar problem. My problem with that is that my disk is on the other side of the world and my new macbook doesn't have a disk drive anyway. So I logged into my Adobe account hoping to see a download link for software I have licences for, but there isn't one.
So my question is firstly, whether there is a simpler solution to the errors I am getting and, if not, if there's a solution to reinstalling Photoshop CS4 without the disk.
    Thanks!

Did you use Apple's migration tool?  It misses a lot of support files, especially in the Application Support directories.
You'll have to copy those files manually, or reinstall the app.

  • Problem with Photoshop CS6. If I open a file using Camera RAW

I have a new problem with Photoshop CS6.  If I open a file using Camera RAW, and process it as usual, CS6 doesn't want to save it the way it used to.  I don't know if I changed something by accident or not.
Here's what happens now: After opening from ACR to CS6 and completinhg all of my work, I choose "Save as..."  The save as window opens showing the file name and format.  The default format seems to be .PSD.  I use the drop down to select .jpg.  The file saves normally as a .jpg.  When I go to close the image from, I get a new prompt asking, "Save changes to Adobe Photoshop document DSC_xxxx.NEF before closing?
I looked up at the file name in the bar above the work space and noticed that it does NOT change from "DSC_xxxx.NEF" to "DSC_xxxx.jpg" after I have saved the file as a .jpg,in my webesite  but it always used to do that.  This adds a few extra steps when closing a document and it really slows me down.
In fact, I wouldn't swear to this, but I think it used to save to .jpg by default, without me specifying this.
I don't see a setting in the preferences for what to use as the default file format for saving, so I don't know where to change it back.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance
