Problem with Skype/Microsoft 365 subscription

I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this but... I used my skype subscription minutes (as part of my Microsoft 365 subscription account) for the first time ever for just under a half an hour on November 4th, and again today - again for just under a half an hour - and when I checked how many skype minutes I have left, it said I have 2 minutes left until January 17th, 2014. I'm wondering why that would be, considering I just started using the minutes on the 4th of November. I can understand that perhaps I have only 2 mins left until sometime in December, but why January of next year? I'm a bit confused... If anyone can help me clarify this, that would be greatly appreciated!

I'm running a G4 and 10.411 using an old version of skype with a software patch that I found in one of the skype topics on this site. It has been working fine for months now. I don't use video just audio. I have a subscription to call land lines. The problem I am having is that I can call out and hear the person I am calling, but they can't hear me. Is there a problem with skype today? Or have they made changes as of today that do not permit people to use the patch and an old version of skype? Any information would be much appreciated.

The problem has seemed to have gone away. The problem started yesterday on two different computers. Today, on one of the computers I ran a utility called Mcjanitor that I had installed years ago but very rarely ran it. I neglected to try skype prior to running the utility. On computer #2 I tried booting from an old utility disk called techtoolpro. I was unable to boot from the disk after several attempts and restarts. Both computers are running better and skype now works again on both. I sent an email earlier today to a tech support guy from my ISP about my recent problems with skype. In conclusion I can't explain why skype now works on both computers. I can only guess that I reset something when I used (attempted to use) a utility disk. The other possibility is that my ISP guy did something on his end. Or, lastly, that skype had problems that were remedied by skype today.

As a suggestion I'd put the Text_io segments into their own begin - exception - end sub-blocks within the main code. This way if Text_io does raise an exception you can catch it earlier as it may be able to recover - That is if it is a text_io exception.

I need to suppress ReportCrash - Problem with Skype

I need to use skype for my business. Unfortunately, it's kinda unavoidable and not easily replaced. I also just updated skype to the latest version in hopes that it would fix this problem, but unfortunately no such luck. I know this isn't a forum about skype help, and I'm not expecting someone to tell me how to fix skype so it doesn't do it here, but rather if someone could tell me if you can suppress reportcrash from being set off by skype that would be very helpful.
So basically every time I launch skype it also sets off reportcrash. Then report crash uses 100% of my CPU, draining my battery, making things slow, etc... I quit skype, report crash still keeps on running. I go to the terminal and I go to kill it, another report crash process just pops up, even if skype has already been quit. The only thing that solves the problem is a restart, but then once I launch skype it happens all over agian.
If it's possible to suppress reportcrash that would be great. What does that do anyways? I mean ideally I'd like to suppress it just for skype, but if it's not all that important I don't care about suppresing

Downgrade to an older version? Or contact Microsoft support and sort out what's wrong?
What you're describing — reportcrash going compute-bound — could be a problem with your Mac, however. Try Skype from a different login and see if it has problems there, and try from a different Mac — I'd be surprised if there was widespread, generic problem across multiple versions, and which would then imply there's something else off or wrong with local environment. Also launch Console.app from Applications > Utilities and then launch Skype and see if there's some sort of repeating crash that's happening secondary to Skype.
Are there any anti-virus, anti-malware, I/O or system performance-enhancing tools or other add-ons that improve or speed or enhance or protect? Remove those per the package documentation, and re-try access to Skype.

Problems with Skype account creation when signing ...

I recently created my Skype account by signing in with my Microsoft Account. I used my outlook account when creating the Skype account. However, when the account was created, my hotmail account which is linked to my Outlook account was listed as the primary email. I think the Skype name was also based off the hotmail email.
I fail to understand why this is so when the Outlook email was listed as the primary email in my outlooko account. To make matters worse, I am unable to update my profile as the SKype account prompts me for a password when doing so. Typing in the password to my outlook gives an error.
Is there any way to rectify this? I would very much like to use my Outlook email as the Skype name and not the one on the hotmail account. The two email addresses are very different.

Problem with Skype and Wireless Networks

I have been having a problem with Airport for about 10 months. Long winded explanation follows.
Initially file transfers over wireless networks were extremely slow but this seems to have been that 10.5.2 update problem. There is a remaining issue when I use Skype on my Mac (details below) connected to a wireless network the incoming and outgoing audio drop out for 1 - 3 seconds at irregular but frequent intervals (approx every 5 - 10 seconds). This is regardless of the wireless network I am on - and that is dozens of them all over the world. Note it is voice only calls, not video. Apple has replaced the Airport card and the mother board; the OS has been reinstalled; test accounts set up but nothing fixes the problem.
At one point I had temporary relief by switching off 'Configure IPv6' in System Preferences/Network/Airport/TCP/IP. This worked for a month or so but now the problem is back as before.
All other aspects of wireless activity are fine. Wireless firmware is 1.4.4.
I have worn out my welcome with the usually sensational help desk. Any suggestions out there in Mac Land?

After discussion with tech support they said the Airpot card had to be replaced. This was done with admirable expediency and I got the MBP back in 36 hours. On testing it the same problem was still there. Identical pattern on the ping test, the fault was not the hardware.
Once more a call to Apple and another tech. This time we booted from the OS 10.5 install disk and ran the ping test. I ran it for a few hours without seeing the fault, it worked fine. The problem had to be in the operating system.
After backing up all the data I zeroed the drive and did a clean install of the OS. Bingo! Problem gone.
So after 10 months, two airport cards and a mother board, the issue was in fact something corrupt deep in the OS.
So to anyone having similar problems with Airport, run a ping test as described above. If you see that kind of pattern, try a clean install before going down the hardware road.

Is apple going to fix the problems with skype

There is a major problem with dropped IM and video with Skype from the apple products. What is being done about this?

Is the issue just with Skype or FaceTime as well?
Make Sure iOS is updated to the latest version
Reboot the device by pressing and holding down the home and sleep/wake buttons (power) at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings
Have you tried deleting the app and reinstalling ?

Continual Problems with Skype-to-Skype calls TO Sw...

Let's see if the Skype Customer Service will respond to this inquiry in a manner which indicates that they have completely read and understood the situation which I am about to explain.
Over the past 8 years, I have been regularly using Skype to call family in Switzerland. That's Skype-to-Skype, not Skype-to-phone. I have either used a modern Macintosh (OS 10.6.8, using Skype 6.15) or most recently an iPhone5 (OS 8.1.3) and the downloaded Skype App. The person with whom I have been speaking in Switzerland has been using either a modern Windows PC or iPhone5.
Each time, I can't call them, and the person over there must first call me.
Each time, I can transmit a live picture to them, but I can not receive their picture.
Oh, yes, I just tried to message Skype Customer Service about this issue, and received the following message: “500 - Internal server error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.”

I recently tried to buy skype credits with a credit card but it failed several times. I am sure that the amount on the card is enough for my purchase
and also the information I'm sending is correct. There must be something else.
I am from Bulgaria and my credit card is from bulgarian bank. Is there a problem with that? I heard that some skype-credit features are not supported in some countries.

Ditto. We use paysafecards to hopefully refrain from entering too much personal info.
Though with this unlimited thing that we have to do in order to buy credit is a hassle and also defeats all purpose of using the paysafecard service.
Ahwell, time to find another way to contact relatives who lives far away untill they change this bad policy.

Having problems with my Microsoft Word 2011 for macbook

Every time I open up the Microsoft work 2011 on my macbook this error message keeps showing up.
"The Open XML file Normal.dotm cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents of file name might contain invalid characters (for example, \ /)."
And then right below it, it says: Details: No error detail available
So now my questions is why is it doing that? And can you please help me and tell me step by step on what I need to do.
Also is their a refresh button for Microsoft Word for a macbook?

This forum is for PC based IT users and not too many PC users are familiar with the Mac. I happen to be one that is however.
George Summers has already suggested renaming your Normal template, but first I think you should remove any prior version of Office for the Mac (if there is one) that is on this machine. There are ways to have multiple versions of Office on the same machine,
but if you don't really need the prior version you should remove it.
Create a new user id on the machine and open Word from it. Hopefully you don't get the same error message. Then go to Word > Help and run the Check for Updates function until it tells you that your software is fully updated. Finish up by running the Disk
Utility app located in Applications/Utilities and Repair Permissions on your Primary Drive, which is usually Macintosh HD. Then restart your system.
Login under your user id and before starting anything use Finder>Go>Go to folder... and paste this string into the text box.
~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/User Templates and in there should be the Normal.dotm template. If it is not there look for it as George as pointed out from Word>Preferences>File Locations and remove it. It should be in
the User Templates folder and if it is in a different location this can be causing the problem, which can be fixed but for now, your objective should be to get Word running as Microsoft had expected to run.
When you are done with this, post your update on the Answers forum that I shared with you and mark this thread as closed.
