Problem with save filepaths
LE7 is currently not letting me save files to HD/~ filepaths, only <User>/~ ones. As I'm the only user of my Mac I never save anything in my home directory, and would prefer not to start. Has anyone come across this issue?
PBG4 1.5, 512MB, 80G HD, 10.4.7
thanks Peter for trying to help
ok, i've narrowed down the problem, it seems that when i try and save a file onto one partition of one of my ext drives it won't save to my last save dir but if i save to another partition/drive it works ok, also if i rename the 'dodgy' partition it also seems to work ok, so somehow the name of the drive has become corrupted.
anybody ever heard of this? or how i could fix this as it's a quite annoying because alot of my audio files are referenced on this partition, so itunes or Cubase (audio sequencer) can't find my files now.

Erratic problems with "save as" in CS6
I have been having problems with the "save as" function in Photoshop CS6. Or, at least, the function is not working consistently with the way it worked in CS5 and earlier.
Specifically:
When I save an image with a new name, so as not to change the original image, the new file is saved, but the new name does not appear on the image tab. The name on the image tab remains the origninal, so that if I were to "save" more changes, they would overwrite the original image, not the new one. In CS5 and earlier, when you did a "save as", the name in the tab changed to the new name, and you continued editing the image you had just saved, not the original.
The file type on "save as" is always PSD, not JPG. If there is an option or preference to select the default save file type, I have not been able to find it.
I have reviewed the other threads in this forum about "save as" problems, and have confirmed that my plug-ins folder is empty and I do not have any alternate plug-ins folder specified in preferences. I did not move any plugins from earlier versions to this version.> How are you saving the file (i.e., in what format)?
I opened a JPG file, made minor changes (crop, levels) and clicked "File|Save As...". The dialog box came up with PSD, not JPG. I had to change it to JPG to save.
> Is the "As a Copy" checkbox checked? If so, it will not consider the document name changed.
No. "As a copy" is not checked.
> If your file type is defaulting to PSD, that says you've done something to your file - ...
Yes, I am used to that behavior in earlier versions of Photoshop, which I have been using since version 4.
> I suspect there's no problem here in PS CS6 (I certainly haven't detected one), but rather something
> you've done to your file is what's making work the way you're seeing it.
I did not add anything to the file. The only changes I made were cropping and levels. No adjustment layers were created, no channels changed, no change to bit level - I know how to do those things, have done so in the past in earlier versions, and am familiar with the behavior of PS when you do so. This is not that.
> FYI, I just tested this in PS CS5.
Version CS5 works fine. When I open the same images in CS5, make the same changes, and click "save as..." it acts exactly as I expect it to - it defaults to JPG and the file name on the tab changes.
This is a version CS6 issue, not something I'm doing, that I know of. I am not ruling out that there might be something I'm doing or in the setup which is causing the behavior, but given I am only doing very simple editing on these images and I have not changed the default CS6 Beta setup, I have no clue what that might be.
It is erratic, as I said in the header - sometimes the program reacts the way I expect, more often it does not and I get this problem. -
Bonjour. la boite de dialogue "enregistrer sous" ne s'ouvre plus dans logic pro 8 (sous OS 10.6) . Quelqu'un a t il une solution?
I can't save a new project on Logic pro 8. The windows "save as" doesn't appear since yesterday but i haven't do any changes in my configuration (Logic pro 8 with OS 10.6). The only thing that happened was a crash using mascine in logic 8. Thank you...Windhem:
No I am not saving as archives... Just Plain SAVE-AS.
Hangtime: Again my friend, I thank you for the effort, you seem to be a decent person on top of being knowledgeable.
I have a tenfency to want to agree with you to carry on with the work, but I am persistent, and I figured if what you suggested is the case, (not that it may not be), why the **** did the engineers duplicate a feature by ALSO providing us with Save-As-Archive, when Save-As accomplishes the same pointless goal. A choice with NO choice, kind of silly.... don't you agree?
I am really, really, really, not undermining your suggestion, (actually I am concerned it may be TRUE, hence my frustration), in a way its comforting to realize I don't have a problem with the software per say.
I will keep on looking into the matter and see if I can find a loophole around the issue. Will keep you posted if I accompish anything...and so do you PLEASE and Thank you.

Problem with "Save as Adobe PDF format" in Excel and Word
Hi
When I use printing zone in Excel and make a «Save as Adobe PDF format» (menu File / Save as Adobe PDF), the first save is well done. But when I make it a second time, what's not in the printing zone is printing in the document.
I have also problem with the «Save as Adobe PDF format» in Word. The images superposition are not well print.
I'm using Windows 7 in french, Office 2010 french and Adobe Acrobat XI standard. All is in the latest version.
ThanksThe Save As PDF feature in Office2008 Call up a PDF Creator similar to the AdobePDF Print Driver. whch OX.6 can't use.
To create Pdf you have to use method used:
http://indesignsecrets.com/acrobats-adobe-pdf-printer-replaced-in-snow-leopard.php
Not before you attempt to use this method if Rossetta is not installed. pop in your Systems DVD and install Rosetta. Then follow directions to install the Adobe Quality PDF Automator Script which will show up in the Print Menu. Click on Print > then click PDF. Then Click on Adobe quality PDF. AS for setting up Job options and other details Supposedly your suppose to have access. But I have no idea.
First thing Rosetta should be installed out of the box. and Second Adobe should install this Script from their installer. So their should be no intervention from the user. it should just work. Early report when OSX.6 first came out almost no one was able to get this to work. and I see periodic reports that people still can't get it tork and they have to to resort to saving as .ps files then droping on distiller.
Good luck. -
Problem with Save data with report
Post Author: ramprosoft
CA Forum: General
Hi,
I am new to CR and using Crystal Reports XI with SQL Server 2000.
I'm not able to remove the saved data in a report. I have played around different options, but unfortunately I'm not able to remove the data. I have checked variouse places in web above this issue not able to find a solution, so decided to open a new post. The problem is :
I have created a simple report and saved with-out data (1st version) the file size was 16KB. After few changes I have saved the same report with Data, the file size become 1065 KB. Its perfect and I can view the report in Report Viewer. Great Stuff!. Now the Testing completed, I would like to move this report to production environment, I notice that I'm unable to remove the data. I have played around various tricks like below, but it didnt work well.
Trick 1:
Uncheck: File->Options->Reporting (tab)->Save Data With Report.
Check: File -> Options -> Reporting (tab)->Discard Saved data on Open,
Uncheck: file-> Report Options -> Save Data With Report.
File -> Save Data with Report (Not selected)
Opened the report and try "save" and also tried "save as", still the size is 1065.
Trick 2:
I enabled all "Save Data with report" feature. Deleted all the rows in the table related to the query, previewed the report and Saved the report with "Save Data with report" featuer. But now, the funny part happen, the file size increased to 1070kb, instead of reducing. Worst Stuff!!!
Trick 3:
Updated the latest version of Patch and tried above tricks, still i'm not able to remove the data.
Appreciate, if you could help me to fix the problem.
thanks in advancePost Author: salmanq

Problems with "save for web" app low quality messed up images
Please help I have never had a problem with the "save for web" application before (over three years) I am currently running A.I. cs3 on windows vista. in the past whenever I save anything this way the images were always clean. as of yesterday everything I try to save through the save for web app the images are very low quality all the vector has jagged edges, it is very low rez looking and the file sizes are very small, half the size they normaly would be. What did I do to change the settings or better yet how can I get it back to the way it was.
Thank you for your help I moved the folder but it still did not fix this problem. it is also not just the jpg option under the save for web app but all the setting ie. gif, png, ect. ect. Also the the files sizes are much less, example I exported a design as a jpg with the quality setting about 6 the file size was 374kb when I exported the same design through the save for web app the file size was only 45 kb on the quilty setting of 100. further more in the preview screen of "save for web" the original images as well as the optimized both look messed up. The "save for web" app has always worked for me in the past never a problem and I use this app alot so it is very important.

Problem with save directory in photobooth
I installed Leopard this week and when I go into photobooth I get this message:
There was a problem creating the photo save directory /Users/Pictures/Photobooth. Your photos cannot be saved.
Has anyone else seen this? Do you know what to do? I have problems with the new background features in video chat and photobooth.Welcome to Apple Discussions, lillolablue
Photo Booth works fine on my PPC Macs, but I do not have an iNtel Mac to test your problem.
You can eliminate iSight as a possible contributor to your problems by using these tips:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93240
If your iSight works in other user accounts or other applications as suggested in the above link, got back to the user account where you have the problem. Be sure Photo Booth is not running. Then throw away the "com.apple.PhotoBooth.plist" file. (It is in your Home > Library > Preferences folder.) Restart Photo Booth.

Hi,
i have a strange problem with my 'Save as' dialog in all my appications, whenever i 'save as' it goes to my documents folder all the time, it used to go to the last folder i'd saved to. anybody have any clues as to what's going on? also, it doesn't seem to have the little traingles beside the folders anymore, so you can't click on them to quickly see what's in the folders.
this is on a powerbook Ti 1Ghz running 10.4.7
thanksthanks Peter for trying to help
ok, i've narrowed down the problem, it seems that when i try and save a file onto one partition of one of my ext drives it won't save to my last save dir but if i save to another partition/drive it works ok, also if i rename the 'dodgy' partition it also seems to work ok, so somehow the name of the drive has become corrupted.
anybody ever heard of this? or how i could fix this as it's a quite annoying because alot of my audio files are referenced on this partition, so itunes or Cubase (audio sequencer) can't find my files now. -
Possible Problem with Save for Web and Devices?
II've come here to the forum for some insight on why a gif file created by save for web and devices command is not showing up as an image in an uploading dialog box for my website. I'm buildiing my website with word press and a custom freelancer theme. I've created a customized header with Illustrator and have been saving the file with the save for web and devices command. Once I have my gif file, I go to my theme uploader and try to upload the gif image and place it on my homepage. I've not had any problems with doing this until yesterday, when I tried to upload an updated file. What usually happens is that the thumbnail image shows up in the dialog box, I select my options, and click insert. But what's started happening yesterday is that the thumbnail does not show up, unless I click on edit image. This makes no difference, as when I click insert and go to my homepage and refresh it, the header doesn't show up. I've tried working with the developer of the theme to resolve this problem and so far we've not found a solution. I've tried to upload the header with different file types: jpg, png, tiff, but they don't work. I thought I'd come here to see if anyone might have some suggestions. The problem may not be with Illustrator's save for web and devices, but I thought I'd give this forum a shot. Thanks for any and all respones. :[
CT,
If you can see and open the GIF/whatever (with any viewing application), the Illustrator Save for Web&Devices works. If not, you may ask about it in the Illustrator forum:
http://forums.adobe.com/community/illustrator/illustrator_general?view=discussions
If the image is there, to have the issue solved quickly, I believe you should ask in a forum covering the web building application. -
Problem with SaveAs function using random paths.
The Setup:
Part 1) I have a folder-level script that allows me to perform a SaveAs function from within forms. I do this as a way to save the document quietly in the background. The effect is that the file is overwritten by a copy of itself. The script is:
var mySaveAs = app.trustedFunction( function(oDoc,cPath,cFlName)
app.beginPriv();
cPath = cPath.replace(/([^\/])$/, "$1/");
try{
oDoc.saveAs(cPath + cFlName);
}catch(e){
app.alert("Error During Save");
app.endPriv();
Part 2) From within my documents, I perform the save by calling the function below:
function runSave()
{if(typeof(mySaveAs) == "function") {
var pathArray = this.path.split("/");
var myFileName = pathArray[pathArray.length-1];
var cPath = this.path.slice(0,myFileName);
mySaveAs(this, cPath, myFileName);
} else {
app.alert("Missing Save Function\n" + "Please contact forms administrator");
Part 3) I have several large forms that utilize an autosave to call the save function according to a time interval of 5 minutes, using:
app.setInterval(runSave(), 300000);
The Problem:
Part 1) The autosave feature works fine and it works silently in the background. However, I start to experience problems when I have two forms open at the same time. If, for example, I have a form from one folder open, and open a form from a second folder, the save feature will sometimes save the active document to it's original folder (as intended, overwriting itself and creating an autosave) or sometimes save to the second document's original folder. This leaves me with an updated (autosaved) copy of the document in the wrong folder, and a non-updated copy in the original folder. This seems to vary depending on which document I opened last and/or which document is currently active. Though I can't seem to find the right combination.
It's as thought the "this.path" is getting confused.
Part 2) Worse still, if the two documents have the same name, as is often the case with these forms, any incorrect filing when saving causes an overwrite of the second document and loss of data.
Part 3) To makes things maddening, this also happens at times when no second folder or second document is open. Instead, the misfiling saves the single, active document to a recently accessed folder. For example, I'll open a local folder and open a Word doc, close the doc and the folder, go to a different folder in a different root (a networked folder), open the form, and it autosaves to the local machine in the folder with the Word doc. So now not only do I have a non-updated copy in my correct folder, I have no idea where the updated copy was actually saved to until I come across it some time later.
Part 4) Again, worse still, the previously accessed folder might happen to be one that contains a document with the same name, and that document gets overwritten by the autosave. I'll have no idea that the form has been overwritten until I happen to open it some time later and see that it contains data from a totally different form.
What is going on and how do I stop it?
Adobe Acrobat X Pro on a PC.Thank you, that is helpful to understand. I'd like to keep it as 3 parameters, as all my documents currently output 3 to the trusted function. And I'd still like to keep the error catch, but I'm not sure why the previous trusted function from the tutorial is no longer working, so I just want to run this by you:
safeSaveAs = app.trustPropagatorFunction(function(theDoc,thePath,theFileName){
app.beginPriv();
var fullPath = (thePath + theFileName);
try {
theDoc.saveAs({cPath:fullPath});
} catch(e) {
app.alert("Error During Save");
app.endPriv();
myTrustedSaveAs = app.trustedFunction(function(theDoc,thePath,theFileName){
app.beginPriv();
safeSaveAs(theDoc,thePath,theFileName);
app.endPriv(); -
Problems with "Save as" function in CS6
Hi,
One of our employees uses Adobe CS6 and has discovered a problem when they try to use the "save As" function.
The problem arises when trying to assign filesnames that have a fullstop in them(typically to indicate version numbers) and this then seems to confused with the file extension.
Is there a workaround or setting within the product that can fix this issue?
Cheers,
AndrewThis has nothing to do with Adobe, this is a general limitation in your operating system's file naming conventions. Some special characters simply are not allowed or reserved by the operating system itself. Since you didn't bother to provide any system info, nobody can advise specifically, but it's probably normal within the bounds of whatever OS you use and the respective region/ language settings.

Problem with "save as" for a lvlib
Hi guys
I am trying to make a copy of a bigger LabVIEW project. The whole project is contained within a single project library (lvlib), which has a number of sublibraries. After I choose "save as" for the topmost lvlib, I enter the new library name and location. Finally, the process stops with the following error: 'LabVIEW: Generic error. Cannot save library "xxx.lvlib"'. Nothing is copied. Do you have any ideas where the problem can be?
Vladimir

copy_lvlib_error.PNG 3 KBHi JLS
Thanks for your help. However, if I just copied the VIs into a different folder, their mutual links would not be preserved. This is a major pain when copying bigger LV projects. Copying the whole lvlib solves this issue quite well.
Actually, I've already solved my problem. There were some invalid VI references in some of my VIs. Since they were included only in disabled diagram structures, the code worked well, but for the lvlib copying, probaby they caused the mentioned problem. Since I removed them, the copying works fine.

Hi,
We are about to implement SharePoint2013 in our organization.. 2000 internal users.
Now in the last stage of the Project we have got a big problem.
When clients create a new office document in a document library and press save (eg save as since its not save get), the save as dialog in Word,excel etc don't open the location of the document library where it was created from.
It opens the klient document folder on the PC.
The client are Windows 7 x32 with Office 2010 SP1.
I have tryed all settings with trusted site and local intranet site,
When I do this from a Windows 8.1 client with Office 2013 its working and show the SharePoint document library where I created the document from.
Any suddestions?
Thanks in advance.
/Stefantwo things.
If the user has saved things to the document library or opened and re-saved things to the document library then it will "know" about that address and it will sometimes show up in the SaveAs dialog even when using Office 2010.
I wasn't suggesting that they needed to save it locally and then upload it. If they type in the http address of the site they will be able to browse to the library and save it normally. The Save As just won't default to the library where the
New button was pressed when using Office 2010.
The point is that if you want the best user experience with the tightest integration then you need to have SharePoint and Office on the same version.

CUIC 8.5 - Problem with Save As and editing reports
CUIC 8.5.2. I have users set up with Roles of Login User, Dashboard Designer, Report Designer, Report Definition Designer and Value List Collection Designer. They also have Read Execute and Write Permissions. Problem is, if they run a stock report, the Save As, and Edit options on the report are greyed out and inactive. What is missing in order for users to be able to create custom reports? Any help would be appreciated.
I might have ran into this at some point last year, I think (but I could be wrong) if you setup the write permissions for the user group, it should then fix it for everyone. You might want to give that a spin in case you have a lot of individual users.
Glad the solution worked though. Thanks for the points.
