Problem with reception
I traveled abroad this summer right after I bought my computer. Before I left I could get perfect reception on my computer's wireless from anywhere in my house, and I could pick up other wireless at coffeeshops and such.
Upon returning I've found I can only pick up wireless for about 10 minutes and then it cuts out (and returns off and on every other minute), this happenes in my house and everywhere else. The problem is not in the wireless because everyone surrounding me can pick it up no problem, just not my computer. Airport itself won't see the wireless at all, but in my widgets my airport radar can pick up the signal full strength even after airport itself has cut out.
I can't find anything on the web about this problem...do I take it to the apple store and beg for mercy?
You could do that. Those genius bar people are knowledgeable. It would be easier for them since you would bring them your laptop.
It sounds to me like maybe your airport card became unseated or antenna connection became loose.

Iphone 3GS problems with reception, freezes, bugs, SIM Card
I have an all legit iPhone 3GS 32GB I bought last October in the Netherlands together with my subscription to T-Mobile. Everything went perfect until about 3 weeks ago when my iPhone would loose network connection, stay in "Searching..." limbo forever and end-up with "No Service". I tried everything from resetting my iPhone, my settings, to taking in and out my SIM card, to updating it with iTunes etc… It works for a while if I leave it on “Edge” without activation its 3G. But then, out of nowhere, it will ask me to unlock my SIM card, will freeze and stutter while I’m doing so. I would wait for some time before my iPhone will resume normal service (albeit still on “Edge”), by itself, and repeat this nightmare all over again the next day. I can also find it running iPod all by itself even though the iPhone is on sleep. This iPod "demonic possession" is generally a precursor of troubles to come.
Is my love affair with the iPhone coming to a very sad end? Or can somebody save our relationship? Please help!JamesAtkins wrote:

Hello! Can anyone help me with issues I am having with reception on my iPhone 5
My mobile says I have full reception,5 bars however when I chat to anyone on the phone the reception quality is dreadful. The person on the other end of the call can hear me fine but quality my end is bad. I'm not sure if the problem is connected to the phone or not but I live in the centre of Glasgow Uk and have never had any problems with reception until I got this phone a couple of months ago. My network provider is O2. Any help anyone could offer would be greatly received.
Sounds like you are getting interference from something locally. Talk to O2 to see if anything can be done.

Problem with airport express extending wifi from extreme
My setup is an airport extreme wired to the internet with two iMacs connected by wire and an airport express to extend wifi from the extreme to the further parts of my house. When originally installed about a year ago this arrangement worked perfectly, but I noticed a few weeks ago that neither my iphone, ipad, nor my MBP 13" is connecting to the aitport express anymore and the network extension is not working as intended.
Last night I investigated the isue and found that the express is connected wirelessly to my extreme because when I wired my MBP to the express and turned off the wireless connection it could still reach the internet. But, even with the express sitting plugged in next to my iPhone I could not get it to connect to the express - it always uses the extreme and while I'm in range there is no problem. The problem is that my house is old and the wals tend to cause problems with reception and I can't get wifi in the garden and some parts of the house.
I have the express and the extreme configured to allow access only by the client macs that I have provided and it looks like the two devices share this information when they are in extend mode (but not sure about that). When I set up the system I added the aitports mac addresses to the approved list in the access control screen, which seemed to be necessary then though I removed them (the airport mac addresses) fromt he list last night to see what effect this had and biefly the airport did connect to my MBP. But after returning it to its location where it usually is I have not been able to reconnect to it.
In brief; I have an airport express extending an airport extreme wifi, it used to work, but now all wifi clients will only connect to the master. I have a suspicion that a recent airport update has caused this (both airports are up-to-date) but can't be sure. I have the express correctly configured to extend the wifi of the extreme as it was originally working.
One thing I have noticed - I had the express set to use a fixed IP by setting 'static' in the internet screen - this is not the current setting (it's reverted to DHCP) and I cannot force it to update to and remain set to static.
Does anyone know how I can restore the correct functioning of the express as an extension of the wifi network?

DamonPerform the Factory Default Reset one more time. Hold the reset button until the amber light has been blinking rapidly for 8-10 seconds before you release the reset button
Run the setup wizard, and wait for screen similar to this to appear, then click on Other Options:
Select the Add to an existing network option, then click Next and follow the prompts.
If you are still having difficulty, try running the setup utility on an iPhone or iPad, since Yosemite has a number of bugs in the setup process. -
Problems with dropped calls and no reception on Samsung Continuum
My mother and I both purchased a Samsung Continuum in late March 2011, and have experienced the same problems with the phone. The device drops at least 2-3 calls per day, often on the same conversation; we have not found that location or time of day makes a difference. The phone freezes up frequently, even if no apps are running in the background. We lose our 3G network reception frequently, and cannot access our texts, emails, or the internet. The screen saver kicks in even when we are actively dialing a number, or typing in a text message. The overall performance of the phone is also poor, and it is quite slow much of the time.
We have raised this issue several times with a representative at one of the Verizon stores, but he states that he can find no problem with the phone, and that these issues may not be covered under our insurance plan. None of my friends with non-Samsung phones are having the same problems with phone reception and performance. I am aggravated enough with these issues that I am considering reactivating my old Blackberry, which worked like a charm.
I am not upset that my phone has not been updated to Android 2.2. I just want the phone to perform as stated, and not fail at its primary function: making and receiving phone calls. I am not certain if these problems originate with the phone, Verizon, or Samsung, nor do I care. I just want to resolve these issues as soon as possible, or I will have to look at other alternatives.

What carrier were you using with the Razor? AT&T? Same area?

There are major reception and battery problems with iPhone 3GS after upgrading to iOS 4.2.1.
I can not believe that Apple did not test this for major bugs like this one is.
I am a business user and can not effort to have bad reception. Apple wants to gain in the business clients... I never had this with my former BlackBerrys!
I need a reliable phone not a play thing like this is right now, it just needs it to work propely. And if a major bug like this comes along, fix it immediately. After the iPhone4 story, now this...incredible! Going back to my reliable BlackBerry! It just ain't reliable and takes forever to fix a problem.I have the same issue after iOS 4.2.1 update. I am using iPhone 3GS officially unlocked by Apple. I tried using different SIM cards and both carriers show same problem when using phone in 3G mode. Phone falls back to EDGE mode showing 'E' from '3G' at start. I have reset the phone and rebooted several times and moved to different cell areas in the city just to verify the problem.
I had no such issues earlier. I also have Nokia E71 which shows full signal and has no such issues.
I have posted the bug on apple iphone feedback page. I hope they Apple will fix the problem and test the release properly on all models before releasing to public. -
We have a problem with one gsm to sip gateway plugged to our UC520.
When called are made to the gsm module, the gateway redirects automatically the inbound call to an autoattendant on the IPBX.
The user is then supposed to make some choices to navigate in the autoattendant menu, but we noticed that very often DTMF is badly recognised.
The user has to insist on each key. Sometimes it can also not be sufficient to make the autoattendant to understand the choice...
We have the following :
GSM Gateway (2N Voice blue next) <----- SIP TRUNK (G711ULAW) -----> IPBX (UC520)/Autoattendant
The signal reception quality for the GSM module is average (-75dB). We have also a GSM to BRI gateway placed just nearby the other gateway and all is working very fine with this one.
Any idea ?Can you check the dtmf configuration on your dial-peers? Is this a Unity Express Autoattendant?

Still after update to 5.0.1 same problem with the 4S with dial out, connecting to internet, echo in reception. It is the second phone.
Try deleting the account(s) you're having problems with, resetting your phone (hold on/off and home buttons simultaneously 10-15 seconds until Apple logo appears, release buttons and wait for it to restart), then add back your mail accounts. I've read that this has worked for some.

Hi guys, i just got my iPhone 4s and sometimes the signal is lost and i have to restart the phone in order to get reception again. do you thing there is a problem with the phone or with the carrier? thanks

i get intermittent reception when I stream music from I Tunes via Airport Extreme and Airport Express to powered speakers. I Tunes continues to play uninterupted on the Mac. The problem does not lie with the Express as it occurs on both of my 2 Express at the same time. is this a problem with the Extreme?
Well, repying to my own post... Might have found the solution: I tried to do the same with a Macbook Pro 2010 using the very same setup. And it worked perfectly! No freeze, no nothing.
One explanation I see:
my iMac is dating back to May 2007, a Core 2 Duo 2,16Ghz with 2 Go of RAM.
So the computer's characteristics (or the Wifi component or the combination of all of this) might be not robust enough to allow streaming to those 2 devices...

I'm trying to learn how to correct wifi problems with new iPad. It is the wifi only, 64GB model. I want to be able to use it at work, where we have a great wifi network. I can usually connect to our network with no problem, but after an hour or so my iPad loses the network. When I try to reconnect, I see that the network is showing full strength reception, but I get the error message from the iPad that I am "Unable to join" the network. My iPhone connects to the same network seamlessly, as do all of the other iPhones of my co-workers and the older generation iPads that some of our staff has.
At other locations, I typically have no problems (home, apple store, etc.) but I have had the same situation pop up at a coffee shop where I could see that there was a wifi network available, but I could not join it even though it was the shop's free wifi.
I have tried turning the iPad off, turning off wifi and turning it back on again, and forgetting the wifi network in question. I can't think of any other methods that are available to an end user to correct the problem.
I have already gone to the Apple store to swap out the unit, and the newer one is having the same symptoms.
Can anyone offer any advice here? This is quite frustrating.No problem! Have a read at this most interesting article which has special significance as regards your models!

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

I just read about the possible issue that some folks are having with their new iPad wifi (my seemed to be running very slowly but I thought that perhaps it was just me overreacting). How do I know if I have a definite problem, and what is my recourse? Do I need to take it to an Apple store for testing? I have apple care which I assume addresses stuff like this. Thoughts? Your iPad is covered by the normal warranty for one year. If you have AppleCare that extends the coverage. If you feel there is a problem with your wifi reception visit an Apple store with your iPad for a consultation. Be sure to make an appointment before you go.

I have a problem with Swing and Threads, I hope you help me (because I'm in the firsts two weeks in my new job)
I have two classes:
Form1: Its a JPanel class with JProgressBar and JLabel inside.
FormularioApplet: (the main) Its a JPanel class with a form1 inside.
I have to download a file from a server and show the progress of the download in the JProgressBar. To make it I do this:
In Form1 I make a Thread that update the progress bar and gets the fole from the server.
In FormularioApplet (the main) I call to the method getDownloadedFile from Form1 to get the File.
THE PROBLEM:
The execution of FormularioApplet finishes before the Thread of Form1 (with download the file) download the file. Then, when I call in FormularioApplet the variable with the file an Exception: Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-1" java.lang.NullPointerException is generated.
First main begins his execution, then call to Form1 (a thread) then continues his execution and when the execution is finished ends the execution os Form1 and his thread.
How can I do for main class call the function and the Thread download his file after main class assign the file of return method?
How can I pass information froma class include an a main class. Form1 can't send to main (because main class made a Form1 f1 = new Form1()) any information from his end of the execution. I think if Form1 can say to main class that he finishes is job, then main class can gets the file.
I put in bold the important lines.
Note: My level of JAVA, you can see, is not elevated.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

I started to use Macbook recently. I found three annoying problems with Leopard 10.5.4.
1) cannot shut down. I have to press the power button to shut down the machine.
2) cannot wake from sleep. After enter password in the login window, the screen becomes dark and the mouse arrow is the only viewable object on the screen. I have to close the lid and log in again.
3) lost wireless connection when you browse the Internet.
I did some google and found I am not the only one who encountered these problems. Why Apple Inc. does not have cures for these? Does Jobs get annoyed by these problems too?
I always consider Apple a software company. Apple really should spend more manpower to improve its software.I'd say that your problems are very isolated. There are millions of Mac users out there and the majority of them have problem free experiences on the Mac.
First, there are a couple of things you can do. For the first two problems.
1. Repair permissions. Often when things go wrong, it can point to permission issues.

2. See if it is an account problem. Sometimes it may just be the settings in your account. Create a new one and see if the problems still occur
a) Go to Systems Preferences
b) Click on Accounts
c) Click on the + sign at the bottom
d) Create your new account
e) Log out of your current account and log in to the new one and try the things that don't work. If they do, it is a problem with your account.
3. Drastic Action - Re-install the OS. This is a last resort.
For the third problem, are you sure your wireless connection is still strong. Do you have all the "reception bars" in the wireless icon in the menu bar? Many computers (Windows and Mac) can have wireless reception problems. Sometimes cordless phones can interfere with wireless reception, as can very thick walls and water.

Problem with call forwarding. Calls can not be forwarded for incoming external calls

I have a problem with call forwarding. Everything was fine but now is not working.
In the reception of an office, the receptionist activate the call forward option to an internal extension. If somebody, internal in the office, call to the reception, the call is forwarding to the extension configured. But if I call from the outside (in example, from my cellphone) the call is not forwarded to the extension configured and continue ringing in the reception phone. Why this behavior? Any idea?
