Problem with sim card on my iphone 4s...

My device is not reading the Sim card....it says "searching" and sometimes "invalid Sim" .... not able to recieve calls or texts...it is causing a lot of inconvinience.... if there is a solution pls help....!!

Have you tried:
To reboot the phone by pressing Power and Home for up to 10 seconds and then turning it back on? (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430)
To remove the SIM card and reinsert it? (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1438)
That's where I would start.

Sounds like your iPhone is locked to AT&T. Contact them to see
if you qualify for unlocking.

And I experiencing problem with locked SIM card / Sim card not installed
Phone I buy in USA and currently use in EU.
I had no problems with IOs 4.2...

iPhones bought in the USA are usually locked to the carrier and can't be unlocked. so, if you are using another SIM than the original one, your phone will be locked again to this original carrier after the update.

Problems with Sim Card

I bought an IPhone4 from an apple store in london and have been using it for a month now with no problems. I`m on holiday now in Malaysia and cant seem to get connected. It keeps saying No Sim and says the same on the settings function. It shouldnt be locked, as bought from an apple store. what can be the problem then? any help would be deeply appreciated.

If not provided with the playbook under a contract, is the SIM card suitable for use in a Playbook?
The "cannot resolve" problem can be browsr cache needing to be ceared but often means you are not getting to a good DNS server, and maybe not even a good internet connection.

Problem with sim card on N97( sim memmory full)

I just bought nokia n97 unlock and when i put sim card in it work as normal, but one problem is it show the massage indecator that <SIM memmory full> and the envolop sign still in there all the time. i just wonder is there any ways to elimenat the massage indecator on my phone.? is this cuase from SIM card or phone? can anyone give me some advice on this issue. also i try everything but it doesnt work. please help .. thanks you

do you have another sim card you can try in the phone or another phone you can try the sim in ? If so you can find where the fault lies and either replace the sim or have the phone repaired ? If you have no contacts or sim messages on the sim it may be faulty !

Problem with Sim Card?

Hello, earlier today my phone had a message saying Sim Card not present, or something similar to it. Later that day, I looked again at my phone and it told me to connect my phone to itunes and restore it because it wasn't able to get service. I did so, and now I keep getting error 1002 after it does the recovery process. Is there an easy solution to this problem?

Also, I should mention.. yes my Sim Card is still in my phone. I can take it out and hold it in my hand.

Have you removed and replaced it? That has cured some problems reported in past days.

Now I've already been to AT&T and nothing they could do with the account settings would work, in fact they had never seen the issue before. They gave me a new SIM card and that did nothing as well. Finally they tried out a different SIM tray, and that still didn't work. I have a Genius Bar appointment at the Apple Store tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. Do you think that the SIM reader inside the iPhone 4 is broken?

I solved a problem I had with activating my iPhone although the error message was different from yours.
I got the message "There is something wrong with your iPhone and it cannot be activated, please bring it to your nearest Apple service".
Via a Chinese forum I found out its the SIM card witch is the problem. If the serial number of the SIM has a "letter" in it it won't work. If only numbers it will work.
I now tried it with 2 SIM cards with letters and got the message over and over again. Than tried with my only numbers SIM card and it activated instantly.

Is the English sim from the original carrier as that is usually the message you get with a carrier locked phone.

Can I swap out a iPhone 4 sim card into a iPhone 5 with the same carrier?

Here is the situation. I used to have Sprint as my personal cellphone carrier and just had bought an iPhone 5 when my employer put me on a business cellphone plan that they pay for. They bought one of the bargain basement original iPhone 4 handsets (not to be confused with the 4S) for employees to use, also on the Sprint network. The phone is owned by them; the plan is paid for by them. We just get to use it. As a result, I decided to just close out my personal cellphone account, even though it was a better phone. I used my 64GB iPhone 5 as my iPod, it worked great for music, apps, books, etc that I needed, and I just used the 8GB iPhone 4 just for phone calls and text messages.
Well recently, with the 5C and 5S being released, I wanted to know if the iPhone 4 could be upgraded by my employer to a new handset, preferably a 32 GB 5C or a 16 GB 5S. My employer has been slow to respond, because there are so many employee accounts to weed through and most are perfectly fine with an older phone. I am not, because the new operating system is slower on an iPhone 4 than an iPhone 5.
I want to ask my employer if its possible to get the SIM card from the iPhone 4 just swapped out into the iPhone 5. Is that possible? I understand that there is a size difference in the SIM cards. Is this something I could do myself, just pop it out and pop it in in the new handset? Or is this something that will require going to my employer to do, or to a Sprint store and have them do it? Do I have to be concerned with warranties being voided if I want to do this? (Keep in mind the iPhone 4 is my EMPLOYER's property, and they pay the bill as well. Iphone won't work with sim card inside

I bought a iphone 3Gs and the last owner updated the IOS to 5.1.1.
It works perfect without the sim card, but as soon as i put a sim card in the iphone it does the following things:
(Even when the battery is 100%)
- the apple symbol appears and the iphone shuts down again.
- the apple symbol appears, i can enter the code and the iphone shuts down again.
- the apple symbol appears, i can enter the code, i get a screen and the iphone shuts down again.

I did tried a different sim. The problem was the same.
But i think i found the solution. I did recovery (reinstall) of the IOS and after that i was asked to put in the sim. Untill now it seems to work.

Unless the 4S was sold for Verizon, the CDMA module is disabled. Regardless, Verizon will not activate devices on their network that were not specifically sold for their network.
