Problem with refreshing pdf in preview

I have a pdf open in preview which I am generating using latex. Every time I generate it, preview takes me to the first page. But in Leopard, it used to stay in the same page, which was very useful in checking the changes I made to the pdf. Is it a bug or a feature? Very annoying though.
I preview preferences, I have checked "Start on the last viewed page", but still no luck.
Any help?

I see this same behavior, and it is a serious pain for us LaTeX writers.
I have found a rather annoying work-around: if you manually close the file before re-opening it (Cmd-W), it will honor this "Start on the last viewed page" option and behave like it used to.
Of course, then it starts off at the start zoom level... but, at least, with a large project, you're not having to opt-cmd-g ("go to page") and remember page numbers.

  • Problems with secure PDFs in Preview

I recently saved and secured a PDF with Adobe Acrobat 9. While the document is secure when I open it with Adobe Acrobat or Reader, there is no security when I open up the same document with Preview... So much for the 256 bit encryption...
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
    Thanks,

Wow! So much for all the money Adobe put into securing PDFs...

  • Problem with saving PDF in Preview

When I open PDF file in Preview in OS 10.5. (make changes) and save it as PDF again, this pdf file does not display corectly on PC. Fonts are missing. When I save in Acrobat, everything is correct. I looked on the information about saved pdf, and Prewiev inserts some fonts to PDF. Acrobat reader on PC tells me, that some fonts can be removed and pdf may be not dispayed correctly. This problem is only in Leopard, because in Tiger was everything fine. Does anybody know any solution? Thank you.

  • Problems with some PDF files

    Hi,
I have problems with some PDF files. After clicking on link to the file Safari shows me insted of normal document (which is working on Windows) hashes, numbers etc like it was a problem with coding or something. First I was using Preview, I though that maybe installing Acrobat Reader with plugins will solve the problem, but ofcourse it didn't. Did somebody has this same problem?

    Back up all data.
Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    defaults delete -app Safari WebKitOmitPDFSupport
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Quit Safari. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear below what you entered. You can then quit Terminal. Test.

No, it is not set to overprint. Also, I have to add that the printing results were not consistent. Sometimes it covered and sometimes it did not.

  • Problem with refresh of snapshot

I am facing one problem with refresh of a snapshot. In the front end (developed in D2K) there is a PL/SQL code written which loops through user_snapshots and refreshes each snapshots one by one.
With one particular snapshot its giving the error. I traced the session and found the problematic snapshot. I tried to refresh the same snapshot with some other user with DBA role granted to it and its working fine.
Now I logged in to SQL Plus with the user Z0000 ( This is the user with which the application user logs in to the application) and tried to rerfresh the snapshot. Its giving me ORA-03113 end-of-file on communication channel. Then I granted DBA role to user Z000 and then tried to refresh its again giving the same error.
I tried with many different users and its working fine.
Any ideas where could be the problem.
    Thanks

I have just downloaded a new version of Adobe Reader X 10.1.2 but can't download PDFs such as my electricity bill and t.v. licence

Thanks for your help.  I’ve now sorted it via help from the site where I was trying to download the PDF from.  The following action solved the problem:
    ·        Click on 'Tools' then 'Internet Option'
    ·        Click 'Advanced'
    ·        Scroll down to Security
    ·        Uncheck 'Do Not Save Encrypted Pages to Disk'

  • Preview problems with Adobe pdfs

    Hi all
I hope this is in the right place ... I've checked through the forums, but couldn't find a problem like this anywhere.
I have just upgraded from a PowerMac G4 dual to a PowerMac G5 dual-core, both running the latest version of Tiger and have managed to migrate across most things. However, there is one problem I'm having which is a bit frustrating.
I use the Adobe CS2 for most of my work, but since changing machines, the Export/Save As PDF features aren't working properly. If I Export any document to pdf from InDesign, it will then not open in Preview, giving a particularly vague error: "File Error. Couldn't open the file." If I then open it up in Reader or Acrobat Pro it works, but when closing it afterwards, it asks me to Save the file (though to my knowledge I haven't made any changes). The file will then open in Preview.
A similar thing happens in Illustrator, but with a twist ... a file Saved as pdf will open straight away in Preview, but once closed won't then open again, until I go through the same process with Acrobat. Having the tested the files on other Macs, the problem is with the files, as they don't open on any machine, nor on a PC (before realising the problem, I sent a pdf to a client).
Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance <d>

    Hi Vipir
    Thanks for the quick reply!
When making the pdfs, I didn't use any of the standards (to maximise compatibility), but I tried every available version of Acrobat (from 4 to 7) and all produced the same result. When I started, I had them Optimised, but after reading a few things online, I tried without Optimising, and then without Tagging them, but still without success.
The end result seems to be a pdf which will only open on Reader or Acrobat Pro, after being fixed by them in some way. If not opened in either of them, then they don't seem to be able to be opened by anyone (regardless of platform or program).
Maybe I've been lucky in the past, but I've never experienced any problems with pdfs before, and I just got used to pdfs being fairly 'bullet-proof!'
    Thanks for your help <d>

  • Acrobat Pro V8 problem with rotating PDFs

I have CS3 suite with Acrobat Pro V8.1.2 running on OSX 10.5.4.
I rotate PDFs for our printer (photographic Lightjet430 laser printer using postershop) it saves time, and it also makes things easier for us in general.
Now I sometimes rip the PDFs into photoshop, this is where my problem starts.
If a PDF say 500mm wide X 2000mm high is rotated in Acrobat and re-saved so now 2000w X 500h. If I open this in Photoshop it shows me a preview as 2000wx500h BUT the size is reported as 500w X 2000h. If you then rip this PDF it will rip as 500mm wide X 125mm high (Wrong). The only way around this is to rotate this PDF back to 500w X 2000h then rip again and it will then rip as 500x2000.
Now if I get this PDF and rotate using OSXs Preview, it will work. I open the PDF that I rotated in Preview and photoshop will show and tell me that it is 2000Wx500H and it rips as 2000x500.
I have 7 other Macs with the same setup and they all do the same thing. I got a friend on a PC using XP and Acrobat 8.1.2 and it also did the same thing.
Using another PDF program on his PC made it work.
Now for some reason the Newer version of PosterShop 7.1 (wasn't a problem with Postershop 6.5) is doing strange things with PDFs rotated in Acrobat Pro V8.1.2. A PDF rotated in Acrobat to a Landscape will open as a Portrait. Leave the PDF as a Portrait and it will open as a Portrait. Now rotate the same file using Preview to a Landscape and Postershop will open it as a Landscape.
Its like something in the PDF is not being changed to say its rotated, so both Photoshop and postershop get it wrong. Now the problems in Postershop may not be related, but even Photoshop is seeing this and ripping it wrong.
Is there any thing I could try?
I have got the rest of the team using Preview atm to rotate files for now.
    Thank you.

My biggest issue GKaiseril is that this is something developed at a higher level than my department. You can find the Fillable PDF and Excel conversion spreadsheet at : www.dodprocurementtoolbox.com. I am not apart of the development team, just apart of a property team trying to get our attachment right. This has been an ongoing issue we've tried to resolve for a while now. The solution I posted above makes the file work, but I don't know if its a "solution" or a temp fix. If I can figure out what the actual issue is, I can suggest an actual fix to the machine or process.

  • Problem with exporting PDF from Indesign CS6

    Hi,
I recently registered & installed CS6 on my computer (Last week!), and I seem to have problems with Indesign, which is the main reason for my buying the product.
The problem is that whenever I try to save & export a file as PDF from Indesign I get an error message (See attached file).
The files are saved with 0KB size, and so the Acrobat reader can't open them for preview.
This really interrupts my work, and backs up the entire comapny schedule.
I already tried updating, and uninstalling&re-installing the suite - but no luck.
Any help would be appreciated, and we need it ASAP.
    Thanks in advance,

Without proper system info and details about what PDF settings you actually used and how and where you save your files, nobody can say anything. You could simply be doing something silly like using PDF/A, but trying to enforce high-res pictures or whatever. In any case, ask in the ID forum.

  • Problem with CSS styles and Previewing in Firefox

    Hello,
I recently rebooted my Mac OS X system (leopard) and reinstalled Adobe CS3. Before this I had virtually no problems with Dreamweaver and everything was running smoothly. However, now whenever I preview my pages in Safari, the CSS code is completely mangled.
Also, my site won't preview in Firefox unless I close any existing tabs and exit Firefox completely. I have no idea why these problems are occurring, but I have pasted the code below so any advice would be extemely helpful.

    hey there,
thanks so much for the insight on the firefox issue. hopefully they fix that soon.
as for the css, i do have a screenshot of what's happening. the background image seems to repeat after the navigation bar instead of keeping the transparent background. it's extremely odd and i've never seen it before. it can be seen in the attached photo.
    thanks again for your help,

  • Problem with Copying PDFs to any application other than iBooks

    OK here is my problem,
I used to be able to associated PDFs with other PDF readers (via iTunes > APPS > File Sharing). I just dragged and dropped and all was right in my world. However, all of a sudden this stopped working. I have no clue as to what caused this problem to arise. The only thing I remember 'doing' was adding some new apps.
I cannot use the PDFs through iBook, well I can but it doesn't meet my needs (highlighting, copying and pasting and adding notes). So instead I want to use PDF HD. I used to have on PDF Masker and Good Reader, but neither does what I want.
    Suggestions?

    Hello Sin K,
so proxy and Tomcat are located on different machines as well? Is the proxy able to commuicate with the Tomcat on the configured internal ports and is the proxy able to lookup the hostname you configured for the Tomcat?
For the connector, the proxyName and proxyPort should be the parameters the client uses to call APEX. So if your clients should call via http://proxyserver:8080/testsin/apex the settings would be
    proxyName=proxyserver
proxyPort=8080Reason for this is that applications (e.g. the APEX Listener) generate there URL references with these parameters.
But does your proxy actually serve on port 8080? And is that port accessible by clients? Do clients accept cookies from that server?
In my case, there is only one 302 which redirects to http://host:port/apex/f?p=4500:1000:sessionid which is correct.
If you look into your first post request in firebug, what's in the request header?

  • Problem with printing pdf

    IF POSSIBLE REPLY IN ITALIAN
HI, i ve got a big problem.
i 've to create an A0 page in vectorial pdf, which has connected different files: .psd files for the images with transparency, and vectorial .pdf for the drawings from cad.
When i ve created my page, i export that in print pdf high quality.
1° problem: sometimes it fails and tells me there s not enough memory
2° problem: when print pdf is created, the plotter can t load it to print, it stops at 40% loading.
there s a way to make an easy vectorial print pdf?
using vectorial eps instead of vectorial pdf?
using transparent tiff instead of psd?
    THANKS

thank you for the fast reply Peter. Im working on an achitecture poster for my last exam, and it contains vector graphics sometimes overlayed on raster images.
i don t like to use illustrator too, im using 3 programs already to create this poster. do u think .ai are easier than eps???
i ve tryed to save new pdf without layers, but it didn t work. then i ve tryed to change pdf with eps on indesign, and now the print pdf saving is really faster. im gonna try to plot it and then i ll tell u what s changed.
OH most important, i was drag n dropping pdf into indesign, and i read it s really wrong! so now i import vector eps to indesign ...
    Plot test...

  • Problems with saving pdf as a word doc

    hello, i
recently upgraded to acrobt x pro, and i went to convert a one-page pdf into a word doc.  i went to "file,"
"save as," "word document, and when i went to view
the word doc, the format/layout/font, etc. was completely garbled.  what could i be doing wrong?  thanks!

Your problem is likely with the PDF not having the tags that provide the format information you are expecting. Such information is not needed for the PDF, but is used for the conversion back to WORD. You could try converting a file from DOC to PDF and back to DOC with both a print to the Adobe PDF printer and PDF Maker to get the format info. See how they compare and you should get the idea.
