Problem with responsive scaling

So, i have this animation that i want the users to view in full screen in the browser. I have responsive scaling option checked and in compositionReadyi have this code: sym.getSymbolElement().css({position:"fixed"});
I'm using a tall stage because i'm using EdgeCommons parallax effect.

Did you take into account that the getScaledInstance() -method creates a completly new Image?
So if you use it like in
ImageIcon icon1=new ImageIcon("Blah.gif");
ImageIcon icon2=new ImageIcon(icon1.getImage().getScaledInstance(400,400,SCALE_FAST);
you will end up with 2 different Images which have their own data and memory requirements.
even if you use something like
ImageIcon icon1=new ImageIcon("Blah.gif");
Image i=icon1.getImage();
icon1.setImage(i.getScaledInstance(200,200,SCALE_FAST));
You will need enough memory to store the data for the original image, as well as the data for the scaled
version of the image, at least for the time that it take the JRE to create the scaled version. You never know when the garbage collector kicks in to delete you old data so it could be that this takes some time and until
that moment your memory is not available. If your now doing several of the scaling operations, and there is no chance for the garbage collector to do its work, you will run out of memory.

I have the following problem: i have a query that shows me a % of Card make in one day, i need to fix the scaling from 0% to 100% but it always get fixed automatic. I go to edit the Axis and then i set Minimum Value = 0 and Minimum Calculation = user Defined and Maximum Value = 100 and Maximum Calculation = user Defined but it always get fixed with automatic scaling. What can i do?

Hi Roberth,
Please check out OSS note 959964 - Chart: User-defined values of axis range are ignored. We were facing the same issue and this note fixed it for us.
Symptom
The axis range of the chart ignores the user-defined settings. Instead it uses the automatic calculation of the axis range.

You use SAPGUI 6.40 >= patch 18 and an IGS 6.40.
Solution
Please install IGS 6.40 >= patch 16.

Printing problem with emails - scaling issue

Hi everyone,
I'm having a printing problem when I print out my emails. Under the email preferences, the scaling is set to 100%, but the actual printouts look to be about 30%.
I have no other problems with any other applications (documents, web pages, etc.) and I'm not sure where to look next.
I'm new to the mac world (my background is with PC's), so any guidance at all would be GREATLY appreciated!!
(PS - I just updated my printer driver yesterday - had the problem both before and after that install)

Problem with image scaling and aligning to the MC bounds

HI
I have problem with my custom class.
For example if image is loaded into the
holder_mc inside of
loader_mc, and if the loaded image is bigger than the
loader_mc, then I want it to scale it down to match
loader_mc bounds.
It is something similar to Loader class...
I've copied this code outside of Loader.as file and modifyed
it, but its not working...
I'd realy appreciate that if you could find any mistake or
any code similar to this...

Problem with Filters scaling ??

Hi,
I have scaled into an edit and applied the viewfinder filter, but the filter scales with the scaling of the edit, distoring the filter, not what i want, anyone got any ideas how to overcome this ?

Yar, better yet, export the scaled up clips as separate movies and bring them back into your project, apply the filter to the movies.
Saves tons of time processing and re-rendering with every little adjustment. Assumes. of course, you can set your effects clips as golden and do the export.

Strange problem with image scaling when placed

I'm currently running InDesign CS6 from the Creative Cloud, and it's version 8.0. I have a PC and am running Windows 8.
I am experiencing a really odd problem when placing images, and it only recently (within the last two weeks perhaps?) has developed. I do ebook production for a publisher. I have an InDesign template (INDD file really, but "blank" and ready to be filled in, and as such I refer to it as a "template") that I use, and the cover for the book goes on the first page. The document is set to pixels as the ruler measurement, and the pages are 650 pixels wide by 800 pixels tall. The margins are all set at zero. The cover images are sent to me as JPEGs and always have the same size: 72dpi setting and 500 pixels wide by 750 pixels tall. This is chosen to be about the size of the full screen on most ereaders, or close enough to be so.
So when working on a new book, I put my cursor in the blank line that is set up to take the cover as an inline image. I do control-D to place, select the file, and hit enter. This SHOULD place an image at that location that is 500 pixels wide and 750 pixels tall when looking at the InDesign page rulers. Instead, InDesign insists on placing this image at 50% scaling, so that it is only 250 pixels wide by 375 pixels tall. And in the link info panel, it shows the actual PPI as 72 and the effective PPI as 144. It does this no matter how many preference changes I try (including the ones under file handling and the import setting options).
The strangest part is that if the file is just a tiny bit different than 500x750 @72dpi, then there is no problem. For example, if I open the JPEG in Photoshop and change the image settings to 500x750 @73dpi, then InDesign places it at 100% scale like I want. If I change the image to 499x749 @72dpi it also gets placed in InDesign at 100% scaling. I've tried this with various new INDD documents with settings in pixels, inches, or picas as the ruler amounts, and with different page or margin sizes (just in case the problem is with my template). I get the same result no matter what.
It appears that InDesign somehow thinks that any image that is exactly 500x750 @72dpi should be scaled at 50% when placing it into an InDesign file. Has anyone else run across this? Is it a bug or something I'm doing wrong? I've been doing this exact procedure for over a year, first with CS5 and now CS6, and I've never had this happen until just recently. I suppose it COULD be an accidental change in settings or preferences. But if it is, I cannot figure out how to change it back.
UPDATE: I installed the 8.0.1 update and it did not resolve the issue. I also tried more image options. It looks like this scaling to 50% upon placing ONLY happens when all three attributes match this: 500x750@72dpi. All of the following modifications to the exact same image placed in the exact same spot in the exact same document resolved the issue:
501x750@72dpi
499x750@72dpi
500x751@72dpi
500x749@72dpi
500x750@71dpi
500x750@73dpi
But of course, I don't want to have to modify every cover image I'm sent in order to prevent this scaling issue.

I just tried this and got the same results (CS6, 8.0.1, on WinXP SP3). One other tidbit: the same 500px × 750 px @ 72ppi image saved as TIFF instead of JPEG worked correctly (at least for me). I haven't tried any other image formats yet.

Acrobat X problem with image scaling in Excel

We are using Acrobat X standard with Excel 2007.
The problem is that when using the Create PDF button on the Acrobat toolbar within Excel, if the document has been scaled using Page Layout-Scale option within Excel, the resulting PDF has the image the correct size, but it has not been scaled. So the dimensions are correct, but only half of the image will be visible.
To see what I mean, in Excel, add a picture, then choose Page Layout-Scaling and set to e.g. 50%. Check the print preview to see how it should look, and make sure you have a real printer selected in File-Print (NOT Adobe PDF printer). Then create PDF using the toolbar button. The image in the PDF will be wrong.
This works fine if using native PDF converter (e.g. Save As PDF file) or by printing to the PDF printer, or by using the CreatePDF button when the Adobe PDF printer is selected as default in the print options.
This seems to be a bug in X as in 9 it worked fine.
Is there a solution to this?

Problem with image scaling

I'm currently writing a flex application where I'm scaling
images on a hidden canvas, and then taking a bitmap of them and
drawing that bitmap to a visible component. There are two reasons
for this: so that the user doesn't see a mixture of scaled and
unscaled images, and so that I can do some operations on the
bitmap, saving the processing time of altering all of the objects.
The problem is that the scaling doesn't seem to have finished
by the time I create the bitmap. Is there a way that I can be sure
the operation has finished first? Or is there a better way I should
be going about this?

Although I didn't see an event for scaleX and scaleY, width
and height do have an associated event (ResizeEvent), so I decided
to use them for my scaling. I set up an event listener, and counted
the events that had been fired, until they had been fired for each
of the items that was to be scaled.
I checked to see whether it worked, and it seemed not to
have. In fact, it seems to have given me the same result as I had
without the event listener, so as far as I can tell, the event is
being called at the beginning of the resize rather than when it is
completed.
The problem isn't due to bad placement or sizing logic, as
I've tested making the buffer visible, and it responds as expected,
albeit with the resize flicker that I'm trying to eliminate. I am
also certain that the draw is being triggered in the event
listener, and have tested to make sure that there are no further
resize events that I am not handling.
I'm honestly kind of baffled. How can I resize multiple
interconnected pieces of content without a separation being visible
to the user in the intervening frames?
Edit: I was able to tell when the image loaded by attaching a
listener to the image that listened for the update event. I may be
coming at this from the wrong angle, though, so I'm going to look
into other ways to solve this problem as a whole.

Developing on a 4K Monitor - problem with DPI Scaling

Development Environment:
Visual Studio 2013 Update 4
Windows 8.1 latest SP
1st screen: 4K, 3840x3260
2nd screen: 1920x1200
Situation: I'm developing a WinForms Application since many years. Originally, my development environment was started on normal screens. Now, the main screen was exchanged by a 4K.
Problem: Whenever I design a dialog, or change an existing one, the resulting dialog is much too big on a normal FullHD display. It seems that Visual Studio cannot correctly the DPI scaling;
end the forms designer even "destroys" existing code once you open a dialog.
Question: What's the best way to develop WinForms desktop applications on a high-resolution display?

So, I messed around a lot more with switchresX, and discovered you can create any retina resolution by making a custom 'scaled' resolution with double the dimensions in each direction. For example, 1440p turns into 5120x2880.
The caveat here is that you can't set the actual screen resolution. So, for my rMBP, 1440p gets scaled to 1080p and looks like garbage. I'm fairly convinced that this is something that's determined by the driver though. I attached the monitor (Asus p287q) to a Mac Pro with an nvidia graphics card and using the nvidia web drivers (not the default ones that come with mac os x), and the 1440p on 4K HiDPI mode is available and looking great (60hz too!)
I haven't tried this yet, but maybe installing the nvidia web drivers will fix the rMBP resolution as well. Thing is, the Macbook Pro 13 has Intel graphics, right? Not sure if Intel offers alternative mac drivers, but if they do it's probably worth a try.

Problems with Responsive Web Design

Not really sure how to ask this, but here we go. I am new to responsive web design; always worked with html coding and tables like in Front Page. I have the concept down of sections, then containers, then columns if needed to place my content and images. Several times in my process, I get a page done or nearly done, and then later on, my text or images re-arrange themselves and overlap themselves. In other words, the text layers itself on top of another text. The two images below were laid out perfectly just a little while ago.
The max width of all containers on the page is 940px. It works great, until it doesn't I have not changed any margins or anything to make this “overlapping” of objects occur. I get satisfied with a page, and all the sudden, magically it screws up. What am I missing here? If I highlight the container, it shows a margin on the left of 342px, and a margin on the right of 343px. Looking at the CSS Designer however, these numbers do not show up. Only the 940px. I am not changing the CSS either prior to this event happening. This occurs whether in IE or Chrome.
In this first image, the red breadcrumbs started out being parallel with the search feature, and should be in the gray area. The gray menu text, was in the white area above the gray bar when it looked right. Both sets of items (i.e., red breadcrumb and search feature are set in two columns. Each column with is 50%.
In this next image, the items in the black bar were side, by side. Now they are not, and I did nothing to them or the stylesheet. The mail image column is 8.333%, the join text is in a column that is 25%, and the join us form is in a column that is 66.666%.

The first page to look at where I had the most recent, most completed page, is - about.html. That will be my template for the rest. Also, there was supposed to be a feed from my blog showing up on this page; it was also perfect at first. Then, my shaded black site links section and and the copyright footer quit showing up. When I commented out the blog feed code, the footers showed up again. At one time, it all was working. so this is yet another problem I cannot figure out why stuff is changing seemingly by itself.
These pages were originally created in an online tool called webflow.com. It worked great, but they did not honor the full trial changes before they made site updates that eliminated any free use at all. This code for all files and images were exported into a zip file. The CSS files are titles as follows, in the css directory:

Problem with page scaling.

I'm afraid this may be an elementary level problem, but I'd appreciate advice.
I am trying to resize a book from page size 135 x 215mm to 129 x 198mm. I can do this by printing to a postscript file, specifying the paper size as 129 x 198, and checking scale to fit. Then I distill to a pdf. This gives me an acceptable looking page. However, for the purposes of printing, I wish to include crop marks. When I specify crop marks when saving the postscript file, I get them in the eventual pdf, but within the page size of 129 x 198, and the actual page itself is reduced to about 83% of what it should be! It doesn't help that mathematics is not my strong point. Is there any way (there must be) that I can save the postscript file so that I can include crop marks and when the printer trims the page it is at the correct size of 129 x 198mm?

Very many thanks, Peter -- this script is magic and has completely solved the problem. Being able to select the options of scale to fit, keep proportions 100% and centre on the page in the new file takes the uncertainty out of the import. Thanks too to Luke for setting me off in the right direction. I'm going to be using this method with a lot of our reprints which are going into a slightly different format.

Problem with response time

Hi, I am experiencing long response time for my dashboard(40 seconds on some PC). I wonder what is the normal response time for your dashboards, and what is the size of your worksheet?
For me, I have a tab set with 5 tabs, under each tab, there are about 100 row* AH cloumn. And as it is still the proof of concept stage in my company, I am using offline data, but if we use live data from BW, what would it mean to the resopnse time, even longer?

We try to keep our SWF size under 1024 kb, but that doesn't mean it will load fast since the connection loads little after Initializing the component. We have around 100 components on an average, and some custom components. One thing you should stay away from is doing lot of grouping in the Object Browser.
Questions for you:
Which version of xcelsius and service pack are you using?
How many connections run when the dashboard loads initially?
How many total connections?
How many rows and columns does the initial load connection bring?
How much time does the same query take in the database?

Problems with response after startup and crashing

For the last few days, when I start up my macbook pro, it is firstly taking a little more than usual to start up. Then when it does log in, I can move the cursor around with the track pad but I can't click on anything for about 10 minutes. After that, the computer has crashed with spinning beach balls several times. I did have a new battery fitted at genius store 2 weeks ago, could this be the cause or something else? Should I get back to genius bar?

Could be they moved something to install the new battery and didn't Re-Connect it firmly. Or your drive is starting to fail. That system is now 3 or close to 3 years old. Hard drive don't last forever.

response.sendRedirect() may throw an IOException if URL not found.So you have to write throws or try & catch.
