Problem with query database

Hi, gurus. Below is the lines of code i wrote for querying database, but the result i get is not presented correctly.
//conn is set up in another method
//getQueryOption(), getQuery() are two methods which return string repectively.
//getQueryOption() either returns string "title" or "key" which are two columns
//of a table in database. getQuery() returns the specific title or key that user

"SELECT * FROM assign2 WHERE " + getQueryOption() + " = " + getQuery());i think the problem is coming from the above code. could anyone point me out what's wrong with it? hope i explained it clearly. any help is deeply appreciated.

You should mention the problem that you are having, without the information all we can do is guess. My guess is that you are getting a SQL exception because you've not put last bit of your WHERE clause in quotes. If this is correct, the either use a PreparedStatement in place of a Statement, or change your Query string to:
"SELECT * FROM assign2 WHERE " + getQueryOption() + " = '" + getQuery() + "'");Good luck
