Problem with rotated canvas in Illustrator

I'm having a strange problem here. Friend of mine sent me a screen grab of her Illustrator workspace - it seems the artboard got rotated somehow. And she can't get it to straighten back... Neither can I, or any of our friends of designing persuasion... I wasn't even aware you can do that in Illustrator. Anyway, the question is, how do you undo this? All the new files start already rotated, too.
Screen grab follows:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Problem with rotation and landscape mode in iOS 8

From start of iOS 8 I have got problem with rotation in my iPhone 5S 32GB as well as in my iPad mini retina 32GB. Automatical rotation to landscape mode is not working correctly. For example if you take the phone or tablet to landscape mode in base display and tap to Safari, Mail, Messages, the app will start but stay in normal mode, not landscape. Then you have to back the phone to normal portrait mode and back to landscape and only then the phone do the landscape mode. I have never seen this problem in iOS 7 or older.
Could you help me anyone with this problem? Or is the problem generally in iOS 8.
    Thanks a lot
    Jakub

Brian, thanks, but it's not a rotation lock issue - at least not relating to the rotation lock setting. It's just a general use setting. Right now i have my iPhone propped in landscape mode. If I now hit the home button, essentially returning to a portrait setting though my phone is still positioned in landscape, then open any other app that supports landscape, that app WILL NOT orient itself to landscape mode. It will stay in portrait mode. The phone has to be physically oriented to portrait, then back to landscape for the app to register landscape mode properly. This is a glitch, and not a rotation lock issue. it ought to be noted that this was not an issue in iOS 7 or any previous iteration.

  • Problem with rotate function.

I got a problem with the rotate function. When I rotate an (text) object (point text but same behavior with area text) on the GUI of Illustrator, the resize bounds around (see screenshot) is rotated as well so that you can resize it as used to. If I rotate the same object by JavaScript, the resize bounds are NOT rotated along with. How can I get the same effect as with the GUI-way by JavaScript as thats the result I need? And where is my thinking error. Here is the code I used for the rotation:
    var docRef = app.activeDocument;
    var sRef = docRef.selection[0];
    sRef.rotate(20, true, true, true, true, Transformation.TOPLEFT);

Hi Jens, I had the same problem, no matter what I tried, rotating via scripting keeps resetting the bounding box. I resolved it by recording an action to rotate the object, same results as if rotated manually. If you still need to rotate via scripting, VBS and AppleSript can execute Actions from script, JS can not.

  • Problem with rotation and keyboard click sound

Ok, there's still a problem with the rotation and keyboard click sound and I thought I had the problem fixed.
It's a serious bug when you want the keyboard click sound enbabled without having the rotation locked. I noticed this bug started when I had the previous iosinstalled 7.0.6.
Everytime I wanted to enable the keyboard click sound, I have to always go to settings and have lock rotation checked. And it would stay locked.
If I wanted to rotate my iPad, I have to have mute enabled, but no keyboard click sound.
I know it sounds confusing. I'm already confused... beh.

    I completely forgot about that.
    Thank you!

  • Acrobat Pro V8 problem with rotating PDFs

I have CS3 suite with Acrobat Pro V8.1.2 running on OSX 10.5.4.
I rotate PDFs for our printer (photographic Lightjet430 laser printer using postershop) it saves time, and it also makes things easier for us in general.
Now I sometimes rip the PDFs into photoshop, this is where my problem starts.
If a PDF say 500mm wide X 2000mm high is rotated in Acrobat and re-saved so now 2000w X 500h. If I open this in Photoshop it shows me a preview as 2000wx500h BUT the size is reported as 500w X 2000h. If you then rip this PDF it will rip as 500mm wide X 125mm high (Wrong). The only way around this is to rotate this PDF back to 500w X 2000h then rip again and it will then rip as 500x2000.
Now if I get this PDF and rotate using OSXs Preview, it will work. I open the PDF that I rotated in Preview and photoshop will show and tell me that it is 2000Wx500H and it rips as 2000x500.
I have 7 other Macs with the same setup and they all do the same thing. I got a friend on a PC using XP and Acrobat 8.1.2 and it also did the same thing.
Using another PDF program on his PC made it work.
Now for some reason the Newer version of PosterShop 7.1 (wasn't a problem with Postershop 6.5) is doing strange things with PDFs rotated in Acrobat Pro V8.1.2. A PDF rotated in Acrobat to a Landscape will open as a Portrait. Leave the PDF as a Portrait and it will open as a Portrait. Now rotate the same file using Preview to a Landscape and Postershop will open it as a Landscape.
Its like something in the PDF is not being changed to say its rotated, so both Photoshop and postershop get it wrong. Now the problems in Postershop may not be related, but even Photoshop is seeing this and ripping it wrong.
Is there any thing I could try?
I have got the rest of the team using Preview atm to rotate files for now.
    Thank you.

My biggest issue GKaiseril is that this is something developed at a higher level than my department. You can find the Fillable PDF and Excel conversion spreadsheet at : www.dodprocurementtoolbox.com. I am not apart of the development team, just apart of a property team trying to get our attachment right. This has been an ongoing issue we've tried to resolve for a while now. The solution I posted above makes the file work, but I don't know if its a "solution" or a temp fix. If I can figure out what the actual issue is, I can suggest an actual fix to the machine or process.

  • Problem with rotating music iPhone6

    Hello,
I have one really annoying problem with my iPhone 6. I had it since i bought it and I hoped that with the new iOS 8.2 it's gonna be fixed, but unfortunately it wasn't. The problem is when I listen to music and I rotate my phone into landscape mode the screen becomes black (normally there should be a list of the albums)
Here I uploaded two pictures of the action. Also I want to say that I am not the only one with that problem, my friend is also having iPhone 6 and he has the same problem. We tried to restart and reset our phones, but nothing happened. I would be really grateful if you could help me to fix that.

You will need to take the phone back to the U.S. (or send it to a friend or relative in the U.S) for service.

Out of the box, the fonts will suck.
Go through the following wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Font_configuration and configure your fonts. You also need to make sure you have a couple good fonts installed. Then setup the hinting, filter etc and it will be much improved.
I have used Infinality in the past and it works very well as well but made too many changes, one of which resulted in an issue with an app that was difficult to track down. Haven't used it lately so do not know the status.

  • Problems with PNG colors in illustrator

I'm beyond frustrated with illustrator's png export at this point, contacted adobe customer service 3-4 times with no answer, already made a post about this with no solution, here is the problem; everytime I export from illustrator as a png the color changes. It doesn't matter if I am working in RGB or cmyk, the color will always change, typically the colors just look faded/ less saturated. There is no way for me to match the color of an exported jpeg to an exported png. This is a problem because when I give my clients their logo in png I need to import it into photoshop or preview to change the color coding so that it matches the previous jpegs I would sent them, now while working with packaging (cmyk document) the png export looks pretty faded, but it prints fine. Is this typical? My in illustrator colors look fine and are the same as my jpeg exports, the only thing that has a different color look is png exports, no matter if I choose embed color profile (save for web), assign profile, bascially any color choosing option in illustrator. I'm wondering what does everyone else do when their client wants the logo in a png? Do you just work around this with assigning a profile in a program other than illustrator?

I am afraid that the workaround is all you can do at the moment; open the png file in Photoshop and assign sRGB profile (you can set the Ask when Opening for missing profiles in the Photoshop color settings).
There is no way to embed a color profile in a .png file in Illustrator (like you can in Photoshop's Save for Web dialog)
But that looks like a good feature request:

  • Problems with RGB colors in Illustrator

    Hello,
i have a problem with saving my artwork which is done in illustrator in PDF file. This artwork needs to be saved in PDF in RGB colors. It seams  that I cannot do this. Originaly artwork was done in CMYK. Option Edit/Edit Colors/conver to RBG is not working that is this option is not possible.
Any suggestions please. Printing company cannot process it if PDF is not in RGB colors.
    Thank you in advance.

But there is no difference in either case as the file will not be overwritten.
True that the file will not be overwritten if you're careful not to do a regular save, but there is a difference.
When you switch from CMYK to RGB document mode in Illustrator, AI simply converts to whatever you've set as your RGB working space. Yes, of course, you can go into Color Settings and change your workspace profile if need be, but now you're monkeying with settings that you might not want to be changing frequently.
Why not, instead, take advantage of a feature that's there specifically to deal with workflow issues like this?
If the printer requires a specific RGB space that's different from your normal working space, it's much easier to select it from the destination color dropdown during PDF creation. If you'll be creating more files for this particular printer, simply record a custom PDF (job options) preset.
Even if one chooses to do it the Wade Zimmerman way, one should make sure to look at the color panel during PDF creation to make sure no unwanted space conversions are taking place.

  • Problem with rotate (Win 10)

For some reason, my Yoga 2 Pro refuses to get back into the 'normal' rotation (NOT upside-down or sideways). I've tried disabling ymg in services (no effect), I've tried with the ctrl-alt combo (all of them work perfectly, EXCEPT for the ctrl-alt-UP combo). - but nothing brings it back in the normal mode. Does somebody have an idea on how to fix this? Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Just reporting back. It was a problem with a driver (HID Sensor Collection V2 that (for some reason) was no longer 'enabled'. I noticed it in the device manager, and as soon as I clicked it, the system also showed a 'Sdo Sensor V2' and from that moment onwards, the display switched to the normal mode (landscape, NOT flipped). So problem solved. I hope.

  • Pixelated Problem with 3D Mapping in Illustrator.

So here's the situation as best as I can recount it. I created a 3-d revolved bottle and lid in Illustrator, back in probably CS2. Since then, I have been unable to get the bottle, or it's mapped image to appear anything but pixelated and nasty. Which makes it pretty useless, really. Recent 3-d revolves with mapping seem crisp. Is this original file just unusable and broken in some way? I have tried re-mapping the imagery and re-creating the symbol used for mapping and have not produced any different a result. My only other thought is to get a real bottle, print the label for real somewhere and take a photograph if I can't get this to work. ;) So, is this a new problem, or a problem from an earlier file? Has anyone else had this issue? I'm using CS3 now on a Mac G5. The file opens in CS3 fine, although I did have to re-map the image map symbol for some reason.. it seemed to think it was on the back or inside of the bottle when I opened the original file.
I know this is pretty vague, but I really don't have much experience with 3D mapping in illustrator.

Ok, I believe that fixed the mapped art's resolution issues. But one other question, the 3-d bottle that the artwork is mapped to, has a rough edge to it that is still pixelated. I can take it into photoshop and clip out that 'edge' if need be, but I'm still wondering if there is a setting I'm missing here. Thanks again for all your help!

  • Problem with "unite" option in illustrator

    Hello,
I have problem with new Illustrator. I get distorted shapes after using "unite" in pathfinder or when rescaling, often shapes get distorted when expanding strokes to shapes, what is going on? I use illustrator for quite some time and never had anything like this. Screenshots attached.
Also I need to updade software through CC app each time I turn computer on, update seems not to register somehow.
    Please Help
    Kamil

    Kamil,
In cases like this, the first guess is Align to Pixel Grid
You may select everything and then untick Align to Pixel Grid in the Transform pallete, and also untick Align New Objects to Pixel Grid in the flyout options.
You may avoid document types with that as default (RGB for web and the like) or change the default for such documents.

  • Problem with rotating view on iPhone 5--when I go from landscape to portrait view Safari jumps around.

Every time I rotate my phone from portrait to landscape and back again the view has jumped up about 3 screens--say for instance I'm reading a message board, and I rotate to landscape to view a picture, when I rotate back I'm looking at comments way higher up than I had been before the rotation--which is really frustrating and wastes a lot of time trying to figure out where I was. It always jumps up, never down.
This happens on many different websites (and even if I'm reading a story in Reader), so it's not a bug on that end. The rotation feature worked fine on my iPhone 4, so why is it a problem now? I've downloaded all updates and synced my phone with my macbook retina several times and it doesn't make any difference.

Hello? Anybody out there? Plenty of people are looking at this question, anybody have an idea what's going on with my phone? Or any suggestions for how I should go about bugging Apple to figure out how to fix it?
